10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

Hello all, hope everyone is well and still feeling motivated.
MrTiddlesTheCat, we have the same scales. I line them up in the same place every morning, on the wooden bathroom floor, but I can stand on them 6 times in a row and get 6 different weights some days and others they pick a weight and stick to it!

End of week 7 weigh in.

SW: 108.3kg (238.8lbs)
CW: 96.9kg (213.7)
Loss this week: 1.2kg
Loss so far: 11.4kg

I am away next week with my Mum and 2 of the dgc at a Haven site. The on site food options are fish and chips, Burger King, Papa Johns and the Haven restaurant - wish me luck!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 17/08/2023 10:36

I've now found out that you have to recalibrate digital scales every time you move them. You do this by putting pressure on them to activate, then let them go back to zero and turn off, then you use them. I've been doing that all week and they appear to have stopped playing silly buggers.

ShinyPikachu · 17/08/2023 12:18

Well done @Readinstead and good luck at Haven. When we went to them I used to try and at least stay fairly healthy with breakfast and lunch (and tbh sometimes I just had brunch) so I didn't feel so bad with the dinner choices. And it's a holiday, enjoy yourself and deal with the rest afterwards.

Glad you got the scales sorted @MrTiddlesTheCat

Well done to everyone on another week - whether we've gained or lost or stayed the same we are holding ourselves accountable which is half the battle.

I have not had a great couple of weeks, but it's summer and I've been enjoying myself so I can't really be too mad about it. Really have to knuckle down in September ( we are away on hols next week).

Have lost 2 lbs since I started which isn't wonderful but absolutely better than nothing. Going to get my arse into shape post holidays.

Happy Friday all!

Sorry I've actually lost 6lbs which I'm actually happy about now that I've realised it lol, clearly forgot my starting weight! 🙈

MrTiddlesTheCat · 19/08/2023 08:21

1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) loss for me this week. 13.1 kg (28.8 lbs) from my highest weight. Well chuffed.

Readinstead · 19/08/2023 11:13

Congratulations *MrTiddlesTheCat *2 stones off!
I think I have a nsv this week, it's a little tmi but when I looked in the bathroom mirror this morning I could see my pants showing beneath my belly overhang. I don't look at my self in the mirror often so I can't be sure that my underwear wasn't visible before, but I am sure that my belly is starting to shrink.

Readinstead · 19/08/2023 11:16

I was trying to tag MrTiddlesTheCat in the above post but seem to have forgotton how to do it properly - sorry.

Day 31 and another 4lb loss. I've had a bad week this week in the sense of craving bad food but I'm starting to feel a bit less hungry overall with the calorie deficit. I'm pleased with the start I've made over this last month, but I'm really hoping that I can keep it up! Seeing the updates on here is definitely a boost to keep going.

SW: 21st 8lb
CW: 20st 4lb
Loss to date: 18lb
Current goal: 18st 0lb by 25/12/2023

Yesterday was weigh in day and I'm another 2lb down, although I ended up having a Dominos for tea last night!

This week l've felt a bit dissapointed in myself, for letting myself get to this stage. I've tried before to lose weight but ended up giving up after so long. I'm bad at sticking to things, even to such as hobbies I give up after 6 months to a year! Obviously I've felt like this before, but this week has hit me hard.

Here's to another week and hopefully another 1lb or 2 down!

I understand what you mean and I am disappointed I am same weight as this time last year. I realised this yesterday when I looked back at the date I was last on a plane as I am once again terrified I won't fit the seatbelt.
So another year of thinking constantly about food and dieting and here I am.

You weight loss is fab, keep going tapping away at it.

Yesterday I had a good day food wise and was under calories. Even when faced with cream tea at work I declined. This is becuase I am on a mission to lose 7 stone in 3 weeks before the plane ride ha ha!!!

Here's to another good food day!

I have my first flight in nearly six years coming up, terrified about the seat especially as its long haul economy. I was ok last time but I'm heavier now.

I really hope you have a fantastic holiday!

If only we could wish away the extra insulation overnight. 😂

Sunshineandrainbow · 24/08/2023 07:35

When's your flight @SecondStarOnTheRight
I messaged easy jet and they said I can take my own belt extender, but some of the reviews say they don't fit easy jet so I am not sure on what to do. Maybe I will just ask for one if needed.
Pleased to say I have stuck under my calories this week so just need to keep going.

Today will be a test as working all day till 5 and then working 7 - 1am. So being tired in the evening and there is always biscuits around I will have to take an extra dose of will power.

