Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Welcome to the thread @TryingAgain2022 Planning ahead is a good strategy. I myself set my ‘intentions’ out for the following day/week. It helps with motivation to keep moving and exercising and stops me obsessing about what food to have. For example my agenda tomorrow is a short Leslie Sansone walking vid and a few band exercises. Every bit helps.

Good Morning 😊

That looks an awesome work out @fallfallfall ! Well done 👍

I had a post holiday weigh in and Im a full 1lb down. Pleased with that! I did walk more overall (to the point of back failure each day) and my intention is to JUST DO MORE each day. Just do it & move it 😬 I know it will help overall.

Menu
Meal 1 - Roast tomato and red pepper soup with basil. Fresh fruit salad & a bit of fresh cream.

Meal 2 - Cod fillet, peas, carrots, broccoli & cheese sauce.
Tea, coffee & water. Plant based milk to add collagen to.

Exercise
Part 1 - Leslie Sansone short walking vid.
Part 2 - Band work out.

Thanks for new thread as always @TheRealHousewife Glad you had not only a nice time away, but lost weight in the process! Double result.

I'm late to the July thread as had a very social and indulgent weekend, so thought Monday - today - would be good day to start.

Will power waning, so need to really focus on no snacking at all for next 3 weeks until holiday. Don't need snacks. Don't need extra calories. Do want to eat clean, be lean, and energised. <giving myself stern talking to and kick up the backside>

fallfallfall · 04/07/2022 15:34

@buzzofthebumblebee , standing butt naked in front of a full length mirror works wonders for me. As do a few strategically placed sticky notes.

TheRealHousewife · 04/07/2022 15:43

Hi @buzzofthebumblebee you're welcome! Monday is a great day to start afresh and reset.

I've just had a telephone consult with the nurse practitioner at my local GPs (waited weeks for) to discuss my stubborn belly fat (visceral, the most dangerous type). Over the last few years where I've reduced my weight considerably, belly fat remains firmly in place. My blood sugars and thyroxine levels are 'fine'. It was agreed that I could have a cholesterol blood test. My last test several years ago showed 6.3ldl and over 2 hdl (I think I have that right, she was talking so fast). Not the best. She also advised I attend a Healthy Eating and Exercise Advice Group to learn about how to eat healthily and exercise lol. I said I wasn't being ungrateful but I felt competent in eating well and moving within my ability. I know she was only trying to help.

@TheRealHousewife I’m teetering on learning more about the Galveston Diet. It’s marketed at peri and menopausal women.

Benjispruce4 · 04/07/2022 16:55

B- soft boiled egg on seedy toast
L- salad with sauerkraut, apple, rice cake with tsp peanut butter.
D- chicken and pepper skewers grilled, vegetable rice.

Benjispruce4 · 04/07/2022 16:56

Well done @TheRealHousewife that’s a great coming home present! I always like coming home to.

AvocadoSoup · 04/07/2022 18:45

@fafallfallfall luckily my partner is keen to stay healthy too! Plus 90% of his meals are outside of the house. We rarely eat together!

@slightlystressedbride we do not... It will mean losing our deposit but at this stage I am pretty sure it is what we are going to do. Now I have to make the decision as to whether we do something totally new and different next year or just do the same thing a d move it. I think same thing, for ease etc. But I will feel resentful about paying the venue money for nothing in losing the deposit! My head is just not in the game though. Motherhood has been way more all consuming than I anticipated and I know I'll enjoy it more next year.

Definitely still want to lose this baby weight though (plus the extra lbs I gained in the years prior!). Think I can go for a less extreme timeline now though 🙏🏻

WatchingTheCloudsRollAway · 04/07/2022 18:47

Can I join? Have around 2.5 stone to lose, but I am not fixated on the scales. I just want to fit into my clothes again and feel comfortable and healthy.
My weight has been like a yo-yo since I had my second child. Lost a great deal of weight during first lockdown (all I did was WALK with baby in buggy and toddler on scooter) but being sleep deprived and busy has seen me pile it all back on again. I am fast approaching 40 so it's getting harder to lose too.
Today out of the blue something twigged and I felt ready to get my act together.
I am just using MFP to calorie count. Not obsessing but trying to keep to a sensible intake. Exercise is hit and miss but I have a dog so need to walk daily, so not totally sedentary. Long term I would like to start HIIT and lifting weights, but I am taking baby steps for the time being.

ImALittlePea · 04/07/2022 19:17

Well done @TheRealHousewife great post-holiday result!

I'm burying my head in the sand about how bad the weekend was. Another Monday, another reset though!

Today's meals:
L - a Moroccan vegetable tagine pot thing, on offer at co-op for 50p, 327 calories and actually really tasty!
D - toad in the hole and a mound of veggies.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 04/07/2022 19:26

Trying to stick with it even though we are only 4 days into July!
so far I have walked at least 10,000 steps as planned and today, bring a Monday I started my healthier eating programme in the attempt to loose some weight.
stating weight this morning was 11.3.8 - I’m going to weigh in on Wednesday though but needed a stating point.
and at work I said to the chocolate and biscuits and ate a satsuma!!

TheRealHousewife · 04/07/2022 19:27

Welcome to the thread @WatchingTheCloudsRollAway Easing slowly into a new way of eating/living is the way to go. Pleased to read you’ve got your eye on future exercise goals too.

@fallfallfall Ill look the Galveston up and have a read 👍

Getting back to my cholesterol levels … I’ve searched my previous GP tests on-line and it was last tested in 2018 and marked up as abnormal and an instruction for a GP appointment to discuss. It makes me quite cross as I basically had to beg for a retest and I’ve still not been granted a gp appointment 😡 Our NHS can be so incompetent at times.

@TheRealHousewife i don't even have a gp in this CITY all specialist. runny nose or big splinter and you need to go to the emergency department.

TheRealHousewife · 04/07/2022 20:38

That’s incredible @fallfallfall . Do you have to pay to access medical/health support?
