10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

Ah I wish I'd found you guys sooner 🙂 I've been losing weight now for 16 months. I'm 7st down and want to lose about 5 more. I've had a read through some posts, you all seem so lovely and supportive!

chalkyc2 · 21/06/2023 19:43

Wow @SlashBeef 7 stone!!! You have to tell us more!!

I'm 2 stone down, 6 to go...

Readinstead · 22/06/2023 23:33

Thank you Sunshineandrainbow, Dirtylittlewolf and ShinyPikachu for the welcome.
My digital scales now have batteries, but I was in a rush this morning so didn't weigh myself but have just done so for a comparison with the old scales which show 16st 11lbs. Unfortunately digital scales show 108.3kg or 17st and 3 quarters of a pound.

I will count my start weight as 17st 1lb/239lbs
First target 15st 9lbs/219lbs ie to lose 20lbs.

I know I shouldn't do it, but I am a daily weigher. I intend to do my 'official' weigh in on Thursday mornings.

I'm still not 100% committed to weight loss at the moment but seeing 17st plus has made me a lot more focused!

Readinstead · 26/06/2023 09:49

Congratulations SlashBeef that is an amazing loss!
I am now in the right mindframe for losing weight and due to losing a couple of pounds my bmi has dropped below 40.
I will weigh in on Thursday. Hope everyone has been having a good week.

ShinyPikachu · 26/06/2023 10:41

Well done on 7st so far @SlashBeef That's amazing! Smile

2 stone is amazing too @chalkyc2 Smile

@Readinstead - no judgement here if you want to be a daily weigher. It's something I often do if I'm really struggling, it helps me more than hinders me as I can see my natural cycles more easily IMO so you do whatever helps. Well done on dropping that BMI too. Smile

I lost 2.7lb this week. I've only been semi-counting calories but trying to stick to the 14:10 intermittent fasting I was doing before and that's obviously helping. Although with the hot weather we've had I've maybe been sweating some of it off. I can only hope, I hate hot weather so that would be the only reason I would like it. Grin

First weigh in and I am pleased with the result but it is odd weighing in kg rather than lbs. I decided to use kg, at the moment, because my first target is to be below 100kg.

SW (22/6/23) - 108.3kg
CW - 104.8kg

My usual pattern is to lose 6-8 lbs in the first week and then settle into 2-3lbs per week for the next few weeks which will taper to 1-2lbs per week after that, IF I manage to stick to plan!
Dh's birthday is at the end of July and Dgs1's is mid-August so at 1kg per week I am aiming to hit my target somewhere between those dates hopefully nearer to the 1st date but 2nd date is more likely.

WeirdPookah · 29/06/2023 11:11

I'm still around, I'm now down 53lbs since January.

Thats after re-losing 4lbs gained on holiday, then we have a whole bunch of celebrations coming up and just had a birthday celebration too. So trying to be really mindful all but the day of a celebration, which seems to be working ok.

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/07/2023 09:24

Wow @SlashBeef that is amazing loss. Please share how you have achieved this and share any top tips.

I feel I am back the game. I am now working on my own in a building and so not surrounded by treats other people bring in. I have been eating sensibly and enjoying it.

Today's weight 18.3

Readinstead · 06/07/2023 09:34

End of week 2 weigh in:

SW - 108.3kg
CW - 103.5kg
Loss this week - 1.2kg

I have also measured my waist and will be checking that at the beginning of each month.
I didn't realise, or more realistically refused to think about, how often I ate out for breakfast or went through the drive through. Having a black coffee whilst various family members eat McD's/Greggs/Ikea etc is saving me ££'s as well as lbs, but it is so hard at times and feeling virtuous only goes so far!

chalkyc2 · 06/07/2023 11:14

Boom well done @Readinstead

I'm end of week 11. 17kg down, 37kg to go.