Have a great day everyone.

SecondStarOnTheRight · 24/08/2023 20:14

@Sunshineandrainbow flight isn't until the end of November thankfully, so decent enough time yet! I'm going to get intouch with the airline nearer the time.

Hope you've had a lovely day! 😊

chalkyc2 · 25/08/2023 07:32

The end of November is loads of time - and a good goal?

I've been away on hols for 12 days. I've been mostly pretty controlled - but I have had a couple of small beers/glass of wine every night. I'd been completely off all booze, carbs and sugar for 4 months before this! I have also had some bread every day (tried to at least get wholewheat types but we are in France!) as we've been doing packed lunches etc and just too complicated to keep doing salads. But - I have not had anything sweet and not had any other drinks apart from water (and aforementioned booze!). It's our last day today and I thought I might treat myself to an ice cream before getting back onto it in earnest on Sunday!!

I usually weigh myself every morning - I don't like that I haven't been able to and anxious to see what the scales say on Sunday 😬😳. I know what I was just before I left - 23kg down and 30 to go. Let's see what the damage is - will update!!

PreesHeath · 25/08/2023 08:07

Similar here. I’ve tried to stick to the programme but have stopped weighing and measuring everything. No booze this time - booze is one of my downfalls so don’t trust myself yet. Luckily my partner is teetotal so no temptation on that front. Pastries are a different matter. He and kids have put away gazillions of pain au raisins etc since we got here. Unfair! It’s very hot here (was over 40 yesterday) so I hope walking in the heat will help. I’d add swimming in the lake too, but I’ve been mainly plopping about to cool off rather than swimming. Missed last weigh in on Monday. Hoping for a small loss overall on Monday.

Good luck @Sunshineandrainbow even a bit of progress between now an November will make a big difference.

chalkyc2 · 25/08/2023 08:22

Yep @PreesHeath my kids the same with pain au chocolate!! I've held strong but I suppose it's inevitable that I will have put some on with the booze and bread!

Sunshineandrainbow · 25/08/2023 08:30

@chalkyc2 so envious, I love France. You must enjoy some food there it's the law! If you get straight back on track any gain will go away pretty quick.

I have had a great week food wise. And drum roll I may if brave enough go swimming tonight for the first time in many years.
I wanted to do aqua aerobics but it's £8.00 and seems like a lot of money for 45 mins or maybe I am just tight!!!

MrTiddlesTheCat · 26/08/2023 09:10

Holidays are a nightmare when you're trying to lose weight. Good luck to all of you trying to keep strong.

I've lost another 1.8 kg this week (just short of 4 lbs).

That's amazing!

My Dd took my scales to her dad's to weigh holiday suitcases. I weighed on different scales today that I have never be on so not going to record it as it said no loss!

I know I have stuck to my calories this week and I am proud of that!

Another week and another 1lb down, which takes me to 1.5 stone. Its been a boring week for me, the only excitement being work sending me a laptop (I WFH) to replace a tower PC so I can finally have a bit of my desk back ready to start my second year at the Open Uni.

Got family coming to stay this week coming, I'm expecting to have a few meals out so I'll try to be sensible!

I got back from holiday yesterday. No alcohol and only 2 ice creams! When I weighed this morning I was 2kg down on my pre-holiday weigh in. My mum was in charge of food on the first 2 days and I worked out that I had just under 700 cals on day 1 and under 1000 cals on day 2. Mum is 87, 7st 9lbs and eats like a bird, I took us out to lunch for the rest of the holiday so had a more realistic calorie intake on those days but mum made us a snack at dinner time whilst I fed the dgc. I also walked a lot more than usual as I tripped and fell on Tuesday (on the path in full view of the outdoor pool, so not embarrassing at all) and sprained my left wrist leaving me unable to drive. My wonderful dh had to get 3 trains and a taxi down to the holiday site so he could drive us home! My wrist is still knackered and the bruising is spectacular but not as painful so hopefully on the mend.

chalkyc2 · 27/08/2023 07:49

2kg down?!? Amazing @Readinstead !!

Sorry about the wrist though. My holiday accident caused me to do less activity - was getting on a roll of little holiday jogs in lovely countryside then on third day ran in a thunderstorm and sprained my ankle. So no more holiday jogs for me and a fat swollen bruised ankle!

Oh well. Morning of reckoning. I did have alcohol but just one ice cream. Putting the weigh in off...
