Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Just checking in, I have had a terrible food week, I've basically lived on chocolate and McDonald's, so I'm dreading the scales when I finally get home next week.

TheRealHousewife · 17/11/2022 08:55

Good Morning All

I braved the scales today to find I’m the lowest weight since October 2020. @ImALittlePea & @Cloudberries123 Thank you. I think you lost weight with your recent illness too and I agree it’s not the ideal way. Still have muggy head, intermittent shivers/hot sweats and upset stomach etc. Testing neg for covid. Marginally better than yesterday. How are you today @ImALittlePea ? I hope the dizziness has passed!

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Thank you. You’re doing great! Practically half way there! Currently we are weight twins 👯‍♀️ as I’m hovering around 134.5lb. Still carrying around half a stone I’d like to see the back off but not busting a gut to get there really. Sensible accurate nutritious food intake all the way. Accurate being the word otherwise I get weight creep.

@Allthegoodnamestakken Please don’t be hard on yourself. Sometimes our hormones/sugar take the reigns and we are helpless in our defence. When we have sugar it just leads to more sugar/cravings. Hard to break when out of routine and in unfamiliar surroundings. You’ll get back on it once you’re home I’m sure.

I spent some time watching Handmaids Tail. Im on season 3.
I had to turn it off yesterday as it was so graphic and unsettling.
Nonetheless it still draws me to watch it and might watch another episode this afternoon. Anyone else watched this series?

@TofuonToast Hi are you new? Sorry if I haven’t welcomed you before. Although I might have forgotten in my feverishness 😬 Well done on making a start … I noticed your start weight wasn’t as high as you thought it would be. Do you have a plan or just cutting down in general.

@fallfallfall Sounds awful for you. I really hope it improves quickly! Sending positive vibes. Thank you for the link, much appreciated. The ladies on here love a tasty recipe. If struggling to chew what about protein/veggie smoothies?

@SanFranBear Weather here is also dark, damp, wet and misty murky. The most yucky of yucky weather. Very weathery!

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Hake fillet, carrots, peas, small new potatoes (out of the garden) 😬

Exercise - Don’t be silly 😜

TofuonToast · 17/11/2022 09:47

@TheRealHousewife Hey I’m new! I hope you feel better soon 💜💜. Weight wasn’t as high because I’ve been on an unofficial health kick plus couldn’t really eat much when had covid last month! My plan is to be accountable here mostly! 1.5 stone to go.
Meal plan
Breakfast - zilch (don’t really like eating early)
Lunch - vegan omelette and salad est 700 cal
Dinner - Roast est 700 cal
Teas/coffees 100 cal
Raw choc 200 cal
Exercise - 5k run. 2 hour walk (split in half)

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 17/11/2022 12:29

Hi to everyone and sorry for silence!

I’ve been suffering with anxiety and slight work issues but getting this sorted.

Not completely stopped watching weight and exercising but taken foot off pedal!

will try to update soon!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 17/11/2022 12:31

@TheRealHousewife - I also watch The Handmaid’s Tale and on current series. But agreed it’s a bit bleak and depressing and not sure which season latest one is!

Cloudberries123 · 17/11/2022 13:36

Just popping on to read everyone's updates and will weigh in when I've got a spare minute alone later 😵

I've deliberately not watched The Handmaid's Tale RealHousewife as I read the original novel and that was quite graphic and bleak enough for me! It still gives me chills sometimes.

ImALittlePea · 17/11/2022 16:25

Definitely a far from ideal way to get there @TheRealHousewife but a silver lining nonetheless. Glad you're improving, slowly. I'm feeling fine today thank you 😊

Re Handmaid's Tale - we watched the first series but DH didn't want to go any further. We do have two TVs in the house so I could watch it while he watches sports, but I prefer to cosy next to him with a book. I might venture on with it, as it's an intriguing premise, but a dark one I agree!

