☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I would love to join you all, if I may?
I would like to lose at least a stone as I am currently 9st. 12lbs and can't fit comfortably in my clothes.
I am going to reduce my carbohydrate intake and stop snacking in between meals as this is my downfall.
Hope everyone has a successful month.

fallfallfall · 31/05/2022 23:05

i need to get onboard in a serious way.

Chatterbox89 · 01/06/2022 00:08

I’d love to join too if that’s okay! Will weigh myself in the morning to get my starting weight. Feeling quite sluggish and low energy at the moment as I’m snacking too much in the evenings. My aim is to get my 10k steps each day and calorie count I think. Here’s to a successful June.

HouseofHolbein · 01/06/2022 06:41

Weighed in for 1/6 at 9st 8.8lb. Would like to lose 1lb this month.

this week I am on holiday from work so I’ve relaxed the fasting a bit and my exercise is down a bit too. Not worried about either I need the break.

off to visit my mom today 😊 catch you all later x

SanFranBear · 01/06/2022 07:03

Happy May, everyone. Surprisingly successful WoW this morning which is a good way to start the month:

SW - 104.7kg
CW - 80.5kg
June GW - 76.2kg

Really stretching the ole target there but will take me to 12st which I haven't weighed since pre DC. I'm not sure it's attainable but if I get close, I will be delighted and might as well make it a challenge (until I fail, of course, and will then be cursing myself!)

Also had an NSV yesterday - DD and I played Just Dance for the first time in aaaaaages, and I not only kept up with her but I didn't hurt, even when doing the stupid 'down to the floor' moves. Sounds bit ridiculous but I'm doing this to be there for my DC more than anything and the difference in how I feel from the start if the year is so marked... still like to lose a fair whack but my body seems to 'work' again!

Graphista - you asked for butternut squash recipes in your last post on the old thread. The BBC Good Food site has an amazing pumpkin muffins recipe which I use butternut squash in place of the pumpkin (you roast it for about 40 minutes so you've got the puree ready). They work out about 265 calories, so not crazy low but really tasty and filling:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/pumpkin-muffins

Hoping this gorgeous weather holds as out for a decent walk later. Off to have a celebratory cup of tea - looking forward to breaking my Dry May tomorrow with a few cold ciders!

Purplecarnation · 01/06/2022 07:07

Checking in. I'm almost obese, bmi 28 and I'm going to try the 16/8 this month and see if I can shift a couple of stones.

I'd love to know if this has worked for others.

SanFranBear · 01/06/2022 07:09

Oh my goodness.. I didnof course mean Happy June 🤦🏻‍♀️

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/06/2022 07:14

Morning all!

SW 14st 4
CW 11st7
GW 10st (ish)

Logging a total of 7.9lbs off for May, which I'm happy with. June goal will be to get to 11st. That will bring me into the healthy BMI range for my height- just!! May not be totally achievable but think I'll get a good portion of the way there

@SanFranBear just dance is hard core! Impressive NSV. As we enter the time of year for BBQs and dancing it might also prove useful?

@HouseofHolbein enjoy not being at work. Good for the soul

Onwards and downwards for the month!!

MountainMummy95 · 01/06/2022 07:27

Mind if I join you all??

SW: 12st 4lbs
CW: 11st 13lbs
GW: 10st ish

I'm generally just cutting the junk and making healthier choices. I'm sick of diets making me feel that I cant eat anything. I ate a LOT of sweet stuff... was genuinely starting to get concerned I was going to do damage to my body. (Just my own intuition, no medical grounding for that). But I've just generally been trying to drastically reduce my 'added sugar' intake. Seems to be working well!!
I am also starting my TTC journey with baby #2, so I'd like to get in better shape for that!

Best of luck to you all 😊

Benjispruce4 · 01/06/2022 07:35

Morning all and pinch punch first of the month to you all! Welcome newbies!
No whoosh this morning, still maintaining for the last 10 days!!! I’m ok with that as lost 8lbs last months which I’m chuffed with. Only 3 or 4 to go so I’m just going to plough on.
SW:10st 4 bmi 23.9
CW 9st 10 bmi 22.6
GW 9st 6 bmi 22

LightningStar · 01/06/2022 07:47

Hi everyone

I felt it was time for a change as I have been worrying about how much personal stuff I post on here. My precious name was all about the hottest star and a gateau.

@fallfallfall we have you. The past weeks have gone. Imagine it all in your hand then squeeze. Let it go and we will all start afresh with you.

Thank you for the hugs @SanFranBear . I told DH last night I was heart broken and terrified. I was awake at 2 and could hear her going up and down the stairs and I thought I heard the front door go. I couldn't get back to sleep then for ages and I am shattered. Well done on your successful WOW and great dancing!

