Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Some great losses going on, well done everyone!

Being ill isn't the first choice for a weight loss plan is it?, @Dashel, but every cloud..!

Pleasantly surprised to weigh in at 14st 11lb today so a 2.5lb liss this week. Really hadn't expected that with it being my time of the month but it was a nice boost for me this morning. Also the lowest I've been since starting 😊

Hope you're OK @OhFatty?

SnowyMouse · 06/11/2022 14:23

Today I weighed in at 11 stone 4, which is a loss of 3.75 lb, 12.75 lb loss overall (6 Nov)

christmas2022 · 07/11/2022 07:46

@SnowyMouse that's a great loss well done!

christmas2022 · 04/11/2022 14:08

Hi all

I'm 160.4 currently- I cant remember what I started at or what my last check in here was but this is the lowest number I've seen this year.

Really want to go into Christmas feeling good in myself and having clothes to wear that look nice.

Back to 163lb after the weekend where I always have a spike as treats / alcohol are consumed.

Back to it today and would love to be below 160lb by Friday.

I think it's 6 weeks to Christmas so aim
For half a stone by then.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 07/11/2022 07:51

Well done to all with losses!

I only lost 0.1kg this week but it was half term and I wasn’t careful so am pleased with any loss. Going to focus now for the last 7 weeks.

Dashel · 07/11/2022 08:40

Good morning everyone!

It is horrendous here this morning so did a 20 min walking workout very early this morning.

I put on a 1lb this morning but I think it’s because of all the walking yesterday.

@SnowyMouse thats a great loss - congratulations!

@WutheringShites86 I was joking with DH that a good bout of food poisoning or dysentery would be great for weight loss but I don’t really fancy trying that…. But the thought did cross my mind for a few minutes 🤦‍♀️ Congratulations on your loss too!

@christmas2022 have you thought about giving up the booze for a bit? Although I enjoy a drink on the weekends, I have been dry (apart from on my holiday) since I started this and it’s really helped. Even if I had low cal booze, I am a drinking and snacker and can polish off a lot of crisps with my drinks.

@DreamingofItaly2023 at least it was a loss not a gain!

@OhFatty i hope that you are ok, you have been so quiet lately.

Stepcount · 07/11/2022 09:18

Morning everyone. Couldn’t post my weekly update yesterday as I was away with DP for the weekend. Somewhat frustratingly I am almost a couple of lbs up this morning so teetering on my start of the month weight. I guess that’s all part and parcel of managing our weight- accepting that there are going to be times when we eat and drink for enjoyment and not for weight loss. Hoping to get back into things today. So as not to set myself an unrealistic target for the next few weeks I know what I weighed last summer, briefly, after I had had Covid. If I could get back to that I would be happy in the short term and then I can set a new target for next year.
Have a great week everyone!

christmas2022 · 07/11/2022 10:37

@Dashel

Thinking about my alcohol intake is definitely worth it. I have several socials between now and Christmas so even if I go dry when there isn't a social going on it should help.

Dashel · 08/11/2022 07:50

Morning 😀

I finally bought my jumper that I wanted as a reward for getting below 10st 7. In the past I have devised reward schemes for loosing x lbs but this is the first time I have achieved success. Even if it was a little late, so very pleased about that.

I managed 16.5k steps yesterday and came home and did a full body weights work out and was doing some crunches to finish and felt a sharp pain slightly to the left of my spine about 10 inches from my shoulders. I’m in so much pain and my neck is super stiff and sore. I had a terrible nights sleep due to pain. So not so pleased about this. I couldn’t face a walk so I think today will be enforced rest so will need to be careful about not comfort eating as that is the overwhelming urge right now 😫

No real change on the scales 10st 5 this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day

christmas2022 · 08/11/2022 08:09

@Dashel perfect timing for your jumper reward and very well deserved.

My weekend spike has subsided quickly
So back to 160.8 this morning.

Really want to be below 160lb by Friday.

Giving serious thought to no alcohol this weekend.

Lots of water this week and seems to do the trick.

Oh, I actually went for a run yesterday- first in so long and felt great.

Dashel · 08/11/2022 08:16

Thanks @christmas2022

Honestly cutting out the alcohol and not getting into the weekend eating mentality has made such a big difference.

We have a calories counted oven chip dinner with vegan chicken and veg and vegan kebabs and a roast (no yorkshires and very little oil on the small portion of potato) and this has meant that our weekly averages are a lot less than they would have been when we dieted mid week and eased up on the weekends.

Thats great about getting back into running!

Stepcount · 10/11/2022 09:33

Morning. I managed to shift the post weekend regain quickly and am today the lowest I have been having hit exactly 21lbs lost since early August. 🥳 That means I have just over 6 weeks to shift the next 7 lbs and hit my target. I would be super chuffed if I did that so fingers crossed. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 12/11/2022 23:26

1 lb off for me this week, taking me to 13st 4.5

6 weeks to go so hoping for another 6lbs. Just can’t wait to see a number starting with 12

hope you’re all doing well, feels like Christmas is fast approaching now

WheelofLife · 13/11/2022 02:22

Hope everyone is going well. My weight has fluctuated. I briefly touched on the 10 stone 12s, but am back to 10 stone 13 again. I didn’t exercise for a few days because of a pulled muscle but getting back on track. Will aim to lose at least 1lb this week. Am still 3.3 lbs down from when I started.

