☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Maybe @Riddlediddle . BMI 22 is 9st 6 and that’s why I’m aiming for that plus on another website my ideal weight is 9st 3 so I’m not far off. I am happy and clothes look and fit nicely but can feel where a few pounds could come off. I think I could up my exercise as I only walk at the moment.

Riddlediddle · 27/06/2022 16:21

@Benjispruce4 you sound very similar to me in terms of height and weight and what your goals are. Good luck you can do this! X

Benjispruce4 · 27/06/2022 22:55

Thanks @Riddlediddle . I’m 5ft 5. Was 9st- 9st 4 pre DC 21+ years ago.
Arrived for DD graduation tomorrow. Got some sushi (under 309 cals)on the way so a low day today but barely any steps apart from work so needed to be.

fallfallfall · 28/06/2022 01:57

the weekend is over, the little family back at their home :).
food choices were salty but certainly not calorie laden. i look forward to seeing how i end the month...this mornings weigh in was close to a 2lb gain which is NOT likely.

fallfallfall · 28/06/2022 05:07

Oh my in the interest of accuracy, I decided to enter the little pumpkin seeds I’ve nibbled on each time I’ve entered the pantry. Only 8-12 of the tiny lightly salted jewels maybe 50gm at most by the days end….280 calories!

Benjispruce4 · 28/06/2022 06:22

Nutritious though @fallfallfall !

milkfromthesleepycow · 28/06/2022 07:34

It's easily done @fallfallfall. I weighed out a 150 cal portion of peanuts. It was much smaller than my usual portion!

SanFranBear · 28/06/2022 07:35

Wow, fallfall - I had no idea pumpkin seeds were quite so calorific. But does remind me of something I read somewhere which is basically that not all calories are born equal - you'll get far more from your 250 calories of pumpkin seeds than you would from 250 calories of jelly beans, for example. I think that's one of the reasons that calorie controlled diets have come under a bit of fire lately as they're quite right.. but it's an easy way to measure 'in and out' - you've just got to be mindful at the same time!

Have fun at your DDs graduation today, Benji - got to celebrate all that hard work!

You're all doing so well - especially those of you within spitting distance of your goal weights... inspiring!

Hope you're feeling fully recovered now Holbein and that your break away is doing you the power of good, RealHousewife.

I'm making a DC favourite for tea (honey roasted sausages) which means need to be a bit more 'on it' during the day. Had salmon last night and have a fillet left over so will have that with salad for lunch, try not to snack and drink lots of water (my downfall!)

Have a great day, everyone!!

HouseofHolbein · 28/06/2022 08:19

I still ache 🤣🤣 had a very gentle run last night which helped. Work at 12-30 then tomorrow off.

Still guzzling water and trying to be sensible with food 😊 might make egg mayo rolls for tea at work 👍 other than that no idea what I'm eating!

Good luck everyone with today's food and exercise and self care 😊

ginsparkles · 28/06/2022 08:35

Hello, so much to catch up on.

@HouseofHolbein well done on the half marathon! You are awesome!
@Benjispruce4 well done on your post hols weigh in! All that walking!!!!

I have realised I have a month until we go away for our long awaited (and delayed ! ) anniversary trip. So I have a month to sort myself out. Head in the game.

Todays plan:
Salmon sushi rice bowl at lunch.
Good old fashioned beans on toast planned for tea! Quick and simple!

I will post daily! I will hold myself to account to you all.

pennysays · 28/06/2022 09:01

Morning everyone. Here to celebrate finally hitting below 70kg on the scales this morning! 68.95kg…. I’ll take it!

still following the whole food, plant based diet as suggested by Michael Greger in How Not to Diet. As I’m vegan already it’s not too much of a stretch. It’s nice not to be counting calories as well as that just doesn’t feel sustainable. Also feels helpful to have spent a week or so listening to audio book on my library app so I’m making choices that are best for my body and best for weight loss.

anyway. Happy Tuesday everyone.

buzzofthebumblebee · 28/06/2022 09:15

Congrats on being in the 60's @pennysays !! Hard work paying off.

I agree on the sunflower seeds - nutritional content and fibre benefits totally outweigh calories @fallfallfall (in fact don't they stay whole, so not even totally ingested? clutching at straws!!)

Amazing to be almost back to pre-DC weight at DD's graduation @Benjispruce4 - hope you have a great day.

I got on the scales again, and weight still up 2lbs. So yesterday's "blip" is pure fact. There. Fessed-up now !! I'm just back from 5km run, and will drink as much water as I can today.

Hope everyone else has a good day.

campingqueen121 · 28/06/2022 11:13

Hi, hope you're all doing well, will you have me back? Apologies I went AWOL, I got covid then another virus and it all went a bit down hill. I was in the last week of couch 2 5k when covid got me and it really knocked me, I tried picking up where I left off after but that made me worse and then I gave up entirely. I've regained a few lbs but I'm still not back to my New year weight which is a bonus, I've been yoyoing 127-130 lbs. I've not been doing any exercise or really watching what I eat so hopefully a little bit of discipline I'll be back on track. Will restart T25 and calorie counting with mfp and will pick up c25k in next few weeks. Will weigh in properly tomorrow.x

milkfromthesleepycow · 28/06/2022 13:15

Excellent @pennysays!! Into the 60s 👏👏

ImALittlePea · 28/06/2022 13:17

Afternoon all! Soooo much to catch up on!