I have been thinking about you @@Puffalicious my fellow 🐢🐢🐢, thank you for your kind words and I hope you are okay ? Your 5lb down for May is wonderful. Well done. ⭐️ for you. I only did 4.4 lb but I was pleased with that. No chocolate for 16 days and no alcohol for the whole of May.

I have had anxiety for a few years @Graphista and it usually shows in chest pain, trouble breathing but yesterday was a whole different thing. I couldn't get the first three things on my list that I really wanted so I went in the next shop and didn't know why I was there and just felt all panicky. Bit embarrassed now tbh. What about a soup or butternut squash muffins?

Welcome @PamelaShipman80 and @Namechangenumber23 .

I am glad you are feeling better @Benjispruce4 .

Good luck with your training @CrimsonAlligator and that is an incredible loss total @BellyDancer124 !

Welcome @Riddlediddle, @Chatterbox89 and @Susiesouthdown .

Welcome @Purplecarnation . I am doing IF as can't cope with calorie counting. I run 5-6 days a week and also have a dog I walk at least once a day, sometimes twice. Good luck. We will all help and support you.

@milkfromthesleepycow well done you! I think you have lost the most for May ⭐️ ⭐️

For the newbies
I'm 50, five foot four
Start weight in October 2019 14 stone due to illness I didn't know I had.
May 2020 12 stone 9 and started running.
Yesterday I was 11 stone 9.6.
GW 10 8 for now as that was the lowest I had got to before GF and a broken elbow happened.

Have a good day everyone. I'm going to Asda after I have run and walked the dog and I am apprehensive about it after yesterday.

LightningStar · 01/06/2022 07:49

Welcome @MountainMummy95 . I stopped chocolate and sweets as decided sugar was the issue for me and I have surprised myself how much I've not missed it. I love chocolate usually !

Maintaining is a win in my book @Benjispruce4 !

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/06/2022 07:58

@LightningStar I'm only three coffees in and it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out the riddle!!
Thank you for the stars and enjoy your run x

@Benjispruce4 a maintain is great. You're well within the healthy range, maybe you're body is adjusting it's set point? I do subscribe to that theory!

@Purplecarnation IF worked for me but I've never been a breakfast eater. Used to force myself to have one while in diets previously- silly really. I suspect cutting out sugar from my coffee did more than anything! Quite enjoy it black now

Welcome to everyone else, it's really supportive on here

Benjispruce4 · 01/06/2022 08:05

I agree @milkfromthesleepycow and I’m not complaining. I can’t believe I’ve lost Iover half a stone tbh as I’ve not really felt hungry at all.
I’ve just done another LFT and it’s still positive! Aaggghh!

simoer · 01/06/2022 08:07

I'm joining today, I'm slowly creeping back up to my heaviest ever and haven't been able out the breaks on, let alone lose any.
My aim is to eat healthily and cut out the crap and constant snacking.
SW is 14st7, I'd love to get below 10st, but happy just to lose a couple of stone this year. Short term I'd like to lose a stone for the summer holidays.
I'm hoping a bit of accountability on here will help keep me on track.

ButteryNuts · 01/06/2022 08:27

I started a VLCD yesterday after my weight being stagnant for a few months. I lost in Jan-March but have some more to go!

I don't think i've ever been part of one of these threads before but I hope it helps

1st of June Stats;
SW: 13st 2
Waist: 40"
BMI: 30.6

Chatterbox89 · 01/06/2022 08:42

Thank you @LightningStar and everyone else.

Starting weight today: 9 stone 11.1
My aim for this month to lose a pound per week if possible.

Hopefully this thread and all you ladies will keep me focused. Just time for tea this morning and will have a late breakfast/early lunch around 11/12 o clock.

milkfromthesleepycow · 01/06/2022 08:49

Another NSV- just did my measurements and I've lost 8in off my waist and 6in off my hips since January! My waist to height ratio is 0.52 so almost there
Still got a good overhang from my c section scar, not sure that'll ever go completely but should hopefully reduce as I lose

@Benjispruce4 fingers crossed you go negative soon. Really good that you're not feeling like you're dieting, sustainability rules!

@simoer @ButteryNuts I've found the accountability and advice here very helpful. I didn't post for months (but now I can't seem to shut up!)

