Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@SanFranBear , i'm usually very unemotional regarding death (occupational hazard of being a nurse for decades), but HRM's passing made me cry a few tears on at least 3 occasions today :(. history passing and changes at a time of turbulence in the world, i'm sad.
ring: if you get some narrow waterproof tape, you can wrap the bottom of the ring so that it fits better for now, you can take it to the jeweler later and have a small bridge put into place and finally you can have it made smaller once your weight stabilizes.
bedtime: like a naughty child i have "put myself to bed" with my cell phone to play with on more than a few occasions to avoid temptation (nuts and pumpkin seeds...). it's also a good time to rub cuticle oil on the base of your nails.
great news on the full time work! may the house hunting resume.

milkfromthesleepycow · 09/09/2022 06:41

@fallfallfall when your temptations are nuts and pumpkin seeds you are doing well!

Good news on job @SanFranBear but I hope you won't be looking to move to far from all the ponies 😁

fallfallfall · 09/09/2022 06:51

@milkfromthesleepycow its the light salty flavor that’s tempting, and so calorie dense. Cheese is equally my nemesis. I have no moderation when it comes these items.

milkfromthesleepycow · 09/09/2022 07:06

Damm I think I got my posters mixed up!! Sorry if it's not you with the pony pictures @SanFranBear

SanFranBear · 09/09/2022 07:28

Oooh, half a kilo (a pound) down this week which I'm surprisingly pleased with as takes me to almost exactly five stone lost:

SW: 104.6kg
CW: 72.8kg
September GW: 70kg

I knew things would slow down, and they have, but I'm also due on in the next few days (I think... peri seems to play havoc with my cycle but all the signs are definitely there!) which does all sorts of funny things to my weight. Regardless, its downwards and a loss is a loss 😃

I'm definitely looking to move locally, milk, so plenty more ponies on the horizon (although it's getting darker and, with my new hours, I'll be working later so will have to flex some stuff to fit them in!) I cannot wait, though - we have completely outgrown our current house and somewhere less central and quieter means my little cats can get outside to explore!

I love cheese so much, fallfall - nothing I like more than a cheeseboard after a lovely meal with some crunchy crackers and grapes! And thank you for the tip on the ring - its my Dad's wedding ring and he was always a big man so I was already wearing it on my middle finger. I don't know I'd want to get it resized (which is silly as he'll never wear it again) so have taken it off for now and have popped it with my old wedding & engagement rings. I should sell those but for some reason, I can't part with them - I did try them on though and they're too big for my ring finger now, so that's something!

Hope everyone has lovely plans for the weekend? I've got my party this evening and am planning on wearing a backless dress... I've bought some of those daft, sticky, rabbit looking pads which lift your boobs up as mine are definitely not as perky as they used to be (pregnancy and breastfeeding kickstarted the droop but actually, the weight loss has definitely not helped and they've shrunk!) But I shall wear the dress anyway - no-one is going to care other than me!

SanFranBear · 09/09/2022 07:30

takes me to almost exactly five stone lost

Not sure where that almost came from?!

ImALittlePea · 09/09/2022 07:32

Morning! Very happy pea here today, just shy of a 3lb loss so I'm almost at pre summer holiday weight already 🤩

Today's plan is:
Lunch - not quite sure, possibly another cup-a-soup lunch but I might make a salad instead
Dinner - homemade tortilla pizza with potato wedges

Happy Friday all 🙂

buzzofthebumblebee · 09/09/2022 07:32

Very sad. I was very tempted to console with a GnT last night, but settled for camomile tea.

Thought I was going to sob in yoga but it was so tough there was no time for thoughts! Can't remember who talked about all the beautiful people in their class - but I thought of you ; )
Hope everyone can keep strong today.

buzzofthebumblebee · 09/09/2022 07:35

Cross post - have a fab party @SanFranBear . And great news on your loss @ImALittlePea !!

ImALittlePea · 09/09/2022 07:35

Well done @SanFranBear and the party and dress both sound fabulous!

Nothing big on this weekend, seeing friends here and there but should all be quite low key.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 09/09/2022 12:46

@SanFranBear enjoy the party I am sure you will look wonderful in the dress!
I am headed on Holiday this afternoon only for 6 days but I am going to channel my inner @TheRealHousewife and try not to use my phone while away.
Weighed 69.5kg this morning so same as wednesday, goal for the next week is to maintain as much as possible rather than loose as I like to enjoy the food and wine other countries have to offer.

SanFranBear · 09/09/2022 13:57

My party has been cancelled... well, postponed. Understandable but I'm still a bit gutted as I don't get out much 😄. Ah well - hopefully I'll be able to make the revised date.

Great loss, LittlePea - and quick too! Hope you see your pre-summer weight really soon.

Have a wonderful break, Allthegoodnames - and fingers crossed you're able to maintain.. so hard to do when you're on holiday but I'm sure you'll make mindful choices!

