🍁 LOSE IT! November 2022 🍁 🎄8 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Good Morning Everyone 😊

I really wished the sun would show its face, just for a little while. ☀️ Damp dark misty & murky here again ☁️

2 wins I’m regularly achieving is declining the Christmas chocolates that OH keep opening and the lattes/cappuccino coffees he keeps making. In all fairness it hasn’t felt like a sacrifice and I’ve said I’ll have a Latte at the weekend if I genuinely fancy one. If I don’t I won’t 😬 I really do like my black decaf.

Hi @SanFranBear Great you’re getting on with packing! Exciting times! Also a great opportunity to declutter (not saying you’re cluttered) and start afresh. Well done on dd doing a dummy run on bus ride. So organised!

@fallfallfall Well done on your loss!

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken stir fry.
Meal 2 - Minestrone soup & gf bread.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise - None as not 100% or even 75%. Feel very fatigued … I’ll be pottering doing stuff.

Hi all, especially fallfallfall good to see you and read that things are headed in the right direction.

RealHousewife I'm so impressed that you are finding ways to decline/delay those less nutritious things. I've hit a bit of a wall, one of those areas where I realise my relationship with food isn't very healthy... Yesterday I bought a 4-pack of doughnuts, and instead of having one and sharing the rest, I had 3 by myself, then felt guilty and imagined DP making a comment about me being greedy (he never would, it's all in my head). So I ate the 4th and hid the packaging. Hmm.

Later on, I was popping to the shops and asked if he wanted anything. (Knowing he would probably say pudding) He said maybe a pudding and I got Guu pots which we shared one of. Lovely. But I've just eaten the second one myself with a cup of tea, feeling guilty again. First of all it's like if he asks for it then I'm not responsible and it doesn't count?? Then this thing with secret eating. Definitely not healthy and it always crops up when I'm trying to be healthier.

Anyway long story short, it's not been the best day nutrition wise, plus I also have a dehydration headache. But good on exercise and general mood thanks to sunshine!

Breakfast - 2 eggs, 1 slice sunflower seed toast, small cup leftover lentil soup. Tea

Snack - banana

Lunch - pasta, chicken, bbq sauce. Tea, Guu chocolate pot

Dinner - sausage, mash and veg I think

Good strength to everyone else this week, especially those who have various food issues 😕

ImALittlePea · 29/11/2022 19:19

I can definitely relate to days like that @Cloudberries123 and you're right, it's definitely worse when you're trying to be healthy. You have to find a balance of healthy and less healthy food that works for you, so you can then have one doughnut without going for the rest, for instance. For me, it's crisps - if I opened a "sharing" (hah) bag, I will invariably eat the entire thing to myself. I'll kid myself that I won't, by decanting smaller portions into a bowl. But I'd just keep going back for more bowls, until the bag is gone. I no longer eat crisps in the week (well, very rarely), so that if (when) I do this at weekends, it feels less like self-sabotage. And actually, I do this far less at weekends now; the appeal is much lower. It certainly isn't a balance that works for everyone, and I'm not fully sold on it being the healthiest way of eating, but for me, for now, it enables me to stick to healthier choices in the week and cut a bit more loose at the weekend.

Today's meals:
Lunch - we went for a late brunch with SIL, I had a breakfast wrap. Sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown and cheese in a wrap. Delish.
Dinner - homemade chilli with rice and a sprinkling of cheddar
Snacks - a few brews, and I've just had seven fruit pastilles (counted as they were the caloried portion - 91 counted for the pleasure)

So a medium day, healthy choices wise, I think.

TheRealHousewife · 29/11/2022 21:06

Hi @Cloudberries123 Your account of the donut dalliance made me giggle 🤭 Very funny! Mostly I can avoid being tempted. Last week was the exception when I fell into a tub of chocs 😬

@ImALittlePea I agree you’ve made somewhat healthy eating choices today! Homemade chilli sounds lush 😋

well i made the vegan caesar salad...okay here's the verdict. the tofu cubes were fine, i'm happy to try that simple marinade and add them to other salads/cooked veggies.
the dressing was blah. i have a good authentic dressing recipe and see no reason to change that.
dear son in law upset me and led me face first into desert. despite that frustration dh and i went to the city's indoor track and i put in a nice 60minutes of exercise.
the calories in the pastry was a major set back to what could have been a decent day.

tomorrow will be undoubtably better.

milkfromthesleepycow · 30/11/2022 06:22

WOW I've put on 3kg- I think I've broken November!!
My diet hasn't been stellar but it's not been that bad. Hmmm will concentrate on what I'm eating this week and try again next week

Cloudberries123 · 30/11/2022 07:51

97.9 from me here this morning, which isn't thrilling, but I suppose it's only 200g in the wrong direction from last week.

SW: 100.4kg (September)
CW: 97.9kg
Mini goal: 95kg

'Broken November' milk that made me laugh! You'll get back on it don't worry!

Your exercise yesterday sounds really good fall

RealHousewife Yes, we'll add Donut Dalliance to Éclairgate...

I might have to try something like that LittlePea otherwise I will get further into deny/binge mode. I'm just a bit hesitant to put any sort of 'rule' in place eg crisps at weekends, because I know I'll thinking about it all the time and then break the 'rule'. So fun, unpicking food issues...

Wishing all WoWers a good one today!

Lizsmum · 30/11/2022 08:00

Oh @milkfromthesleepycow I think it might have been me who broke November and you were caught in the aftershock. .
Several days away from home and a subsequent relaxation have resulted in putting on 3lbs.
Current weight - 12 stone

TheRealHousewife · 30/11/2022 10:01

Good Morning Everyone 😊

WOW - November loss = 1.3lbs. Not too shabby. For December I’d settle for a STS weigh-in come January 1st 2023 😬

@fallfallfall Sorry to hear your sil upset you. Family members/people in general can cause so much hurt. Not always intentional, but upsetting nonetheless ❤️ Great to read you got a solid 60 minutes exercise in 👍.

