Diet for Christmas challenge

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Sorry I have been awol, I fell off the wagon when I was ill. Since last posting I have lost 4.4lb and have upped my running and the difference to my level of tone is noticeable and I am feeling much more positive. I am not calorie counting but have really reduced my snacking habits.

Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time @WheelofLife, welcome back to you and @DreamingofItaly2023.

I had an awful night with DD's sleep last night then a very stressful day at work (prime over eating circumstances for me) so I'm pleased to say I have finished the day on a calorie deficit of 726!

@WutheringShites86 fingers crossed for a better nights sleep tonight.

I was 10 st 8 this morning, was hoping for 10st 6 so I would treat myself to the lovely jumper, but maybe next week 🍀

I am struggling with motivation which is really unlike me. DH dragged me for a walk after work so should get to 12k steps today and I guilted myself into leg day. I think it’s the darkness and the bad weather and the summer and the beach just seems so far away. I just want to hide under the duvet and eat chocolate but then I will put on what I have lost and I can’t face going back to square one so some how I need to kick my own arse. Sorry for being whiny 😫

It's OK to have off days sometimes @Dashel, be kind to yourself. Nobody can be running at 100% indefinitely, maybe you just need a rest day to gather yourself again.

@WutheringShites86 I think I am in a bit of a funk in my head this week.I didn’t manage a workout yesterday but did get 16k steps.

The scale also doesn’t seem to want to move I have been 10st 8.3lb for 3 days in a row which is odd as normally it moves about.

@Amisillyornot welcome to the thread! I hope you are successful. What strategy are you using to loose the weight?

Could it be hormonal @Dashel? I definitely notice in different parts of my cycle it's harder than others.

Lots of temptation for me at work this week, there have been events on with free buffet food throughout the week. I stayed strong at the start of the week but my willpower has been ground down!

Welcome @Amisillyornot. I can't think in kilos but we're quite a mixed group, some have smaller goals and some if us have several stones to lose.

I have been doing a mix of Intermittent Fasting and calories counting. Am also walking twice a say although the morning one is getting harder as it is very dark now so cannot really walk at 6 am before school run and work. In the evening i try and walk at least 1 hour. I am now at 82kgs so around 13 stones.

Checking in ahead of tomorrow’s weight logging. I have had another week where I have been okay with most of my food choices but rubbish at resisting a few treats in between. Miraculously somehow this morning I am the lightest I have been since starting in early August. Only half a pound loss but feeling lucky and still motivated. Hopefully once my DD is back at college this week I can get organised and take time with meal planning. I’m not sure what causes it but I am far more on top of things if I have time to concentrate on the weight loss. It becomes an important part of the day to work out what I am eating, how much water I can drink etc. ( I have either a small or weak bladder and if I drink a lot it feels like I need the loo every 20 minutes 😬)
We seem to be a small cohort these days so well done on sticking with it and let’s keep going 💪🏻😊

@Amisillyornot When it’s grim here I often do a walking or dance workout at home to get my steps in. I can have the walking one on my iPad and can watch the news in the tv.

@Stepcount good news in the loss and it is highly motivating to see the scales go down. it’s quality not quantity of posters 😊 the support is amazing and much needed. I hope that even those not posting are carrying on hitting their goals.

@christmas2022 I need to get my focus on too!

This week has been so tough. I am at 12k steps today and did an arms weights workout. No spinning but oh well.

Have started a daily weigh in with an app which says I’ve lost 0.7lbs
I was 11 stone 2.3 to start and am now 11stone 1.6

Not a big loss but just seeing the scales go from 11 st 2 to 11 stone 1 has spurred me on!

@WheelofLife I am pleased you are feeling more positive!

I weighed in at 10st 8.0lb this morning and although it was pretty expected, I wanted to be 10st 6lb so was pretty pissed off. My first instinct was to make a cup of tea and some toast with lots of jam and go back to bed and watch Netflix all day. But then I thought about how I haven’t worked hard this week, I have snacked more than I should, not exercised as much as I should and havent hit my steps target every day.

Then I thought if I got the tea and toast and did 4k steps, I would weigh even more tomorrow and it would be a slippery slope. So I got my gym stuff on and went spinning. I definitely feel better for it mentally if not physically just yet.

DH are going to look at meal planning with what we have in and see what we need and we are going to go for a long walk. He has a heavy cold and so will have to see how that goes.

Eight weeks till Christmas and want to be under the 10st mark by then. Otherwise drastic action needs to be taken to get me sorted by my holiday at the end of April!

Have a productive day every one and keep strong and focused!

@OhFatty - 0.6 lb. Not great but still edging in the right direction. Plan this week is to have low cal food options available for each meal, avoid silly snacking and decrease my carb intake which has crept back up. I need to lose 9lbs in 8 weeks to hit my 2stone target. Good luck everyone 🍀

I also want to loose 9lb in 8 weeks which is going to be super hard.

So yesterday, after my spinning class, we went for a long walk, Fitbit said that I burnt 1000 calories 🥳 which I didn’t eat back but had a graze bar and a cup of tea at the halfway point and came back for a late lunch.

I managed 30k steps yesterday so am feeling a tad sore today but I want it keep my steps up. I weighed in at 10st 8lb exactly again but there is probably some DOMs.

I hope everyone has a great and productive day.

I’m really sorry I haven’t done the chart, I’ve been really down -I had a horrible PM a couple of weeks ago (not from anyone in this group) about being fat and it made me want to hide, but today, I don’t know why, I’ve decided I don’t care. Yeah I’m fat, yes I’m ugly (how did the person even know???) but I’m trying

@OhFatty that’s outrageous, how dare they. There are some very horrible people on here sometimes but what kind of perverse kick they get from being so utterly vile is beyond me. You know that their opinion has no value so we will stick a collective 2 fingers up to them and forget they exist. 💕
