Hello & Welcome

Carrying on from LOSE IT! November 2022 this is where people who wish to lose or maintain with accountability check in daily. People can access support and general advice around a healthy lifestyle (food/health/wellbeing) We generally have WOW - Weigh on Wednesday to track progress.

December is a tough month to navigate food wise especially if you’re wanting to lose. By making sensible choices without total deprivation you can hopefully mitigate any Christmas excess.

We all deserve to feel the best we can, be the best we can and strive to be as fit and healthy as possible. Not only will you look great in your finery, you’ll be strengthening your immune system and maintain a sense of well-being. In addition, if we eat right, get outside, move more your mental health will heap the rewards. Better mental health = better choices. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

You just need to find what works for you! Me personally? I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with lite weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

Are you in? What’s your plan? Whatever you do, Good Luck!

Oh that'd definitely be rude @TheRealHousewife 😉enjoy!

Don't like to waste food, it just wasn't very nice. It was a shop bought soup, so will not get that type again. Never mind - onwards we go.

Just calculated my weight loss in packs of butter - just over 39 packs lost this year!!

Cloudberries123 · 02/12/2022 17:23

LittlePea that's madness, well done! I just looked up my measly 2.7kg and it's actually almost 11 packs of butter! Wow!

I've read everybody's posts, though too many to tag individually as I'm against the clock with baby nap and dinner.

We lost a day to illness yesterday, and I thought about staying home today and catching up on the bombsite housework, which would have inevitably meant comfort snacks and too many teas. So I did the right thing and went to work - took double the fruit I normally take, to eat on the way home. And I don't know if it's hormones or rest or just mindset, but I wasn't even hungry at work, and haven't been that tempted to raid the fridge this afternoon! Some things are a mystery.

Finishing a weird week feeling physically strong and mentally positive 💪🏻

Breakfast - Greek yoghurt, double cream, pack of raspberries, sprinkle brown sugar. Coffee

Snack - 2x bananas, 2x apples

Lunch - two wholemeal wraps with ham and sauerkraut

Dinner - wholewheat spaghetti, veg, cheese

TheRealHousewife · 02/12/2022 20:16

Hi @ImALittlePea They were delish but I have a sneaky feeling I’ve been glutened as I have stomach ache. They have a separate fryer for GF and OH said my stuff came out of it, so should be safe to eat. Nonetheless I can’t think of anything else that could have caused it 🤷‍♀️ Loving the butter comparisons 👍

Well done @Cloudberries123 in regards to navigating a tough week without falling face first into food debauchery. Hopefully all your household are fully recovered!

Today has been possibly better food wise.
Breakfast: tea and almond croissant (first one in weeks because Waitrose never have any for my delivery).
Lunch: ritz crackers with Wensleydale and cranberries
Dinner: spaghetti with vegan tomato pesto
Snack: 4 fig, plum and cranberry biscuit/crackers things. I bought them for Christmas but thought I'd better check I like them. I do 😁
1 Maltesers celebrations
Water, water, lots of water.
I've walked almost 5 miles too.

Tomorrow morning I am cooking my favourite marinara sauce along with soup.

TheRealHousewife · 02/12/2022 21:47

Hi @AutisticLegoLover Wensleydale is one of my favourite cheeses 😋Great distance you walked 👍

steady day here and a bit of divine intervention spotted.
dh wanted to go to the track early in the day which threw me for a routine loop.
lunch was too calorific following our return home hungry, portion control went out the window.
supper was planned out to be spaghetti with meat sauce and right at crunch time i could NOT find pasta sauce anywhere in the freezer...so caesar salad to the rescue with some of the tofu croutons. saved and attributed to some well placed prayers for help with the calorie consumption and the need to scale back ;).
kitchen closed on time, i'm behind with my fluids so will drink up all evening.
i hope to catch up with everyone over the next few days. ttfn

fallfallfall · 03/12/2022 04:39

supper fail now corrected 4 servings of chili in the freezer and fingers crossed the pasta sauce divides into 6 reasonable sized servings.

missingmittens · 03/12/2022 11:09

Oh sorry to hear you were glutinated - I hope you're feeling ok today @TheRealHousewife

Well done @Cloudberries123 on your sensible choices. I hope everyone is feeling well today. 11 packs is amazing!

