Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Well done to everyone for their losses.

I do now have an incentive... I've been chasing (yes I know I shouldn't but I'm an Aries Moon if you believe in that bollocks!) two guys for ages - one is 100% my type! Grin After necking a half bottle of pink Prosecco yesterday at hairdressers (it is my birthday week!) I went home, tried on a brand new Oliver Bonas skirt, had my hair all tonged and did some selfies which had the desired result on both men!

SW 18 stone 1
CW 17 stone 11 1/4

So 3.6lb off. Feel a bit weirdly demotivated today and I've been so good this far. But I've still got manky tonsils and a headache. I've arranged a day of comfort food to cheer me up:

Breakfast was 1 slice toast and a yoghurt
Lunch: go pig or go home tandoori chicken thing
Dinner: slow cooked beef with potatoes, peas and a Yorkshire pudding

Allthegoodnamestakken · 07/09/2022 12:56

Well done to all the WoWers, sounds like everyone is doing great. @Lizsmum enjoy your paris trip, life is to short not to enjoy the croissants and macaroons while you are there!
I am hoping to be 69kg flat by Saturday when I go away however I have spent all day slow cooking a beef ragu for lasagna tomorrow so thats probably not going to happen.

Oh definitely @buzzofthebumblebee, super fresh. Wasn't concerned about calories but as I'm trying to start tracking again on MFP it threw me a bit. But the rest of the day was nice and healthy too, I swerved the naan bread with our curry, weighed out my rice etc.

Today's plan:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, dairylea triangle, followed by greek yoghurt and pomegranate seeds
Dinner - sausage and sweet potato bake, which has red onion, peppers, tomatoes and the like chucked in

@ImALittlePea your lunch sounds scarily similar to mine!

Do you have the Bachelors Slim a Soups? I have to buy online now as Tescos etc stopped selling them or where I live. What Dairylea triangles do you have, is it the lowest calorie/fat or not? I've got pomegranate seeds too think will save for later or tomorrow.

Love the sound of the bake too, trying to do veggie/vegan sauasgaes.

@porkmarkets - have you tried halving your carbs - e.g. quarter or half of potato, palm sized or less portion of rice/pasta?

Totally agree with you re comfort food when you're not feeling well though!

CassandraBarrett · 07/09/2022 14:41

SW 64.4kg
CW 62.6kg
Down 0.7kg since last week
GW 59kg

I have been quiet this week, very tired, hope to participate more next week.

I have been for a few walks with the baby in the sling and am breastfeeding. I'm trying to be careful with what I eat but I always feel hungry so then raid the cupboard for dark chocolate and dried fruit. Also had a cake and cappuccino yesterday. I wonder will that catch up on me tomorrow 🤔

@GonnaGetGoingReturns no I just have regular cup-a-soup. The dairylea triangles we have at the moment are just the regular ones, I wouldn't normally have them tbh but as I'm kick starting the diet again I thought I should have a few extra calories in there. I don't have breakfast (16:8 I/F) so I don't worry too much about getting the slim/diet versions of things like the cup-a-soup.

The bake is such an easy meal to prep and cook, going to add some extra greens when playing up as well.

SlashBeef · 07/09/2022 19:58

Hope it's OK to join!
I'm 70lbs down so far. Quite a bit to go but I'm not focused on the final target yet. I've found it helpful to set small ones. Next big goal is to hit 100lb loss. I weigh myself on Mondays.

porkmarkets · 07/09/2022 21:57

@GonnaGetGoingReturns I'll probably look at the carbs in a bit when things start to slow down. Just focusing on calories right now while I get my head around everything - the main thing for me is staying in the zone...I'm a risk for just staying sod it and giving up after a few weeks.

JacquelineCarlyle · 07/09/2022 22:15

SW - 84.8kg
CW - 83.9kg
TW - 63.5kg

Pleased to have lost almost 2lb this week - still a long way to go but good start!

fallfallfall · 07/09/2022 23:45

welcome @SlashBeef impressive numbers!!! well done. i hope we can help you keep your eye on the ball and reach your goal.
oh my so we have an upcoming wedding on the thread @Slightlystressedbride and now some potential dating @GonnaGetGoingReturns, teachers and students back to school and finally just over 100 days till christmas.
wonderful how many have weighed in with losses. keep up the good work everyone.
busy this am with honey deliveries/sales.
happy with my morning weigh in at 144.7 and no reason to not see 143.?? if i continue to make reasonable food choices and exercise.
b: toast, scrambled egg and tomatoes
l: skipped a proper one but was at a friends and had cheese crackers in moderation, ice water, and melon...a nice bowl of ripe cantaloup grown locally.
s:🐔, salad and 1/2 corn on the cob. i always make my own dressing. this one is mainly lime juice.

SanFranBear · 08/09/2022 00:17

Well done all you WoW'ers... some really great losses this week! And very impressive stuff, SlashBeef - you must be feeling so much better already!

Day in Bristol for me, visiting the office where all my team actually work (the office I normally go to is just the most local one to me) and got my own WoW of 18k in.. so much amazing graffiti and street art in the city. I did take a unglamorous slide down a rather muddy hill as it was slippery after rain - no harm done other than my dignity as I had to then finish my walk with a huge kid stain on my behind! But hoping it'll stand me in good stead for weighing in on Friday 🤞

Loving your list of good things, fallfall although could do without the reminder of Xmas... although am happy to know, come what may, I'm in a very different place healthwise than last year - yay!

