Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@CrimsonAlligator I don’t usually have crisps or crap in the house, it’s too tempting. If it’s for a treat I can go and buy them.

OkyDoke · 02/07/2022 17:36

Thanks @CrimsonAlligator I've resisted so far! Did a 15 minute an workout to try and negate it 🤣

If anyone wants a good Youtube channel, I'm really enjoying Grow With Jo, lots of low impact stuff!

fallfallfall · 02/07/2022 19:37

@OkyDoke , i'm a huge leslie sansone fan. i'm fully subscribed to their online/smart tv app. best $40 a year i've ever spent. there's some older free stuff on youtube. check out "walk at home" it's fairly low impact and tons of choice as to length of work out (15 minute mile, 30 minutes or more).
no movement on the scale here for a few days staying mid 155.4-7 type range. i'm not too concerned as i'm making good food choices and logging everything.

heads up though a recipe on bbc good foods was listed as 631 calories but when i entered it into the calorie counting program i'm using (cronometer) it was closer to 800. i linked it via the url and imported the recipe and notice that the lentils were omitted in their calculation but they were an integral part of the recipe.

Lizsmum · 02/07/2022 20:54

Well spotted @fallfallfall
What a shame the mistake wasn't in the other direction!

fallfallfall · 02/07/2022 21:01

i knew they could legally be off by 10% but this was an unexpected "find". i was planning on only having a half portion but when i'm trying to stick close to 800 a day an extra 100 each meal totally screws up the plan.
as for a good lower cal option at lunch we had tuna salad sandwiches and i told dh to mix half mayo and half yogurt (14% greek plain similar texture to mayo) the calorie difference was staggering 15gm of mayo 102 calories, 15gm of yogurt 19 calories. so basically cut the calories in half with no sacrifice of flavor or texture.

@AvocadoSoup when I was breastfeeding (18 years ago) dieting was the last thing on my mind. I would focus on eating healthily and drinking lots of water. Factor in lots of walking and the weight will come off. With your wedding approaching, you don’t want to be stressing about this . 💐

Thank you. I had been worrying to be honest about any dieting affecting my supply.
My aim is lots of walks and water as you say. Plus more meal prepping leading to (hopefully) less snacking! I just need access to quick, healthy, easy to eat with one hand (😂) food at all times or I reach for the naughty stuff!

AvocadoSoup · 02/07/2022 23:48

Oh also, we might be postponing the wedding! It's been a crazy year 🤪 Moving it will be expensive but mean I can enjoy it more. No decisions made just yet. I keep to-ing and fro-ing and wondering on the right thing to do 🙈

fallfallfall · 02/07/2022 23:53

it's hard if you have older kids or a hungry spouse but i suggest a zero tolerance for junk food in the house (nuts and seeds aside and popcorn is fine but the real real junk needs to stay on the shop shelves). if you have any tell your fiancé to take it into work, car, shed.

AvocadoSoup · 02/07/2022 23:56

Really good idea. It's just us and my 5 month old so easily done. I'm having a clear out tomorrow! 💪🏻

fallfallfall · 03/07/2022 00:27

@AvocadoSoup , yesterday was canada day. lots of pancake breakfast and free hot dog lunches...upon mention of this dh said a hot dog might be good...
to which i said that i had frozen bratwurst sausages and planned to serve that the next day with four bean salad. he picked up on that and said he wanted his in a bun and hinted i should go buy the buns. the conversation totally confused me as in no way was i serving/cooking that meal on that day. he got a bit pissy stomping about and the atmosphere was tense. "i'll take care of my meal's, you'll never have to cook for me again accompanied" sooooo the long and short of this is, do have some stuff for your fiancé (in my case dh) should they not want or need to stick to your "diet".

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 10:11

@fallfallfall my DH is a foot taller than me, very active and has no weight to lose so the difference in our portions is obvious and necessary. We have biscuits in the house and only he and sometimes DDs eat them. Luckily I’m not a fan. I know he has a stash of other goodies at work but he often cycles 40 miles on a commute twice a week, does Park Run, lifts weights and joins me on long dog walks so he gets away with it.

