☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Morning everyone! Weighed in at about the same as last Wednesday. Seem to be hovering around the same few lbs at the moment. Really trying to make an effort with the water at the moment tho as I’ve let that slip and it definitely makes a difference.

running club tonight 👍

Chatterbox89 · 08/06/2022 07:57

Morning all, weighing in today at 9st 9 so 2lb down from last week which I’m pleased about. Had quite a lot to eat over the weekend and a few drinks so back to tracking properly this week. Thanks for all the support, it does help to check messages and I’ll try and update my progress a bit more this week.

todays meal plan is:

lunch: home made butternut squash soup and toast
snack: apple and a cereal bar
dinner: chicken kebabs with roasted vegetables and a Greek salad with avocado and croutons added

have a good day everyone!

CrimsonAlligator · 08/06/2022 07:58

Morning everyone! Some great losses already 😀

73.5 kg on the scales for me this morning, which is a loss of 0.7 kg. It’s as if the long Bank Holiday weekend never happened!

Happy anniversary @Benjispruce4 !

ImALittlePea · 08/06/2022 08:51

Well done WOWers! Some great losses today.

Happy anniversary @Benjispruce4 🥂

That's an amazing first week @ButteryNuts! That's 14.5 blocks of butter 🥳

I'm hoping I don't let the side down when I hop on the scales on Friday! 🤦‍♀️

Wizzwazzwas · 08/06/2022 09:35

Morning everyone!

Well done on all the losses and lots of encouragement to everyone who needs it Flowers

Good news again for me today, another 0.7kg loss. There really is no rhyme or reason to the scales. Not long now til I'm no longer obese.

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 80.3kg

TheRealHousewife · 08/06/2022 09:50

Good Morning 😊

WOW - Up 1lb 🤷‍♀️ Not fussed as I know why 🥂🎉🥪🍧🧈Started my reset Monday so I’m sure it will be gone by this time next week👍

@ImALittlePea dentist injections are the worst! Fingers crossed it doesn’t hurt too much.

Some great losers this week! Well done to @milkfromthesleepycow @SingaporeSlinky @ButteryNuts @Wizzwazzwas @CrimsonAlligator @Chatterbox89 @Benjispruce4 (And happy anniversary 🎊)👍👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Massive Salad, boiled eggs, butter beans, own dressing. Pecans.
Meal 2 - Spaghetti Bolognaise home made with more veg than mince.

Tea, Coffee, Water.

You ladies have had a fantastic week weight loss wise. Now let’s all rinse & repeat 😬

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 08/06/2022 13:27

It was my DH, not me @TheRealHousewife and he didn't need an injection in the end. He still tried to me about what they did in far too much detail, although it makes me cringe so much I had to tell him to stop 😂

Lunch today was cup-a-soup and veggies (again). New flavour though!
Dinner - not sure. This is potentially the path to weight loss disaster!

giatta · 08/06/2022 13:55

Well done to all WoWers.
SW: 81.9 kg
CW: 81.0 kg
Very pleased with the first wheigh in.

Graphista · 08/06/2022 15:45

Can someone please gimme a time stamp for my last post on thread? Cannot find ANY of my posts either on app or the site - flaming update!

Then I can catch up with you all properly

Wow - 13 stone 3 which is only 0.25lbs off but a loss is a loss and considering the last week has inc a heavy night, lots of eating and drinking out and umpteen cough sweets I'm taking that as a bloody win! Grin

Catch up properly after time stamp ok?

TheRealHousewife · 08/06/2022 16:05

Hi @Graphista 02.06.22 @12:11 is the first one I could find. However I was distracted as I noticed one of @ImALittlePea posts was deleted due to ‘Troll hunting’ which as far as I know isn’t true. There are some posts that could do with deleting as they were written by random posters being argumentative and wanting a scrap!

@giatta Well done? Keep going 😬👍

Great to read he didn’t need an injection @ImALittlePea 👍 I’m like you and I really don’t like going!

Right I’m off to do greenhousing 😬 🪴

OP posts:
TheRealHousewife · 08/06/2022 16:06

I meant to say well done on your loss @Graphista … every bit helps and it’s better than the scale going the other way 😬

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 08/06/2022 17:11

Omg! My post was deleted?! Haha! I did say that I felt the thread had been t r o l l e d but as far as I remember didn't tag anyone or say anything further.

I feel like MN has naughty stepped me 🤭

Graphista · 08/06/2022 17:14

@TheRealHousewife thanks. I couldn't find any! And yes random deleted posts very odd

Graphista · 08/06/2022 17:54

@RiversBlue way out of order and unkind!

Graphista · 08/06/2022 17:54

@RiversBlue way out of order and unkind!

Lizsmum · 08/06/2022 18:21

Please may I join in? I've been following the thread for a while and see you all as role models!

My current weight - 13 stone 5 lbs

This is waaaay over what I should be at 5 ft 2 inches but is a great deal less than it was at the end of March which was 15 stone. I'm not setting a goal weight as that is just too scary but short term Id like to be 13 stone by the 9th July when I go away for a short training course.

I'm using MFP and trying to reduce carbs as I'm pre-diabetic. So far so good, but I think the additional support and accountability of t hes thread will be very helpful.