@TheRealHousewife I hope you're having a great time on your impromptu break - your packing mishap did make me chuckle a little (sorry) but a great holiday story to tell!

Well done on your run @HouseofHolbein!!

And just a general wave to everyone else 👋

We had a really lovely few days away - although holidaying with a toddler is NOT relaxing at all (we never did it with the eldest so wasn't really prepared for it)! But the children really enjoyed themselves, so we did too (and thankfully they both held relatively normal bedtimes so we could flop with a drink once they were down).

Diet went so far out of the window since weigh in last Thursday, but I knew it would, it was all bloody enjoyable and have hit reset (again) today.

Lunch - cup-a-soup etc
Dinner - Quorn nuggets, sweet potato wedges and veggies

Not massively keen on weighing in on Friday, but I will do it nonetheless.

Here's a little pic from our break.

Quick visit ….

Fabulous beach @ImALittlePea 👍😍. Simply lovely!

Just got back from visiting Blakeney which was quaint. Sat outside a lovely hotel having a lunch of crab on gf bread when Olivia Coleman and her husband walk past 😮. Completely natural and make-up free in regular clobber. She looked lovely.

Anyways back in shower before out for evening meal. Anyone else find it tiring being on holiday? 😬 I could go to bed now and not get up until the morning 🤣

I would like to join, I need to lose about 3/4 stone, well that’s how tight my clothes feel. It has all happened post menopause and if anything I’m eating less.

Food today

A small bowl of porridge for breakfast, no toppings and a glass of squeezed orange juice
A tin of baked beans for lunch with two slice of wholemeal bread
Salmon with steamed veg
A banana

Walked for 30 mins, I usually do an hour but had a lot of phone calls to make. I should have had half a tin of beans

fallfallfall · 28/06/2022 22:53

welcome @Adversity , sounds well balanced.

milkfromthesleepycow · 29/06/2022 06:21

WOW
SW 14st 4
CW 11st 0.8lb
GW I'm not sure now!
Loss for June 6.6lbs

Both pleased and annoyed!! So close to breaking the 11st barrier (which would put me in healthy BMI range) But happy with it overall.
I was originally aiming for 9st but Not sure how healthy I'd be at that weight now. My body fat is at 37.6% so definitely want to get that to under 35.
Mini goal for July is to lose 6lbs which will put me firmly in the healthy BMI range

Off to do my waist and hip measurements
Good luck to any other WOWers

ginsparkles · 29/06/2022 07:05

Welcome @Adversity ! Sounds like a delicious day of food!

Well done @milkfromthesleepycow ! Great June loss!

Wow for me, showing a gain from the end of May which was to be expected really. But 3lbs down this week so I am very happy with that. Will be back under the 12st bracket next week for sure. All fired up and determined to get myself as close to 11 as humanly possible before our gourmet trip !!

Todays food is a bit up in the air, out with mum at lunch and then out with SD tonight so will just make a sensible choices as possible. Ddog is off into the vet for a procedure over night tonight, hoping for a miracle

HouseofHolbein · 29/06/2022 07:25

Weighed in. I'm up 0.25lb from last week and down 0.5lb for the month. I've eaten more and moved less since Sunday 🤣🤣 which has to change but tbh I have very little left to lose so I'm happy with my microscopic results 🤣🤣

Adversity · 29/06/2022 07:49

I have a pair of jeans that are at least a decade old that are my indicator and haven’t weighed myself for years but we do have scales so am going to do this. I do feel it’s more of a post menopause thing for me. I went up two bra sizes and fat has shifted to my tum.

I would have usually had a baked potato smothered in lovely butter with my salmon. That’s what I’m planning on doing, no carbs in the evening. DH had one but he is still as slim as when we met and still eats huge amounts.

Lizsmum · 29/06/2022 08:00

SW 15 st
CW 13 st 1
GW dont know but overweight rather than obese would be good

A loss of 2lb this week and still on course to be 13 st by the time I go to France next Saturday. 5lbs lost in June.

That's an impressive loss this week @ginsparkles. Good luck with getting to where you want to be. A gourmet trip sounds lovely - but quite a challenge . I hope all goes well for your dog.

You're so close to where you want to be @HouseofHolbein that a microscopic result is a great result.

@milkfromthesleepycow I'm a bit confused - if being just under 11 stone would put you in the healthy bmi range why would you try to be 9 stone? Or have I completely misread your post. Your results are inspiring.

ginsparkles · 29/06/2022 08:02

@Lizsmum thank you... no challenge in the gourmet weekend! I have been waiting 2 years for this, so I'm going to eat what I like, drink what I like and then get back to sensible when I get back! 😂

TheRealHousewife · 29/06/2022 08:31

Good Morning 😊

Welcome to the thread @Adversity 👍

Unable to WOW as don’t have scales. From how clothes fit perspective I know I’m up 😬. No worries will be back on it soon enough.

I will try to get LOSE IT! July 2022 created today, signal sketchy.

Fingers crossed for all of you in achieving good WOWs! Don’t worry if it isn’t what you’d hoped for, just keep going!