Right - need to finish up work for the week and decide what to do this evening now!

milkfromthesleepycow · 09/09/2022 15:25

@SanFranBear I've just got a backless dress for a wedding next weekend. Planning on trying this bra

www.marksandspencer.com/100-ways-to-wear-multiway-bra-a-dd-with-low-back-converter/p/clp22134277

As I'm not sure the bits of tape will cope with my boobs!
Might be worth a look if party's been postponed

Happy weekend everyone

SanFranBear · 09/09/2022 16:24

Aw thanks, milk - but my dress basically goes down to the base of my back so it's really not designed for any bra. It's more tasteful than it sounds (was originally bought for a wedding too but i was younger and 'perkier' then!) 😆

At this rate though, summer dresses may be 'out' anyway as time is ticking and its not very summery out there anymore! I did treat myself to a new little black number a while back so perhaps I'll wear that one!

fallfallfall · 09/09/2022 18:32

@SanFranBear i have a love hate relationship with clothing.
But I did order this just a few days ago.
www.hobbs.com/row/product/sammi-denim-dress/0122-5958-1144L00-INDIGO-12.html?utm_source=transactional_emails&utm_campaign=order_confirmation&utm_medium=email&utm_content=viewproduct.
wt. stable 144.9 this am. I need to put more umph into my exercise.

Lizsmum · 09/09/2022 22:30

I'm back from Paris. 4 days of eating without planning = a gain of 6lb. Nothing awful just the odd croissant, bread and butter (just for you @Slightlystressedbride), glass of wine and so on. I'm hoping it all falls off just as quickly. It was our 49th wedding anniversary whilst we were away so there was a bit of celebrating too.

fallfallfall · 10/09/2022 00:18

oh @Lizsmum hats off to 49!!! yes drink extra water and get that 6lbs flushed out. maybe a short cardio session to keep the arteries from clogging with butter.

milkfromthesleepycow · 10/09/2022 09:19

Urgh. Ended up in ED last night as thought my DD had broken her arm coming off her bike. 5 hours later no fracture but did share a huge bag of fruit pastilles with them as we were all starving.

It was just tiredness, if we'd all been at home they would have been asleep and I would maybe have had a bit of fruit if I was peckish. Strange.

Never noticed before how awful the food provision is for patients in our hospital, it's just vending machines! Must prepare better next time- and there probably will be a next time 😂

SanFranBear · 10/09/2022 11:16

I too both love and hate clothes - although am starting to love more than hate. My new LBD came from this site and is basically this dress but with no sleeves..

www.emp.co.uk/p/lace-dress/346061.html

I have to say, their sizing is amazing... when you put it in your basket, it takes you through some questions ie height, weight, body shape and then suggests which size will suit you most. It was absolutely spot on when it arrived (do might actually be a little big now as that was a couple of months back but not too big!)

Sorry to hear about your DD, milk - although great it's not anything more than nasty bruising. I was with friends last night and worked out that DDs latest exploit is the 4th time that she's broken or fractured a bone (2 x wrist fractures, broke her leg and now her shoulder!)... noone else there had even broken anything once!!

Congrats LizsMum - that's wonderful and Paris is such a beautiful city to celebrate in. And agree with fallfall - you'll be able to flush that away nice and quickly (and sounds like every Lb was worth it - love proper French croissants... and baguettes... and patisseries! Argh - need to visit France again soon!)

Benjispruce4 · 10/09/2022 14:17

Ah I found you!
Been a while as super busy. DD1 moving out and DD2 starting uni plus we have been to New York for a week at the end of the holidays.
I weighed this morning and can’t be Louise maintained!! In NYC the diner brunches we’re amazing and I didn’t hold back. They were filling so only ate twice a day plus the walking was over 25k steps at least each day plus the sweating so it went in my favour!! Hope all are well, haven’t caught up with the thread yet.

  • can’t believe not Louise!!
milkfromthesleepycow · 10/09/2022 16:59

Sounds like a fab time @Benjispruce4, NYC is a great place to visit. Bagels alone are worth it

Benjispruce4 · 10/09/2022 18:24

Bagels with cream cheese(copious amounts) and lox. Were my fave, as were breakfast burritos, cinnamon pretzels, burgers etc etc

fallfallfall · 10/09/2022 18:37

oh my don't get me going on Juniors cheese cakes in NYC...i own the cookbook...that being said i could make a nice batch of chicken soup and matzo balls.
@milkfromthesleepycow i hope your girl heals up quickly.
i'm steady with honey sales and deliveries. i did a decent work out yesterday and hope to fit one in today.
weighed in at 144.3 ;) pretty pleased with that slow and steady loss at this point.

milkfromthesleepycow · 10/09/2022 18:44

Not a bad day today. 3 mile beach run offset with pizza for dinner (home made). Had a salad with mine instead of all the other bits I'd made for kids and DH

Will meal plan for next week tomorrow. DH is going back to the gym- has a months worth of access and 3 PT sessions a week to trial. I'm really pleased, hoping it'll help us set good examples for the kids

I am slightly concerned he needs 200g of protein a day (and has an allowance of 2000 calories a day to lose weight 😡 bloody brown fat and muscle!)