Kid stain???!!! MUD stain 🤦🏻‍♀️

milkfromthesleepycow · 08/09/2022 06:46

@SanFranBear to be fair kids often have a mud stain from falling down on paths 😂 love the graffiti in Bristol. There's a Banksy walking tour that's really good if you can fit it in next time you're at the office?

@SlashBeef amazing loss - what's you're food/ exercise plan?

My legs ache after yesterday's bike ride so just going to do a gentle run today and upper body weights. Went out with some old friends last night, was lovely to catch up but the calorie counts on the menu were a bit of a shocker! Chose as sensibly as possible and todays plan is good so should even out

Allthegoodnamestakken · 08/09/2022 07:40

@SanFranBear your walk sounds lovely even with the accidental slip n slide.
I had a bit on a non scale win yesterday, I tried on some work trousers that have been shoved in the closet for a long time and they all now go on and do up again. A few went in the charity bag as I no longer like the style but a couple of pairs will be added into my rotation. I also end up being videoed a lot with my job and usual seeing them makes me feel awful but yesterday I saw one taken on monday and and though wow I actually look ok. I have only lost 7kg in total so not looking much smaller but my clothes fit much better and I think that has made me look and feel more confident also my whole body just looks less puffy which is probably from eating healthier. Anyway I am no longer feeling so guilty about the lasagna and wine I will be having tonight.

TheRealHousewife · 08/09/2022 09:05

Started the day with a lovely run in the rain - was 12km and so much nicer being rained on than it being too hot and sweating everywhere 😃

The past week has been all right in terms of eating but a bit too much chocolate. I can feel now when I’m eating too much sugar - there isn’t loads but more than is good for me. Think I’ll try upping the protein.

Am off work until Monday 19th September now which is good. Gives me lots of opportunities for extra walks/runs and will try and deal with mid afternoon slump better. And I’m having a little solo break next Wednesday to Friday in Whitby which I’m looking forward to a lot.

The rest of today will have lots of eating in it as it is my birthday 🎉 🥳🎂and am going out for lunch and dinner. Plus I’ve asked for some sweets and chocolate too (as well as new trainers 😂)

ImALittlePea · 08/09/2022 12:37

Have a wonderful break @TheRealHousewife 💗

Feeling positive today, back in the stride of healthy eating again.

Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies and a dairylea triangle. Greek yoghurt and fruit.
Dinner - cottage pie and veg

And all the water! (Both rain and drinking)

milkfromthesleepycow · 08/09/2022 13:27

Happy birthday @MirandaWest take a well deserved relaxed day
Impressed by 12km. Im going to force myself to do hills today, my second most hated session after intervals 😂

SlashBeef · 08/09/2022 13:55

For me it has just been a calorie deficit which I started in February and then from July I've been going to the gym 3x a week mainly focusing on strength training. I've struggled with binge eating for years and years so I've been having therapy too. Finally feels like it's all coming together and I'm getting my life back. My body doesn't hurt and ache anymore!

Slightlystressedbride · 08/09/2022 14:21

Gah! The thread has run away with me! Lovely catching up on everyone's news! @GonnaGetGoingReturns I'm already completely invested in the potential love interests! Keep us posted!

Was so busy yesterday I've barely picked up my phone! Yesterday's WoW...
SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 2lb
Wedding dress weight 9st 12lb
TW 9st 7lb

So another 1lb down, and that's one and a half stones off in total now Smile
The wedding is next Saturday so I think I'll be pushing it to get into the 9s by then but we'll see!

Thanks for everyone's tips on body wraps! I've realised as I'm having a not orange spray tan in the days before so a wrap will be a big no-no. Probably a waste of money anyway!!

Enjoy Paris @Lizsmum and eat a giant slice of French baguette slathered in salty butter for me!!

JacquelineCarlyle · 08/09/2022 14:40

Have a fab holiday @TheRealHousewife

buzzofthebumblebee · 08/09/2022 15:27

Happy holidays OP & happy birthday Miranda
Well done on looking - and feeling better All good
Impressed by all the running. I'll get back to it soon.

Food OK here, no snacking (except an apple late afternoon), no sugar, no naughty carbs, no alcohol. Making sure the food I do eat is tasty and fresh. I have booked a trial yoga class this eve. Need to start doing things for me that doesn't involve edible treats. I really enjoyed pilates the other evening, but think I need some good stretching & deep breathing to release tension. Hoping yoga will hit the spot that no wine has left !!

fallfallfall · 08/09/2022 17:56

Happy Birthday @MirandaWest!
@buzzofthebumblebee you sound focused. I hope you enjoy yoga, I find it peaceful and pleasant but haven’t participated in classes for a couple years.

Positive thoughts everyone

SanFranBear · 08/09/2022 21:49

I think I'm going to have to brush my teeth, sort out lunchboxes, feed the cats and hit the hay as I can hear the curly-wurly in the fridge calling my name and I really want to see a loss tomorrow...

Bit of a NSV today actually - I've noticed my fingers are looking much slimmer - I've always had quite fat fingers and they're definitely looking much better and a ring I wear, which was always a bit too big, is really loose now so I should stop wearing it but it has a lot of sentimental value... not sure what to do?

Also in general 'good life news', I've been approved to go full time at work which means the house hunt is back on! Really hoping to find something soon so we can start the next chapter!

Sad news about the Queen today - surprised by how affected I am by it, to be honest! Probably also encouraging me towards the sugar which is rather daft... funny how easy I slip back into the 'feeling blue? Why not have something unhealthy?' But I shan't...
