Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

B- 1 crumpet with low ft soft cheese and marmite
L- toasted sourdough with chilli avocado spread onto it, a poached egg and garlic kale. Made by my Dd on request as hers smelled so nice.
D- tabouleh with breaded lemon sole

Clocked up 13000 steps today.

Benjispruce4 · 27/07/2022 23:04

@fallfallfall once you’ve glimpsed that weight, you know it’s in its way!

Benjispruce4 · 27/07/2022 23:04

*on its way

fallfallfall · 27/07/2022 23:13

i know @Benjispruce4 it's encouraging.
now to control the sadness of my youngest breaking up with the girl he should be marrying :(
i really liked her and he's being stupid which again is disappointing as his father and grandfathers were good role models.

SanFranBear · 27/07/2022 23:46

Well done on those WoW'ing today with special 'whoooops' for you, RealHousewife! Excellent effort and so very well deserved 👏 and Daffy - 5lbs is an amazing start!

Excellent step count as well, Benji, always a good day when you hit over 10k. Did you make it out for your walk, CrimsonAlligator?

I made it out for a decent WoW myself today - just over 14.5k through the forest. Ended up with one walking buddy and her beautiful dog so it was a really lovely way to spend my late afternoon into evening. Did mean I was very late back and ended up with dinner at 10pm. Ah well...

Well done on swerving the wine, LittlePea - I'm sure that 4oz will melt away!

Sorry to hear your news, fallfall! They have to make their own mistakes, don't they, but DC can be infuriating - especially in matters of the heart.

And I'm very sorry for your loss, Lizsmum Flowers

Daffyaboutdaffs · 28/07/2022 05:19

@SanFranBear thanks for your encouragement. Sounds like you had a great walk.

Lizsmum · 28/07/2022 08:33

Oh @fallfallfall our children can be so worrying when they seem to be making poor decisions or life just isn't going as it should. I hope things improve.

Benjispruce4 · 28/07/2022 08:37

@fallfallfall Thats a difficult one but I guess he has his reasons. DD was nearly broken up with recently but I was quietly relieved. Then they sorted it out.🙄

TheRealHousewife · 28/07/2022 09:40

Good Morning Everyone 😊

@fallfallfall hahaha extra heat is the last thing you want 🥵 Sorry to read about family relationships/break ups 🥺

@ImALittlePea well done on swerving the wine 🍷👍 Fingers crossed for you!

@Benjispruce4 @SanFranBear great step counts 👍👏

Going for a carb lite few days as I know my body hangs on to water if I have to many. I can feel yesterdays risotto swishing around my middle and tops of my legs 🥴😬

Menu
Meal 1 - Courgette, leek & potato soup.
Meal 2 - Massive salad with boiled eggs, chicken tenders and home made dressing.
Tea, black coffee, water, small apple, pecans & Greek yoghurt

Enjoy your day and whatever you’re doing do it with oomph and gusto!

Morning all! Another long row for me this morning, but I managed to stay off the haribos this time!

I’m now just 7km away from joining Concept2’s 1 million meter club. I’m already feeling really proud of myself. I can only imagine the smug glow I’ll get when I actually hit that goal 😂

Did you manage to find a dress @Lizsmum . I’m sorry to hear about the sad occasion for which you had to find one, but hopefully the shopping experience itself was a good one.

I did manage to go for that walk @SanFranBear , but DH decided to come with me so the pace was very gentle. It was nice to have the company though and to take the time to stand and watch the sea and all the wildlife for a bit. Your walk sounds lovely!

Lizsmum · 28/07/2022 10:36

I didn't find a dress @CrimsonAlligator , thank you for asking. I should have realised that - being the end of July - the shops would only have Autumn clothes. Silly me. But my daughter has persuaded me that I already have a dress which will be suitable. Thank you all for the sympathy but as my aunt was well over 90 (and stayed jolly to very near the end) it's not a very sad occasion. I think we'll all be sharing happy memories.

I suppose the shopping experience was good in a way as I tried on a size 18 dress and it was too big. NSV!

CrimsonAlligator · 28/07/2022 12:06

Finding that your usual size is now too big is definitely a NSV! Well done 😃

TheRealHousewife · 28/07/2022 16:03

@Lizsmum thats a fantastic NSV 👍👏

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 28/07/2022 18:08

oh @Lizsmum well done on the NSV.
@CrimsonAlligator i have a tiny tiny pack of haribo on my bedside (compliments of the bicycle company) and it reminds me of you! keep on rowing :) i'm not sure what i'm saving the 5 little jewels for but they are there.
it's a hot hot week, no outdoor exercise happening here but i will be doing my part. i'm a tiny bit envious of the hikers...well done everyone!

Benjispruce4 · 28/07/2022 18:27

B- oats with berries
L- I dipped a carrot in hummus before met a friend for coffee and chatted too long so was too late for lunch.
D- fish curry with basmati rice

SanFranBear · 28/07/2022 22:02

Well done on the NSV, LizsMum.. such a satisfying one as well. I'm sure your existing dress will be fabulous - your aunt sounds like a lovely woman.

I must admit, I've put off buying many new clothes but a lot of mine no longer fit so DD and I are going to a vintage market on Saturday where you pay by kilo! Not sure I'll find that much but DD is so excited...

Also well done on your willpower there, fallfall! Haribo are a real treat, I really do love them so, so don't have them in the house. And I'm sure, after rowing almost a million km's (holy bloody moly!!), an occasional bag won't hurt, CrimsonAlligator - huge well done.