@OhFatty Hope you’re okay x

Dashel · 13/11/2022 08:57

Good morning everyone.

It has been an awful week, my back was really painful and that made me eat a few extra graze bars and also cut back on the walking and increasing the comfort carbs.

I weighed in this morning at 10st 5.9 lb which is definitely higher than I wanted but my back has eased up considerably, it’s still stiff and a bit painful but not to the levels it was earlier this week. I managed to get my steps in at 21k yesterday and am aiming for a long walk today. My weight has been up to 10st 8 this week but I don’t know if some of that was the swelling and the carbs. I need to get firmly back on track now.

@Stepcount 21b is a fabulous loss and I’m hoping that you and all of us here hit our Christmas targets

@Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday fingers crossed you will be I. The 12s soon, having a new starting digit is always exciting.

@WheelofLife i sympathise with your back issue. But hopefully it will be ok this week.

WutheringShites86 · 13/11/2022 19:48

Hi Everyone, I've been off the wagon a bit this week. To put it simply, I couldn't be arsed! Really stressful week at home and work and I just needed to let go for a few days. Drawing a line under it now though and fresh start tomorrow.

Well done to those who have had losses and pushed through injuries and ill health.

TheBatwoman · 13/11/2022 23:06

Sorry everyone - had a lot going on at home and at work recently. Still been focused on my weight loss goal, just been a bit rubbish at updating the thread. Weigh in this week was a loss of 5 lb.

Hope you’re doing okay too @OhFatty

Dashel · 14/11/2022 07:20

Good morning,

@TheBatwoman that is an amazing loss!

@WutheringShites86 lets hope this week is much better!

I managed 25k steps yesterday so super pleased with that.

Weight is the same as yesterday at 10st 5.9lb. I will get my steps in today and have physio later so will hopefully get a better idea of my recovery timescale. I hovered yesterday and it hurt so I’m not rushing into exercising.

Have a good and positive day today.

christmas2022 · 14/11/2022 08:02

Hi everyone,

Good to see you all still checking in, we're getting closer and closer to Christmas and I'm determined to be a good few pounds lighter still from now until then.

My steps have increased.

I did manage a few drinks over the weekend but not on Friday so that's neither a hit or miss.

Monday weigh is usually where I see a spike on the scales although not weighed yet.

I think I'll aim for 158ibs by the end of this week.

Really missing @OhFatty contributions on this thread. Hope you're ok, thinking of you and would love to see you back.

Stepcount · 14/11/2022 08:28

Morning everyone. A misty, murky one today outside my window. I’m finding the weather is having an effect upon my eating habits for sure. That and a bit of ‘diet fatigue’ , where the mental load of always thinking about what to eat and how to keep the calories down can feel draining. My DP had his birthday last week so I have not really been trying since. Felt like I needed a few days off. I’m +1lb this morning from my midweek low so minimal damage. Any further loss now before Christmas would be great but I would like to do it without feeling too much deprivation 😬 have a good one 👍

WutheringShites86 · 14/11/2022 09:29

Welcome back @TheBatwoman, you're doing amazing!

You're still getting a great amount of steps in @Dashel so I don't think you need to worry about giving yourself more recovery time.

I know exactly what you mean @Stepcount. Back on from today though!

TheBatwoman · 14/11/2022 09:50

Thanks @Dashel and @WutheringShites86 - much appreciated!

How are you all doing? It’s really nice to be back here. Forgot what a lovely supportive group this is and could have done with some of that the past few weeks admittedly!

Hope everyone has a positive week and sees some victories either on or off the e scales 😊

Stepcount · 18/11/2022 09:17

Happy Friday everyone. The thread has gone quiet. I guess it’s a busy time of year. I have been keeping a low profile because I have consumed quite a lot of chocolate in the last week or so.🫤 It’s been in the house and at work so no escape. The only saving grace is that I mostly haven’t gone crazy/off piste with other food choices. I’ve also had a low level earache which has been a bit distracting. The scales are miraculously edging down. 6lbs to go, 5 weeks to do it. 🤞🏼 Hope everyone is doing well. 💪🏻

WheelofLife · 18/11/2022 10:13

Thanks @Stepcount Hope your earache gets better

And thanks to @Dashel @WutheringShites86 @OhFatty and everyone else who gave me encouragement when I said I was suffering from workplace bullying. The issues are very slowly being resolved through mediation and I will be doing a graduated return to work in the hopes that my colleagues will all be on their very best behaviour from now on.

My weight has been fluctuating. I am still 3lbs further down that I was, so will get there I hope.

Stepcount · 18/11/2022 10:20

@WheelofLife thank you for your kind words.
I’m glad to read that things are being addressed at work and you are feeling encouraged that you can return. I hope it all goes smoothly. 💐and well done on the weight loss. 👍 we can and we will 💪🏻
