Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Could I join please?? I haven't weighed myself but will check tomorrow. I had a baby 5 months ago. Lost roughly 3 stone since then but have about another one to go to get back to pre pregnancy weight.

Im breastfeeding so struggling to find the right balance, but what I'm doing now isn't working to shift the last bit!

I used to exercise a lot but find it a bit harder with a baby (other than long walks) any advice or ideas would be great.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 02/11/2022 06:02

Checking in and also sending many hugs and get well soons @ImALittlePea what a horrible time you've had, focus on healing and getting your strength back the weight loss can wait!

milkfromthesleepycow · 02/11/2022 06:27

@ImALittlePea syrup of figs! Swear it's like drain cleaner

Waving a welcome to @crivit and @PumperQuarter. Sounds like you both have solid plans

I had one wine gum last night! One! Now that's an NSV 😂 realised I just didn't want anymore

DH has magnanimously hoovered up the Halloween stash with the kids. Heads down now and I'm not baking mince pies until next month

Can I join please. Started Slimming world last week- combined with a sort of mindful eating technique which has helped me feel better but not shifted the weight.
starting: 14 stones 11
goal: 11 12

first weigh in tomorrow

Lizsmum · 02/11/2022 08:36

Hi everyone and huge getting better wishes to the poorly people.

SW 15st
CW 11 st 11lbs
Loss of 1lbs this week

Target for November is just to stay in the 11stone area. Losses at the moment are minimal, just a pound a week on a good week, and there are a couple of tricky social/holiday events to negotiate during the month. So setting a goal for a loss seems at the moment too ambitious. Doesn't mean I wont be trying though!

Your children and husband are stars @milkfromthesleepycow. How kind of them to eat all the sweets.

fallfallfall · 02/11/2022 10:42

In Vancouver, home in 2 days! I’ll catch up then and hop on the bandwagon.

RadFad · 02/11/2022 11:34

Hi everyone, 1.5lb gain this week.

I will continue with MFP cal counting and increasing walking.

Aiming for 1.5lb loss this week.

CrimsonAlligator · 02/11/2022 12:13

Afternoon all and welcome to the newbies. I didn’t weigh myself this morning, so no stats from me today.

I had another successful day yesterday - I came in under calories and managed to row 10k. I’m hoping to repeat that today. I already have a 12k row in the bag, so it’s just the calories I need to keep an eye on...but that’s usually the hardest bit! 😄

Aiming to stay the same sounds very sensible to me @Lizsmum. It’s much more motivating to set a realistic target and exceed it, than an ambitious target that you’re never going to meet.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 02/11/2022 12:50

Checking in again to start the month well.
Day 44
SW:143.2
CW:136.6
GW:126
6.6lbs
Not geat but not bad and November will be my month!

Lizsmum · 02/11/2022 13:50

Thank you or the affirmation @CrimsonAlligator . It does feel a bit like admitting defeat to say I'll aim to stay the same - and of course I'm secretly hoping to do better. I still haven't set a final target but Id really like to be overweight rather than obese! 😊

MirandaWest · 02/11/2022 14:03

Hello :) Despite knowing it's November I'd forgotten about this thread.

Didn't quite manage to lose the 2kg I was hoping to do in October but that is probably because I haven't been calorie counting and have had more sweets.

Running going really well though. Need to keep being a bit stricter with myself and will be even better :)

SW 76.7kg
CW 68.5kg
TW 65kg

Not sure what my November target is but to lose something anyway 😀

Am glad the hour's gone back as means it's not as dark first thing in the middle for a little while, which is my favourite time to go running.

giatta · 02/11/2022 16:24

WW
1.7 kg gain since the SW in October 😭, really want to leave October behind.
SW: 84.1kg
CW: 85.8kg
Mini goal for November: 83kg

Cloudberries123 · 02/11/2022 21:04

@giatta Lots of people have had a not-great autumn so far in terms of weight loss! It's been busy and people have been ill, away etc. Several people said they were really buckling down for November. You can too if you want 💪🏻

fallfallfall · 03/11/2022 04:11

Spent a pretty penny on an amazing winter parka! Definitely need to ditch 5-10-15lbs depending on the vacation damage.
I’m hoping it’s a lifetime piece.

milkfromthesleepycow · 03/11/2022 06:02

@fallfallfall picture? I do love a cosy winter coat!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 03/11/2022 06:52

@CrimsonAlligator well done on the rowing, you might even influence me to buy a rowing machine at some point!
@giatta onwards and up(down)wards for november!

I didn't weigh yesterday but did this morning and am down to 66.3kg thats over 1kg in two weeks but I think a fair wack of that has been because I have been running round like crazy and not really eating properly or looking after myself. Consequently I spent the weekend in bed completely wiped out so back to trying to reaffirm healthy habbits starting with enough water and fruit and veg
I first became overweight by not looking after myself doing to much and then just eating junk because I had no energy or time to cook properly so glad to have recognised this before its gone to far. DH as also been a sweetheart and I got a serious talk on how I don't have to say yes to everything people ask me to do, I can tell my volunteer role I can't do more hours, the neighbours that I can't watch their kids etc.

fallfallfall · 03/11/2022 07:12

@milkfromthesleepycow good till -20C!
www.mackage.ca/collections/womens-downs-and-parkas/products/adali-bx?variant=42704166879477
made in Canada (a rarity), lifetime guarantee (of course only against manufacturers defects).
It has two layers, an internal short (at the waist) section then the outer.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 03/11/2022 08:13

@fallfallfall That is a beautiful coat! I love the trim!

