10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

Oh yes - another NDV - my knee high wellies now fit 👊😄

PreesHeath · 06/10/2023 10:46

Oh good NSVs!

I need to huddle with @Autumflower and @DuckWithOneWing

I am not really back on track after my blip. Head not in the right place, and struggling with consistency. Tend to have a day on, day off, Have had a small gain, but it should be easy enough to shift if I could fully commit again. But I just can't summon it up at the moment. I am managing to stay off the booze which has been my trigger for completely giving up in the past - that's good. But having stuck religiously to 3 swims, 2 gyms per week and 10k steps per day from May through to mid-September while on 800kcal per day, I am struggling to even get out of the door at the moment and averaging around 1500kcal. Averaging 2-3k steps per day at the moment and have not been to the gym or pool for more than a fortnight. I don't seem to have any mental energy or focus.

I need to focus on why I want to continue. From the little things (I would love to wear my wellies again!! very impressed @chalkyc2 !) to bigger things that I don't do any more because of my size - riding, tennis and things that I have never tried but would love to have a go at even at my advanced age (sailing, skiiing).

I climbed Snowdon a couple of weeks ago - recovering from that was why my exercise habit dropped away. I want to be able to do further climbs with my boys (8,10) but I need to build up my downhill fitness. Got badly caught out on the walk down - I remember thinking at the top that it wasn't as bad as I expected, but by the time I reached the bottom I was a complete wreck so I need to work on my quads and knees before we attempt any more mountains. The boys want to do Scafell Pike next 😩. You'd hope that would be motivation enough - but I seem to be going into hibernation mode.

chalkyc2 · 06/10/2023 12:02

Wellies for the win @PreesHeath!!

My weekly hockey has got me exercising more. The first week was hard and I aches for 3 days. This week was week 3 and much better. I think maybe it's having something to exercise for?!? Book that swim or gym class and put it in your diary maybe for the week ahead? It's so hard - and it's why I'm trying not to slip because I know I'll start making excuses to myself.

And I agree with the downhill being harder. And colder.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/10/2023 13:16

0.3 kg for me today. Quite happy to have lost anything given the amount of rubbish I've eaten this week.

Autumflower · 07/10/2023 13:56

I’m trying hard ,I had a 3 lb loss ,it’s nearly got in the next stone bracket down.I’m just thinking that every pound is weight off my knees .
one day at a time

Dirtylittlewolf · 07/10/2023 16:47

I’m planning to start fast 800. Had a private blood test and I’m pre-diabetic so I really need to do something. I’m even considering the gym which I loathe but I’m not interested in doing team sports and need to build some exercise into my life

chalkyc2 · 07/10/2023 17:03

Hey @Dirtylittlewolf - I defo recommend getting a peloton if it's at all possible financially - for me being able to do some decent exercise at home away from people at times that work for me has really helped.

AshamedOfMyWeight · 07/10/2023 19:13

I haven’t posted on here before but I thought I might as well as I am so unhappy with my weight 😩 I think I would be happy with losing 6 stone (although ideally it needs to be more). I have gained at least 4 stone (could be up to 6 as I can’t remember what I was before) since lockdown and having a baby just over 2 years ago. Since having my little one I just seemed to have kept gaining weight but I feel like it’s way past the time to blame it on ‘baby weight’ now… I am still breastfeeding but I know I don’t need to be eating as much as I do 🙈

ShinyPikachu · 09/10/2023 10:29

Well done on losses and NSVs!

Flowers to those still struggling.

Welcome @AshamedOfMyWeight

I've lost 1lb exactly this week and that puts me at the lowest weight I've been recently so hopefully I don't get ill again soon as that always seems to happen when I'm finally doing better!

0.1 kg loss for me this week. Grin

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/10/2023 10:52

Lost 1lb this week.
Current weight 18.1
Target 13 ish!
Feeling in a good zone. Long may it last!

Anyone have any nice plans for the weekend?

chalkyc2 · 14/10/2023 11:28

I'm faffing around on an (undeserved!) plateau!! 0.2kg down after going up by 0.5! Ignore me I'll be back on track soon - am chasing my 5 stone milestone which is taunting me by being so near yet so far....!!

ShinyPikachu · 16/10/2023 16:43

Well done @MrTiddlesTheCat and @Sunshineandrainbow

Those plateaus can be annoying @chalkyc2 but you've done brilliantly so far!

Another 0.4lb off for me. I'm now at the lightest I've been since the start of August before I had that horrible bug when I gained loads of weight afterwards and I was basically right back at my starting weight.

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 19st 4lb

It might be going slowly for me but it's going, that's the important thing!

Sunshineandrainbow · 21/10/2023 22:27

How's everyone getting on this week?

I lost 1lb.
So close to the next stone bracket! Hope this spurs me on.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 21/10/2023 22:31

I lost 0.2 kg this week. Feel like I'm losing it a gram at a time. But it's still going down and in 100 years I might finally reach my target weight.

ShinyPikachu · 21/10/2023 22:56

Well done @Sunshineandrainbow and @MrTiddlesTheCat - even a little bit adds up and it's better than gaining.

My weigh in is Monday but I don't think it'll be a good one this week. I've had the period from hell, one of the ones that makes me crave all the chocolate in the world even though I don't like chocolate much normally. Between that and the weather stopping me from going out walking I'm definitely expecting a gain this week.

OP posts:
Sunshineandrainbow · 21/10/2023 23:59

Absolutely a loss is a loss- good work!

Shiny, just take it for what it is on Monday. Those periods are simply awful and you just have to get through them the best you can.

chalkyc2 · 22/10/2023 06:23

I'm on a little half term trip away - eating as well I can but have had a few glasses of wine. Trying to make sure I fit in a morning run. This combined with a few work dinners last week and a family wedding next week probably isn't great news for weight loss but will be back on asap for a pre Xmas push!

Well done for all losses however small!

Sunshineandrainbow · 22/10/2023 20:04

Enjoy your break chalky and just do what you can.

ShinyPikachu · 23/10/2023 13:20

Enjoy your break @chalkyc2

As predicted I had a gain this week. 2.4lb which honestly considering the sheer amount of chocolate I went through isn't bad. Thankfully that's my period stopped now and hopefully I don't have another like that for a while.

OP posts:
Sunshineandrainbow · 26/10/2023 13:41

How's everyones week going?

I am trying to stick to my yog, banana and homemade granola for lunch (no breakfast) to give me a bit of freedom for the evenings once home from work.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 28/10/2023 07:55

0.4 kg loss for me. Still here chipping away.

FatLadyTriesAgain · 28/10/2023 09:42

Hello people, hope I can come back. I'm still trying! I got a bit distracted by other weight loss threads. It gave me a much-needed boost from time to time, but I was almost always the heaviest there and that gets a bit demoralising after a while.

I started here in February at 19st 03 lb and now I'm 17st 07 lbs. A loss of 24 lbs over eight months. I want to speed this up a little, and lose at least one pound each week. I could definitely move about a bit more, and keep a closer eye on the carbs. Intermittent Fasting is working well for me.

IncompleteSenten · 28/10/2023 09:59

I've hit my winter slump. Weight loss is sloooooow.

Start weight Feb 2023 33st6 lb

Current weight 22st 5lb
Total loss so far 11st 1lb

Target weight - for items to no longer get caught in my gravity and orbit me.

chalkyc2 · 28/10/2023 11:00

Slow here too but the scales tell me that this morning I've hit 5 stone loss! I've been fluctuating around 86/87/88 kg for the last 3 weeks!
