10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

A good past couple of days. Made a batch of a sort of nasi goreng/cabbage rice, enough for the past two evenings. First dinner with salmon and soft boiled egg to top, this evening with a prawn Sambal I made.

Had a huge craving for something sweet so had dessert from Uber eats, not something I usually do (my downfall when it comes to takeaways is generally Chinese) but I really enjoyed it and still within calories.

Usually go to family for food on Sunday but not this week so tomorrow I'll be cooking feta pasta and adding in extra tomatoes and red peppers. I'll make enough for two sittings again.

It's really helping to read back through posts on this thread.

Not sure on an interim goal for now, I have a holiday in Feb so I will think more about that, but I would like to get below 19 and a half stone by Christmas.

Such a good loss, here's to another good week. Your cabbage dish sounds lovely, I love cabbage but don't buy it often enough.

I have tried my hardest to be sensible this weekend and not do my normal sensible all week and binge at the weekend.

Thinking about Christmas I need to be careful what I buy as teens will have a few and then I will finish it all off.

WildImaginings · 20/11/2023 23:26

@Sunshineandrainbow thank you! I love cabbage but also don't buy it enough. The rice was lovely- I fried onions, cabbage and garlic in sesame oil and laoganma crispy chilli in oil then added rice, soy sauce, kecap manis, maggi, boiling water and then peas halfway through cooking. The result tasted similar to fried rice but with about a quarter of the oil. And fried rice is my favourite meal ever!

Will make the same rice tomorrow, enough for a couple of meals again. The last two evenings we've had tomato, red pepper and feta pasta.

I can only do this if I'm very organised- if I think ahead of exactly what I'm going to make and commit to it. Just need to try and stay in the right headspace now!

4lb is a terrific loss well done @WildImaginings
I lost 0.3kg last week which I'm finding very underwhelming to be honest

SW 150kg
CW 124.0kg next mini goals are
🔶120kg which would be 20% body weight loss & under 19 stone and then
🔶118kg which will be 5 stone in 6 months if I can get there before Jan 1st
TW 60kg

WildImaginings · 22/11/2023 10:21

That is absolutely amazing progress @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk ! Well done!

Weighed this morning and 2lb off. I am visiting family today and there will be cake and snacks so I'm not worrying about going over today as I just want to enjoy the day - I'll still track on my fitness pal as it will keep me on track for the rest of the week.

It was a lovely day, thank you!

Tempura prawns with the Chinese cabbage rice this evening, and I made a nice sticky glaze to toss the prawns in at the last minute so they stayed crispy.

I have some stuffed mushrooms and ready made mash that need to be used, so dinner tomorrow will probably be stuffed mushroom, cheesy onion mash and some sort of veg on the side.

chalkyc2 · 24/11/2023 07:56

Showing up early on a Friday morning to report a milestone - I am OVERWEIGHT!!! BMI 29.9....first time in 10 years I reckon and even then it was brief. I need another kg off to hit 6 stone loss. Then 2.5 stone/16kg to get to target.

I also bought 2 pairs of size 14 jeans/cords this week. Admittedly they are from shops that people claim size up, but anyway! 14! I was in a 22 this time last year.

I started a thread about surviving Christmas. I'm still thinking hard about it but actually I'm not going to go off plan I don't think. Christmas pudding on Christmas Day might be it.

WildImaginings · 24/11/2023 15:38

@chalkyc2 that is absolutely FANTASTIC! Such amazing progress - well done!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 24/11/2023 17:21

That's awesome news @chalkyc2 thanks for sharing

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/11/2023 09:21

Wow chalky that's fabulous. I admire you Christmas plan too. I am going to try really hard not to over buy junk.

Well today I have done a little dance on the scales as I have gone under 18 stone. 17. 12 today. I am so chuffed!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 25/11/2023 10:12

so cool when that happens! Well done @Sunshineandrainbow

chalkyc2 · 03/12/2023 10:00

Help...on a plateau despite good exercise and eating!! Need tips!

