☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I’ve been weighing myself every day in an effort to make myself stay on track. Yesterday I was 93.9kg, and today I’m 95kg 😭 I’d been steadily losing over the last week, so hoping this is a blip. Any advice?! I’ve been doing intermittent fasting and low carb (but did have some breadsticks yesterday, which is perhaps to blame).

SW: 108kg
CW: 95kg (same as last week)
Goal: 75kg (mini goal of 80-85kg for my sister’s wedding at the end of August)

giatta · 29/06/2022 10:22

WoW
0.4kg up from last week. Kind of expected it, now reset and keep going.
SW 83.3kg
CW 80.1kg

Lizsmum · 29/06/2022 10:35

@ginsparkles enjoy!

123ROLO · 29/06/2022 11:22

Hi guys.

Loving the seaside pictures making me wish I was on my jollies.

I feel very weak from my diet, will continue to be super strict till Fri as I just want to see that big woosh to kick start my motivation, then I'll introduce a healthy calorie controlled balanced diet.

I haven't noticed my clothes fitting any different yet, I feel less bloated. I'm starting to think that my body has a real aversion to carbs, not that I could ever cut them out completely, I love pizza and pasta, but I might just reserve eating those foods in restaurants/ takeaways

Benjispruce4 · 29/06/2022 12:17

Not Wow yet. Will do tomorrow. Graduation of DD was fab, tiring and sprinkled with champagne and a 3 course meal but also lots of steps(13000) and a skipped lunch so could’ve been worse. Will see tomorrow.

milkfromthesleepycow · 29/06/2022 12:23

@Lizsmum good spot! I meant 9st 7. It's still within healthy range and was my pre pregnancy weight. I'm thinking 10st might be more realistic
Good loss yourself 😁

Chatterbox89 · 29/06/2022 13:48

Hi everyone, it’s not a good week for me after my weekend of indulgence, back up 2lbs from last week at 9st 6.6 but I expected that. Must get back on the straight and narrow this week!

A loss overall for the month so I’ll take that as a victory of sorts! Well done to everyone keeping going.

buzzofthebumblebee · 29/06/2022 14:17

Good celeb spot @TheRealHousewife - and yes, being on holiday (without toddlers !!) is very tiring. Lack of a to-do list means you can mentally switch off from the mundane, & you realise how tired you really are. My theory anyhow!

Some good stats - but very impressed by your overall loss @milkfromthesleepycow - very well done. When did you start? I'd love to get into the 10's. I got down to 11 2 and have been maintaining between 11 2 & 6 (7) ever since.

I didn't WOW after all today - I ended up having wine. So I've only myself to blame.

milkfromthesleepycow · 29/06/2022 14:37

@TheRealHousewife don't worry about the July thread- enjoy your holiday!

@buzzofthebumblebee started on Boxing Day, biggest loss was January (unsurprisingly!). I sound a little evangelical but it's really turned my life around. I almost feel like I'm back to the way I used to be pre kids. And I feel like it's all pretty sustainable, enjoying the exercise and I relax what I'm eating now and then when the occasion calls for it (mainly ice creams on the beach). Just need to stick at it and see where I end up!

ImALittlePea · 29/06/2022 15:07

Oh I love Olivia Colman - fab spot @TheRealHousewife 🤩

And yes to holidays being tiring... Although I'm chasing round after two young children so that may be a factor! 😅

fallfallfall · 29/06/2022 16:45

well finally 155.9!! now for the next 5.

@Welshgirl1234 it will be water retention from salt or hormonal variations. keep weighing in and charting your weight. you will soon see the pattern.
in the mean time keep up the good work. stay hydrated :)
@TheRealHousewife it's the salty air, it's infiltrated your system and it a bit of water retention ;) i foresee meal planning on the horizon.

ButteryNuts · 29/06/2022 17:05

Start of June: 13st 2
Week 4: 12st 1
Lost: 1st 1lbs

Happy with that result especially as weight loss has been up & down the past 2 weeks due to me going out for food/bbqs!

I've also ordered some new jeans in a size 14 and 3 out of 4 fit me so that's great - my old ones were an 18 and having to be hoisted by a belt to stay up! Not sure why only one doesn't fit when it's the same brand as another Confused Oh well, it's not far off so l'll keep them for next month

Welshgirl1234 · 29/06/2022 19:07

@fallfallfall hopefully you’re right about the salt retention. Im drinking more water than usual today to try and help. Im trying to see it as a good thing, as it’s given me a kick up the backside to do this diet malarkey properly!

@ButteryNuts - that’s an amazing weight loss - you must feel like a different person!

