Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Happy end of the weekend everyone - been a bit quiet as had another quite drunken Friday night that took a little to recover from and then been packing/throwing lots of rubbish out!

Been better on food today but proper stodged out yesterday to combat my gentle hangover - bacon baguette and jam doughnut for brunch and then takeout fish and chips for tea... sooo delicious!

I had so many lovely compliments at my party on Friday that it's underlined how much I want to remain healthy and slimmer. I feel so different from this time last year so need to get back on it... although STS might be my goal for the next couple of weeks as I have so much to do to get this house packed up! The dark is also not tempting me to gp out walking which is such a shame as I loved my summer... can't wait for the sun to come back!

I’m onboard! Planning to plan.
three light meals available for the day, I need to; drink my WATER, and start back into exercise.
weight seriously up…

Cloudberries123 · 21/11/2022 15:59

Planning to plan, yes @fallfallfall 💪🏻 You'll be back on it in no time. I'm finding I do have to plan food and exercise, as 'winging it' has got me where I am.

A freezing day with torrential rain this morning. After a busy morning at work I came back to a poorly baby who needed my attention, so have only just had lunch at almost 4pm and narrowly avoided a carb and fat whirlwind. The weather really does it to you, doesn't it!

Breakfast - omelette of 3 small eggs. Coffee

Snack - banana, Nakd bar

Lunch - 4 Ryvitas with houmous. Small bowl of porridge with applesauce and peanut butter

Need to catch up on water. Pork medallions with some kind of potato and veg later 😋

MercuryRising · 21/11/2022 16:11

Coming to confess my sins... I haven't been great over the last week, so was relieved to have stayed the same.

Back on it from tomorrow morning. I need to get back in the habit of posting on here for accountability too.

fallfallfall · 21/11/2022 16:54

@Cloudberries123 100% weather related here. Otherwise life is fine; boobs got the all clear and don’t need outside interference for two years 😉. Mouth must be healed, as it’s feeling okay, although I’ve not brushed the area involved (not suppose to for 3 more weeks). All three offspring have checked in.
0853 and….fasting, water well underway and 15 minutes fitness walking done. Oatmeal planned.

ImALittlePea · 21/11/2022 17:09

That sounds like a great weekend @SanFranBear and what a boost for your motivation!

@Cloudberries123 I loosely follow 16:8 I/F and don't find I overeat in the eating window to compensate. In fact, since dropping breakfast (which I've never enjoyed anyway) I've found I snack much less. I'm not religious about it though, and obviously everyone needs to follow their own rhythm. I hope the baby is feeling better soon.

Glad to hear your results were good and you're recovering well @SanFranBear

We had a mostly decent but relatively indulgent weekend. However one of our quite new rescue kitties hasn't been well for a few days, and we discovered today that he could be quite seriously ill. Devastated, dreading telling the children, and veering dangerously towards eating and drinking my emotions. I didn't know how bad it was when I had my on-plan (normal) lunch, but dinner of jacket potatoes, beans and cheese may turn into a Chinese takeaway and a bottle of wine.

Really thought our luck had turned, but apparently not 😥

Allthegoodnamestakken · 21/11/2022 17:35

Hello all, it's been a crazy week and I feel like I've lived on chocolate and fried food really need to find a solution for eating healthy when away for work.
I attended the wedding on Saturday and felt fabulous in my new dress and bright coat so that was a win. However I've gained 2kg in the last 2 weeks so really need to get back on the wagon!

SanFranBear · 21/11/2022 22:24

Oh Littlepea - I really hope your little kitty isn't as ill as thought... they steal such a large part of our heart! If you've dived into a Chinese, I don't think anyone would blame you and I'll virtually clink a glass to you!

fallfallfall · 22/11/2022 03:21

@ImALittlePea positive thoughts for the kitty.
not a poor day; i logged my meals, drank my water, and as of 7:15 pm only need to fit in 15 minutes of exercise. ate within the 8 hour window. BUT the nuts in the pantry were eaten by the handful. that needs to stop. but all in all much better than the past week.

ImALittlePea · 22/11/2022 08:54

Thanks @SanFranBear @fallfallfall it's a horrid situation, we've only had them about five weeks but they slotted so seamlessly into our lives. We don't see it ending happily, he's got what we think is a large tumour close to his heart and the sad truth is that it's looking like our insurance won't stretch far enough to treat it. Having said that, he's improving since having various meds yesterday so I'm trying to hold onto some hope (or living in denial, who knows). Last night we ended up having chippy tea, and I did have the wine, but I'm not going to let this situation wreck the entire week on the food front.

Today's plan:
Lunch - cup-a-soup and accompaniments
Dinner - hunters chicken, baked potato and greens

TheRealHousewife · 22/11/2022 09:40

Good Morning All

Hi @fallfallfall How are you? Has the soreness gone! Pleased to read your boobs got the all clear!

