Diet for Christmas challenge

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

That is awful and they just lead a very sad life if they have to be mean to you just to make themselves feel better.

You are a wonder person, you've brought all of us together in our joint mission to weigh less by Christmas and created a lovely friendly and supportive space for us all.

I think when we get to the next thread though you should change your username as it isn't very kind to yourself.

1st of November. I use a very basic weight tracking app and scanning back to my weight at the start of October and where I am today my loss for the month was 5.5 lbs. I’m happy with that and would be delighted to manage the same again this month. Good luck everyone.

I am so angry on your behalf fatty! They must be a very bitter, sad, pathetic person to act in that way.

I am totally in for an Easter one. I have struggled so far as as a house we have been struck down by illness almost constantly since early September. Hoping for a break now so I can do a push before Christmas but I will need the time to Easter to reach my goal weight.

@Stepcount that is a great October result! Congratulations although I’m sure it was well earned with lots of hard work

I am down half a pound to 10st 7.9lb this morning and I have lost 3lb in October which I am pleased with. Four would have been better but so would ten 😊

I finished on 19.5k steps yesterday and managed a 7 minute yoga session before bed.

This morning we were up early so did a 40 minute walk, so a good start to the day. Hoping to do some weights when I get home and of course eat well and keep my steps up.

Good morning

I did a legs weights session when I got home last night and got to use one of my new 15kg weights for sumo squats 🥳unsurprisingly it is quite heavy 🤣 I also finished on 17k steps as well and eat well so was a little disappointed to have gained weight this morning I’m back to 10st 8.1 🥺

Oh well! I’m going to take some progress photos of me in my undies later and measurements and compare them to older ones. I think I have made good progress, but I think photos will be a good comparison.

We were up early and went for a walk so at 5k steps already. I am really going to try and make the best use of each day in November for my diet and exercise as I now have my first official Christmas party invitation and I know realistically that December is going to be much harder to stay on plan.

thank you @Dashel and @DreamingofItaly2023 for your kind words. I was quite surprised when I checked the stats as it seems to be coming off in small amounts- very rarely anything more than 0.5 lb but it all counts I guess.
@Dashel you are really very focused on the exercise component of this and I am in awe of the steps that you get in ! I dream of being 10 st something but I know you are working really hard to get below that. I’m sure you will see a difference when you compare now and then photos later 👍

I’ve been very determined this week. I’ve cut carbs and chocolate. Two days ago I did a 20 min HIIT YouTube by Nobadaddiction. Loved it! All standing, no repeats and no talking! Yesterday I could feel it so did weights and a brief dance cardio,

Today I’ve broken the 11stone barrier and am 10 stone 12.8 which according to my app is a total of 3. 5 pounds. Just need to keep it up :)

Good morning!

@Stepcount my aim is to post a photo of me in a bikini on holiday in early May so I think exercise is going to be needed! This challenge is great as Christmas has been a good target and will keep me on track and not just putting things off.

@WheelofLife sounds like you are going all out too! Congratulations on making it to the 10 stone somethings!

Yesterday I did my walk first thing, then also did a 20 minute walking workout as it was dire outside and a 20 min Joe Wicks HIIT workout and his 11 min pyramid arm workout and hit my 15k steps, but I had a terrible nights sleep and my head cold got worse at 1am so not sure how productive I will be today. It might end up being a rest day.

However I did get on the scales this morning and was very pleased to see 10st 6.2lb so lost nearly 2lb overnight 🤷‍♀️ I was more careful with the carbs yesterday and I’m sure it will go up again tomorrow, but it’s a nice new number to see on the scales!

I've been doing well, calorie deficit every day and lots of steps in. Just realised my period is due next week though so I'm probably not go to see it reflected on the scales right away, I tend to put a few pounds bloat on. But it will pass!

@WutheringShites86 sounds like everything is going pretty well!

I am still feeling pretty rough, my main achievement was staying awake yesterday and working so I only got 6500 steps in. On the other hand I wasn’t really hungry.

Even though I had an early night I had a terrible nights sleep and I feel exhausted and full of cold and yucky stuff 😷🤧I got on the scales and I am pleased to report another loss and am 10st 5.6lb. It seems strange seeing these sort of numbers on the scales. This is the first time I have managed to ever get under 10st 8 and that was very unusual, normally I would bounce around 11 st and diet for about a month and give up after 10st 10lb and put a bit back on and start again in six months.

So thank you for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

I was also thinking about whether my body has a load of nearly empty old fat calls and needed a good clear out and whether doing some sort of fast would be beneficial. Not for the weight loss, but in a clear out the crap kind of way. Does anyone on here ever fasted for this reason or do I sound nuts?

