🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Good Afternoon All

@SanFranBear I was a bit … but I’m eating more carby food stuffs whilst trying to remain within my calorie count. Im blaming the cold damp days 😬 NSV are important to clock, especially if the scales are rewarding you. One of my NSV are my rings continually swivelling … I keep contemplating having them resized as I’d hate to lose any especially my wedding ones.

@ImALittlePea Try not to panic or internalise your frustration and disappointment. When life gets a bit easier and the cloud lifts you’ll be soon back on. Have a great weekend celebrating your dds birthday 🥳 .

@CrimsonAlligator Heres hoping you’ll soon feel much better! Ice cream doesn’t have calories if you’re I’ll 😬

@Cloudberries123 Sounds exciting venturing back into the work place. I do miss work and the chit chat … I’ve even been looking for a part time post but nothing suitable.

@milkfromthesleepycow 32k steps … you broke the thread 👍👏🏅🔥Well done!!!

Menu
Meal 1 - Boiled egg, cottage cheese and salmon mixed up with a spoon of mayo.
Meal 2 - GF Pieminster Chicken pies, mushy peas, mushroom & onion gravy.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Enjoy your weekend ❤️

Cross posted @Cloudberries123 … I think I’ve ‘seen’ you over there 👉😬

Thank you RealHousewife, I'm worried about the baby transitioning into nursery, and how much I'll miss her, but also looking forward to the social aspect of being at work. Thankfully it looks like I'll only be working half days, so will still have plenty of time with the baby, and - related to weight loss - no long stretches of time to get dehydrated or hungry. And also feeling out of control of when I could eat and drink. When I last worked in a similar workplace, that was a big contributing factor to me wolfing down sweets and snacks in the evenings. This will be a good balance 😊

Birthday weekend going well, some nice sweet and savoury food around but not had much time to eat it!

ImALittlePea · 30/10/2022 07:51

Morning all. A sad washout over here this weekend, I became ill (again 😔) early hours of Saturday - vomiting, temperature, awful aches all over - so we had to cancel DD's birthday party. Thankfully she has no idea, but obviously gutting for us. DH took the helm yet again for the day, I barely got out of bed. Managed half a tin of soup and two slices of toast all day, and had to force that in so I could take ibuprofen. Still feel rotten as anything this morning and my glands are now really enlarged, just waiting for the out of hours centre to open so I can (hopefully) make an appointment (or go back to bed if they can't see me). We were due to be going to a friend's baby shower this afternoon but having to cancel that too. DH and I are feeling so done with October, it's been bloody horrific. November has to be better, right?!

TheRealHousewife · 30/10/2022 10:06

Good Morning All

Did you all enjoy your extra hour in bed? Nice to have an extra hour to do whatever but I’m not looking forward to the darker nights. Cold, wet, dark and miserable outside at the moment. I think I’ll stay in 😬

Oh my goodness @ImALittlePea you are really being pulled through the ringer. Sending positive vibes a hug. I have everything crossed that November is better for you all 🤞

@Cloudberries123 I empathise about you leaving your little one to go back to work. It’s tough I know. Hopefully work will be engaging enough to make being there easier.

Menu
Meal 1 - Roast chicken dinner. Might end up being an OMAD day.
Meal 2 - Sharing platter from fridge (if needed)

Enjoy your Sunday, whatever you’re doing ❤️

Only two full days left here. Then two in Vancouver. Desperately looking forward to our routine.

TheRealHousewife · 30/10/2022 10:40

Hi @fallfallfall As I’ve got older I still very much look forward to going away but equally if not more so … I look forward to returning home again 😬

Past few days meals:

Saturday:

Breakfast: wholemeal Sainsburys toast with peanut butter and marmite
Dinner: Fishcake, half baked potato, sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, cheese sauce.
Lunch: tin minestrone Heinz soup with 2 crumpets with butter and parmesan cheese on soup
Snacks: 2 x tangerines, 1 large bag BBQ hula hoops and half slice of sort of almond cake in M&S, 1 x nectarine
1 x Pink Martini Gordons and few sour cream and cheese pretzels, friend came over so we had the dinner and drinks. I only stuck at one drink!

Exercise - walking round shopping centre and car park and driving! God knows how many minutes but maybe 1 hour total?

Breakfast today:

1 x wholemeal toast with peanut butter and marmite
1 x tin oxtail soup with crumpet with spread
2 x plums snack

I hear you @ImALittlePea , @CrimsonAlligator re motivation but big well done to @SanFranBear on the losses! It's great when clothes no longer fit and in the right places.

I don't think I've gained too much but just feel a bit bleurgh, had bad reaction from flu jab, another cold and then not sleeping great (menopause).

Will try to do a workout later and see what it does to my recovering Plantar Fasciitis.

ImALittlePea · 31/10/2022 10:08

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I was
admitted to hospital last night as became very unwell yesterday. Thankfully the teams acted incredibly quickly and IV meds seem to be helping. I'm hopeful I can go home at some point today.

Channelling D:Ream as much as I can - things can only get better. Right?

Totally hear you @fallfallfall - holidays are great but for me, you just can't beat your own bed and home comforts/routines. I hope you've had a really wonderful trip though.