@ImALittlePea sorry to read about the kitten being unwell. It’s surprising how quickly we attach to them. Everything crossed that the kitten can be saved.

I think there must be something in the damp air as I fell face first into a tub of chocolates 😳 Very unlike me but I’ll admit it was utterly delicious 😬😋 Water, water, water to flush 💧

Menu
Meal 1 - Guacamole and vegetable crudités & gf crackers.
Meal 2 - Beef stew (no dumplings) Pecans. Orange.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Hand Weights
Session 2 - Bands

OP posts:
SanFranBear · 22/11/2022 16:10

That doesn't sound too hopeful, LittlePea - but you never know... if he's already responding to treatment, could be a really good sign. Sending gentle strokes and virtual dreamies!

It's definitely the weather, RealHousewife - I'm finding it so hard to focus at the moment. Just about sticking to calories but when I've had a blowout, I try to be a bit lower the next couple of days to mitigate slightly and not being successful on that front so far this week. Ah well - STS is my goal for now... and I was out for lunch today and made a delicious, healthy choice of prawn noodle salad - so tasty!

Glad to hear you're healing well, fallfall - and from the 'nuts' talk, am guessing you're moved on from the puree stage!

Sausage and mash here tonight - nice and easy and makes a change from all the freezer diving at the moment (although found some tuna steaks for dinner last night which were lush!)

TheRealHousewife · 22/11/2022 20:08

Hi @SanFranBear Yes I agree it was definitely weather induced munchies 😬 Sausage & mash is real comfort food 😋

@ImALittlePea Thinking of your kitten 🐈‍⬛ Hope the little one is ok.

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 23/11/2022 06:01

Another mix bag kind of day; water and exercise squeezed in.
food choices due to guests coming over for lunch too calorific.
but on a positive note an absolutely tiny “window” all my calories were consumed between 11am and 3:30pm.
@TheRealHousewife, I’m simply avoiding chewing or brushing on the graft spot. Totally pain free but I don’t want to disrupt the healing. I’m suppose to eat purée for 4 weeks. but I’m rather lazy, dental soft works fine.

milkfromthesleepycow · 23/11/2022 06:43

WOW got a loss! Back down to 66.2kg so 3.5 lbs off. Very pleased but I ache so much from the gym on Monday! Lots of protein for the next week and hoping my muscles repair

Sorry to hear about kitty @ImALittlePea. Hope they continue to improve x

We'll done on the soft diet @fallfallfall. Your handling it all like an Amazonian!

Good luck for WOW all

Cloudberries123 · 23/11/2022 06:56

A big loss here too this morning, 1.7kg, super happy about that as I've been really making an effort despite life stuff.

SW: 100.4kg (September)
CW: 97.5kg
And mini goal of 95kf suddenly seems in sight!

Got to dash but have a good day all!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 23/11/2022 07:38

Some really struggles and amazing weight loses on here and I am still crawling along to goal. the food is going well but the weather is horrendous here so I am not feeling motivated getting out and about so settling for some home stuff which is better than nothing. Sooooooo...
Day 64
SW:143.2
CW:134.4
GW:126
8.8lbs down and 8.4lbs to go.
I have 17 days until DD2 comes home so I better get at it!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 23/11/2022 08:37

Morning All
sorry to hear about the kitty @ImALittlePea thinking of you, its such a horrible thing seeing something sick and knowing theirs nothing you can really do but hope
@fallfallfall glad you're doing well on the soft diet!
@Cloudberries123 That is an amazing loss well done!

I weighed in at 67kg flat this morning so my gain from my recent trip was about 1.3kg. Trying not to be disheartened but not feeling great about it as I found that kg from 67-66kg really hard to loose the first time around.
Meals today are
Lunch- Halloumi salad
Dinner - Sweet chilli chicken wraps with roasted veggies

TofuonToast · 23/11/2022 08:49

Non official SW 11.3
Official SW 10.13
cW 10.12
GW 9.7

20lbs to go. 😱 But even one lb every week means by the end of spring I’ll b skinny! I’d take that!

Not really deprived myself in the last week. Just made a few sensible decisions and lost a lb. I expect if I pushed myself a little more I’d lose quite a bit.

My target for this week is to cut out all but one milky tea/coffee and have herbal instead. This leaves me the spare cals for a bit of raw chocolate if I fancy it.

Keep busy and use said busyness to distract myself.

Get on here for the tv munchies snack attack and wail for support!

Do something fun rather than eat snacks if not hungry.

But my key non negotiable is this. Base meals and snacks on max nutrition. Piles of veg and salad to bulk out meals. Fruit for the mid afternoon snack attacks! Plenty of water.

🔥

ImALittlePea · 23/11/2022 12:50

Well done to everyone who has lost or not today - continued accountability will keep you on the right track!