I know Sunshine was trying to do the 2022km in 2022 but am sure someone else on the thread was aiming for it too? I may be misremembering... highly likely, in fact! I might aim for that next year....

I went for another hike this afternoon as DC both unexpectedly stayed away - really lovely part of the northern Forest and got a lovely pic of a pony... it looked up from munching at just the right time!

Adversity · 29/07/2022 03:29

Sorry for late check in but my mum in law is really unwell so DH has gone off to look after her, she is improving thankfully.

I am 9st 11 and 3/4 lb so have lost 1/2 lb not a huge amount but something :)

fallfallfall · 29/07/2022 04:06

@Adversity a loss is a loss! Heading in the right direction. Positive thoughts for MIL’s full recovery.

ImALittlePea · 29/07/2022 08:18

Well, after several weeks of fully expecting a gain but chipping away at the weight with losses, this week I didn't convince myself I'd gain and actually focused on losing that 4oz to lead me to the next milestone. And guess what? I bloody put on 1lb 4oz 😂😭

Honestly 🤦‍♀️😅

Obviously I'd have rather lost or at least STS, but I'm not going to let it deflate me. Looking back over the last week I'm not altogether surprised. My mind did flash straight to 'well I could have had that bloody wine/crisps/takeaway) but obviously that's just unhelpful thinking and if I had had any of those, the gain would have been more. So that's been put firmly back in its box.

I'd love to promise myself that I'll be back on it immediately, but given its the holidays and we're out and about a lot, eating on the fly etc, I doubt it'll happen like that. I'm making adjustments where I can though; I'm away with DS Sunday/Monday and have decided that I'll cook an early roast to have at home before we leave - means DH and DD are fed, and that we won't end up having dinner in the restaurant when we get there. Save some unnecessary extra calories and some money too. All those things will help limit the holiday gains, at the very least, I suppose?!

Today we're out for lunch at a family members, and then I'm out for dinner and drinks tonight with some old colleagues/friends tonight (although really don't want to go tonight for various reasons, but finding it hard to wiggle out of it). So that won't help.

Happy Friday everyone ☺️

Slightlystressedbride · 29/07/2022 08:19

@Lizsmum that's great, I do love a clothing related NSV!

The wedding tasting was lovely, thanks all. Just got a gazillion other things to sort now (including dress! Ha!) I am not a wedding dress person, having been to several bridal shops where the expectation is tears and overwhelming excitement, I've now discovered the beauty of online ordering! More dresses arriving today Grin

Benjispruce4 · 29/07/2022 08:33

@Slightlystressedbride oh I’d have loved that. I hated the wedding dress shop staff , very bossy in my day. 😂
Cheeky weigh-in and back to TW. Doing lots more walking than usual as off work.
Positive thoughts for your MIL @Adversity .Hang in there @ImALittlePea .

TheRealHousewife · 29/07/2022 09:23

Good Morning 😊

Wet wet wet here; not complaining as we really need it!

@SanFranBear How novel, I’ve never bought clothes by the kilo! Let us know how you fair 👍Lovely pony! 🐴

@Adversity Sorry to read about your mil. Here’s to a swift recovery! Scales are going in the right direction, it all adds up 👏

@ImALittlePea I hear your frustration and you're right in that if you’d had the wine/crisps the gain could have been more. Enjoy the holidays and try to not obsess to much (I know you won’t be really 😬) Down time is important too. Eating on the hoof can cause a bit of havoc, especially if you don’t know what’s available until you get there. I’d at least keep guzzling water as that can turn appetite down if it’s that your more thirsty than hungry.

@Slightlystressedbride Hope a wedding dress arrives that you’ll fall 8n love with! 👰‍♀️

Menu
Meal 1 - Courgette, leek & potato soup (same as yesterday as made a batch)
Meal 2 - Salmon, new potatoes, peas, carrots & broccoli (veg home grown 😊)

Exercise
Session 1 - Morning Yoga ✅
Session 2 - Hand weights. Arms are slightly toning up! Not Arnie standard or anything, just less of the bat wing going on.

3 Days of July left … that in itself is enough for me to not want to undo my progress to date this month which is standing at 2.7lb. Head space is in the right place too. We can do it lovelies!

MirandaWest · 29/07/2022 10:06

@SanFranBear 16 year old DD loves going to kilo sales - I think about half her wardrobe is from them. Many of her clothes either are or look like they are from the late 80s/early 90s which is when I was her age😂

I think my body is getting used to not snacking but it all feels very dull. I know I need to keep on doing it and I do want to weigh less but it feels a rather long process. Didn’t feel like having a walk before work so will need to walk more later

SanFranBear · 29/07/2022 10:22

Morning - and what a lovely morning it is here, too... the sun is out and the skies are blue. I'm in a very chipper mood as despite expecting a gain (and I'd put on 1.5kg when I checked after my holiday), all my walking and mindful eating has seen the smallest of losses today:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 76.3kg
July GW: 74.7kg

Just 100g from last Friday but couldn't be happier 😃Going to have some eggs shortly and we've got Gammon on the menu for tonight..

You sound really positive, RealHousewife - and your monthly loss is so well deserved. Enjoy your hand weights - I'm very impressed with your exercise schedule.

It'll start to drop off again, LittlePea - and I'm sure you're building up muscle with all your rowing... also, and most importantly, holidays are for enjoying - I've only been quite disciplined as my DC haven't been here!

Hope everyone else has a rather lovely Friday and has nice plans for the weekend.

SanFranBear · 29/07/2022 10:23

Ooh, cross post, MirandaWest... have to agree re my DDs sense of style - very reminiscent of me in my youth although she definitely carries it better.
