Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into July! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! It’s going to be a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Well, I wasn't as strict on myself as normal yesterday, but don't think I was TOO far over on calories...

L: cup-a-soup, veggies, small handful of crisps, greek yoghurt
D: crispy potato slices, southern fried chicken goujons, peas, followed by a individual pot of strawberry trifle 🤦‍♀️
Snacks: tea, a couple of extra sneaky nibbles of crisps. And LOTS of water.

I was invited out for drinks last night with a friend but declined and spent the evening drinking water and finishing my book instead. It was lovely!

This morning I've done a meal plan for the week and a big food shop.

Today's plan:
L: cup-a-soup and veggies (no crisps today!)
D: baked potato with chilli and cheese
Snacks: tea, water, and fruit if I need anything in between

Thanks for the continued motivation @TheRealHousewife I know I'll feel chuffed to bits (and spurred on to keep to plan) if I hit that target on Friday.

fallfallfall · 26/07/2022 19:27

@TheRealHousewife you're the diligent one with some inspiring posts, meal plans and reminders for gentle exercise!! and i'm following that plan due to the heat this week.
who's our biker gal? is it you @HouseofHolbein? i suffered a handlebar injury to my groin...not really painful and as is my style life goes on. but the bruise was beyond belief and after a few weeks i thought i'd get a medical opinion and yes no family dr's to be had and my only option after 2 days of wanting this bruise checked out is the emergency department (which would be a real waste of my time and of a service :( )
my new bike is lovely and the handlebars are now securely tightened.
the garden's looking lush and lots of hope for wax beans and zucchini, possibly even a cucumber or two. my cherry tomatoes are pea sized....but red and tasty...
lots of swiss chard, i'll need to buy some halloumi to go with that.
@Slightlystressedbride try and enjoy the tasting!

HouseofHolbein · 26/07/2022 19:32

@fallfallfall nope not me with the bike 🤣🤣 although I did a spin class that bruised my lady bits rather badly

fallfallfall · 26/07/2022 19:36

the lady bits are safe but we're talking eggplant colored (initially) and the size of dinner plate bruise to the area, worried about the femoral artery or vein being injured nicked or heaven knows because you don't bruise like that from a tiny blood vessel. looks like i'll be non the wiser at this point (unless i go to the emerg and i'm not that invested).

SanFranBear · 26/07/2022 20:49

I'm back from some very indulgent camping fun - I know I'll have gained this week but will get back on it tomorrow to try and mitigate the pain! I had a full English breakfast yesterday at a lovely little tea shop - it was divine but included a pile of bubble and squeak and black pudding.... sooo good!

You all sound very committed and healthy this week so hope you all have a great WoW tomorrow. I'm definitely going to go for a proper hike tomorrow to kick-start myself, yet again - may have two walking buddies but am actually craving some solitude! That might have to wait until Thursday, depending on DC plans..

Thanks as always for your wise words, RealHousewife - it may be the last week and I know I'm not going to hit my monthly goal but that's no reason to throw in the towel or take my foot off the pedals until the 1st.. tomorrow is, after all, a new day!

Hope the bruise improves, fallfall - that sounds truly painful Flowers

fallfallfall · 26/07/2022 21:32

Totally pain free @SanFranBear,
camping and good meals on the road!!! Sounds like a nice get away.

CrimsonAlligator · 27/07/2022 09:12

Morning all! I weighed in at 74.4 kg this morning. My record keeping has been a little erratic this month, so I don’t know if that’s an increase or a decrease compared to last week. It’s less than it was at the start of the week though, so I count that as a win 😊

I calculated my TDEE earlier this week and have increased my calorie goal as a result. I regularly exceeded my old goal anyway, often by a fair bit, so it will be interesting to see how things go if I stick to a higher goal but don’t exceed it every other day…

My plan for today:

Breakfast - Skyr with fruit & seeds
Lunch - falafel salad & a small portion of bulgur wheat
Dinner - matar paneer & rice

Exercise will be a walk. I quite fancy a walk to the beach, but not sure I’m in the mood for the 15 minute hill climb that’s needed on the way back. I may just ask my DH to give me a lift 😂

Fingers crossed you’ll hit that goal on Friday @ImALittlePea

Sounds like you had a great time @SanFranBear . I’m sure that any damage you may have done will be minimal. Good for you for getting straight back on plan!

