Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@fallfallfall she's already asking to go out on her bike again, thanks for asking. Sometimes kids are just so resilient!

Benjispruce4 · 10/09/2022 19:19

@fallfallfall we had pizza and cheesecake at Juliana’s in Brooklyn. Was to die for!

Benjispruce4 · 10/09/2022 19:22

The other thing that helped was that drinking in NYC is soooo expensive! 😂

Rewis · 10/09/2022 19:34

There has been adverts everywhere for kne of the local pizza places having a large pepperoni pizza for sale. I decides that I'll order one on Saturday and have it. Then got aowm really nice soup for the following few days so the calorie deficit will remain in the week.

Ate the pizza and it was fine. Really dissapointing. I thibk my home made turkey-slad wraps would have actually been better. Annoying l.

fallfallfall · 10/09/2022 20:33

@Rewis i'm a finicky pizza critic. i like my crust thin, not too powdery, and i like the crust bubbly but not too chard. this is the fellow my brother swears by

that being said my dh does an amazing job without the fermentation, but like the other fellow dh and i are meticulous with quality fresh stuff especially basil and the mozzarella we roast the veggies we put on top (we like mushrooms and green pepper) the pepperoni choice can be the hard part to find. currently enjoying one we spotted at an italian deli. if my calorie intake has to be lowish to not gain weight the stuff i'm putting in my mouth has better be worth while and healthy.
Rewis · 10/09/2022 22:14

@fallfallfall damn I could fit so many typos in one message. I think I had the wrong language keyboard on 😅 I love a proper deepdish. But I also really enjoy napolitan. My late grandmother made the best firewood pizza. Granny had an old timey brick oven from the 20's and she would make this amazing pizza, cinnamon rolls and rhubarb pie in it. So good!

Benjispruce4 · 11/09/2022 08:28

I could not fault Juliana’s pizza. Super thin and crispy and just margarita topping. On par with my best ever pizza in on the street in Amalfi.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/09/2022 13:22

Hello everyone. Had a few days away for work but was pretty good food-wise. Going to try and remember to WI on Wednesday and really commit to getting the pounds off! Will put an alarm on my phone I think. Bought some ketoketo bars to try which are lovely and now a staple for my snack drawer at work!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 12/09/2022 07:11

A plea not to be thrown off the thread - DD2 will be at Uni by this time next week and Ai will get on it.
I have actually put 3lbs in this morning from the start - too much last BBQ/last lunch/last dinners 🤣🤣😳😳😳

SanFranBear · 12/09/2022 07:26

Wouldn't be the same thread without you, 126orbust - hope DD2 gets away OK and it's not too much of a wrench!

All this talk of pizza 🤤 - I do like a nice, thin crust with some meats and mushrooms! I did have Papa John's on Friday with my friend and have spent all weekend feeling guilty about it - which is ridiculous... its just food! I did a 15k on Saturday and then another 45 minute home workout thing yesterday as well as being pretty on it, calorie wise, so hopefully not too much damage done (I really went to town as had a Magnum afterwards too - was luuuuuush!)

New week, new motivation required - struggling with it all at the mo, not sure why! I'm blaming the change in weather and some cavewoman instincts telling me to 'fatten up for the winter'... as good an excuse as any 😉 Hope everyone else is having a good day!

buzzofthebumblebee · 12/09/2022 07:52

Sloping back as seemed to have eaten my emotions this weekend. As you say SanFran struggling with it all at the mo, not sure why. Feel like I need a big release of some sort, rather than being continually stuck on a treadmill.

Positive thoughts and a kick (up the backside) start to a new week. Back to focus, clean eating, fresh and healthy foods, lots of water, and happy thoughts.

MirandaWest · 12/09/2022 12:16

Combination of birthday last Thursday and eating out twice that day and then Spending the weekend with my parents and sister and family has meant I’ve consumed a lot of calories in the past week!

but I have the week off this week, I’m keeping up with my running and have done 13,000 steps so far today with an amount left to do so will hopefully be ok!

JacquelineCarlyle · 12/09/2022 13:07

Hope you had a great birthday @MirandaWest and well done with your running.

I've drunk far too much over the weekend and then eaten rubbish too. So annoyed with myself as I really do want to lose weight and my willpower is just rubbish!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/09/2022 13:19

Afternoon everyone.

Birthday weekend meant there's been a bit of eating out etc. Was out for pizza on Friday night with friends but had starters (lots of them including some posh ciabatta, stuffed fried courgette flowers, chips with parmesan cheese, meatballs in tomato sauce plus a pizza with chorizo, mushroom, pepper etc - these were a lot on top of the starters and I actually ditched mine on the way home (friends had it for lunch/breakfast the next day). I did have a few gin/grapefruit cocktails and tiramisu.

I actually walked 17,556 steps on Saturday, and had only vogel toast with peanut butter and marmite for breakfast plus cappucino and ice cream in afternoon and a stir fry with noodles birthday meal with a couple of glasses of Prosecco and small slice chocolate birthday cake.

Sunday, peanut butter on toast with marmite, then cheese on toast with tomatoes and quarter small slice orange polenta cake when out, snacks were apricots etc. Walked a lot (not sure how much).

Today: Breakfast of fruit and fibre and blueberries and milk. Mid morning snack coffee/caramel cake, a small tiny cupcake and 2 gluten free chocolate fingers.

Lunch: half english provender cauliflower, kale and cheese soup with 3 cheese oatcakes. nectarine for pudding and 78 calories Snack a Jacks pack. Will have 3 x apricots for more snack.

