Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Well my diet went completely out of the window yday.

Sorry if I posted but had chilli con carne burrito at lunch then nothing else as went to Lying in State of HRH Queen.

Had a spinach cannelloni main and buffalo mozzarella and tomato/pesto/basil starter and berry vanilla cheesecake for dinner plus a few G&Ts and a camomile and mint tea plus a take-away Latte (skinny). Did approx 17,992 steps yday and approx 2,053 today so hopefully that's offset some of what I ate/drank!

Breakfast this morning - 3/4 slice vogel soya and linseed toast with peanut butter and marmite
2 baby bel lights for snack and Mrs Crimbles chocolate macaroon (coconut)
Lunch: 3 x Nairns cheese oatcakes plus Bachelors Minestrone Slim a soup and cucumber crudites, 4 x cherry tomatoes, 2 large cos lettuce slices, 2 radishes

@Purplecatshopaholic - your new dog is adorable!

@fallfallfall - great idea to freeze fruit and vegetables - must do more of that.

@SanFranBear - great losses!

I'll be at Kent seaside next week on holiday so will spend less time on MN but more time walking (and eating and drinking).

Yesterday I wore my black pleather dress and was very pleased at how it looked. Going forwards I want to look nice in clothes so will try to get back on it re weight-loss (eating less) and exercise.

ImALittlePea · 16/09/2022 17:49

Today's food has panned out ok-ish...

Lunch - large salad with toasted ciabatta, garlic goats cheese and honey. Half a bag of skips.
Dinner - going to make myself a tortilla pizza or quesedilla (swerved the pizza aisle at the supermarket!) with homemade sweet potato wedges

And there's a bottle of wine in the fridge that I'm going to enjoy once the kids are in bed!

Cloudberries123 · 16/09/2022 21:01

@ImALittlePea Both those meals sound absolutely delicious!

I seem to be doing OK foodwise today, mainly because I've been too busy juggling baby and organising our weekend away to be stuffing my face! We are at my mother-in-law's now and I usually find food quite a challenge here. She keeps very different mealtimes and eats like a bird, and I often end up going to the shops and supplementing with less than healthy alternatives/extras so I don't die of hunger! I'm going to try and be mindful about it this weekend, and if I do want more food, that it's actually food and not rubbish.

milkfromthesleepycow · 16/09/2022 22:06

@Purplecatshopaholic what a cutie!

Off day here today- woke up feeling under the weather with sinusitis. I've struggled through a day at work and takeaway curry for dinner as I just couldn't face the kitchen. Will see how I feel tomorrow either tempo run or just rest and get fluids in

ImALittlePea · 16/09/2022 22:38

Thanks @Cloudberries123 I'm just impressed I stuck with the plan and didn't get a takeaway as DH was out at a friend's for one!

That's tricky when you're in someone else's territory and they operate so differently to you. Try and keep on top of water intake so hunger doesn't sneak in too much? And yes to a stash of healthy snacks you can fall back on over the weekend. Enjoy your time with them!

I know I tend to go AWOL at weekends but I'm going to try and check in more - this group really does help me feel more accountable! I'm sure I'd have jacked in my efforts weeks ago had I not found this thread. Having said that - if I do disappear again I'll be back next week 😅 but I hope everyone has a great weekend!

fallfallfall · 17/09/2022 02:06

Ah @Purplecatshopaholic what a playful looking pup.
great news @Allthegoodnamestakken flying is dreadful for water retention and long haul trips tend to only offer carb loaded meals (heading to France where dd currently is mid October).
A much more normal type day; walk, bike ride, honey business, and dealt with the grapes (juice in the fridge, jam making tomorrow. people interested in the excess).
wt stable at 144.1 this am, two new clothing items fitting well.
the acquaintance who was rude to me 2 days ago was perfectly pleasant today when I delivered honey that she requested. I’m assuming she didn’t realize how she silenced and insulted me??
ideally I’ll do a fitness video before bedtime.
Positive thoughts as we head into the weekend 😊

www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cheese_and_potato_pie_52107
inspired by another thread but i simply had to try making this. i'll weight out my portion aiming for 300 calories of the "pie". i'm serving it with broccoli and wax beans.
weight stable, exercise minutes okay including some cardio. 143.9 with normal BMI at 141.
amazing autumn type day over here with grape jelly made this am.

Good Morning All

RIP QUEEN ELIZABETH II 😢

Thank you for keeping the thread going @fallfallfall @GonnaGetGoingReturns @ImALittlePea and any one else who’s helped keep things going 🙏❤️👍

Had a great time away. However on the last couple of days I started feeling unwell and now have got a full blown virus (testing negative for covid). The owner of the property we stayed in lives next door and preps the property before you arrive. She tested positive on our last day. Fingers crossed 🤞 Paracetamol, plenty of water and just light duties for today.

Ill catch up on thread when I feel more human 🤧

@TheRealHousewife hope you got a few days good holiday before you started to feel unwell? There's a miserable non covid virus doing the rounds at the moment

ImALittlePea · 18/09/2022 12:35

Welcome back @TheRealHousewife glad you had a great time, although sorry to hear you've come home poorly. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse 🤞

Yesterday ended up being far more tiring than I anticipated. Shopping to try and update the kids wardrobes now the temperature has dropped, then DS had a party, ended up coming home exhausted! Meals haven't been altogether sensible, but thoroughly enjoyable.

Tonight DH and I are having an at-home date night. We have an M&S done in meal and some prosecco on the chill, and we're going to play games instead of watch a film as we normally do.

Already anticipating a gain next week 🤦‍♀️ but hopefully my weekday efforts will mitigate the weekend damage enough.

