Hello & Welcome

Carrying on from LOSE IT! November 2022 this is where people who wish to lose or maintain with accountability check in daily. People can access support and general advice around a healthy lifestyle (food/health/wellbeing) We generally have WOW - Weigh on Wednesday to track progress.

December is a tough month to navigate food wise especially if you’re wanting to lose. By making sensible choices without total deprivation you can hopefully mitigate any Christmas excess.

We all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, you’ll be strengthening your immune system and maintain a sense of well-being. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

You just need to find what works for you! Me personally? I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Are you in? What’s your plan? Whatever you do, Good Luck!

Get well soon poorly

AutisticLegoLover · 07/12/2022 08:01

Ffs. Get well soon poorly ones. We had covid at the start of October and we still aren't 100%
Having just bought the Christmas tree I'm very low on money this week so I'm using what we have in and that means healthier meals generally and no snacks. Yesterday was beans on toast and today is leek and potato soup. Tomorrow is pasta of some description. Breakfast is toast or muesli and yogurt usually but I'll be making porridge while we are in this cold snap. It's always with golden syrup but I don't like it with anything else. Golden syrup is a comfort food. Healthier eating and eating less tends to bung me up for a while and weight is slow to shift then until my system adapts.

The thread has been busy!

WOW - .1lb off for me. Tiny loss I know. I was convinced I’d have gained as I feel heavy and bloated.

@ImALittlePea No, you won’t be able to snap of the melancholy. All your stress responses have been triggered/stimulated which your body has a physiological response to. Your stress hormones could still be high. Any intrusive thoughts just allow to pass through your mind, be nurturing to yourself, prioritise sleep, take a few minutes each day to just ‘breathe’ and actively try to relax your muscles. There are a number of breathing techniques that could help. One is the 3 4 5. Breathe in for 3, hold for 4, exhale for 5. Repeat. Your mind and body just need to settle and re-set. ❤️

Sorry to read you’ve been poorly @GonnaGetGoingReturns ! Hopefully you’re over the worst. Pleased to see you back.

@milkfromthesleepycow I fully understand how busy you’ve been. Same at the end. Properly busy which unfortunately for me means more fatigue. Exercise might have to go on hold 😬

@Cloudberries123 I’m sure if you up the water you’ll flush the salt out. You’re bang on, a huge part of all this is the health and well-being aspects. Ive lost a minute .1lb, although I still feel ‘heavy & bloated’.

@fallfallfall Well done on improving your speed 👍👏👏👏

@milkfromthesleepycow Well done on your loss 👏👏👏

@Allthegoodnamestakken So sorry to read you’re ill! Here’s to a good recovery ❤️‍🩹

@AutisticLegoLover Ive heard about a few people having ongoing symptoms after covid. I hope you soon see the back of it!

@wannadisc0 Well done on your loss! 👏👏👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone soup. Walnuts.
Meal 2 - Hake, carrots, leeks & broccoli.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Great news on the losses! Hope those that are poorly feel well soon 💐
Have been getting some movement in, and eating fairly healthy, not feeling hungry, but a little bit meh - think it’s pmt, once my period starts properly it will hopefully perk me up. Trying to find substitutes/distractions for comfort eating, such as watching Xmas specials in the evening, hot water bottle, and lots of hot herbal drinks ☕️

ImALittlePea · 07/12/2022 11:15

Warm carby foods are definitely needed at the moment @GonnaGetGoingReturns

That sounds nasty @Allthegoodnamestakken I hope you're feeling better soon and you get that chicken roasted up.

Congrats all on the losses and continued determination!

I hope your DD is better soon @wannadisc0

Thank you so much @TheRealHousewife and you're totally right. I opened up a bit more to my DH last night, it's not an easy conversation as it isn't easy to say some things out loud (especially as he is contributing to my feelings a little), but it's a start. Felt more positive today, ready to get a good meal plan in etc... And then DD was sick this morning so can't go to childcare. Trying not to let my anxiety run away with things, but even with that aside it instantly adds to the feeling of continuous overwhelm when one of the DC are ill. Got to tackle the car seat shortly 🤢

So as far as meals go - again I'm not sure. Lunch should be my usual. Dinner will have to be decided when DH is home and depending on how the littles are. Really hoping for a loss Friday so I'm hoping things aren't too derailed.

AutisticLegoLover · 07/12/2022 11:43

I'm up to 24 miles of walking so far this week. I won the weeks fitbit bingo yesterday so I'm very happy with that. I'm winning the work week hustle too and get quite competitive 😁 I'm hoping for 50 miles by Friday which should be doable. Waking is my only exercise. I don't dr

AutisticLegoLover · 07/12/2022 12:04

Drive, that should say, and if I can walk somewhere I will. 2 years ago I walk to my nearest M&S food to get my mum's Christmas chocolates. A 6 mile round trip. That was on top of the school run of 5 miles round trip. I couldn't run to save my life but I can walk.