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 10:13

So yes, I’d give him his bratwurst in a bun.But he’d probably have 2!😀

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2022 12:51

Good Morning or rather afternoon (been trying to post for hours 😬)

Home safe and sound. Does anyone else look forward to returning home just as much as looking forward to the holiday? I’ll pop on scales tomorrow to see where I’m at. TBH the bloat earlier last week seems to have rectified itself (thanks for the wise words @fallfallfall) and jeans are again feeling swishy (loose).

This thread has moved on so fast so hope to catch up properly later. Thank you 🙏 to all the ladies who’ve kept it ripening smooth as well as sharing their valuable wisdom. I’ll just say welcome to the newcomers! And congratulations to all the weddings in the planning … do I need to buy a hat 👒😬

thanks for the useful link @Benjispruce4. I have used it before but forgotten about it. It’s one of the more accurate/realistic ones out there for me personally. Most usually recommend far more cals that I need.

Enjoy you Sunday!

@AvocadoSoup 17th September!
Feels ridiculously closed and still so much to do!
I'm hopin

Slightlystressedbride · 03/07/2022 14:29

Pants, try again...

I'm hoping stress will help with weight loss 😂

Do you have quite a flexible arrangement to be able to postpone yours? I'm beginning to wish we'd gone for 2 witnesses and a drink at the pub tbh...

milkfromthesleepycow · 03/07/2022 14:59

So climbing.....went well!!

Bouldering is definitely not for me but turns out I'm fine when I'm on a rope. Made it to the top of the 30ft wall twice. I may have a new sport 😁

I could never have done this 6 months ago when I was 20kg heavier, either physically or mentally. It's been such a boost to keep going with the overall health plan, I'm really pleased.

I have just inhaled a huge ham sandwich as I was starving and needed something quick and easy for 4 hungry people though! I'll plan that better in the future 😂

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 15:06

Well done @milkfromthesleepycow sounds fun and yum!

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 15:07

@Slightlystressedbride i remember losing weight unintentionally in the lead up to my wedding. Had to keep having my dress taken in! Those were the days!

TheRealHousewife · 03/07/2022 16:17

Perusing the Sunday papers and found this article that coincidently matches the ethos of the LOSE IT! thread’s. I thought I’d share it with you all.

That sounds like great fun @milkfromthesleepycow, we’ll done! I’ve managed to do a short Leslie Sansone walking vid and a few exercises with my fitness bands.

Love that @TheRealHousewife couldn’t agree more!

SanFranBear · 03/07/2022 18:45

Hi all - back from my weekend away where all self-discipline leaped head first out the window and I had a glorious time with some of most favourite people. A lot of red wine was drunk, junk was eaten and whilst we did some decent walking, also lots of sitting and socialising. And I don't regret a minute!

I'll catch up on the thread in a mo although saw some jeans chat.. Great thing to aim for and may have a look in my wardrobe for similar.

Love that Wellbeing article, RealHousewife and agree - sums us all up so well.

fallfallfall · 03/07/2022 18:58

@TheRealHousewife well spotted on the article....

yesterday out of boredom, i decided to give one of those asian belly exercises a go...yup 65 and doing 33 minutes of pelvic thrusting. THANFULLY; dh was out in the bee yard and i didn't throw out my back.

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 20:56

@fallfallfall 😂😂😂 go you!

Benjispruce4 · 03/07/2022 20:56

@SanFranBear sounds like a lovely time .

Cudz · 03/07/2022 21:36

Hi all
I am weighing daily and I am well and truly stuck on 9st 11lbs although today I visited family and noticed they had scales on the floor when I used their bathroom. Had a sneaky try of those and I was 9st 6lbs!!! I'm still 9st 11lbs on mine tonight so which do I now take as the correct measure?!
