☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee . Oh and a 2 am stumble home made me laugh @HouseofHolbein 😁
B-oats with water, yoghurt and berries
L- salad with tuna, apple
D- grilled chicken and veg skewers with cous cous and pita for fam but salad for me.
Good luck runners and rowers!

ImALittlePea · 21/06/2022 17:20

You must be so proud @Benjispruce4!

Good luck for this weekend @HouseofHolbein 🏃‍♀️

I've just made the mistake of checking the forecast for where we're going this weekend and it isn't particularly promising at the moment. It feels like nearly every time we go away we have rubbish weather so I'm feeling a bit narked off about that (which I know is daft, as I can't do anything about it, and it isn't the personal attack it feels like 😅). So everyone do a sun dance and send it my way for the weekend, please!

Today's menu:
Lunch - can you guess? 😆
Dinner - loaded pasta and pesto, shared a single slice of garlic bread with the eldest
Water and tea on repeat!

milkfromthesleepycow · 21/06/2022 18:00

@HouseofHolbein good luck!! You're going to do great!!

@CrimsonAlligator like you say I have a year to train up. I certainly couldn't attempt your rowing challenge- that sounds daunting to me!

HouseofHolbein · 21/06/2022 18:05

@ImALittlePea I'll pray for sunshine for you as long as you aren't coming to north Devon. Personally I'm praying for light drizzle on Sunday nothing too extreme 🤣🤣

HouseofHolbein · 21/06/2022 18:07

@Benjispruce4 I started off classy with a couple of cosmopolitans then jaegerbombs and shots happened along with some stolen vodka so the evening went downhill rather 🤣🤣

Was extremely good tho 👍

ImALittlePea · 21/06/2022 18:18

Haha, no you're safe @HouseofHolbein 😅

Benjispruce4 · 21/06/2022 18:24

Blimey @HouseofHolbein id be on the floor on that! Glad it was worth it.
I need sun sending to Dorset this weekend please. Short break with DH and dog while both DDs away( uni and holiday). We haven’t been away alone since before DM died 7 years ago! What with one at uni and Covid we never wanted to leave you heat DD home alone.Looking forward to coastal dog walks. Send sun!
NSV - I picked up a Next delivery of some wide leg trousers in size 10, a neat real pair and a black pair. Bottom half is a bit pearish so sometimes a 10 is a little snug on the derrièr if the style is fitted. These are more fitted at the top and then flare out and they went glided on. Love 💕 that feeling!

Benjispruce4 · 21/06/2022 18:25
  • youngest DD
  • a neutral pair
ImALittlePea · 21/06/2022 18:33

Can you share a link to those trousers please @Benjispruce4? I love a wide leg!

Here you go, lots of colours.

Benjispruce4 · 21/06/2022 18:50

@ImALittlePea they are better on than the photos. I’m 5ft 5 and they are full length on me but don’t need taking up. They look cropped on the models.

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/06/2022 20:52

CrimsonAlligator · 18/06/2022 14:23

Welcome to the thread @Howmanysleepsnow . How tall are you? Are you at, or close to a healthy weight?

You’re right that exercise doesn’t make that much of a difference, but is there any way in which you can generally improve how active you are? That doesn’t have to feature long gym sessions. It could be short walks, dancing around, playing with the kids etc.

Also, are you getting enough sleep? Stress and a lack of sleep can have a big impact on weightloss.

Thanks! I’m at the very top of healthy bmi/ possibly just overweight. I’m reasonably active (2 dogs so at least an hours walk a day, but slower than it used to be as the older dog has arthritis. Plus I’m a nurse so up and down all day at work, not sure if that counts for much though) just not actual exercise! I’m 5’6” and 11stone. Sleep? No chance! About 5-6 hours a night probably.

fallfallfall · 21/06/2022 21:44

@Howmanysleepsnow , i'm a retired nurse :)
all is well over here, no half anything or training happening BUT i'm doing some hilly walks, and biking most days.
youngest has returned to his home and eldest arrives on friday with his wife, daughter and mother-in-law.
so far so good nice weigh in this am 156.7 and AGAIN hoping to see the elusive 155 soon!!!
i switched up my yogurt to cottage cheese, higher salt but lower calories and more protein.

ofHardey · 21/06/2022 23:01

I'm back after my orginal post too long ago and since it was just the one I'm sure no one has even missed me haha. I'll introduce myself a little more !

I'll start with the good news first ! Well I weighed myself this morning and was SO HAPPY to see the number 6 next to the 140 lbs 🤪 so I'm now 146.6... exactly four pounds away from being my pre third baby weight almost exactly five years ago ! And God have I yoyod between 146-158 for the past few years. It was never this hard with my first two, the weight came off and stayed off! But now I'm 38 I guess I can dream on having it that easy 😂 however in my defence, I have had major major things going on. My mum lost her battle with cancer a mere three weeks before I gave birth to dd3. Even though we knew it was coming, nothing can prepare you for the loss of a loving mother. Nothing.
We then moved house the following year following a major refurb project which lasted 7 months and stressful to say the least (but kept me blissfully busy).

So now my youngest is in school, it's time for me! I joined the gym and got myself a PT back in feb, was with her for three months and learnt an absolutely tonne. I am now in a routine of cardio/weight training on my own and I can feel and see my body getting more toned and stronger. The weight is slowly creeping off because I havnt paid particular attention to my diet, however with a big holiday coming next month, I really want to hone in on diet for the next five weeks or so and get under that original pre baby weight . Under because if I do happen to gain some holiday weight then the extra couple of pounds off can act as a little buffer.