Lizsmum · 18/09/2022 19:04

That sounds like a good idea - an at home date night. I'm sure you can compensate during the week. Enjoy your meal.

Rewis · 18/09/2022 19:17

My mother is a terrible influence. Went for a visit for the weekend. Helped out in the garden so that's all good. She had bought candy, crisps, wine and all the good stuff!

Cloudberries123 · 18/09/2022 20:04

I too have had a weekend away with family and not eaten the things I wanted to eat! 😅 I got through most of a packet of poppy seed crackers and salmon paté by myself while waiting endlessly for meals. I also went out and bought myself a sandwich at one point. Not the worst things in the world... but also a lot of teas and coffees, little chocolates, and dessert once the meals were ready.

Really looking forward to eating my own food again and being back in my routine. Not sure what the scales will show on Wednesday!

SanFranBear · 18/09/2022 22:03

Have spent the day running around like a mad thing or in the kitchen, cooking, so I can have a day off tomorrow...

Same as you, LittlePea - into town to get warmer clothes for DC combined with a visit to Forbidden Planet and Asda to stock up on nibbles and ingredients...

I then baked a Victoria Sponge, some scones, made a roast dinner and some jelly (not exactly taxing but I have no room in my fridge so had to play Jenga!) and have only just sat down.

I'm not going to have a day off, as such, tomorrow but its normally one of my lower calorie days and I'm just going to eat healthily (before cramming in scones, scones and more scones - I bloody love scones and rarely make them as I can't stop at one, with cream and jam and cream!)

Pooped now so looking forward to bed, in lovely clean sheets!

fallfallfall · 18/09/2022 23:26

welcome back @TheRealHousewife , i hope you are feeling better soon.
not sure why today is so busy with supper half done, the cheesy potato pie really needs to have a meat side so chicken and asparagus planned for tonight.
i've not exercised but i've not snacked or eaten anything too far off plan.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 19/09/2022 08:08

Welcome back @TheRealHousewife sorry you are feeling rough!
Got on the scales today to see how I am doing post holiday and down to 69.1kg so that excess wine weigh has really fallen off plus more.
I have a few autumn/winter weddings to attend in November and all will be weekends away. Going to really push as see if I can hit my target of 65kg by the first one which is November 5th so 7 weeks away.

Lizsmum · 19/09/2022 17:33

Hope you're feeling better now @TheRealHousewife

Rewis · 20/09/2022 00:13

The gym instructor had done a deal with the devil updated the programme. I'll be impressed if I can get up in the morning.

fallfallfall · 20/09/2022 02:00

😊well done to the instructor for pushing the class. Fingers crossed your not in agony for too long.
pickled beets done, my hands are a mess.

SanFranBear · 20/09/2022 07:16

Hope you're firmly on the mend, RealHousewife - viruses, whatever they are, can really zap it all out of you!

Beautiful services yesterday, I got quite emotional at the Windsor one, and managed to probably overeat on the nibbles.. told you, scones are my downfall! I did go out for a head-clearing walk in the afternoon but the damage of 'sooo much cream' was already done 😃

Back to the old routine today though and my new job starts today so will be in the office which always helps keep me on the straight and narrow. Hope everyone else's weeks started well!

TheRealHousewife · 20/09/2022 09:00

Good morning everyone - thank you for your kindness and lack of judgement.
126 is very definitely bust!
DD1 went backk to third year and DD2 started at the end of last week and DH and I have spent the entire long weekend doing lots of lovely eating and drinking and celebrating our semi independent adults. Soooooo at weigh in this morning the scales said 143.2lbs😳I have a bit of work to do.
I commit to checking in and weighing every day and posting weight whether it be good or bad. I mean it cannot get worse than this point so......
Well done for keeping going @TheRealHousewife I will endevour to do the same.

ImALittlePea · 20/09/2022 10:55

Morning all! I'm feeling all disorientated this week after the long weekend.

As expected, the weekend was rather off plan. Date night was really good fun though. Yesterday we went for a long slow walk in the morning, went home for bacon sandwiches and watched a bit of the funeral. In-laws came for a roast dinner which we did with ALL the trimmings - so tasty but I'm not even going to think about the calories consumed. They brought a bottle of wine so we had a couple of small glasses but that was it.

Today's meals:
Lunch - salad with leftover roast chicken
Dinner - was going to be risotto but I don't think I've got enough rice 🤦‍♀️ so think it'll be crushed new potatoes, Quorn nuggets and beans. Or something along those lines.

We've got a really busy weekend coming up - out for dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday! So I'm hoping I can undo last weekends damage prior to then 😬🤞 I'm not feeling all that hopeful though, I have to say. Need to up my motivation and try and stretch it into the weekend. Considering trying to get up earlier for a short hiit once or twice a week. Watch this space!

ImALittlePea · 20/09/2022 10:58

Glad you're testing negative @TheRealHousewife, hopefully you start to feel better soon!

MirandaWest · 20/09/2022 11:13

Hello :) I've been off since 8th September - been doing lots of running and walking and steps and as I went away for a few days to Whitby and was staying at the top of the infamous 199 steps to the Abbey I managed to get a lot of flights of stairs in too! Managed my most steps ever in a day (over 52,000) last Thursday which included several walks and even a run at the end of the day where I had to run uphill (I don't do running uphill generally). And DD and I went to London for the weekend this weekend - not as much walking and watched two shows.

However I also found a lovely cafe overlooking the sea and indulged in various things including Rocky Road cake on more than one occasion. Weight is vaguely the same as it was before I went but I need to definitely cut back on any snacking if I want to lose more weight...