I'm still wobbling off track myself. Yesterday's lunch ended up being a toasted bagel with cheddar, sweet chilli sauce and lots of salad. Dinner was on plan though, and I'm sticking to my no weekday wine rule for the remainder of the week (inc last night!)

Today I was planning on the cup-a-soup lunch, wasn't particularly hungry either, but DH wanted a bacon sandwich and I couldn't resist having one myself. I'm blaming yesterday's bagel on him too; I've already told him that he'll get the blame if when I gain this week (semi-lighthearted 😅)

Dinner is going to be spaghetti bolognese leftover from a recent weeks batch cook. No garlic bread for me but will have a big side salad.

Thank you for the kitty well wishes. He's back at the vets again today - third day in a row - for another scan, more meds and fluids. Unfortunately he's dropping weight rapidly, even though we've been able to get him to eat a lot more since Monday. The vet tried to offer me some hope last night but it's really not looking good. Our 8yo is devastated, as we all are, but it's his first close loss and I think it's made all the worse by the fact we've not long had these gorgeous pets. It is just so bloody unfair. We've just got to see what today's scan shows and go from there, though 😿

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 23/11/2022 16:14

I have no idea whether I've put on or gained weight recently - probably the latter!

Currently staying at DB/SIL's house looking after 4 year old DNephew, lunch yesterday was baked beans on toast. Dinner was Higgidy spinach and feta (I think?) quiche quarter slice with boiled potatoes and Paw Patrol pasta shapes in tomato sauce. Grin Snacks yday were some chocolate thing (Lily O'Briens) and a small piece of Cornish cheese and 1 x Quorn mini bite. Breakfast was oatsosimple with blueberries.

Exercise has been walking to and from car and in and out of DNephew's primary school but did get a 30 minute walk through Victoria Park to shops and back.

Breakfast this morning has been either 2 or 3 crumpets with olive oil spread.

Lunch was large Morrocan couscous salad with feta (sainsburys) and 2 Quorn mini bites. Dinner - no idea - whatever SIL cooks.

I actually got my contract terminated abruptly on Monday morning - I sort of had an idea this was coming but no idea it actually was. So far I've had anxiety, brain fog, seen doctor last week re underactive thyroid/HRT for menopause and all the latter has affected my work. Plus I had my final crown to cover my complex and costly root canal treatment. I spent most of Monday morning very upset and didn't eat my blueberries, muesli and Greek yoghurt. Walked and got train to work and back - so approx 40 minutes walking in total but back on myself.

@ImALittlePea - so sorry to hear about your cat not being well and the scan - I do hope he recovers, what's exactly wrong apart from what you've mentioned and have you posted on The Litter Tray? They're great there. Also, I know you mentioned a tumour and your medical insurance maybe not covering it but try to get unbiased advice from the vet and see what they say and if your budget stretches to it (outside insurance). Sometimes, no matter how hard they try to treat them it's just not worth it, no matter how much money you throw at it, but I've heard stories of cats coming through after treatment, I mean it is a personal choice though... I suppose you'd still have the other cat which is a comfort? Big hand hold for you. hug
I've had 4 cats in total since my 20s - the first 2 were brother and sister and fairly healthy apart from the white one being attacked! The second one sadly died just after his 5th birthday of brain encephalitis/epilepsy - took him to The Super Vet who tried but it was never looking good. My current cat adopted me over lockdown and her owners actually let me keep her and handed over her vet medical card etc.

@SanFranBear - colder weather makes you reach for carbs - but my mum told me something about carbs are better for fighting infection/more weight etc? Not sure how true that is...

@TheRealHousewife - well done on all your foods, exercise and also the tasty Christmas treats (chocolate covered strawberry Santas?!). Don't feel bad about giving into things!

At the weekend before having aubergine and cheese pizza (out) I had a third of Tiramisu there but also wolfed down an entire large pack of Cheese Doritos and most of the hot salsa. Had some of the pizza for lunch the next day. Then an entire large pack of Pop Chips, Fruit pastilles tube and Starburst. And a flapjack... All I can say is it's the weather and menopause - I don't feel down as such but don't feel me. Did have 20-30 minute walk up to pizza place and back... Plus 1 tequilla cocktail which I couldn't drink and a sort of G&T cocktail.

Cloudberries123 · 23/11/2022 16:58

So sorry about your contract Gonna I really hope things look up for you soon!

And LittlePea ongoing good vibes for the kitty and family...

Food and exercise really good today. I'm including a celebratory doughnut in that. It was delicious and I enjoyed it to the max! A positive WoW.

Breakfast - egg and bacon sandwich, coffee, doughnut

Snack - apple, banana

Lunch - leftover chilli con carne with tbsp yogurt

Snack - raspberries and dark chocolate

Dinner - tbc as DP making it!