That bruise doesn’t sound good @fallfallfall. I find that bruises on my legs often turn a spectacular dark colour, but the size of yours sounds particularly impressive. Is there anyone who can check that out for you?

Benjispruce4 · 27/07/2022 09:16

Morning just realised it’s WOW day. I’m still 1lb up after reaching target and I know I’ve relaxed a bit so will keep on as don’t want it to start to creep back up. Keeping up my walking and water intake just need to keep on the straight and narrow which can be hard now I’m at home for the summer hols.
SW:10st 4
CW:9 st 8
TW: 9st 7 ( under ideally)

Lizsmum · 27/07/2022 09:23

Just a pound off this week so 12stone 12lbs - a weight I haven't seen on my scales for several years.

I'm in awe of you all. Everyone seems so well planned in terms of exercise and food. I keep trying but ....

Your bruise sounds really impressive @fallfallfall . I once went to the GP with an unrelated issue and a similar bruise and she asked me about domestic abuse. In retrospect she was being very caring but at the time I was just embarrassed as I'd got it playing in a pool and falling down the slide. Mind you, she called it a haematoma which sounded impressive.

I'm off to try to buy a dress today - another thing I haven't done for years. It's for a funeral but we've been asked to wear 'summer dresses'.

TheRealHousewife · 27/07/2022 10:53

Good Morning WOWZERS 😊

A little over a lb down for me. Hasten to say Im pleased with my WOW and it’s looking like I’ll end the month a little over 2lbs down. For some people that wouldn’t be seen as significant. However for me it’s huge as I’ve not seen this weight since October 2021 😬. I’ve bounced up and down several lbs for nearly a year without any real loss. Moral of the story … never give up!

@HouseofHolbein Fabulous scenery 😍 Well done on your hiking!

@fallfallfall Sorry to read about your handle bar injury. I’m pleased it wasn’t worse! 🥴

@SanFranBear Sounds like you had a fabulous time! It’s important to go with the flow and let your hair down on holiday. The benefits of being together and enjoying yourself with friends and family is priceless. You’ll soon be back in the groove food wise 🙂

@CrimsonAlligator Well done on being down from last weigh in. I’m interested in your little experiment in regards to increasing your calories. Keep us posted 🙏

@Benjispruce4 Yes it’s a good idea to rein in the ‘creep’ before it gets out of hand 😬. You’ve done great overall 👍👏

@Lizsmum Well done on your loss and seeing a new low that you haven’t seen for years! It’s a great feeling 😊 Condolences 💐.

Menu
Meal 1 - Salmon fillet & salad. Avocado oil, white condiment & Greek yoghurt dressing.
Meal 2 - Halloumi, kale, carrot, red pepper & butter bean stir fry. Chilli oil.

Tea, black coffee and water. Pumpkin seeds, walnuts & pear.

Exercise
Session 1 - Hand weighs (doing now)
Session 2 - Yoga 🧘‍♀️

Enjoy your day!

Just weighed in for Wednesday and have managed 5lbs this week. I am using my old slimming world info. I know you always lose well on the first week so am hoping for between 1 or 2 lbs for next week. I am now 12 stones exactly so next week I hope to be 11 something. This is a good start so mustn’t lose focus. Well done to everyone sticking with their plans

TheRealHousewife · 27/07/2022 11:37

That’s a fabulous start @Daffyaboutdaffs 👍👏 Well done! You clearly know what works for you.

Daffyaboutdaffs · 27/07/2022 12:19

@TheRealHousewife thank you. I just have to keep it up. That’s the hard bit! But because I have my holiday as my goal I hope to remain focused.

