10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

10 st off 😲. Well done, that's amazing.

@Readinstead 2 kg down on holiday is also bloody amazing. Well done.

And welcome @curaçao

Hi everyone

Forcing myself to do an accountability check in! Have loved reading everyone's updates, well done on all the amazing losses and hang in there (with me lol) to anyone struggling with a plateau or kick starting.

I'm just back from a few days away and going to weigh in on Friday. I am also TTC number 2 - ideally I would be at least 2 stone lighter but I am taking all prenatals and additional folic acid in case it happens whilst I am this weight. In the meantime, it's back to porridge today. Welcoming in some autumn weather with soup lunches! I've also been lazy this week and purchased some easy ready meals for dinner to see me through.

Hope everyone having a lovely week so far

PreesHeath · 29/08/2023 12:08

Hello everyone, back from hols. 2 weeks from my last weigh in - 4lbs off. Not too bad considering but definitely slowing down a bit. Keep posting everyone, it’s great to hear everyone’s progress. Seeing everyone’s ups and downs makes the journey more relatable and I love the matter of fact, no judgement attitude on this thread. I firmly count getting into the right headspace (which can include posting “hello”) as progress even if it doesn’t show on the scales yet.

And good luck with Ttc @Peony2021 . Share your autumnal soup cravings. It was 40 degrees where we were in France so to return to cool and overcast weather is quite the contrast.

peonym · 29/08/2023 12:27

Ah thank you @PreesHeath - older and heavier so a little nervous but really didn't want to wait any longer to start!

Also congrats on your 4 stone marker - amazing!

peonym · 29/08/2023 12:31

Also my autumn soup cravings always start with leek and potato with a little crispy chopped bacon on top! Call it the Irish in me but everything tastes better with potato in it 😂

Always open to some new soup recipes (or even better, a not too salty ready made version in the supermarkets!)

Was tempted to try the "Naked" lunch pots - as a hot winter low cal relatively OK salt alternative.

chalkyc2 · 29/08/2023 14:12

Well to update - I held off the post hols weigh in until this morning. Just under 1kg down from pre holiday weight. Need to get properly focused now as my next goal is to get into some ski kit that I know I need to be 25kg lighter for.

I go skiing in 24 weeks time. I'm not sure I can do a kg a week for that length of time but will give it a go!!

Readinstead · 31/08/2023 09:29

Good Morning all.
Hope your ankle is better @chalkyc2 and congrats on the post holiday loss.

End of week 9 weigh in:
SW - 108.3kg (238.8lbs)
CW - 94kg (207.3kg)
2 week loss - 2.9kg
Loss to date - 14.3kg
Target for September: 4kg

I have a meal out on Sunday for my sister's 60th and a possible lunch out on her actual birthday but apart from that I should be able to stick to my routine 🤞- hope I haven't jinxed myself with that comment.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 02/09/2023 07:10

1 kg (2 lb) loss for me today. My goal for now is to be under 120 kg, so 4 more to go.

ISW 140 kg
RSW 133.8 kg
CW 124.1 kg

ShinyPikachu · 04/09/2023 11:43

Hi to everyone joining and well done on losses.

I've not been here because I had a horrible gastro thing last week. I lost loads of weight but I knew I couldn't trust it as once I was feeling better the weight would come back on.

Weighed in today though and that's me back to normal I hope!

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 19st 2.4lb

Total loss: 9.2lb

Let’s hope stomach woes are behind you now @ShinyPikachu It’s so much easier when you aren’t contending with illness on top of everything else!

Unexpected 4lbs off this week (nice to have a pleasant surprise for a change).

Readinstead · 07/09/2023 10:38

Hello all, nice loss @PreesHeath and hope you are fully recovered @ShinyPikachu.

I've had a challenging few days. The sprained wrist turned out to be broken so I've got a temporary cast until I go to Fracture clinic on Friday. On Monday I just said sod it after dealing with the dgc all day and took myself off on my own for a coffee and a doughnut then made poor food choices for the rest of the day including evening snacking. Tuesday the dgc were also 'challenging' but I did stick more or less to plan except fir birthday cake and wasabi peas (not together!). Got on the scales yesterday morning and unsurprisingly I had gained. However I gave myself a pep talk and got back on track. Coincidentally(?) 2 of the 3 dgc went back to school yesterday 😁.
I will post my stats later.