Sorry to hear about the anxiety and work issues @GonnaGetGoingReturns we're all here whenever you're ready to post ❤️

Mentally I've been a bit fed up today. Everything feels a bit of a relentless slog. But trying not to let those voices get too loud!

Meals:
Lunch - same as all week, plus some cheddars and had greek yoghurt with pomegranate to follow
Dinner - loaded pasta & pesto (bacon, broccoli, peas and green beans) with a dusting of parmesan and some garlic bread
No snacks - yet!

TheRealHousewife · 17/11/2022 16:33

Good Afternoon Ladies

Hi @GonnaGetGoingReturns I am so sorry to read about the anxiety. Anxiety really sucks! The feelings of doom and despair that can accompany anxiety are really debilitating! Wishing you well!

Thank you for clarifying @TofuonToast . I’m also a no breakfast kinda person as I can’t face food in the am. Usually I eat my first meal between 12:00- 13:00 and I usually finish my last meal by 19:00. This pattern of eating seems to suit me best.

@GonnaGetGoingReturns @Cloudberries123 TBH I’d not even heard of the Handmaids Tail until relatively recently and did not know there had been a book. Yes it’s quite bleak. I am 3/4 through the 3rd season don’t know the end of the last season. I live in hope Gilead and it’s barbaric regimes is overturned and they all get the chance to live happily ever after. I suppose that thinking is a reflection of how I am in RL and I’m very much still naive and think the best of everyone.

The being fed up feeling has turned into a major attack of the hormones 😏 I'm trying to muster every ounce of willpower to stop myself from eating an entire box of celebrations/all the crisps/a whole block of cheddar/many wines. I KNOW I'll feel better tomorrow morning if I don't succumb but aaarrrggghhh raaaaage! DH disappeared a little while ago to wash up for me and then scarpered off to football 😅 so I have an hour to myself to try and snap myself out of it. Must remember - weigh in tomorrow for me! Do not self sabotage!

Cloudberries123 · 17/11/2022 20:13

Let's do it together LittlePea! The baby's in bed and it's prime time for telly and nibbling... I've obviously been totally unable to make a weigh-in happen today, but will have a few moments between drop-off and going to work tomorrow morning. Another WoF it is!

TheRealHousewife · 17/11/2022 20:30

Come on you two @Cloudberries123 & @ImALittlePea you can do it! Or rather not do it … succumbing to the snack dragon 🐉. You are right in that you’ll feel virtuous and wonder what it was all about come the morning when you’re free of the sugar crash headache 👍

OP posts:
TofuonToast · 17/11/2022 20:32

Todays Log (plan in previous post)
5k run ✅
2 long walks ✅
Mid morning snack 225cal (starving after run 🙄)
Omelette/salad 600 cal
Roast 700 cal
Choc 400 cal
Tea 100 cal
Shit. I’m not going to lose weight am I? Help!

Have you heard of Surfing the Wave meditation! It’s brilliant for things like this. I just need to remember to use it myself!

ImALittlePea · 17/11/2022 21:01

Well, I compromised with myself and had a cup of decaf tea and three little celebration chocs. So not a disaster, but I suppose counts as slipping a touch. BUT it's certainly taken the edge off both my mood and my cravings, and honestly if it impacts that much on WoF tomorrow then so be it!!

You've got this @Cloudberries123 💪

No I haven't heard of that @TofuonToast but sounds like it's worth a look!

Morning!

STS over here. Fairly happy with that, especially given my recent whoosh down was largely illness related and I'm think I'm relatively close to my goal weight (I do need to work out a plan for goal, don't I?!)

Out for dinner at a local independent pizzeria tonight (they do the thinnest pizzas ever and they're sublime) but our table isn't booked until late-ish so need to have a sensible lunch that will see me through until then without extra snacks if I can 😬

ImALittlePea · 18/11/2022 07:33

Oops - hit post too soon!

Just wanted to finish with a Happy Friday!