MirandaWest · 27/07/2022 13:49

I think I'll weigh myself next Wednesday (my starting weight is from a week last Sunday and I weighed myself this Sunday) and then I'll keep to Wednesday weighing. This Saturday is our wedding anniversary and we're going out for dinner so suspect Sunday morning wouldn't be the best time to weigh anyway. Don't think I'll log my calories for that one!

CrimsonAlligator · 27/07/2022 14:10

A 2lbs loss for August is awesome @TheRealHousewife ! It must be a relief to see the scales moving again after such a long time 🥳

TheRealHousewife · 27/07/2022 14:22

@MirandaWest Happy Wedding Anniversary 🥳 Anniversary calories don’t count 😬

@CrimsonAlligator Thank you 😊 I thought I was at my bodies natural maintenance but pleased I’m not after all. To be honest the scales have moved plenty… up/down/up/down and repeat. I’ve been trying to work out total lost and gained since October … I’m too embarrassed to post 😳It’s Surprising how a 1lb or 2 going on and off again adds up 🙈

Benjispruce4 · 27/07/2022 14:53

@TheRealHousewife That’s fab , we’ll done. Can’t beat that feeling.😀

Benjispruce4 · 27/07/2022 14:53

Well !

fallfallfall · 27/07/2022 17:39

Lots of good weigh ins!! Well done but I’m super happy for you @TheRealHousewife
your meals and daily fitness paid off.
I saw 149.9 yesterday but 150.2 today, good news is a drs phone appointment.

TheRealHousewife · 27/07/2022 18:10

Thank you so much ladies (am I allowed to say ‘ladies’) it’s been a long time coming and I live in hope of reaching my original target 🤞🙂 I do think setting my intentions weekly/daily has helped and kept me totally focused. Also walking more has been beneficial (in a fashion 😬)

@fallfallfall You did it! Below 150 and it will soon return! Well done! Fingers crossed all goes well with your GP appointment too.

Menu change around today. Ended up having stir fry at lunch and OH has requested Mushroom & Parmesan Risotto for our evening meal.

Well done to you lovely WoWers today!

I've had a long but lovely day at the zoo with 7yo and a friend from school. Lunch was bad diet-wise (zoo cafe does nothing that isn't bread based, it seems 😏), but we did a LOT of walking and I didn't snack 🥳 I'm now stuck re dinner plans; we all had a big lunch so don't want my normal type of dinner, but I'm still hungry/want to eat. DH wants beans on toast - I don't want more bread. DS wants a toasted muffin with picky bits - again, not what I want. Help?! Inspired me?!

TheRealHousewife · 27/07/2022 18:23

@ImALittlePea Salad? If you have the bits in you can make it super delicious with boiled eggs, grated cheese and a home made dressing.

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 27/07/2022 18:53

@ImALittlePea , egg or halloumi on steamed greens with lemon drizzled.
burrata inspired salad, veggies and dip with a cup of boullion, soup? Alternatively lots of water/tea and skip the meal till breakfast especially if your not hungry.
@TheRealHousewife well the GP chuckled at the thought of a serious injury and suggested a hot pack to help it reabsorbe…it’s expected to reach 39C here today…no hot pack to the groin happening.

ImALittlePea · 27/07/2022 20:00

I went to the shop to buy some salad bits and some chicken breast but the shelves were totally bare! So I ended up with a veggie pot that I've had from there before (260 cals ish) and a corn on the cob! Followed by a pot of greek yogurt and pomegranate. Bit of an odd combo, but was actually tasty enough and filled a hole

I also bought some wine (it was on offer) but had decided by the time I got home that I wasn't going to have any.

This 4oz had better shift itself by Friday, all these sacrifices I'm making and all 😂

ImALittlePea · 27/07/2022 20:01

Thank you for the ideas @TheRealHousewife @fallfallfall - definitely options for another day.