Readinstead · 07/09/2023 17:18

End of week 10

SW: 108.3kg (238.8lbs)
CW: 93.6kg (206.4lbs)
Loss this week: 0.4kg
Loss to date: 14.7kg

NSV- I measured my waist and have lost 3.5 cm in a month. Total loss so far 7cm. My size 18 jeans are comfortable again and I tried on a size 20 cardigan last night and it was too big. No one has noticed that I have lost some weight though 🤷

MrTiddlesTheCat · 07/09/2023 17:31

I might not have lost much this week. Special day in our little Swedish town, 120 years since our conditori opened. So they closed off the main road to show off the 120 m long cake they baked, and then gave out free to everyone. I had a slice. Then amongst all the stalls and activities I found a fish and chips van. The first proper looking fish and chips I've seen since moving here 15 years ago. I couldn't say no. I feel no guilt. (Although I might at weigh in on Saturday)

@Autumflower Welcome to the thread.

@Readinstead We all have days like that. The key is getting back on track as quickly as you can.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 09/09/2023 09:50

0.6 kg (1.3 lb) for me this week. I'm happy with that.

SW 140 kg
CW 123.5 kg

Next goal is to be under 120 kg.

PreesHeath · 09/09/2023 10:34

Well done @MrTiddlesTheCat it’s all progress. An 120m long cake sounds incredible.

Welcome to the thread @Autumflower .

I’m struggling today. Zero energy, constipated. Have loads to do, and all I want is to stay glued to sofa with a continual supply of tea and toast. instead I have to summon up enough will power to go to the gym, do loads of chores. Ugh. Followed by a family gathering where I will get rolled eyes for not eating. Am the only fatty in the family and I find it so embarrassing.

chalkyc2 · 09/09/2023 13:30

I feel for you @PreesHeath - I am trying to avoid all social events with food!! People find it super threatening when you don't want a massive plateful - at a family bbq this summer my mother KEPT going on about me not having dessert. I just needed her to shut up - like - I'd love dessert obviously, but look at me! Hope you get through it.

Tough week here. Back from hols and the first 5 days I appeared to lose 3kg. I've now been the same for 9 days despite keeping to plan. Dispiriting!! I'm 0.3kg off 4 stone loss (mixing my measurements!!) in total. 4 stone to go.

Also 4 stone loss you imagine would be dramatic. Well it's not. I can wear smaller clothes but also most of my regular clothes are just a bit looser. And as I've said before hardly anyone has noticed! I had planned to a 'back to hockey' session in a couple of weeks as I had hoped weight loss would allow - but I'm now feeling too embarrassed about what I would need to wear!! Hockey kit is not forgiving! So I might not.

chalkyc2 · 10/09/2023 11:43

Guys - update - the scales moved this morning!! 4 stone off.

PreesHeath · 10/09/2023 11:49

Well done!

SecondStarOnTheRight · 12/09/2023 17:14

Hi everyone!

Hope you've all managed to enjoy the warm weather last week.

Well done @chalkyc2 on reaching the 4st milestone, that's brilliant!

I'm not far off reaching the 2st milestone now, but really want to push myself once I do. When I've tried to lose before it was around that point where the diet fell apart and I piled it all back on and more.

SW: 21st 8lb
CW: 19st 10lb
LTD: 26lb

PreesHeath · 13/09/2023 10:26

Well done @SecondStarOnTheRight it all adds up. 2lb loss for me this week, but it's still all a bit of a struggle. Just coming up to the end of a 12 week programme, and would like to lose another stone and three quarters by Christmas, which should be doable if I can focus, but am finding biscuits and bread incredibly alluring right now, so who knows?

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/09/2023 08:33

@chalkyc2 that's amazing you must feel amazing. Are you following a particular plan?

I am currently on holiday and the plane belt just fitted, this is making me be extra careful while here with what I eat as I need to get home tomorrow!

We are bed and breakfast so skipping lunch and having dinner. I don't drink so no alcohol. I am hoping for only a small gain as have had a few Icecreams.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 14/09/2023 09:01

Hey can I join please,

SW 150kg
CW 135.5kg
TW 60kg

I've been losing weight for a while and in July decided it wasn't fast enough and should take it a bit more seriously. Since then I've lost 2 1/2 st. and I'm aiming for 5st by xmas.

I'm currently keeping a food diary and tracking my calories whilst also keeping my % of calories from carbs low (target below 40%) and my total sugar low (target below 25g).

It's currently going well enough but I find mental health is my big weakness, when my mental health is good I can lose weight, I know what to do. But if my mental health isn't good I can't actually do it. And as I'll be at this for the foreseeable future the community and mutual support would be very welcome.

Thanks

PreesHeath · 14/09/2023 09:45

Welcome @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk

I find mental health is my big weakness, when my mental health is good I can lose weight, I know what to do. But if my mental health isn't good I can't actually do it.

I hear you. This time round I've had to take a completely new approach and prioritising things that aren't necessarily directly to do with weight loss in order to stay on an even keel. Because I know that I can only lose weight when calm and in control and on top of things. As soon as things start to spiral then my focus goes, and with it my ability to stay on track.
