Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Big hugs, fallfall - don't get too downhearted... we're all here as we've all felt how you're feeling. I hope you find a routine which clicks and becomes more instinctive - logging massively helps me but I can totally understand how it is really not the way for some. I would find it so hard with a fit, healthy DP - I'm just battling my own willpower. Best of luck Flowers

I've just ordered Papa John's for the DC and am going to have a Papadia for me.. looks like two slices of pizza, folded up and obviously much lower in calories. Made me so sad inside as I bloody love Papa John pizza but cannot justify something which is over 250cals a single slice.. that said, the Papadia is still over 700 calories but I went out for a 10k hike this lunchtime before the DC got back. And actually, with one drama and another (thanks, DD), I have hardly eaten a thing today so takeout will be fine 😬

Hope everyone else is having a lovely, sunny Saturday... I can't wait for my bed so I can rest my weary legs!

@fallfallfall sorry if that came off insulting, I've never looked at any BMRs aside from my own.
I agree while fitness is good, it's the diet that's key. Just wish there was a genuine Star Trek like device you could point at a plate of food you've cooked and it would tell you it's nutritional content!

Hi everyone,
B- oats with berries
L-beetroot with 40g feta and pumpkin seeds, apple
D- gnocchi tray bake with mushrooms, broccoli and cheese. I’ve left a corner with minimal cheese for me !The whole gnocchi packet is 750 cals!! I’ll be having less than half and serving with a green salad
Lovely sunny day, second dog walk later as DH away so it’s all down to me as DD just home from work and has A level revision to do.

@SanFranBear , dh drags me around the block. i'm not keen on doing it but i'm not keen on staying in the 160's either....i go. upon our return home he takes two cookies and loads ice cream in between the two and proceeds to eat them within reach. i could have strangled him and i did wish he would choke on the thing.
@milkfromthesleepycow someone has to come up with that photo app, honestly i need that. or an electronic plate with an app??

Hi! Is it ok if I join this chat? I set up my own chat about dieting and while browsing came across this chat that is clearly really nicely established already.

I've previously done Slimming World on multiple occasions but I'm hoping to lose some weight with the support of this group.

I'm a vegetarian who enjoys lots of veggies but also really enjoys crisps, sweets and chocolates!

SW = start weight
CW= current weight
GW= goal weight is this correct?

If so,
SW = 11st 1lb
GW = 10

I find following similar good habits like I did at Slimming World will hopefully be ok for me, but the main thing is just having a limit of 'treats' each day, rather than eating without any control.

Welcome to the thread @Vic1234567 You might have to give up (or severely moderate) your intake of sweets, crisps & chocolate 😬. Replace with high vegetarian protein sources 👍 Yes really 😬

@TheRealHousewife Nooooo it’s a smallish wine glass and I only had half a glass(that was all DH had left) so it must be the photo closeup!

@fallfallfall i calorie count but not religiously. The first few weeks I found out the cals of lots of the foods I eat from the packets and Google and I put them in my ‘notes’ in my iPhone. I don’t limit fruit and vegetables unless banana, sweet potatoes , sweetcorn etc.
I look at cals on packets and weigh portions when I start out so I’ve got a clear idea. That part can be shocking!

@Benjispruce4 , i did it religiously 8+ years ago for a period of 2 years, day in day out not missing a meal. but the weight has crept back. it does keep a person honest.
lunch 144 calories; hummus and veggies.
this leaves me with 444 for supper, based on the macronutrients i'm needing to focus on protein.
chicken breasts (boneless skinless)now thawing and can do those up on the bbq

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling down about your weight @fallfallfall . If you were in the UK, I’d recommend the NutraCheck app, but I’m not sure that that has an extensive database of foods that are available in American supermarkets.

Btw, have you calculated your TDEE as well as your BMR? I think TDEE is supposed to give a more accurate idea of what you need to maintain. Eating less than a 1000 calories (if I understood that correctly?) does sound very low. Getting all your nutrients in with that amount of calories must be difficult?

Welcome to the thread @Vic1234567 👋 I’m a fellow vegetarian with a love of chocolate! It’s not stood in the way of me losing lots of weight, but I’ve obviously had to restrict how much chocolate I eat a little. It gets easier pretty quickly. And yes, you got those abbreviations right 🥳 Another popular abbreviation is NSV, which means a “non scale victory”. Fingers crossed you’ll have some of those too.

I hope you enjoyed your takeaway @SanFranBear . It’s amazing how many calories can be crammed into a pizza. Well done on resisting that.

from what i can tell my daily allowance is 1258 which is reasonable (or so i think, remember i'm well post menopause ;) )

Morning. I think I’ve got worse following Covid. I tested negative on Sunday and Monday.Since going back to work my cough has continued. It’s only a slight tickle but has become phlegmy. Then I had a super sore throat for a day and now my chest hurts when I cough and my nose is totally congested.It gets better during the daytime. Anyone else have this afterwards?

@Benjispruce4 I didn't feel unwell with covid just very very tired and a bit snotty. But about 2 weeks afterwards got a sore throat that lasted for weeks. I assumed I'd just picked up another bug- any chance that's what's happening or is it an extension of your original symptoms?

I did wonder that @milkfromthesleepycow but went to work on Monday with some mild symptoms left but they’ve got steadily worse. During the 9 days positive my main symptoms were headache and sneezing/sniffing. A colleague had a similar path. My booster was in October so maybe I’ve lost some protection.

@Benjispruce4 does sound like you've got lingering symptoms. Just for the congestion - nasal spray could be helpful? Do you normally get hay fever? If so antihistamine
I know I always feel tons better if I can breathe out my nose! Everything else seems manageable then

Thanks @milkfromthesleepycow yes I’ve got a saline nasal spray and that was a life saver in the night along with Vick. Sipping tea now and that always helps. Thank you 🙏🏻
The sun is out so a day of rest and maybe a potter in the garden. Did lots of chores and shopping yesterday so at least my energy is ok. No idea what’s on the menu yet but made some hummus yesterday and I think I prefer it to the shop bought one. So, that will figure at some point.Happy ☀️ day everyone.

Meal 1 - Roast Chicken Dinner - carrots, broccoli, green beans, cavello nero, cauliflower, peas & onion gravy. A pudding of some sort. Could be OMAD.
Meal 2 - If needed, sharing platter of crudités, dip, cold meats, cheese.
Tea, Coffee, Water.

Oh dear- kids wanted pancakes for breakfast and I had one as I thought 'why not it's Sunday'!
Just worked out the calories from recipe and it was 500 calories!!
Bugger- only 700 calories left for the day!
Soup and salad here I think