@AutisticLegoLover your comment about testing the Christmas food made me chuckle and is so very relatable.

Cloudberries123 · 03/12/2022 12:42

Thank you missingmittens and RealHousewife 11 packs of butter does sound quite impressive doesn't it 😋 And LittlePea has what 3 times that!

AutisticLegoLover Fig, plum and cranberry crackers sound amazing! Were they any good and if so, where did you get them?

fallfallfall Well done on rescuing your supper situation!

AutisticLegoLover · 03/12/2022 13:37

@Cloudberries123 Waitrose.

TheRealHousewife · 03/12/2022 14:39

Good Afternoon Everyone 😊

Thank you @missingmittens Hi … are you new or name changer … or have I had a brain fart😬

@fallfallfall Fingers crossed cals even out for you over the weekend! You’ve been getting the exercise in so that will help in mitigating any extra.

Menu
Meal 1 - 3 egg Mediterranean omelette. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Liver onions, carrots, cabbage & gravy.
Tea, black coffee, water.

Exercise - None apart from pottering around.

Anyone trimmed up yet? I’ve done bits but haven’t unearthed my lights yet so can’t do tree as they should go on first 🎄

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

missingmittens · 03/12/2022 15:01

🤦‍♀️ @TheRealHousewife nope, the brain fart is all mine! Name changed to post something in the litter tray (would be identifying as my sis is on MN a lot and it included some pics) and then forgot. Anyone on November thread/curious enough to look on that board for me will know who I am... Normal name/service to be resumed shortly 😂

TheRealHousewife · 03/12/2022 15:03

@missingmittens I'll respect your privacy and not look 👀 😬. No I really won't 😊

OP posts:
missingmittens · 03/12/2022 15:10

Haha, I'm not at all worried about you lovely lot seeing my NC posts... It's more people IRL knowing my regular name and being able to search me/see my other posts that I'd prefer to avoid... dealt with that well, didn't I?! 🤦‍♀️😂

Cloudberries123 · 03/12/2022 16:09

Aha missingmittens I thought you were just a friendly newcomer! I'll afford you the same privacy and move straight on from the name change slip. You did the same for me once I believe 😊

Another tricky weekend day. I'm really not sure how to make them easier - I can quite easily 'hang' my healthy eating on our normal schedule, but weekends I'm struggling with. As usual, I've eaten too little, which will lead to eating too much.

Breakfast - Ryvita thins and cream cheese, coffee

Second breakfast - more thins and cream cheese, another coffee

Lunch - leftover lentil soup, cheese sandwich. Another coffee (too many for me!)

Right about now - thinking about baking a cake.

Happy weekend everyone 😛

Smugsmaug · 03/12/2022 22:29

Hope you’re all having lovely weekends!
Hips eased up, so managed a walk. Holding myself accountable, did have a couple of shots of gin (visited a Xmas fair to coax myself our for a walk). And whilst the cottage pie and quiche weren’t inherently unhealthy, had bigger portions, prob overate because of the alcohol tbh! Almost gave in to chocolate too, but thankfully the alcohol wore off quickly. Reminded me why I don’t drink v often these days and that I don’t really enjoy it anymore. Tomorrow have a few work bits to catch up on, so plan is a brisk early walk to clear out the cobwebs, lots of veg and healthy stuff to balance out today 👍🏼

My decorations are up, need something to brighten up the early evenings. Thinking of some nice new lamps in the living room too, as a cosy distraction and alternative to my usual seasonal over eating and snacking.

fallfallfall · 03/12/2022 23:21

oh @Cloudberries123 you're post made me giggle.
do the best you can, we all know what needs to be done and some days are taken over by "stuff" that isn't healthy eating.
shocking 148.2 on the scale, my heart sank a lot :(
B: buttered toast, boiled egg, 1/2 roma tomato
L🐔broth, with one matza ball floating in it.
S: spaghetti!!! yup i was up all evening making a lovely sauce 303 calories as per the online instuctions which i followed.
mine will be served on a bed of spaghetti squash :)
10,000 steps and 65 minutes of "exercise" although low cardio

Cloudberries123 · 04/12/2022 20:37

Indeed fallfallfall some days just do get taken over by something else. Your menu sounded very nice! I love a broth, and matza balls too.