I definitely noticed yesterday a pair of stretch jeans I have is looser around bum, waist and thigh area and I fitted into a new dress (10 rather than 12), Peacocks. My thighs seem slimmer too and stomach. No idea if it's inches off rather than llbs off scales.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/09/2022 13:22

@porkmarkets - I agree with you re emotional eating - so hard sometimes to stop.

Have had the odd almost whole bag of cheese savouries (Sainsburys) plus Baby Bel light and marmite small cheese. Honestly, I've learned to live with the odd 'pig out'. I'm sure I could lose loads more with cutting out all the bad stuff and never drinking but I'd be sad and I really don't think it's worth doing that!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/09/2022 13:28

@Slightlystressedbride - the 2 love interests - one is a 55 year old Peter Pan - loves outdoor activities including swimming (has a house by the sea and lives in London), reminds me a bit of an outdoor James Bond!

The other is a 45 year old director of an auction house and is Scottish. Maybe a bit more flirty but different in flirting styles to 007.

I like them both in different ways.

Am chasing but trying not to, the 007 one! Not sure if I said but sent a tipsy selfie of me in new long Oliver Bonas green leopard print satin fabric skirt and black t-shirt with new layered necklaces and got 'v v nice' from 007! Wink Hair had been tonged and I looked quite good if I say so myself!

@SanFranBear - well done on the weight loss - finger slimness counts! You could resize the ring. Well done on going full time at work and agreed house hunt now back on!

I feel the same with you re the Queen - not a royalist or haven't been for many years!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/09/2022 13:31

@MirandaWest my birthday twin - seems like you and me seem to be on similar patterns re our steps (me less so as getting over PF!).

Hope you had a lovely birthday and birthday weekend!

@JacquelineCarlyle - sometimes you just need a reset after eating/drinking all weekend. Just have less to eat, salads, halve carbs etc. I've found fruit and fibre cereal (small covering) with blueberries and covering of skimmed milk is a really good 'diet' breakfast for me nowadays (not every day but some). And keeps me fullish until mid morning/lunch. Also if hungry drinking cordial in water or water instead of snacking.

JacquelineCarlyle · 12/09/2022 13:35

Thanks @GonnaGetGoingReturns, you're right - gonna reset today! Been ok for breakfast and lunch so far, so will aim for today to be a better day (& no alcohol tonight!)

fallfallfall · 12/09/2022 15:28

I should reset on logging my calories, and reset on the fitness walking.
i’ll check in at the days end and let you know. My food choices are fine, it’s the portion sizes that creep up. I’ve been getting steps in and biking to deliver the honey but no intensity. Mainly due to honey sales and equipment clean up, I’ve been steady busy and compromising on everything.

fallfallfall · 12/09/2022 16:42

Starting the week at 145.3; 100% related to Chinese take home on Saturday and Sunday (leftovers)
last nights supper; 200 cal of pasta, steamed beans and roasted zucchini (veggies from the garden) a bit of both olive oil and butter.
dh is wanting to bike to a local shop…hellish steep long uphill. The kind olympians train on :(.

milkfromthesleepycow · 12/09/2022 17:42

Mmm that looks good @fallfallfall

Not the greatest day food wise. Forgot my packed lunch but managed to source a chicken salad, random scone and jam and few bits of fruit. Dinner should be (more) chicken and veg

Weights first. Had planned to run before doing them but don't have time now so will try and squeeze it in tomorrow. Wanted to try out doing run and weights on the same day to give me more recovery time but best laid plans and all that 🙄

fallfallfall · 12/09/2022 19:47

honey delivery and long bike ride (with electric assist) done and thanks to some planning the jamie oliver bircher recipe i've shared before. so nearly noon, good exercise and good food...the house is needing attention so now to focus on that :)

ImALittlePea · 12/09/2022 21:06

Hi! Have totally lost track of the thread - sorry - will try and catch up properly this week. Had a bit of a heavy weekend, whoopsie! I'm seriously bloated but hoping a good few days and lots of water will help.

Today's food:
Lunch - cup-a-soup with half a quesedilla (had hardly any cheese left over as didn't get to the supermarket until after lunch, so a lot of veggies added)
Dinner - loaded baked potato, stuffed with bacon, spring onions and cheese, with a huge mixed salad on the side + salad cream

Four teas all day and a lot of water.

ImALittlePea · 12/09/2022 21:08

Oh, I also went for two walks, half an hour with DH after lunch, flowed by the food shop, and I parked in the next village from DS's school today and walked across the fields and back at pick up. Not something we can do very often as it's not a suitable walk when I have DD with me so going to try and do it when I can.

SanFranBear · 13/09/2022 07:23

Not sure if I wished you both a Happy Birthday, Miranda and GottaGetGoing but just in case - Happy Belated Birthday! If anything deserves some off-piste eating and drinking, it's that! Sounds like you're both on top of it anyways.. Nice NSV, GottaGetGoing - they all count (and thanks for your kind words!)

I have an image in my mind of you pootling around the Canadian countryside on your bike, handing out honey and, to be really twee, living your best life, fallfall! Sounds idyllic, to be honest..

And lots of lovely walking, LittlePea - always boosts my mood!

Don't worry about an off day, milk - I had three packets of Hula Hoops yesterday afternoon for no reason at all... regretted them and I was thirsty all evening (am having lots of stupid o'clock wees at the moment too so didn't want to drink loads before bed!) Even though I was within my normal calorie allowance, yesterday was supposed to be one of my lighter days so planning a much better day today. We can do this, Jacqueline (not that your day actually sounded that bad at all!)

DD getting braces fitted this lunchtime so out across a mealtime which I'm hoping won't throw me off and then likely be a very 'soft' dinner (I've made Jelly!)

Have a good one, everyone!!