Marathon not a sprint I keep having to remind myself.

caringcarer · 06/07/2023 11:19

My BMI was 60. I've been on Ozempic for 3 1/2 months now and lost 3 stone. Weight loss has slowed down but BMI now down to 55 so some progress made. I'm trying to walk in the evenings but I have a bad back so I can't walk too far. I've upped my water drinking. I've cut my carbs even more. Finally got moving again this week after almost 2 weeks of being frozen on the same weight.

Readinstead · 06/07/2023 15:18

Hi chalkyc2, I hadn't worked out the loss needed in kg but to get to 10st (to reach a healthy bmi I need to be below 10st 6lbs) I needed to lose 44.44kg - so about 40 to go! Congrats on your loss so far 😀

Caringcarer, 3st in 3.5 months is amazing - Congratulations! Also plateaus are horrible so a huge well done for persevering and I'm glad the scales are moving again.

IncompleteSenten · 09/07/2023 11:08

Hi. May I join in?

I started in February weighing nearly 34 stone and being a size 40 and today I am 24stone 8 and a size 32.

I've got more to lose than what I've already lost and could use some support and of course give plenty in return!

PreesHeath · 09/07/2023 11:58

Oh wow @IncompleteSenten that’s amazing. It’s a long journey, but you’ve made phenomenal progress, so if you hit any bumps in the road, hold on to that.

Hello everyone. I find this thread very inspiring. I have so many failed attempts under my belt, but I need to hold on to the belief that it is possible to succeed in this battle. My stats are

SW 20 stone 2
CW 17 stone 9
GW 10 stone 6 (BMI 25)

Annoyingly I had a blip so have only just relost the 1 stone 6 I regained having initially achieved this CW last September. Onwards though.

Have found prioritising sleep over exercise this time has really made a difference to my outlook. I feel much more resilient and less vulnerable to temptation (wine, bread, pizza, crisps) when I’m well rested, overall I probably get as much if not more exercise as I have fewer fails. I’ve accepted that forcing myself to get up at 5.45am to fit in exercise before work doesn’t work for me. I now start work a little earlier, finish a little later and try to fit in a walk, swim or gym session during a longer lunch break. Doesn’t always work, and it’s no big deal if it doesn’t happen so I don’t beat myself up.

Appear to be heading towards a STS this week, which I feel a bit down in the dumps about, but not to the extent that I’ll deviate from the programme (as I have done in the past when faced with disappointing scales news)

WeirdPookah · 09/07/2023 16:15

@IncompleteSenten that is fantastic progress. How do you feel with that weight off your body?

I am still at 53lbs down since January.

I didn't lose anything significant this week (0.2lb which I won't track) but considering that including 3 heavy days off plan, I am counting as a win.
I have more celebrations coming, our wedding anniversary, delayed fathers day and a birthday, then in a week or so, another birthday! Really trying to eat low calorie around these days so I can enjoy them. But going to have to accept staying the same on the scales I think.

IncompleteSenten · 10/07/2023 08:28

Thanks.

I can definitely move around better even though I've a long way to go.

Readinstead · 13/07/2023 09:52

IncompleteSenten that is an amazing loss, congratulations!
PreesHeath keeping going after a gain is really hard, I am seriously impressed. I don't think I have ever managed it beyond a couple of lbs gain. I have lost 5+ stones twice but once it starts going back on that is it til I hit 17 stones!
WeirdPookah it sounds like you have a very sensible and realistic attitude - enjoy the celebrations, stick to the plan on other days and accept the sts. I am going to try to emulate this! I tend to be a bit neck or nothing - celebrations close together and the plan would be out the window on the days in between.

End of week 3:
SW - 108.3kg
CW - 102.1kg
Loss this week - 1.4kg
Loss to date - 6.2kg

I am very close (0.2kg away) to losing my first stone.

Diedre44 · 15/07/2023 02:29

Hi all,

I haven't updated in a while.