My only issue is hormonal eating. I'm extremely sensitive to hormonal changes and I just get so hungry when I'm pmsing, so any idea of a calorie deficit goes out of the window. I'm wondering if fasting during this time would help ? Is anyone doing fasting? I'm thinking of trying the 16:8.

fallfallfall · 22/06/2022 01:59

@ofHardey , yes i'm currently doing both low calorie and fasting 16:8. now this length of fasting is new (14 hours between supper and breakfast was our norm).
but i have zero hormones and generally zero pressure (no kids at home). but do you have a question? protein and fiber help with satiation along with warm fluids imho.

milkfromthesleepycow · 22/06/2022 06:27

@fallfallfall sounds like your having a good time with family visits. I admire the cycling, I only learned to ride a bike 6 years ago and am still too scared of cars to ride them anywhere! I keep thinking I'll switch to cycling to work but I haven't pushed myself into that one yet!

@ofHardey I fast too but have always hated breakfast so was pretty natural to me. Use an eating window of 12 to8pm.

200g loss on the scales this week 😂 if I keep this up I'll hit target in spring 2024!

TheRealHousewife · 22/06/2022 07:03

Good Morning 😊

My WOW up a bit 😮Bang on it too, so not sure what’s going on 🤷‍♀️ Nonetheless I’ll keep doing what I’m doing 😬

Welcome to the thread and thank you for returning to thread @ofHardey Sounds like you’ve had a tough time as well as being very busy! I calorie count (I’m not very active due to disability) and naturally my eating pattern falls into intermittent fasting as I don’t have much appetite in the am. I generally eat 12:00 - 19:00 each day. Occasionally OMAD. Keep reading and posting, there’s great support to be had from the ladies on here.

@milkfromthesleepycow A loss is a loss, well done 👏👍

@HouseofHolbein Good luck for Sunday number 626 👍👏 🏅 You are very inspiring ❤️

@fallfallfall Sounds like you’ve been very active! Talking of cottage cheese, I’ve recently accidentally discovered fat free cc (picked wrong one up in supermarket) and the missing fat isn’t replaced with sugars etc - low calorie & high protein. Same with 0% Fat Greek yoghurt. Which I will admit to putting a tiny bit of honey on.

@CrimsonAlligator 2hrs rowing in this heat 🥵You ladies are so dedicated! Stay safe and hydrated 💧

@Benjispruce4 Here you go ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ ☀️ Hope you catch it! Wishing you and your dh a fabulous holiday!

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone.

Menu
Meal 1 - Scrambled eggs & baked beans. GF Warburton Thin.
Meal 2 - Mushroom Risotto with Parmesan.
Tea, coffee & water.

Morning!

Yesterday started well, I did banana so I could have the medicines, then a lovely halloumi salad out with my mum.

But we found out our DDog (14) has kidney disease and we have to make the big decision for her.... so I buried my head in a packet of bourbons. Not productive for either decision making or my waistline.

So all in all WOW is a miraculous maintain. It's a new week, albeit a potentially tricky one, going to keep trying each day and hopefully the good ones will start to put weight the crappy ones.

milkfromthesleepycow · 22/06/2022 07:12

@ginsparkles so sorry to hear about your dog Flowers

HouseofHolbein · 22/06/2022 07:14

Just weighed in. Slightly under 9st 7lb and according to happy scale I have lost 0.5lb this week. Pleased with that as hopefully I am getting into good habits with my eating 👍

Planning a Chinese takeaway with friends on Saturday night to carb load for Sunday 🤣🤣 might take several bottles of fizzy water with me to drink rather than getting tempted with alcohol 👍

HouseofHolbein · 22/06/2022 07:14

@ginsparkles so sorry about your dog 💕 thinking of you 💕

SanFranBear · 22/06/2022 07:19

I'm so sorry to hear about your dear dog, Gin.. pets are such an important part of any family and I wish you well in your decision making Flowers. Well done on STS, which is always an achievement.

Best of luck with everyone else's WoW - well done for not getting too disheartened, RealHousewife.. there's always weird weeks in there so hopefully you'll have a whoosh next week! And a loss is a loss, milk!!

My plan for today is to finally get properly back outside - planned a lovely hike across the South Downs, skirting round Winchester and along a couple of rivers which will either be blissful in this heat, or full of midges! Either way, cannot wait. I haven't planned my meals today as need to do my weekly shop and DC with their Dad tonight but will definitely be having eggs for breakfast to set myself up (and have a hotcross bun for post-hike relief!)

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

HouseofHolbein · 22/06/2022 07:55

I'm feeling quite dizzy and lightheaded today which is unlike me so I've just had some weetabix with sugar and full fat milk to see if it perks me up. Work at 12:30 then tomorrow off thank goodness.

Aiming for plenty of water today 👍

ginsparkles · 22/06/2022 08:42

Thank you everyone. We have decided to get some more tests and see how bad things are. She's so happy on herself it feels all sorts of wrong to be having to decide this.

Good luck to everyone for their WOW's and well done to those with losses

ButteryNuts · 22/06/2022 08:46

Morning everyone,

I've stayed the same this week from the last after my boozy and foodie weekend Blush And 2lbs up from Friday!

I have a meal / drinks out event this Friday but other than that I should be able to stick to my diet for the rest of the month and hopefully get into the 11st bracket but that looks unlikely now!

I'm telling myself to do workout videos but find it so hard to get up and actually do them!

1st June:
SW: 13st 2
Waist: 40"
BMI: 30.6

22nd June:
SW: 12st 4 (-12lbs)
Waist: 36" (-4")
BMI: 28.6 (-2)
