☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@ginsparkles 😢So sorry to hear about your beloved family pet dog.The absolute hardest thing about owning a dog, no matter their age, is the goodbye 💔

@HouseofHolbein You little star ⭐️Super Fit Super Slim Super Women you ⭐️ A bit of salt in with your water/squash. You’re electrolytes might be out of whack with all the exercise coupled with the heat.

@ButteryNuts Overall you’re doing great! There’s no short cut, no magic pill, no miracles. Just consistent and sustainable healthy eating and exercise ( include light weights/strength training) if able (research suggests this accounts for a very small % of weight loss but it does give definition and firms up muscles as well as making you aerobically fitter) Keep on doing what you’re doing 👍👏

Enjoy your hike @SanFranBear !

SW 15 st
CW 13 st 3
GW who knows long term but 13 st by July 9th
A loss of 2lb

Still hoping to be 13st - or a smidge under that - by July 9th when I go to France for a week. It's for a French immersion course, staying with a host and attending classes/activities. My control over what I eat and drink will be limited and somehow I don't think I'll be saying no thank you very much. So I need a bit/a huge amount of wiggle room.

I hope the tests for your dog are helpful @ginsparkles . It's a really hard decision for you.

ButteryNuts · 22/06/2022 09:05

Thank you @TheRealHousewife. I just have to knuckle down and keep going!

HouseofHolbein · 22/06/2022 09:11

Good call re the salt @TheRealHousewife ! I'll do that 😊 feel a bit better after some food which is good

CrimsonAlligator · 22/06/2022 09:35

Morning all! 73.3 kg on the scales for me this morning. I had a bit of an erratic day food wise yesterday, so I’m not sure if that’s a small loss or just the result of not eating much yesterday 🤔

I’m so sorry to read about your dog @ginsparkles . A packet of bourbons sounds restrained considering the circumstances.

giatta · 22/06/2022 10:02

Morning everyone,

SW 83.3kg
CW (1st June) 81.9kg
CW 79.7kg

I have an event planned on Friday, so no gym class on Saturday morning, but should be able to get on with my diet.

Well done to all WoWers

Chatterbox89 · 22/06/2022 13:19

Hi all sorry for the late post, I weighed in at 9stone 4.5 this week so loss again which I’m pleased with. I am away this weekend though and there will be lots of food and drink so not sure how well I will stay on the wagon! The hot weather seems to help me as I drink more water and manage to stop some of the usual snacking. Well done to everyone this week and thanks for all the helpful updates which keep me focused!

ImALittlePea · 22/06/2022 15:53

cheering on all the WoWers from the sidelines!

So sorry to hear about your dog @ginsparkles I hope the further tests give some a promising outcome.

I've had an odd day, one which has felt equally productive and not. Building up to holiday but not allowing actual holiday mode to kick in until after I've stepped on the scales tomorrow 😅

L - usual
D - homemade wedges, a veggie lattice thing from Aldi (spinach, cheddar and asparagus I think) with peas

Benjispruce4 · 22/06/2022 16:38

Hi everyone. Well, what a wally I am! Totally forgot it was Wow day. Somehow I knew it was Wednesday work wise( I cover a different class each day) but before I got there I was in Tuesday mode. Is this menopause or just general eejit behaviour?
So I’ll weigh in the morning.
B- Poached egg on seedy toast
L- salad with hummus, apple, 2 little clementines.
loads of water all day
D-baked salmon with steamed broccoli and a few sweet potato wedges.
Thanks @TheRealHousewife for weekend wishes. DD2 sat last A level paper today 🙏
Sorry about your news @ginsparkles.Good luck with second opinion.

Benjispruce4 · 22/06/2022 16:39

@ImALittlePea what is ‘the usual’ ?

ginsparkles · 22/06/2022 16:47

fallfallfall · 22/06/2022 17:39

i'm sorry to hear about the doggie woe's @ginsparkles , i hope he is comfortable he sure looks adorably sweet!!
all's well enough over here, morning weight down .2 from yesterday.
the suppliments i was hoping to buy don't seem to be available or don't ship to canada. but i'll be able to find the fiber/protein/vit d and collagen that's suggested on this "plan" locally.

SanFranBear · 22/06/2022 19:09

Aw, Gin... adorable! Give them a little stroke from me ♡

Some great losses happening today (and don't worry, Benji - I can't remember things about 5 minutes after I've thought of them... definitely menopause!) and some lovely food inspirations.

I'm going to cook the Pinch of Nom Jambalaya for myself this evening as its not a meal my DC would eat but as I'm off for a few days, will do me lunch as well as tea! I will admit I'm going to add in proper chorizo sausage and also bought some tiger prawns so mine will be a bit more calorific but it's not jambalaya without decent spicy sausage!