Graphista · 08/06/2022 18:25

Was my last post nearly a week ago?! We shall see I thought it wasn’t that far back

@CrimsonAlligator I did not do so well avoiding treats - need to watch that! I love seeing wild horses because as a veggie i think that’s how they should be! Just out in nature.

@benjispruce it’s usually my mum reminds me of that fact! “No medals for being a martyr”

I’m now lurgified myself but not Covid I don’t think. How on earth do you get tests now? I can’t find an answer to that. I’m eating EVERYTHING at the moment but that’s normal for me then when the lurgy properly hits I’ve no appetite so it balances out.

@milkfromthesleepycow I need to organise myself next time weathers nice to get to a beach. Apparently back in autumn here today!

@imalittlepea and @lightningstar - plan the puddings/treats -as much as possible (I know I don’t always follow my own advice)

I’m a low fat dairy person but that’s purely on a taste basis I’ve never liked full fat since I was a skinny kid! I have activia yogurt these days primarily for the gut health aspect

Graphista · 08/06/2022 18:26

I agree about anxious thoughts being exhausting and then put long term health issues on top it can be quite overwhelming at times.

Absolutely!

Mh + disability + lurgy = stuffed!

Does anyone have any nice salad combos/recipes to inspire me?

I like mine chunky and crunchy - more satisfying then. Salad leaves (don’t always bother with these) diced cucumber, halved cherry tomatoes, diced sweet pepper, mushrooms, maybe a little sweetcorn, diced raw carrot, some garlic grinder and a fat free dressing - my preferences are vinaigrette, lemon and pepper, honey mustard.

Sometimes add in fresh basil or coriander, a little grated lower fat cheddar or some cottage cheese mixed in (might be a bit odd to most but I like it)

@pennysays - re grapes when the summer properly kicks in try freezing and having instead of ice lollies they’re like bite sized wee sorbets! Delicious! Also nice in drinks instead of ice cubes

@benjispruce x post how long was it until you tested negative?

@lala1245 welcome While you haven’t loads to lose you’re absolutely right to tackle it early on wish I had

Graphista · 08/06/2022 18:27

@ofhardey welcome but I've been thinking that for the past five years since dd was born hey mines 21 and I still try and call it baby weight 🤣🤣

@houseofholbein you’re brave walking running that! I could barely crawl it!

@lizsmum welcome

@therealhouswife i certainly think you’ve done and are doing an amazing job

Ladies DO NOT let one plopper make you think we’re doing anything wrong!

Sorry for the wobble.
No need for apology imo

I too have posted about Mh, Csa etc and I don’t think a separate thread was necessary because it was in relation to my weight loss journey as such issues are for many! Nobody is forced to read or post on the thread, it’s for you to decide if it’s the right thread for you.

Personally having spent my whole life having to put a polite face on everything it’s a relief and very supportive to discuss how these things impact weight gain and loss.

@wizzwazzwas I also use happy scale for motivation and another app that isn’t for everyone but I like it “my model” that lets you create an avatar image of yourself (is avatar image a tautology?) how you are now and how you’ll look once the weight is off, I sometimes have a play with it and compare start of month with end of month

Nsv im starting to develop a waist!

milkfromthesleepycow · 08/06/2022 18:47

Wow some excellent results all round!

@TheRealHousewife very minimal gain, bet it comes off quickly. Probably water from increased carbs over jubilee

@Lizsmum that's great progress already! And a very sensible, achievable goal

TheRealHousewife · 08/06/2022 19:47

I agree @milkfromthesleepycow it'll come off soon enough 🤞

@Graphista that made me laugh 😆 baby weight 😆And thank you 🙏

@Lizsmum Welcome aboard. You’ve made fabulous progress so far! 👍👏

@ImALittlePea Its been a crazy week posts/posters wise. Seems we have calm waters again 😬 BTW you can get down off the naughty step you little minx 😆(not that you wrote anything naughty!)

Enjoy your evenings ❤️

Yep said "baby" now over 6' tall! GrinGrinGrin

Echobelly · 08/06/2022 20:42

Welcome @Lizsmum

First day of new job - they took me to lunch and I'm finding this 'calories on menu' thing quite handy (though I appreciate it's a nightmare for some) and was able to find a fish stew that just fitted in my day.

New manager seems lovely, I think we'll get on - we're basically a team of two. I only need to be in a day a week, but I'll probably try and make it 2 for my first few weeks or when there's something on. It was nice to be back in a buzzing office - my last place everyone had pretty much given up on it and although I went in for a change of scene there was barely anyone there and it was kind of depressing.

Very tired now, as I guess it took a lot out of me going in and also I've not slept brilliantly this last week and a half - although we were off work and kids off school I woke up early every day and had taken a while to get to sleep. I wondered if it was something to do with the weirdness of being in between jobs!

Benjispruce4 · 08/06/2022 21:17

Hey everyone, thanks for Annie wishes-26years!😱So we went to our fave place- Wagamama and I don’t think I went too mad. Had one half of Asahi lager and a Diet Coke, chilli squid which I could happily live on for life, followed by miso cod ramen but DH had to finish the noodles as I got full! I didn’t go by cals but I think the ramen was 6-700 and conveniently forgot to check the deep fried squid. Whatever it was, it was definite worth it!
I tested negative on day 9 @Graphista . I had a few tests left from work( school) but saw some in Boots yesterday. Hope you feel better soon.