CrimsonAlligator · 31/10/2022 10:41

Oh no @ImALittlePea that sounds awful. Glad to read you were in capable hands and that you are feeling a bit better. Fingers crossed you get to go home soon.

I have spent more days ill than healthy this month, but nothing as serious as you though. I’m thoroughly fed up with this month. Bring on November 👊

I hate the evenings getting dark early @TheRealHousewife . I try the whole “lighting candles and making the house cosy” thing, but it doesn’t really make much of a difference to be honest. Vitamin D, a daylight lamp and spending some time outside are a little bit more effective for keeping my mood up, but I still really struggle with that switch from summer time.

Sorry this is not the most upbeat post ever 😂 I’ll go and check out the November thread now.

ImALittlePea · 31/10/2022 10:45

Sorry to hear you've had a rubbish month too @CrimsonAlligator - here is to November indeed!

TheRealHousewife · 31/10/2022 17:55

Happy Halloween 🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃👻🎃

I’ve ended October up .2lb, hardly anything. I could sneeze that away 🤧

@GonnaGetGoingReturns You have my sympathy! I know how you feel as I was knocked up when I had my covid & flu jabs at the same time.

Oh my goodness @ImALittlePea so sorry to read that. You have been in the wars ❤️

@CrimsonAlligator Sorry to read that. I don’t mind winter par sa but I do miss the milder sunny weather. I’m pleased to read you’re trying negate the effects of the dark nights with lamps/vitamin D etc. We only have about 6 weeks to go before the days get longer again.

Menu
Meal 1 - Cheese on GF toast. 😋
Meal 2 - Hearty homemade minestrone soup.
Tea, black coffee and water.

See you all on the other thread 😬

Really sorry to read you've been in hospital LittlePea. Rest and more rest! That's the best medicine.

It's been a hectic few days here with not much time to sit and reflect and write posts. Food has been a lot of processed stuff but I haven't eaten loads, haven't had time really!

Going to weigh in tomorrow as per RealHousewife and SanFranBear to see where I'm starting the month. See you on the November thread!

fallfallfall · 31/10/2022 18:49

Hospital! Oh no @ImALittlePea , get well soon

ImALittlePea · 31/10/2022 19:54

Yes it does feel like we've been through some major wars this month @TheRealHousewife . It appears I have had a scary brush with sepsis. I'm home now, very nervous about being at home I have to say, but I do feel lots better after all manor of drugs having been pumped into me and I'm grateful to be back to the family. And I have open access to the ward to go back if anything gets worse again. Going to hop on the scales tomorrow; I normally wouldn't on a Tuesday but keen to see if they last few days have any silver lining to speak of 🤦‍♀️

Cloudberries123 · 31/10/2022 20:28

I'm sure you probably have lost weight being ill LittlePea but it's more important to get your strength back and stay hydrated.

Going to stop mumming now... 😉

TheRealHousewife · 31/10/2022 22:12

@ImALittlePea Im pleased the hospital saw the sepsis threat off before it got a grip. Just get better! My blood pressure is through the roof worrying about you ❤️

Vikki7 · 31/10/2022 23:45

Checking in with weight update. I lost 1.3kg this week so I'm down to 78.4kg. Really pleased and feel like I'm progressing well.

Sorry to hear @ImALittlePea you've been unwell. Hope you're on the road to recovery now.

Happy Halloween !

SanFranBear · 01/11/2022 07:05

Just popping on here to say Get Well Soon, LittlePea... so glad they caught it as sepsis can be really dangerous (as I'm sure you know!) Hope you're well on the mend.

Going to head over to the November thread but an pretty sure I'm going to ser a gain as last few days have been dreadful, diet and exercise wise!

TheRealHousewife · 01/11/2022 08:15

Hi Tribe

Weigh-in same as yesterday, which is ok. Wanting to shave a bit off this month!

1.3kg loss is fabulous weekly loss @Vikki7 , well done 👏 See you on the November thread 👍

OP posts:
Lizsmum · 01/11/2022 08:46

So pleased to read that your sepsis has been dealt with @ImALittlePea . What a nasty shock that was for you. Stay well.

ImALittlePea · 01/11/2022 09:36

Thanks everyone so much. I'm feeling very overwhelmed by everything at the moment. 111 told me to wait it out at home on Sunday and it's really frightening to think how things could have ended up had I listened to them. As it happens, I ignored them and went back to my local UTC who immediately called me an ambulance.

Feeling stable enough this morning, but to keep the shit show story going a bit longer, my eldest was sick overnight 😭 so we didn't sleep well and he can't go to school for two days. And the help we were having with my youngest has cancelled as they don't want to pick anything up (understandably).

I did weigh this morning, I lost just over 1lb, but I'm blocked from a few days of cocodamol and no movements since Sunday morning (sorry, tmi) so true picture is probably more. Anyway, I know getting to full health and strength is way more important right now.

Over to November.

NearlyfiftyF · 01/01/2023 19:41

I’ve found this thread from another! Hope you don’t mind me joining in? I’m starting on Tuesday, never counted calories before. I’m aiming for 1,500 a day. Not sure if I can mange that.
