☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Actually my BMI is 22.4(.2 is very important 😉)

milkfromthesleepycow · 23/06/2022 07:33

That's good @Benjispruce4
I'm also losing in grams/ ozs at the moment. But they all add up- I'm on 1.2kg off for June according to my scales app but it's been in dribs and drabs

I can't remember who it was that posted an article about the weight loss plateau a little while back but it was a good read and made sense. Essentially body readjusting to the new normal, so if you feel good it's all good! Losing will kick in again after ?a month or so

Going for a real run after the school run. Have run out of meal plan so going to have to wing it today (dangerous!!). Lots and lots of water too after I finish my third coffee

ginsparkles · 23/06/2022 07:49

Morning all

Well done @Riddlediddle @Gakatsbsk

Thank you all for your lovely comments about Ddog. Going to take her for a lovely walk in the sunshine today, fill her final days with her favourite things.

Day off work today, so sweet chilli chicken noodle salad for lunch and baked potato for tea.

@TheRealHousewife I agree with the others! You are ace! Thanks for keeping track and checking in with us all. This thread is such a lovely supportive place to be.

TheRealHousewife · 23/06/2022 08:49

Good Morning 😊

Thank you for your kind words 🥰 This page and all you lovely peeps help me too and for that I’m gratefull! ❤️

@Lizsmum I scroll back and forth to check who said what.😉

@Benjispruce4 The only thing I can get my Apple Watch to trend on is standing up at least once an hour and sometimes my sleep 😬 Well done on trending yourself! 👏

@Gakatsbsk Over 2 stone loss is significant, I’m pleased your friends/work colleagues are noticing and commenting. Shows it’s making a difference! You are more than half way there! Never, never give up! I mean that nicely, not in a bossy way ⭐️

@Vic1234567 I totally agree, lose or gain, acknowledging it helps us to move forward and just roll with it. Weight loss isn’t linear < said in a parrot voice as that’s what I must sound like 🦜 😬

Shouts from sidelines Don’t forget your water on your run @milkfromthesleepycow 👍💧

Menu
I don’t fancy what was planned as just so hot! Will see later.
Tea, black coffee, water 💧

Enjoy your day and don’t forget to stay hydrated!

PS - Has anyone read the piece in the paper about being able to stand on one leg for +10 seconds and how beneficial it is if you can! I passed! 😬

@Benjispruce4 sorry haha I got tired of typing the same thing every day... Usual lunch for me is a cup-a-soup and veggies on the side.

Another thanks and 'how do you keep up with it' from me, @TheRealHousewife!

What a beautiful dog @ginsparkles ❤️

Happy weigh in for me today, 1/2lb down - was expecting to STS! Nice starting place for our little holiday, looking forward to relaxing a bit for a few days but have packed a few cup-a-soups for an easy lunch as I don't want to be eating bread every day!

I'll probably be mostly absent until we're back next week, so have a lovely end of the week and weekend ladies!

milkfromthesleepycow · 23/06/2022 09:29

@TheRealHousewife I haven't read recent the article but saw similar previously. Well done on the pass!

I went through a spate of doing it previously while brushing my teeth. Then slipped and almost ended up with a toothbrush in my brain - don't do that!!

I've always had visions of you at some sort of tony stark-esque computer with all our posts displayed in the ether composing your customary personalised comments 😁 life is much more fun inside my head than outside

@ImALittlePea enjoy your holiday!

Welshgirl1234 · 23/06/2022 12:09

Joining this thread a bit late; but in desperate need of some motivation to lose weight (annoyingly I seem to have put on 2kg since the beginning of June, thanks to a wedding and a hen do!).
SW: 108kg
CW: 95kg 😭
GW: 75kg (mini goal of end of Aug of 85kg)

giatta · 23/06/2022 12:25

Thank you @TheRealHousewife yes it is a loss of 1.3kg since two weeks ago. I think I missed last week's weigh in.

TheRealHousewife · 23/06/2022 12:26

@milkfromthesleepycow 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That read so funny! sorry for laughing but I’m one of those awful people who laughs when people have mishaps (terrible of me but it’s just a visceral reaction 😬) Please don’t impale your brain with a toothbrush!!!

Welcome aboard @Welshgirl1234 👍

@ImALittlePea Well done on your loss! 👏

123ROLO · 23/06/2022 15:22

Hello everyone

Hope everyone is doing well, seems we are doing well and mostly sticking to plan and seen some good losses.

I've done ok, couple of mishaps but nothing major. Eating low to medium calories next few days then I'll do a couple of juicing days next week!

Had a personal trainer yesterday, realised how out of shape I am, but he said I'm showing promising signs of muscle memory ? ...also realised my nipple was poking out my bra during most of the session (which he would have had full view on doing planks) so not the best first impression...or maybe it is?

milkfromthesleepycow · 23/06/2022 15:24

@123ROLO I think it depends what you want out of a personal trainer.... 😂
I am so jealous though! Hope you find PT helpful

milkfromthesleepycow · 23/06/2022 15:25

@TheRealHousewife don't worry about laughing 😃I am incredibly clumsy and have no problem seeing the humour in it!