Benjispruce4 · 01/06/2022 09:01

@milkfromthesleepycow thats an amazing NsV and more important than weight for your health. Well done you! ’
I know lots of people aren’t testing anymore but I have a few left. I can go out and about tomorrow as it’s 5 days on guidance now but it’s a shambles really because if there’s no free tests people won’t bother to buy one. I have to do what feels right for my conscience though. I’ll wear a mask if I’m in a shop from tomorrow.
Just wanted to say to those just starting that it feels so good to just get 5lbs off and it will really benefit your health. I visualise my weight loss as a lb (or 2) of mince each time I lose. It’s loads so don’t be disheartened, it will happen.
Dont know if I read it hear or heard someone else refer to ‘balancing the books’ in relation to their eating habits and I think that’s a helpful analogy. If you’re making lots of credits, you can afford a debit now and then. 😀

Wizzwazzwas · 01/06/2022 09:19

Morning everyone!

Happy June Grin

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 81.5kg

Aims for this month are swim more, keep the walking regular, and keep progressing with C25k even if not as often as plan days. Week 6 run 3 next so it's all continuous running now.

Hayfever is killing me right now which is really putting me off exercising. Off work for half term though which is helping with doing some meal prep. And I managed to eat all the right things yesterday on a day out with the kids, which is astonishing given what they ate! I'm definitely getting better at just waiting it out if there are no health options.

Hope you all have sun today!

TheRealHousewife · 01/06/2022 09:30

Good Morning & Happy 1st June 🙂

Welcome to the thread @Susiesouthdown @ButteryNuts @MountainMummy95 @simoer @Chatterbox89 @LightningStar😬@PamelaShipman80 @Purplecarnation Great ladies on these threads who are happy to offer support and guidance. Usually a positive vibe too! There are never harsh words or bickering 😬

Welcome back @fallfallfall @LightningStar

@milkfromthesleepycow thats a great result, well done! 👍👏

@HouseofHolbein You sound in a very good place. You’ve done great over the months! 👍👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Cheese & Chorizo Omelette in a spicy corn tortilla.
Meal 2 - ? Undecided which is unusual for me.
Tea, coffee, water.

As someone said upthread (sorry forgot who) getting the water in and staying hydrated is very important! Helps with satiety and keeping things moving 😬

Have a good one ladies! Whatever you’re doing do it with gusto!

Hi June losers! ❤

Overall so far this year I'm down 1st 2lb. I've seriously plateaued over the last couple of months, since hitting the 1st loss mark early April. On the one hand, I'm not unhappy with my size and shape; I've not been nearly as strict as the first quarter of the year and still lost slowly, so to achieve this is great - maybe I'm at (or nearly at) my new floor weight? On the other hand though, I'd still like to lose another 1/2 stone. My target for this was a family trip at the end of June, but realistically this is unlikely to happen, so I'm going to set my sights on losing this 1/2 stone by our next trip in August.

I normally weigh Fridays, but I did hop on today and had gained just over 1lb since last Friday. Considering the week I've had (a bottomless brunch, fast food, more bread and crisps than I normally eat nowadays), I'm not surprised at all. I'm going to try and keep on track for the rest of the week and weigh again Friday.

I loosely follow 16/8 - not religiously (I have a cuppa in the morning which technically breaks fast, but I don't actually eat anything until midday). I avoid crisps, bread and wine during the week. Try and limit calories to 1200 a day. But I don't restrict myself at all at weekends (maybe I need to start to see of this last half stone....); I want to lose weight for my wellbeing, health and vanity, but life is also for living and I like food and drink.

What I'd LOVE to achieve this month (and I know I've said this every month to date..) is to fit some exercise in. Regular, scheduled exercise. Gah - watch this space?!

WELL DONE to everyone with net losses and NSVs over the last month! Love to everyone that needs it, and thanks to everyone for continually supporting me/each other.

Benjispruce4 · 01/06/2022 09:32

No sun here, just cold rain! 😣 But it’s sunny in my soul! 😎

CrimsonAlligator · 01/06/2022 09:55

Morning all! So many new posts this morning 😱

Well done on your NSVs @SanFranBear and @milkfromthesleepycow . I find NSVs as motivational, if not more so, than the numbers of the scales, so well done!

@LightningStar panic attack are a horrible thing to go through. I was diagnosed with a severe panic attack disorder about five years ago. It got to a point where I couldn’t leave the house, or be around people. If it happens again, please please please see a doctor. The sooner you get help, the easier it will be to get them under control. I left it way too long myself, but I am pleased to say I did manage to get on top of it eventually. So even if it gets really bad there is always hope. Big hug to you 🤗

Right, back to weightloss. I’m starting the month on 74.2 kg and my goal will be to get back to the weight I was before May hit me! So that’s about a 1.5 kg loss I’m aiming for. Good luck everyone!
