Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! October’s Thread here’s Novembers Thread.

🎄8 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right in! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead with a few tweaks here and there and it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding. We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

1lb gain this week. Considering the fact I've had either off-plan wine, bread, chocs or crisps every day this week, I'll take it.

Sadly, kitten is back to vomiting whenever he tries to eat. His breathing is looking more laboured too, and he just looks quite forlorn. Vets are seeing him shortly before lunch, and have a feeling that may be it. But will see what they say.

Cloudberries123 · 25/11/2022 18:20

Sending more comforting vibes to kitty and kids. What a lucky boy to have been included in your family, even for a short time.

It's difficult to find 5 consecutive minutes to update here recently! Baby and I are settling well into our new morning occupations, but it means SO much more organisey stuff on my plate 😰 Our shopping delivery this week arrived with half the essentials missing because I'd been doing it in snatched moments while playing with the baby on the floor!

The upside of being so busy is that exercise and food have been really good overall. I suppose that shows a pattern too, that I eat too much when I haven't got enough to do or think about?

Breakfast - 2 fried eggs, 2 slices sunflower seed toast, coffee

Lunch - Alpen, yoghurt, banana, apple, tea

Dinner - Chinese sticky drumsticks, veg, basmati & wild rice. Cake for a celebration and definitely at least one more cup of tea 😋

Hoping everyone is having an OK weekend. LittlePea thinking of you and kitty.

Been a very weekendy Saturday here with upside down schedule and meals. Enjoyed a pretty healthy breakfast but after a stressful car ride (long story) we decided to get pizza. Which was fairly yummy but has left me feeling really sluggish and overfull.

Lots of water tonight, and a lighter food day tomorrow!

ImALittlePea · 27/11/2022 11:32

Our kitty was very sadly put to sleep on Friday. Absolutely crushed. I've had no focus on making sensible choices, which I know is understandable. Giving myself the weekend to comfort myself but also making what I hope is a robust and healthy meal plan for the week ahead so back to it tomorrow.

I hope everyone is well and having a happier weekend.

fallfallfall · 27/11/2022 15:56

I know it hurts @ImALittlePea virtual handhold from overseas. You gave him the best possible life even if short his days were filled with love.

TheRealHousewife · 27/11/2022 16:16

Afternoon All

@ImALittlePea So sorry to read your update. You did the right thing as you knew the little fellow wasn’t going to recover. You and your family loved him so much and gave him the best in the time you had. The Queen is quoted as saying ‘Grief is the price for love’ and she was right. 😢❤️

Lizsmum · 27/11/2022 16:28

So sorry @ImALittlePea. What a hard decision to make. But you know that you gave him the best short life that was possible.

ImALittlePea · 27/11/2022 18:29

Thank you all. It's been saddest time, not helped by how young he was and how short a time he was with our family. But it's a part of life, an important lesson, and we feel very lucky to have had the few weeks we did. He definitely was very loved and happy.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 27/11/2022 19:13

Sorry to hear that @ImALittlePea x

Cloudberries123 · 27/11/2022 20:07

Very sorry to read your news LittlePea You did the most loving thing, which is prevent him suffering more. Completely understand the urge to comfort yourself this weekend but also have a plan in place for the week - something to hang onto when other things are wobbly. Look forward to seeing cup-a-soup, Dairylea triangles and veg on your lunch menus 😜

Today has been another very weekendy day foodwise, with a lot of white carbs in the form of sandwich, muffin, teacake and oven chips. Also had more caffeine than usual so feel a bit spaced out. But it's been such a lovely day that I feel really positive tonight, and am looking forward to my more nutritious daily food tomorrow.

Wishing everybody a nice, stress-free, organised, rested, etc start to the week 😁 (going off to pack nursery bag now)

LadyWithLapdog · 27/11/2022 21:34

Sorry about the kitty 😢

ImALittlePea · 27/11/2022 21:51

Hahaha @Cloudberries123 I'll do my best not to let you down 😁😂

Allthegoodnamestakken · 28/11/2022 07:06

@ImALittlePea so sorry to hear about kitty! they will have had so much love in there short time from you and your family though and that is something to be comforted by.

I had a bit of a fried food filled weekend again, Think I might actually start taking a packed lunch with me to events for work and pleasure as although we get great restaurant food here for some reason any catered events are very much bacon and eggs for breakfast and fried chicken for lunch.