Benjispruce4 · 23/06/2022 17:18

Well done @ImALittlePea on your loss and yes I remember your cup a soup usual now .😀
B- mashed avocado on sourdough tiast
L- shredded veg salad with olives, apple
D- chilli on sweet potato

Benjispruce4 · 23/06/2022 17:20

@123ROLO Sounds like a scene out of Miranda 😂

Welshgirl1234 · 23/06/2022 17:23

@123ROLO how many days juicing are you planning on doing? Have you done it before, and do you feel better for it? Or just feel really hungry, and end up eating more the next day? I’m thinking about copying you and doing a day or two of juicing, but I’ve never done it before!

123ROLO · 23/06/2022 17:41

Benjispruce4 · 23/06/2022 17:20

😂 was dealt with in a very mirandaesque style!

Time for some better fitting bras me thinks

I couldn't commit properly to juicing I should have rephrased. I am doing smoothies. But, just mixing fruit/veg with water.

I've only found myself able to do one complete liquid day. I've got light headed and weak at the end of the day.

So my smoothie days have been breakfast smoothie, lunch maybe eggs or something, then smoothie for tea. Followed a day where one meal is replaced with a smoothie then I have two healthy meals.

I've not found myself tempted to binge after my very low calorie days, but I've found myself weak that's why I can't consistently do it.

It probably is not the healthiest approach, but for me to stay motivated I have to see a difference fast, and this is usually a way to do it, but I think to do it you have to have a plan of what to eat if you feel weak (eggs or porridge have been best for me) and a plan of how to ease out of it so you don't end up binging.

SanFranBear · 24/06/2022 07:46

Morning! It's my weigh day today and I'm delighted to have dropped another 1.5kg:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 78.2kg
June GW: 78kg

I'm pretty confident of hitting my (revised) June goal now and means I've passed the four stone milestone! I can't believe it, to be honest - lowest I've been in, well... over 13 years! NSV's this week as well - seen quite a few people in the flesh I haven't seen in ages and they've all been so complimentary...

I always tell myself my self worth is not tied up with my size and I do truly believe that - at my biggest, I didn't hate myself or anything. But it is so rewarding when people notice as it's not been easy!

Going to give myself a headstart for next month (can't believe that's next Friday!!) as out for a proper, long 22k hike today.. shame the sun seems to have disappeared - without losing any of the heat!!

123Rolo... sorry, but your PT story made me laugh a lot! Glad you felt able to style it out - I mean, not much else you could do!

Wishing you all a wonderful Friday!

Lizsmum · 24/06/2022 11:23

@SanFranBear you must be very pleased - that's a big loss for one week. May I ask how long it has taken you to lose 4 stone? I think I've got about 3 stone still to lose (almost 2 gone so far)?
I can totally relate to not feeling that weight and self worth are tightly linked. But it woukd be very nice if people noticed my changing shape, all the same.

Enjoy your hike!

TheRealHousewife · 24/06/2022 12:46

Happy Friday 😊

I don’t know where the mornings gone. Been busy doing house jobs and now need to pop out so just a quickie. Will post properly later!

same weight 4 days in a row. Guest arriving tonight for the weekend. i’ll need to stay focused.

SanFranBear · 24/06/2022 16:06

Thanks, Lizsmum - and, come next weekend, it'll have been six months since I overhauled my diet and about five months since I kicked my own arse and got much more active.

Back from my hike and phew - found it really tough going. The scenery was just beautiful though and the sky was kind of angry, which I loved!

Going to go fall in the bath and then consider what to have for dinner - to be honest, probably more Jambalaya as have to eat that up... but can afford a few treats this evening - maybe even have a glass of wine 🍷

Benjispruce4 · 24/06/2022 18:37

Wow @SanFranBear 4 stone is amazing! We’re on our way to Dorset.
B- porridge with water and yoghurt
L-quinoa salad, apple
D - a few almonds in the car but will eat more at some point as tummy is rumbling as lunch was at 12.
Happy weekend!

buzzofthebumblebee · 24/06/2022 19:00

Big Happy Friday to everyone too. I started off the week with good intentions, but it's been - another - whirlwind of a week, and so I haven't had time to post. Struggling to not cave into temptation. Not 100% success. Prob about 75%. But that's better than it used to be. Finding my energy is absolutely sapped in this humid heat. Or is it just me?

Another wonderful walk today then SanFran? I've managed 16k steps just locally dog walking x 2, and going to a friends (for a boozy birthday lunch with cake - oops). Again, better than nothing.

Made lentil & roast squash salad, and tomato basil & balsamic salad all ready for lunch tomorrow. Will have with some halloumi.

Dinner this eve is stir fry with salmon (with noodles, which I should probably do without so won't have too many).

Big snuggles to your DDog Gin.
