Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

SW: 83.3kg
CW: 79.1kg

Hoping to lose half a stone this month. Following high protein, low carb diet, plan to continue with 2-3 work out classes a week.

OkyDoke · 01/07/2022 11:30

Can I join please? Just started 16:8! Got a weekend away in Sept which I'd love to lose 1.5 stone for! I've got a long way to go... can't actually believe these numbers.

SW: 16st 1
CW: 15st 11
GW: 12st

Quackpot · 01/07/2022 11:58

I'm not so bothered about weight, because I want to start my dumbbells up again and strengthen up, so where I'm losing fat I hope to gain muscle. But I want to lose inches off my waist and get back into fitness. Currently 32 inch waist and want to get down to 26ish inches.

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/07/2022 16:47

@CrimsonAlligator it's difficult with exercise isn't it? I seem to have hit a balance between weight loss and performing but it's luck rather than design (as im so crap at actually putting the calories into a log!).

I can run fasted no problem but only do it on my easy run days where I'm more interested in distance, not on interval or tempo days. Absolutely can't lift weights without eating beforehand, just end up with a rubbish session.

With the disclaimer that I've never done rowing- could you try cutting calories on 'easy' training days but not on hard ones? If it's similar to training for a running race that should work, you'll end up with an overall calorie deficit for the week but should be fuelled when you need it?

@Quackpot body recomposition! Good plan, are you looking at a lots of core work or general strength training? I'm the same waist, hoping to get down to 30" but dream of 28 😂

Lizsmum · 01/07/2022 17:25

Thank you for starting the July thread @TheRealHousewife . My aim for July will be to lose just 4lbs which would take me to 12 stone11. Not very ambitious but realistic as there will be a week as a house guest in France and a few other summer celebrations to navigate. I'll carry on sticking to a calorie limit alongside carb control.

Adversity · 01/07/2022 17:44

I did my walk and it turned out it’s 6.5 miles it wasn’t a brisk walk but a decent stretch of the leg.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 01/07/2022 17:52

I really need this thread to make me accountable however I do have a habit of joining and then dropping out!
I need to loose 1.5 stone but only have 4 months until an active holiday so realistically a stone would be good.
I also need to loose weight for health reasons, have been told I have high cholesterol and have 6 months to change my diet and have another blood test - if no change then it’s medication and I don’t want that.
I also have a bad knee which causes pain all the time and need to loose weight to improve that! So lots of good reasons - just need the willpower to actually do it!
Plan is to walk 10.000 steps a day - only need to do 1500 more today.
as for the diet - I need to stop snacking and will be starting this on Monday!! Work is a nightmare for treats all the time. And being sensible with food choices and portions.
i will weigh in on Wednesday! WOW

A bit of both really, I need to work on my core but also enjoy yoga, and quite like following along to YouTube strength videos. I don't go to the gym, I like to do it at home. I think I'm being ambitious wanting 26 🤣

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/07/2022 18:27

@Adversity Nothing wrong within ambition (as long as you're happy with progress rather than being disappointed because you haven't achieved it yet).

I'm also a home not gym person but never got along with yoga. I've tried it so many times and it just doesn't click. Shame I really want to like it!

I bought a pair of 30" waist jeans from vinted. My non scale goal (?NSG) is to fit into them! Bootcut Levi's- remind me of my yoof 😂

CrimsonAlligator · 01/07/2022 19:44

That’s an awesome buy @milkfromthesleepycow and a great thing to work towards! Have you tried them on yet to see how much more you have to lose?

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/07/2022 19:49

I got them a couple of weeks ago and I could do the button up (if I held onto it so it didn't pop off!) but didn't even attempt the zip 😂 they're fairly low rise so my C-section pudge is definitely an issue.

I foresee an awful lot of planking in my future..... and at least 7lbs off!!

Funnily enough I'm driven by jeans too 😂 saw a gorgeous pair on sale but didn't have my size, but they were too cheap to let go by so I grabbed the biggest they had. So atm it's between me and DD to see who fits in them first.... Most likely her, she just needs to grow taller, which she's doing all the time 😂
The race is on 😂😂😂

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/07/2022 20:20

@Adversity love it 😂😂😂

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/07/2022 20:22

Arghh @Quackpot I meant
Sorry adversity - although you may also have a set of aspiration jeans- it's not uncommon it seems!