Lizsmum · 03/11/2022 08:47

I've got parka envy now @fallfallfall

Cloudberries123 · 03/11/2022 09:15

That's a beautiful coat fallfallfall. It's good to see you posting again, though I'm sure you'll need a few days to 'land' after your holiday. And you're really dedicated, so any holiday weight will come off no problem.

An early start for us today, been out for a long walk with the baby and dog, and now having a big breakfast which will see me through till a late lunch. The next few days might be a bit less nutrition-focused as we've got relatives visiting, but that's OK as I will be really active during those days and frankly not have time to endlessly stuff myself!

Two of the relatives visiting are my mum and sister, both of whom are morbidly obese at the moment. We all have quite complex issues with comforting eating, I've realised. My mum keeps saying she needs to lose weight but hasn't done anything about it. But I have been telling my sister about my weight loss and she has started losing weight too and going to the gym again, which is great! Just goes to show that you can't make someone make good choices, they have to be ready themselves.

Breakfast - 3 egg omelette with cream cheese and cheddar. Coffee

Lunch - Alpen and yoghurt, apple

Dinner - tbc but probably something less healthy 🙃

CrimsonAlligator · 03/11/2022 09:19

A good winter coat is priceless @fallfallfall . I’m sure you’ll get years of enjoyment out of that one!

@Allthegoodnamestakken it’s good that you’re recognising that there’s a pattern and that your DH is looking out for you. Are you planning to reassess your responsibilities/ commitments?

I had another good day yesterday. I ate a little bit more than originally planned, but still came in under my calorie goal so that’s ok. The “drawback” of doing a lot of exercise is that, on some days, it makes me incredibly hungry. I got rid of ambitious calorie targets for that reason and just aim for a deficit, no matter how small.

CrimsonAlligator · 03/11/2022 09:31

The psychological side of weight loss (and weight gain) is so complex @Cloudberries123.

I put getting started off for a very long time as I had somehow convinced myself that it’d be too hard and that I’d probably fail at it. I only managed to break that thought pattern by telling myself that I wasn’t going to go on a diet, I was just going to eat healthy food and do a bit of exercise and see what happened. I was lucky that in my case the weight just fell off me, which made me realise how wrong I was to have all those negative thoughts in the first place 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hopefully your mum will be inspired by your and your sisters weightloss. Sometimes just seeing that something is possible is enough for others to give it a try too 🤞

TheRealHousewife · 03/11/2022 09:34

Good Morning All

The threads moved a lot since my last post! I didn’t WOW this week what with weighing for month end/beginning.

Well done to everyone no matter the result 👏 The shift in temp is hard to navigate food wise when our bodies just crave carbs! Keep going and you’ll soon find your groove! 👍

We have another virus in the household. Feel rubbish and shattered. OH was coughing all through the night so we both didn’t get much sleep for the second night in a row.

@fallfallfall Ooo I love a Parka! Enjoy your last 2 days in Vancouver!

You’re welcome @CrimsonAlligator 👍Well done on your 10k. Awesome 👏

Thank you @Cloudberries123 😊

@CassandraBarrett Getting into a lower number bracket is motivating. Well done 👍

Pleased to read you’ve turned a corner @ImALittlePea 🥰

@MercuryRising Sounds like you’ve made some positive changes and achieving small milestones each day. Well done on increasing step counts and stair climbing 👏 Every little helps!

Welcome to the thread @crivit Sounds like you’ve had a tough time! Baby steps if you don’t want to annoy your physio 😬

@PumperQuarter Congratulations on your baby! Well done on getting the walks in. Could you add in some high intensity when baby asleep. 2 to 3 minute bursts.
Also use hand weights/bands etc. YouTube is your friend for all manner of exercise 👍

@milkfromthesleepycow Thats a great NSV 😅Shows restraint and a change in your taste pallet 👍

@Nishky32 Welcome to the thread! Keep reading and posting and any questions just ask. Lots of helpful advice from the lovely ladies who are happy to share.

@Was126orbustandmaybebust 6.6k is great progress. You’re getting there 👍

Welcome back @MirandaWest im pleased you found us again.

@giatta I hear your disappointment. It’s tough when we gain but on the bright side you’ve acknowledged it and intend to reverse the trend rather than let it drift and turn into a much bigger gain.
👍

@Allthegoodnamestakken Sounds like you’ve got a great husband there who has certainly got your back. Here’s hoping you allow yourself some self nurturing going forward.

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone soup. GF Nairn crackers. Apple.
Meal 2 - Chicken tray bake, carrots, cabbage & broccoli. Walnuts.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise - No formal exercise today.