Lizsmum · 29/06/2022 20:21

@fallfallfall I absolutely love the idea that salty air can get inside you and cause water retention. I guess that similarly sitting in a bath for too long can do the same?😂

@ButteryNuts I'm very impressed that you dropped 2 sizes in jeans. I've lost almost 2 stone and although my size 18 jeans are too loose I certainly dont fit into a size 16 yet. Congratulations!

ButteryNuts · 29/06/2022 20:23

@Welshgirl1234 Thank you!

@Lizsmum They we're too big for
e before i started! But we're not getting ridiculous. I lost two stone last year and never got round to replace them Blush

ButteryNuts · 29/06/2022 20:24

For me*

Were*

ButteryNuts · 29/06/2022 20:24

Benjispruce4 · 29/06/2022 20:53

B half a bagel with peanut butter (very tired after 3 hrs sleep and needed somethings a bit dirty.😀
L salad with crumbled feta and grapes Apple, satsuma
D grilled chicken seeded wrap with shredded lettuce and sirracha.

SanFranBear · 29/06/2022 22:09

Wow (in the original meaning of the word!)... lots to catch up on today. Some great losses, as always - Buttery, yours is particularly noteworthy so well done! Great news on the jeans as well.

Welshgirl - water is my failing too.. I never drink as much as I should and it definitely makes a difference. If nothing else, cleans the pipes (I wee like a racehorse on the days I do actually remember!)

I hope you feel better tomorrow, 123Rolo - am I right that you were doing a juice fast? I'd be very careful if it's making you feel weak - can you add seeds or some protein powder or similar to just up the nutrition value?

Echo all the 'holidays make you tired' posters - I think its the daily grind vanishing and your body goes 😮 Enjoy it, RealHousewife - and thanks for all you do for us, even trying to set up the new thread whilst on an internet black hole!!

I had a nice WoW of my own this evening, down round the coast of the New Forest and out on a spit which has a castle and a lighthouse at the end... wasn't my longest but was quite late home so just had some crackers and cheese for tea (after smashing my brand new bottle of raspberry vodka on the floor - absolutely devastated!) Will hit the hay soon to mourn its wasted potential..

Adversity · 30/06/2022 01:19

I weighed myself and am just over 10 st.

Looking to get to 9 st.

Benjispruce4 · 30/06/2022 06:56

Just lost a whole post!!!! Grrrrrrr Mumsnet!!!!

Benjispruce4 · 30/06/2022 07:08

Sorry about your vodka @SanFranBear . I once smashed a while bottle of perfume I had just bought in duty free, in the airport loo. They’d never smelled better but I was devastated. DH (then BF) bought me another and I knew then he was a keeper.
@Adversity always weigh in the morning- might be lighter!
I’m still with 1lb of my plateau, slightly up after graduation scoffing. I’m ok with this. From graduation photos I think I looked slimmer than I feel I iam iyswim.

ginsparkles · 30/06/2022 07:52

Good morning. Well done to all the wowers!

Was weird at home last night without Ddog, so went out for dinner so we weren't staring at an empty dog bed.

Ended up having a ploughman's at lunch, and scampi and chips for dinner. Not the best but did do a good swim with DD after school.

Today everything's quick and simple as I collect Ddog after work.
Lunch : Moroccan Cous Cous with goats cheese and salad followed by strawberries and cherries with honey and yoghurt.
Dinner: home made chicken chow mien.

Have packed a banana for my mid afternoon snack.

123ROLO · 30/06/2022 08:57

@SanFranBear

I had to adapt the juice fast as I really couldn't cope on liquid alone. Now doing very calorie controlled keto with a juice as a meal replacement. I think early in a diet you get the crash phase, I'm going to stick it out today, then ease off tomorrow. Going to the lakes at weekend so will not be too strict.

I'm finding myself very frustrated with unreliability with clothing sizes! Any other tall women here? Ordered a dress from next, a dress from cupshe and a dress from asos yesterday, next fit absolutely fine, cupshe I couldn't even get it over my top half, asos I couldn't get it to zip. All size 12.

I imagine I'm upper end of 12, maybe 14, most of my clothes are a 12 but I mostly wear baggy clothes.

I find it very disheartening I gave a little tantrum when trying things on

CrimsonAlligator · 30/06/2022 10:44

Morning all! I’ve been away for a few days, so missed WoW. Mind you, with the amount I’ve been eating I think I need to stay away from the scales for a while 😂 Well done to everyone who’s registered a loss, or a stay-the-same.

@123ROLO I know what you mean about inconsistency in sizing. With dresses, I imagine some of it also comes down to the shape of the dress and how your weight is distributed across your body 🤔

I went through a brief phase of making my own clothes, which taught me that there are a hell of a lot of variables to consider if you’re trying to get a reasonable fit. There’s nothing “average” about my body, so it frankly amazes me if I find anything in a shop that sort of fits!