Adversity · 01/07/2022 20:48

@milkfromthesleepycow funny you mention jeans I have a pair of beautiful skinny jeans in a size 10. Had them for probably 12 years and I’m going to try and get slim enough to fit in to them again!

Quackpot · 01/07/2022 22:40

This is wonderful, were gonna have to have some form of denim group code name 🤣

AvocadoSoup · 01/07/2022 23:33

@slightlystressedbride- what date is your wedding? Mine is meant to be September 15th, but we are now talking about postponing it (AGAIN!) as it all feels a bit too soon and we are still very much feeling like we have a newborn, although we don't!! 😱🥲

Are there any vegans out there? I'm vegan and also breastfeeding. Oh and have a history with eating disorders so don't want to get too obsessed this time. It feels like the odds are a bit against me at the mo!! 🤪

Benjispruce4 · 02/07/2022 07:47

Morning all and welcome to so many.😀
Had a few iffy days this week as I’ve been out of routine and had a few drinks after barely drinking for weeks.
No damage done luckily and still maintaining. Feel better for relaxing a bit and will keep on. @TheRealHousewife Is right. It feels SO good when clothes fit better and you feel comfortable as well as look good in them.
My tip is forget the 2000 calorie mantra. Work out your TDEE. and BMR for the weight you want to be and then eat that amount.

Benjispruce4 · 02/07/2022 08:02

@AvocadoSoup when I was breastfeeding (18 years ago) dieting was the last thing on my mind. I would focus on eating healthily and drinking lots of water. Factor in lots of walking and the weight will come off. With your wedding approaching, you don’t want to be stressing about this . 💐

LostaraYil · 02/07/2022 09:25

Lovely to read about all the holidays and weddings you lot have planned, I'm a bit jealous and need to book something for the summer! Left it late, DH is useless at actually booking dates off work and I'm too tired to plan anything. My aspirational jeans are a couple of pairs of levi's my sons (16 and 20) have grown out of. So far so good, I am low carbing and can tell the water weight is coming off because I have to get up 2x in the night to pee.

milkfromthesleepycow · 02/07/2022 09:37

@AvocadoSoup it does sound like you have a lot on your plate at the moment. Maybe log your meals / snacks for a week and then look at where you could make some swaps for healthier choices and also schedule in an extra walk every day to get your steps up? Either with or without the buggy depending on what's better for you?
(I'm basically paraphrasing benjispruce4!)

Woke up ravenous this morning and have a run later so have had some yogurt already. Got an egg dish planned for lunch then chicken stew for dinner

Going out for a climbing lesson with DH and the kids tomorrow. I'm terrified of heights but have looked out my big girl pants and practising my conquering fear face for the children!!

From Monday I'll be heading into a 12 day stretch at work, which im dreading. Unlikely to have the energy to continue my full exercise plan so will cut back training. Going to meal plan the next two weeks today then hand over the reins to DH but still a risk that it'll all go tits up and grabbing stuff on the go

Benjispruce4 · 02/07/2022 10:50

Ooh I’ve just eaten a ripe peach with a few basil leaves and it was sooooo delicious.

OkyDoke · 02/07/2022 15:38

Had a moment and are way too much chocolate. Can't let it spiral!

CrimsonAlligator · 02/07/2022 16:15

I fell face first into a multipack of hula hoops last night not for the first time this week 😬 I’m now contemplating just cutting out all that stuff and trying more of a whole food diet for July. It’s not that my diet is that bad overall, but I clearly have no self control around anything that comes ready made in a 100 calorie packet. I’m not even sure that I actually like hula hoops...

I absolutely love peaches @Benjispruce4 . There’s nothing quite like it 😋 I’ve never tried having basil with that, but it sounds delicious.

Good luck with your climbing lesson @milkfromthesleepycow. Go face those fears!

I know all about those dangerous moments @OkyDoke , but you can do this. Stay strong 🙂