SanFranBear · 18/11/2022 07:40

Morning everyone... sounds like the snack attacks are out in force this week as I have been so guilty of eating for eatings sake - I'm blaming the weather (I'm blaming it for everything at the moment as I dislike it intensely!) It's weigh day and I managed to STS which I'm not convinced I deserve but I am not knocking it:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 68.6kg
November GW: 67kg

I seemed to have got out of the right mindset which is frustrating as was there for so long. I'm also out tonight but not sure I want to drink as I've got so much to do and a hangover will make it horrendous! Plus, if I drive will save me pennies which I need to do at the moment (bought a washer/dryer this week for our new home - so excited that I might be able to avoid the whole house being full of washing that Just Won't Dry!) Worried about my energy bills though as I'm not allowed to take my fixed rates with me when we move...

Anyways - will have some eggs for breakfast and stay away from the snacks! Emptying the freezer as well at the mo which has meant some interesting combinations but very satisfying!

I best get DS up and my day started - apologies for not name-checking everyone but you're all ace!

Cloudberries123 · 18/11/2022 07:54

Morning all, SO, not what I wanted with a 500g gain on last week but I'm going to be practical and counter the disappointment by remind myself that I've been doing an hour's proper out-of-breath walking every day this week. Plus definitely not managing to drink enough water for that. So potentially muscle gain and water retention.

SW: 100.4kg (September)
CW: 99.7kg
Mini goal: 95kg Some day I'll get there!

Good job not going overboard LittlePea I stayed snack-free last night after (quite a big) dinner.

Good strength SanFran eggs for breakfast here too. Finding the mindset is 90% isn't it.

Looks great Tofu if you are normally that active every day then it might be a reasonable amount of energy. All depends on the quality of the food you're eating, how nutritious it is.

TheRealHousewife · 19/11/2022 08:53

Good Morning All

@Cloudberries123 Well done on the walking each day 👍 So beneficial!

@ImALittlePea @SanFranBear STS is great! Better than a gain 😬

@SanFranBear That sucks about not being able to take your fixed rates! Energy costs are such a worry at the moment.

Menu
Meal 1 - Spanish omelette with side salad.
Meal 2 - Home made chicken curry and cauli rice.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Exercise - Not this weekend. Hopefully get walking vids on starting Monday.

TheRealHousewife · 19/11/2022 13:37

Lunch - Red onion, red pepper, new potato, butter bean, chorizo tortilla & green side salad. It was very tasty.

@TheRealHousewife That looks amazing!

Decent eating and activity today, if a bit weekendy.

Breakfast - leftover Indian takeaway (made a healthier choice with a veggie curry) with a wholemeal wrap

Lunch - sweet potato and salad in another wrap

Dinner - tbc but hopefully lots of veg and salad as that's what I'm craving. Several coffees and lots of water.

Happy weekend to everyone x

TheRealHousewife · 19/11/2022 19:44

Thankyou @Cloudberries123 . It was super tasty and there is 2 portions left. Ideal snack if needed or more likely a light lunch on Monday. You’re menu is right up my street too! I’m similar in that I crave vegetables the same way as some crave sugar 😅. I love my veg! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Cloudberries123 · 20/11/2022 20:08

Evening all, hope you're having good weekends.

Bit of an odd one today, I've been up ages so feel like I've eaten loads but I don't think it's actually that excessive.

Breakfast - café coffee and breakfast wrap

Lunch - two small lunches about 3 hours apart, due to baby reasons 😋 cheese and sauerkraut in wrap, mini Soreen banana bread, actual banana, tea

Dinner - lamb roast. Now this I did eat a lot of, and it has been delicious!

Feel like I need to adjust my eating again but not sure how. I might go further into the Intermittent Fasting but don't want to stuff myself in the eating window to make up for fasting. I just need to figure out how I'm going to consistently eat less than I usually do, so I actually do lose weight.