I've succumbed to a tummy bug so haven't had much appetite till this evening.

Breakfast - coffee, small sandwich

Throughout day - plain salted crisps, two hot chocolates, water

Dinner - OK size portion of chicken roast dinner, though didn't want more as I usually would.

So odd to be off food! I'm rarely ill so forgot what it's like.

Happy new week ahead to everyone

fallfallfall · 05/12/2022 03:44

my finicky scale has suddenly switched over to kg vs lbs...and no coaxing seems to change it back...this really riles me but it's really a minor inconvenience and i need to relax about it for now.
dh and i have walked the track daily so that is good. and food choices are fine as is the IF window.
so i'm hoping this week is a good week.
i have soup on the go and i hope it makes 4-6 meals worth.

@Cloudberries123 i hope you feel better soon and i'm with you wishing everyone a good week ahead!!

milkfromthesleepycow · 05/12/2022 06:56

@fallfallfall my scales suddenly started giving me my fat mass as kg rather than percentage a while ago. It's very annoying (and it feels way worse that I have 23kg of fat rather than 35%!!). So sympathy! Try giving it a stern talking to? Alas didn't work with mine

Feeling positive. Just been out for a (very cold) run and have my lunch made up already. Go this week!!

AutisticLegoLover · 05/12/2022 07:52

Hope everyone has a good week.
Dd has an inset day today and I'm taking her to Costa for a treat. Breakfast was toast and tea, lunch will be a hot chocolate and cake, dinner will be homemade lentil soup. I'm back on the school run today and will clock up about 6 miles hopefully.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 05/12/2022 08:16

Hello All
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! I managed to put my Christmas tree up and that's about it. Still struggling to walk more than a few meters before struggling to get my breath, went back to the doctors and they've said its actually walking pneumonia so taking things very slowly this week, working from home and absolutely no exercise. I am actually struggling with the no exercise thing my evening walk, run or class is what keeps me sane.
Plan today is
Lunch - homemade bread and cheese with some salad
Dinner - Grilled cajun chicken and steamed greens

Jenasaurus · 05/12/2022 08:18

Hi, I have the last stone to go to target, please can I join for support.

I am following 1200 cals a day and under 130g carbs with no food after 5pm, started at 14 stone 4 on 1st July, now weigh 10 stone but have a large waist and as diabetic need to get at least another stone off to lost 4 inches from it to get my diabetes in remission (hopefully) The weight came off quickly in the beginning but now its slowed down so need a push to keep myself motivated x

Smugsmaug · 05/12/2022 09:01

Welcome!
Great to hear all the progress and the lovely nutritious meal plans!
As there are about 3 weeks to go before the Xmas countdown, i’m toying with the idea of applying the fast keto 800 principles a bit more stringently. Will prob make up a batch of tomato soup for easy lunches, and reduce my eating window a little more this week. To even consider doing that at the start of this journey was scary, however, my blood sugars must have improved, as I know I can do it comfortably now! If only I could see as much physical progress on the scales too. My menstrual cycle is all over the place since covid, so maybe that’s part of why. But, must be getting healthier so that’s the win and motivation 👍🏼

Cloudberries123 · 05/12/2022 09:07

Morning all, off work today and have the house to myself for once in a blue moon! (Apart from the dog 😉)

Thank you fallfallfall I do feel better although my stomach is still doing a lot of crazy stuff. Sounds like you are getting back into your very healthy routine and that can only be a good thing!

milk It is freezing out there so kudos on the run! Sets you up in a great mindset for the day.

AutisticLegoLover I do like a café treat and can't wait till my daughter is old enough to enjoy them with me 😊

Allthegoodnames walking pneumonia 😱 take it very very easy! That meal plan sounds great!

Hi Jenasaurus I think I've seen you on another weight loss thread that I lurk on, welcome. I'm at the start of my journey but there are several very inspirational people here who are maintaining and losing the last bit!

My plan for today is to enjoy being back in bed at 9am, which is truly lovely, and then start tackling the mountains of laundry and dishes from being the house of sickness. But in a gentle sort of way so I get some rest too 😊 @SanFranBear you must be busy with moving now!