TheRealHousewife · 07/12/2022 20:07

@AutisticLegoLover Fantastic weekly walking distance! 👏👏👏

Thank you for being so kind and supportive to us all 💐

Allthegoodnamestakken · 08/12/2022 05:28

Morning all, spent pretty much all day in bed yesterday but did manage to get up and pop the chicken in the oven so I had roast chicken and steamed veggies for dinner.
Feeling quite a bit better this morning so have relocated to the sofa, hopped on the scales enroute and I'm down to 66.1kg so close to being 1kg from my first target.
@ImALittlePea hope the anxiety settles down soon and DC makes a speedy recovery
@AutisticLegoLover that's an amazing walking distance! My personal trainer actually told DP that she thinks walking each day is just as good as a short run twice a week so it's a great way to exercise.

AutisticLegoLover · 08/12/2022 06:59

Morning all. 63kg dead on today. It's so cold. My bedroom thermometer is reading 11.4 degrees! It's porridge for breakfast today to warm us up. Have a great day everyone.

So what changed? Well - good honest calorie counting. I’ve just been lying to myself really. So I’m recording EVERYTHING and although I haven’t set myself a limit my rule is everything is counted. This has had the effect of making me very mindful about my food/choices etc. I’ve been hitting 1400 to 2000 calories a day. Very happy.

Even if I slip I will record it. I have to be honest with myself from now on.

TofuonToast · 08/12/2022 07:02

I think a big moment was when I got in late afternoon/early evening I was peckish so had some crisis. Mindlessly eating them until gone. Forced myself to check calories and I was like ‘well, that’s dinner!’. I’d have normally beat myself up and then had dinner! 😵‍💫

ImALittlePea · 08/12/2022 08:01

Argh I've just done that thing where I wrote a post and then my phone glitched and I lost it 😭

To sum up - all a bit brighter here this morning 🤞

Food was middle-ground in terms of balance yesterday

At hospital with DS today for bi-annual routine appointments so going to be a trickier one. Plan is to find a low-cal lunch up there, and aim to be back for dinner at home, but not planned anything yet as these things often overrun so it may be a wetherspoons dinner before we set off.

Will update later 😊 have a good day all!

Smugsmaug · 08/12/2022 08:39

@TofuonToast
That’s a really helpful insight regarding calorie counting. It’s easy to underestimate when guesstimating, and as I’m generally eating healthier than before, it’s easy not to count up the butter and cheese properly, for me anyway! Im going to get a bit better at that part, once my period ends and I’ve gotten used to the drop in weather.

@TofuonToast agreed when I do proper calorie counting I lose.

When I swapped juice in water (squash) for hunger pangs and apples too, I also lost weight.

TheRealHousewife · 08/12/2022 17:18

Good Afternoon Everyone 😊

@ImALittlePea Losing posts is so frustrating! Pleased to read you're feeling brighter!

@Smugsmaug You're very welcome 😊

@Allthegoodnamestakken Well done on your loss! 👍

@AutisticLegoLover Hope you're feeling warmer! Porridge/oats make a good first meal!

@TofuonToast I totally agree with you! CC can help in making us more aware about what we are eating & drinking. My body doesn't register when it's eaten enough to balance the scales so I need to keep a tally! Well done on not panicking but being pragmatic and sensible 👍

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Its slowly coming off. Keep going! 😬

Got myself an injury so laying prone on sofa dosed up on pain meds & anti-inflammatorys. No exercise for the next few days. I didn't feel like food earlier but needed something to line my stomach; therefore I had oats with milk, honey and a blob of cream 🤭 Around 4ish I got a craving for cream cheese & chilli jam on a gf Warbaton thin 😈 Strangest food day I've ever had 😆

Anyone watched the Netflix from Harry & Meghan?

Absolutely. And it’s shocking how many calories are hidden in food. When you’re ready let me know and we can support each other! 😊

hello from the west :)
i'm plodding along, thankful dh drags me to the track. lots of salt on board hoping my sunday or monday weight in is stable or down.
the amazing soup i made was made with consommé, not high cal but right away my rings are tighter.
nowhere near 24 miles this week, well done @AutisticLegoLover . doing 3 miles a day or there abouts. good speed with my heart rate 110ish.

Cloudberries123 · 08/12/2022 18:53

Well this week has been an almost total write-off nutritionally, we've been playing catch up due to ongoing lurgies and have just finished a takeaway for tonight's dinner. And yesterday was frozen pizzas and salad. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to have hot food available even if it's not very nutritious. It's just not what my waistline needs!

I do REALLY need to up my water intake as it's affecting my breastfeeding and I'm feeling very dehydrated during the night. It's quite difficult to get enough at work although I suppose I can last a few hours and then chug loads on the way home.

It's been junk food, puddings and lack of water or vegetables this week and I'm just not going to depress myself by doing a weigh-in 😂 Need to get 'clicked' back into the mindset this weekend and then assess where I'm at.

Really motivating to read others' posts the last few days though!