TheRealHousewife · 28/11/2022 09:28

Morning all. Slept terribly, resolve is low, but I'm trying to knock my brain into shape to start the week as I mean to go on (as much as is feasible anyway as DH is off and we have a couple of lunches out planned). Trying to work out meal plan now. I'd love to not gain again this week, would love even more to knock last week's lb off, but I'll take a maintain. C'mon Pea!!

TheRealHousewife · 28/11/2022 10:49

I’m cheering you on @ImALittlePea . You can do it! 📣❤️👏

Today's plan has planned out as follows:

Lunch - cup-a-soup 🎉 veggies and some cheddar (20g as ran out of triangles!), just for you @Cloudberries123 😂
Dinner - cooked breakfast

Just managed to get a start of Christmas shopping as well so mental load is starting to ease up a little.

Cloudberries123 · 28/11/2022 14:44

Hurrah LittlePea love that! 😂 You've got this!

RealHousewife I'd never thought of putting beans in a stir-fry but every time you've reported it, it's sounded lovely!

Good start to the week feeling rested and had all my and baby's stuff ready to go this morning. The hilly walk to work is getting easier.

Foodwise fine other than a 4-pack of doughnuts which I got when I stopped off to get milk. And I've already eaten 2. I try never to shop hungry but sometimes it happens.

Breakfast - eggs, toast, coffee

Snacks - apple, banana

Lunch - halloumi wrap, coffee, 2 doughnuts 🙄

Dinner - lemony red lentil soup, one of my faves. Might make some meat on the side for DP who likes to eat most of his calories in the evening.

Hi @Cloudberries123 beans fill me up whilst increasing protein & fibre. Butter beans are particularly tasty in stir fry as are black beans. I love beans lol.

Happy Monday everyone...

I am so very sorry for your loss, LittlePea - he was a lucky boy to have found you and his short little life was filled with fun and love! I hope your other little kitty isn't feeling his loss too much. Well done on snapping right back at it today with your cup-a-soup and cheese!

I've been out walking lots and lots this weekend so have made some less than stellar food choices but I'm not down about it. The packing is also taking shape although still got a lot to do... thank goodness we have this place for about 10 days after we're out as I'm pretty sure we won't be 100% ready to go by Saturday. I'm not stressing though - life is too short!

Sounds like you've mastered the new routine, Cloud! DD and I did a trial bus journey to the new house this evening as she'll have to master it on her own from next week... we've been here so long, it's going to feel really weird starting our day elsewhere! Well done on conquering the hill as well - small milestone but worth celebrating!

Best of luck with keeping your loss off, RealHousewife - I have total and utterly faith in you!

ImALittlePea · 28/11/2022 19:43

I aim to please @Cloudberries123 😜

I nearly did the same on the food shop today - all the Xmassy party food is out and looks sooooo inviting! I was bloody starving as well as my lunch didn't keep me as full as it normally does.. always the case after a few days off eh. It's definitely much harder to avoid temptation when you're hungry. Thankfully I was on a tight schedule as had to whizz to school after, so I didn't have time to properly look, otherwise I'm certain I'd have succumbed.

Thank you @SanFranBear our other boy is looking a little bit lost, he was always a bit more distant but is shadowing us a lot more now. Poor thing. We're not sure whether or not to get another kitty at some stage - not immediately, of course, but perhaps in the new year. It's hard to know whether it would be the right move or not, we wanted two so they had each other to play with, but introducing a new pet isn't always straightforward. One for more thought a little way down the line, anyway.

Good luck to everyone for the remainder of November! I won't weigh until Friday (totally agree that Wednesday would be much neater @TheRealHousewife but I think I need the extra two days to undo as much of last week's damage as possible!) but will be rooting for all of you for your WoWs.

fallfallfall · 29/11/2022 03:02

hello :) so i weighed in and it was less than last week. last week was unusually high so i'm not too surprised.
i've been more active this week and staying away from those high calorie foods that seem all over the place this time of year.
i'm definately NOT bringing my A game to the party yet but i will get more into the zone soon.

ImALittlePea · 29/11/2022 07:53

Well done @fallfallfall and all in good time - recovery is a slow process and to rush it doesn't get you far. I'm so glad to hear you're making good progress though ☺️