IncompleteSenten · 03/12/2023 10:33

Frustrating, isn't it?
I'm fighting for every pound at the moment!
First of all track and record every calorie. Make sure you've not let things slip a bit.
If you are honestly and accurately counting everything then get a bit more active.
Mostly just keep at it. Plateaus happen and you need to push through them as tempting as it is to say fuck it and reach for the bread!

Sunshineandrainbow · 03/12/2023 10:52

Keep going @chalkyc2
Are you calorie counting? Maybe you have reached a weight where the calorie intake needs to drop?

What sort of exercise are you doing? Could you mix that up a bit?

Most important thing is to keep going and not let it beat you. You may get a whoosh of weight loss.

chalkyc2 · 03/12/2023 11:31

Thank you am keeping going - it's just annoying as I don't feel like I'm doing much different!

I do either a 5/6k run, 30 min peloton or hockey training 6 days out of 7. I don't think I can do any more - my body struggles with this! All quite cardio based though.

In terms of food I don't really calorie count although I do portion out recipes appropriately etc and usually meals will be around 400 Cals? I don't eat any pasta/bread/rice or sugar - except some berries.

General day looks like - breakfast smoothie with natural Greek yoghurt and berries and seeds, lunch either a salad or soup or some left overs, and dinner is some form of protein and green veg. I also have a coffee with milk in the mornings and probably 2 cups of tea throughout the day.

I suppose some things could be quite high in fat - halloumi, avocado, olive oil for cooking. I'll watch for that. I'm hoping as PP have said it's just part of the ebbs and flows of losing weight and your body settling.

Thanks for encouragement!! I have 2.5 stone left to lose so I'm not very close to my goal yet!!

chalkyc2 · 08/12/2023 11:13

Mini update...slowly breaking through the 'stall' - which is what the American weightloss instagrammers call a plateau! Hit 80.0kg and 6 stone off. 2.5 stone to go WHOOP!!

Wow you are doing amazing.
If I could lose even half of what you have I will be over the moon.
I agree I don't think you could fit in any more fitness.

Thanks for posting your daily food diary, I find it really helpful to see what others have.

I have lost another pound which I am pleased about.

Had a meal booked for next Wednesday but it has been canceled which I a pleased about as I would have just though sod it I may as well eat badly all week and start again next week!

chalkyc2 · 09/12/2023 19:41

Social occasions and meals out are definitely tough @Sunshineandrainbow - I'm also quite glad to keep to boring old routines!! I find myself warning people ahead of meeting up that I'm on a plan and apologising for being the most boring person in the room. I also drive so there's no question about drinking.

Best just to keep strong and keep plodding along!

chalkyc2 · 15/12/2023 09:38

Anyone still around and holding strong amidst the Christmas parties and food isles??!?

I am. I've really valued this thread this year! Real life family and friends don't want to hear about diet struggles (and I don't really want to freak the teen boys who don't need to lose weight out too much with being obsessive!) - I'm already boring enough by not drinking!

I have a friend's drinks tonight. I'm going to take a bottle of fancy fizzy water with me and eat beforehand.

ShinyPikachu · 15/12/2023 10:37

I'm up and down at the moment but I've lost a good few pounds this year at least and hopefully next year will be better. I'm just trying to not put too much on over the festive period with all the meals out and drinks etc.

I'm still here. Still battling on. Had a few family issues that have taken my focus away but I'm still here.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 16/12/2023 08:53

117.9 kg weight today for me. That's a 0.8 kg loss since last weigh in and 22.1 kg loss since I started trying to lose it.

IncompleteSenten · 16/12/2023 09:29

Well done all!

I've been avoiding the scales recently because I've hit a slump. The gp changed my anti depressants and I'm feeling like shit.
I braved them today and I'm 21 stone 8. Barely any difference but at least not a gain.