I've so far lost a total of 3stones 4lbs just another 2lbs and I'll be back to my pre-covid lightest in over 20 odd years.
I can't tell you how much happier I am, not just in my physical self/health but just having this weight off already has improved my mental health and anxiety tremendously. I'm down to a comfy size 18 (not squeezed into) and bought a pack of size 16 knickers today in preparedness. I've lost 5.5inches off my waist, a whopping 7.5 off my arse/belly and gone down to a 38F from a 40H. My apron belly/overhang/gunt seems to be lifting too. I'm also convinced I've lost a roll of back fat.

I'm getting my steps in up to around 17000 a day from what was never more than 3000, doing kettle bell work outs 5 nights a week.

Annnd I actually managed to cut and paint my own toenails this week admittedly still a slight struggle as my boobs get in the way but that's a win for me. Plus my bath towel finally wraps around with no gapping triangle.

Well done everyone, we can do this. We will do this.

SW 11/03/23 - 20st 8lb
CW 14/07/23 -17st 4lb
Interim GW 15st 8lb
Optimal GW - 9st 7lbs

Pandermonium · 15/07/2023 08:10

Well done everyone!
So many amazing losses.

I'm in the midst of moving house so haven't been focused on my eating, which means I've fallen back into bad habits. Not eating through the day, snacking on junk in the evening.
Honestly things are so stressful right now I'm not sure how I can sort my eating out.
Think I'm going to take a few weeks to get moved and hope that will combat all the upset, then hop back on the wagon.

Will keep following you all as you are so inspirational. See you in a few weeks 😊

DuckWithOneWing · 16/07/2023 21:05

I haven't updated for a while and I'm still hovering around the same weight. Unfortunately Zumba has finished for a summer break and I can't fit Pilates around my new job so I'm not doing much exercise at the moment, and I like wine far too much.

Readinstead · 20/07/2023 09:38

I have lost my first stone and am now in the 15s!
It's been a bit if an odd week this week - I have stuck to plan but my weight went up a little over the weekend and Monday but has started moving down since then. I have drunk more water this week but have needed to get up it the night, which is irritating.
On the plus side my jeans are fitting more comfortably even though I still look exactly the same.

End of week 4:
SW - 108.3
CW - 101.1
Loss this week - 1.0kg
Loss to date - 7.2kg

Thetimeishere · 21/07/2023 18:43

Well done @Readinstead and all the the other great losses. I’m a stone down but a bit stuck so the push is on. I’m eating fairly low carb and two meals a day. Most days I start with berries, Greek yogurt, nuts and seeds and have meat/fish/egg with vegetables for dinner. Occasionally I have wine or dark chocolate. I’ve bought some of the seriously low carb wraps. They are lovely with tuna/mayo or fajita chicken. We have 4 weeks of School holidays left and I’d love to be 17st by then 🤞.

SW 18st 7lbs
CW 17st 7lbs
GW 11st 7lbs

ShinyPikachu · 24/07/2023 11:46

I lost this thread but found it again now!

Welcome to those joining and well done on losses.

I've been loosely following 14:10 fasting but that's been it since I last posted. I've lost 3.2lb since then and I'm actually at the lightest I've been for over a year. Fingers crossed this time I can get down even more.

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 19st 1.3lb
Loss: 10.3lb

I'm just a couple of weeks away from attending a wedding and I'd love to hit 1st off by then so fingers crossed. Smile

Just spent a wonderful 40 mins reading through all the comments - I love this supportive thread! I would love to join if you don't mind!

I'm in early 30s with a toddler and have always been fit and healthy until a traumatic event in my mid twenties. I went from around 11 stone to now 18,4. I did manage to get down to 14st for my first pregnancy, and felt wonderful. But postpartum was a witch and here I am, heavier than ever. I'm maybe slightly morbid about the whole thing - death is almost constantly on my mind as I feel like I'm just a ticking time bomb. Anyway, enough of the sadness - I am determined to lose the weight and get back to the "good old days". I have found that I really need a heavy kick start so going to do a very low cal diet for 6 weeks and then slowly increase it a little so I can maintain.

So impressed with all the losses so far and even more so, the accountability and support. Looking forward to contributing to this lovely group!