Lush walk in the sun (coated myself in suncream as it is scorchio down here at the moment!) Fairly flat which was unexpected but beautiful blue skies, rolling hills and lots of butterflies, fish and dogs... there is a sort of swimming hole and two dog walkers were there with their packs - it was carnage but absolutely adorable! There's also lots of rabbits round Winchester at the moment - a summer trail for the kids, I think. This one was my favourite of the six I came across 😆

milkfromthesleepycow · 22/06/2022 19:32

Love the rabbits!!
@ginsparkles dog is adorable, hope tests give good results

Decided not running this evening as it's far too hot here! Plan to drink lots of water instead

L: frittata
D: soy tuna with garlic mushrooms and seaweed rice (DH has been looking at cookbooks again 😂)

Been really craving sugary things for the last few days. Usually as soon as I've finished dinner so I know I don't need them. Trying distraction!

Riddlediddle · 22/06/2022 20:32

Hi everyone
I've been so busy with work that I haven't posted in a while but ive just done a brief skim read back and it seems like everyone is doing really well on their weight loss journey's. I weighed in today and I've gone below the 10stone mark (woohoo!!!!!!). Was lovely seeing 9 at the start of my weight on the scales - very motivating!
SW = 10st 12lbs
CW = 9st 13lbs
GW = 9st 6lbs
Let's do this!!!!!!!

fallfallfall · 22/06/2022 20:56

tonight's menu. hint to anyone who tries this, do up the spaghetti squash early.
i'm totally on board to see the numbers continue to drop. been checking out clothing...

TheRealHousewife · 22/06/2022 21:03

@Lizsmum Well done on your loss! 👍👏

@ButteryNuts thats the spirit! 😊

@CrimsonAlligator Fingers cross the loss sticks!

@giatta Is that a loss you’ve posted? Well done!

@Chatterbox89 on a bit of a roll… great progress!

@Benjispruce4 sounds like you might be a bit frazzled due to being a very busy working mum! I don’t know how you do it!

@ginsparkles what a cutie 🥰🥰

@fallfallfall Well done on dropping a bit more 👍

Love the hare statue @SanFranBear, really colourful and would brighten anyones day.

@milkfromthesleepycow tasty menu 😋😋😋

@Riddlediddle Congratulations on breaking the 10s and into the 9s. You’ve done marvellously well! 👍👏⭐️

fallfallfall · 22/06/2022 21:05

well done @TheRealHousewife for staying on top of all of this!!

Benjispruce4 · 22/06/2022 22:07

@TheRealHousewife I don’t really consider myself a working ‘mum’ . Yes I’m working but my DC are adults at 21 and 18 and the eldest is at university so it’s just the 3 of us and dog in the house. Much harder for working mums of younger children.

Benjispruce4 · 22/06/2022 22:09

I only count steps on my phone so as I can’t use it at work, it only really counts my walks. It’s saying I’ve been trending higher for 12 weeks. 😀

Lizsmum · 22/06/2022 22:53

Thank you @TheRealHousewife . Do you remember what weve all written as you read it or do you take notes? Whichever it is - thank you! And thank you for being so supportive to us all. 😀

Gakatsbsk · 23/06/2022 02:54

Seem to have got myself out of the plateau I previously posted about.
11st2lbs at last weigh in, happy with that.
Back on to nights which I have realised seems to cause a plateau. But I’m on leave after tonight so should be fine.

People are really starting to comment on my weight loss especially as I’ve been off nearly 2 weeks. I personally can’t see much difference but clothes are looser and I feel a bit lighter. I certainly don’t look like I’ve lost 2stone 2lbs.

I don’t really like the comments on weight loss / know how to take it as everyone is saying how good I look etc which makes me think how bad did I look before 🤣

Anyway I’ve still another 1-2 stone to go

Benjispruce4 · 23/06/2022 07:25

My WoT as forgot to WoW. Maintained. Have been within 1lb plateau for a month now officially. Though lower in ounces gradually.
But, feel really good, healthy, and not hungry or deprived so I’m hoping the last 2/3 lbs will drop eventually.
SW 10st 4(BMI 24.?)
CW 9st 8.5(BMI 22.6)
GW 9st 6 (BMi 22)

Vic1234567 · 23/06/2022 07:26

ginsparkles I'm so sorry to hear about you lovely dog. 14 is such a good age. It's so so painful having to make these hard decisions for our pet family, I had to do it recently. Just remember we can't do it for eachother but it's the one thing we can do to for our pets x

Gakatsbsk I know what you mean about the 'you look good comment' 😅 just try to embrace it, they're just acknowledging your hard work.

Sounds like everyone is doing well. Even if it's a tiny loss, it's in the right direction. Saying that, even if you have a gain we must acknowledge it and then move onwards x