Well done everyone, definitely seems to be a positive week so far. Seeing the numbers coming down on the scales is such a motivation to keep going. Or trying on those clothes that just didn’t fit a few months ago. I wish I had taken a few photos, just for my own reference 😬 but there is one particular dress that I am using as my barometer for the difference I will hopefully achieve. It was bunched up around my waist and buttons miles apart over the bust in August. Now it skims my hips and I’m not far off on the boobs. Another 1.5 lbs down so far this week. Have a wonderful weekend everyone 🥳

I'm 160.4 currently- I cant remember what I started at or what my last check in here was but this is the lowest number I've seen this year.

Really want to go into Christmas feeling good in myself and having clothes to wear that look nice.

@Stepcount 1.5lb is fantastic! You can still take photos now, but it sounds like your clothes are a good indicator and it sounds really positive!

Are people planning on going shopping for some new outfits before Christmas?

I have found out I’m going to a work do the week after next. My team is spread out so although I have a local office, it’s only me from my team that works there and it’s been about 18 months since I have seen them.

I thought we would meet up in early to mid December and I wanted to look good for this, so a bit disappointed on missing out on the extra weeks, but I can hardly say that to them. I am lighter than I would have been last time I saw them and I remember feeling quite fat and as it had been arranged with little notice, I must have been 11st ish

I don’t really have a nice meal out type of outfit anyway, so I would like to find something that isn’t full on Christmas party wear but isn’t a hoody and jeans. I’m not good at clothes shopping or styling.

That's a good point @Dashel about how early the party season starts, we should probably expect December to be more challenging!

I've been derailed a bit this evening, miscommunication with DP about our meal plans (read: he ballsed it up 🙄) and he ordered us an Indian takeaway! I got in from work late starving and I was weak and ate the curry. Oh dear.

Hi everyone and hope you are all having a good weekend!

I am steel feeling pants. I did 30 minutes of yoga with Adrienne but just been so tired that I haven’t gotten many steps in. Currently at 6k 😤 and just want to nap.

I managed a 24 hour fast yesterday and stopped eating after dinner on Thursday night until my Friday night dinner. I thought if I wasn’t exercising iT would be a good time to try it. My appetite wasn’t great so it might have been easier, but I did it followed by beans on toast and a small 120 cal chocolate bar.

No change on the scales though! Still 10st 5lb

Hello all. Radio silence from me as I was on holiday this week with DD in Lanzarote. I ate and drank and didn't care and seem to have only put on about 1lb.

I can't keep up with the slimming world group I was doing due to other committments on that day now, so I am going to see if I can do it myself. If it doesn't look like I can, then they have a free rejoining offer that is running until nearly the end of Nov so I'll go to another class if I need to.

I'd prefer WW but there are v few groups in my area.

I'd like to keep going and lose another stone (I've lost one since July) by Christmas.

Weigh In at 13st 5.5lbs for me this week which is 2.5lbs off. Most I’ve had in a week for months so quite exciting

let’s me 5.5lbs to go to my original Christmas target but still hoping for 1lb a week so 7lbs 🤞

Very slow 2st 4.5lbs so far. 1st 12.5lbs still to go….

Well done everyone :) I’ve fluctuated up and down. Reached the 10 stone 12s briefly but am at 10 stone 13 today so have lost 3.3 pounds overall.

Ive pulled a muscle in my lower back so just doing walking and arm weights just now till it settles.

@DrMadelineMaxwell I went to an AI in September and didn’t worry too much about the food but kept up my 15k steps. I think unless you are holidaying a lot more than the average person, then you need to enjoy it and not worry too much. It’s precious time away from work and with loved ones and relaxing and enjoying yourself is super important. Are there any online groups that could help?

@Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday thats a cracking loss! Congratulations on loosing so much as well in total. Have you dropped a couple of clothes sizes now?

@WheelofLife Injuries are no fun. Walking will still really help and at least you are concentrating on what you can do and not using it as an excuse to give up. Thank you, I am feeling a bit better, woken up still with a sore throat and very tired.

I am going to try and get out for a longer walk this morning before the rain comes. Somewhere flat as my chest hurts from coughing.

I have ordered a BNWT Phase Eight skirt from Vinted in a size 12. Hopefully that will fit ok. I really need to go clothes shopping for fitted clothes. It’s been a very long time since I have really done that as apart from the pandemic, I am always saying to DH, we need to get clothes but let’s do it when we have lost the weight.

Then of course we don’t so don’t go shopping for anything fitted. I have loads of pyjamas, socks and baggy jumpers and that sort of thing. I even voluntarily wear branded uniform as I can wear a baggy jumper instead of office wear and I don’t need to worry about what I wear to work and wfh I can wear jumpers. A lot of my clothes are looking old and tired anyway. Sorry for the clothing essay, I am noticing that things are getting loser and am going to have to face this.

Anyway, last week my average daily weight was 1.1lb less than the previous weekly average. My weight today was 10st 4.9lb 😳and last Sunday it was 10st 8lb but I think not exercising for a few days has meant that there is less water retention.