@milkfromthesleepycow Seeing a gain is always unsettling, especially if you’ve been goodish! Remember to look at your downward trends. In comparison to last November where are you? I’m a stone down on this time last year. Also where you are in your cycle can falsely affect weight (not fat gain).

@Cloudberries123 You're down overall on the last couple of months, so we’ll done on that front. You know what you need to do although I realise it isn’t always easy.

@Lizsmum You know why the wheels fell off and have braved the scales! Which is better than burying your head in the snack cupboard and carrying on. It’s never easy getting back on track as increased sugar/carbs have woken the snack dragon 🐉. Try to re-set your head space and remind yourself of your ‘why’ in losing weight. Feeling better? Looking better? Looser clothes? Increased well-being? Improved health markers? All 5

@Lizsmum @milkfromthesleepycow You didn’t break November; life just got in way which it tends to do from time to time. It’s tough at the moment so it isn’t surprising! You are both still checking in and continue to show commitment to positive self care. You both deserve to reach your goals ❤️

Hi @wannadisc0 sts is frustrating but I’d say hang on in there. Keep doing what you’re doing and as you say you haven’t gained! It might take the tiniest tweak to get things moving again 👍

Smugsmaug · 30/11/2022 12:49

Ah thanks for checking up! I’ve been sticking to it, dipping in and reading this thread to keep me on track ☺️
The scales seem to be moving v slowly, so I have to keep reminding myself I feel better, more energy, and slowly starting to fit back into my normal clothes. Still have about 16-20 pounds to go, would be amazing to get a chunk off that before Xmas, and change the trend of continual weight gain!

TheRealHousewife · 30/11/2022 14:45

Hi @Smugsmaug youre welcome! Nice to read you’re still following. Frustratingly the nearer we get to goal the farer it seem to be. Just keep going 👍

ImALittlePea · 30/11/2022 14:54

Totally hear you on the setting yourself 'rules' thing @Cloudberries123 I needed to break some bad routine habits and reliance on bread and crisps for lunch every day, so it made sense to me. To start with I definitely over compensated at the weekends, but it didn't take long for that to be less of a thing, and mentally I now feel more capable of making better decisions on weekdays and at weekends. But as we all know - and why these threads have worked wonders for me and many of you - we are all so different when it comes to what we need and what the best route for us is. I just wanted to share with you in case it helped, as I can totally relate to the donut dalliance

Had lunch out with DH today, very naughty burger and chips, went for sparkling water and then an oat latte, but we had a nice country stroll after. Unlikely to have much for dinner tonight as a result, though.

As ever a HUGE cheers from me to everyone who has weighed today. Especially those who didn't want to because it's HARD to stick to things in autumn. It's so empowering to see everyone continue to share every week.

Sorry, just rushing off to school so no time to tag everyone.

Smugsmaug · 30/11/2022 20:05

@TheRealHousewife appreciate your kind and uplifting posts ☺️

Nishky32 · 30/11/2022 20:27

having stayed the same the week before I lost 3lbs last week. Have had a few off plan eats this week so am expecting a gain. HOWEVER I fastened a pair of size 14 jeans this week- a couple of weeks ago they were nowhere near. Not sure I could sit down in them but definite progress

starting: 14 11
current: 14 2.5

goal: 11 12

ImALittlePea · 30/11/2022 21:29

YES! @Nishky32 well done 🎉

Just clocked your meme @TheRealHousewife - willies to you too 😜😂

TheRealHousewife · 01/12/2022 08:05

Good Morning Everyone 🎄😬

@ImALittlePea Burger & chips 😋 lush! You’ll have walked it off 😬Willies 😅😅😅 It’s just one of those words that make me giggle.

You’re most welcome @Smugsmaug 😊 These threads and all you ladies keep me going too! So thank you 🙏

@Nishky32 Well done on your progress to date! Good NSV too 👏👏👏

The LOSE IT! December 2022 is now live!

ImALittlePea · 01/12/2022 09:28

@TheRealHousewife it was so delish! Unfortunately last night we had a dalliance 👀 with some prosecco and beige nibbles 🤦‍♀️ we aren't together much over the weekend so decided on a midweek date night. Lovely, but no doubt I won't see what I want on the scales tomorrow.

Anyway - over to December!

TheRealHousewife · 01/12/2022 18:57

Hahaha @ImALittlePea … you and your dalliances … you do like to live on the edge 😅.

Nishky32 · 01/12/2022 19:42

thank you- the support on this thread is lovely 🥰
I gained a pound but I know exactly why -new week begins!

TofuonToast · 07/12/2022 10:58

WoW
Didnt wow last week as just wasn’t in that headspace. But then… headspace clicked!
SW 11st 4lbs
Cw 10.10lbs
TW 9.5 st

So what changed? Well - good honest calorie counting. I’ve just been lying to myself really. So I’m recording EVERYTHING and although I haven’t set myself a limit my rule is everything is counted. This has had the effect of making me very mindful about my food/choices etc. I’ve been hitting 1400 to 2000 calories a day. Very happy.

Even if I slip I will record it. I have to be honest with myself from now on.

TofuonToast · 07/12/2022 11:00

I think a big moment was when I got in late afternoon/early evening I was peckish so had some crisis. Mindlessly eating them until gone. Forced myself to check calories and I was like ‘well, that’s dinner!’. I’d have normally beat myself up and then had dinner! 😵‍💫
