☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@milkfromthesleepycow I love the mapping idea! Is it just a line on paper or is it plotted against an actual real map? How do you go about doing that?

Echobelly · 07/06/2022 09:24

Hello again! Weighed myself for first time in a fortnight after going 'off piste' for holiday last week and... actually slightly under my last weight. Good to know that I can give the recording etc a break and not undo all the good work - I was being a bit careful with booze and sweets compared to normal holiday last week and sticking to lo-cal breakfast, but did have restaurant meal, takeaway etc.

I'm basically at my Noom target weight now, 9 stone, but as I realised I weighed less than I thought when I first put my data in, I'm going to keep going and see if I can knock another half stone off, no need to go any further than that, but if I can get to a baseline where I can stay under 9 stone more easily, then all the better.

ImALittlePea · 07/06/2022 09:24

I've been hesitant to go clothes shopping for months @CrimsonAlligator, always thinking that if I wait another month then I'll have lost more etc. But I'm so pleased I've been now, got some lovely summery bits and it's given me a nice confidence boost where I've been able to size down! My issue now is jeans, I normally live in them, size 10s generally are still a bit too snug but size 12s are on the too baggy side. Just going to hot wash my existing pairs in the hope they shrink a little to tide me over for summer!

That did make me laugh @TheRealHousewife I spent years as a data analyst and do have a soft spot for a nice excel sheet and a graph. I might have a look at that app too.

@milkfromthesleepycow definitely important to have a happy week! I'm the same this week, dreading my weigh in, but we had a really lovely half term/extended weekend, and I'm back on it now. Life is for living, after all.

Right - I really should get on with some work!

ImALittlePea · 07/06/2022 09:26

Well done @Echobelly that must be a lovely boost!

Forgot to say @TheRealHousewife - I'm not quite at my #petitpois point yet, but I hope it won't be long!

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/06/2022 10:27

@ButteryNuts I printed off a map of my area, laminated it (bloody love my laminator!) and then googled the number of miles (pounds) from my house to pick an end point. From there you can use any journey planner to mark off the distance

CrimsonAlligator · 07/06/2022 12:20

@Wizzwazzwas I’ve lost a lot of weight this last year (27 kg). For me, the key was to not allow myself to think about the “end goal” too much, I’m still not clear exactly what that is, or whether I have in fact already reached it!

I think that, in general, people are almost programmed to focus on where they want to be. As a result we end up feeling bad about ourselves and like we’re not getting there fast enough. That’s why I made a conscious effort to keep looking back at where I started and all the progress I’ve made since.

Do you have any photos of yourself at your higher weight? If you don’t, I recommend taking a picture of yourself now and then repeating that every month or two. Every time you feel like you still have such a long way to go, have a look at those pictures and remind yourself of where you started. I can almost guarantee that that will motivate you more than the numbers on the scale ever will! 😊

I love that idea about plotting things on a map @milkfromthesleepycow . Visual reminders of the progress you’ve made are so motivational.

Wizzwazzwas · 07/06/2022 13:06

Thanks v much everyone. Some really great ideas!

I love the mapping idea @milkfromthesleepycow

I tend to do a lot of comparing myself to where I was at a previous time point, and MyFitnessPal means I easily can. In general I'm a bit of an all or nothing person, so the risk for me is that I feel defeated, give up, eat whatever I like and put it all back on. It's happened before and nearly always a serious stress trigger.

I think I originally had a big goal weight in mind for Aug bank hol and not going to get there as loss rate a bit slower and didn't account for the odd static week. But of course I am progressing. Equivalent of 42 packs of butter so far and over 78k calories not eaten Shock

I don't take many photos of myself as think I look awful Blush especially fat arms in summer clothes.

Well done @Echobelly that's brilliant! Smile

Here's my brunch for today

@CrimsonAlligator hope hats such an impressive loss well done! I shall look forward to being able to say similar one day

Also brilliant news on the noom goal @ImALittlePea

Wizzwazzwas · 07/06/2022 13:11

That should say "wow that's" Blush

Or even jeans @ImALittlePea and noom @Echobelly (bear with me, just learning quoting and tagging, sigh)

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/06/2022 13:32

@Wizzwazzwas 42 packs of butter is great! And a good way to visualise it

I can't take credit for the mapping idea- that was someone else's stroke of absolute genius!

TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2022 14:36

Oh my goodness @Wizzwazzwas that looks absolutely delicious 😋

@CrimsonAlligator youve done brilliantly 👍👏🥇

On another note we’ve got a little family of fledgling sparrows learning to fly in our back yard. They are so cute 🥰

I love all the fledglings at this time of the year @TheRealHousewife.We have two little robins doing the rounds. I’m sure it won’t be long until their territorial instincts take over, but at the moment they’re doing literally everything together and look adorable while doing so! 🥰

Packs of butter is a great way to visualise your loss @Wizzwazzwas . 42 is loads! 🧈

Benjispruce4 · 07/06/2022 16:45

Wow to 42 packs of butter. I always visualise a lb of mince when I drop a lb! 😃
Baked salmon tonight with steamed broccoli and a small baked potato with a little hummus.

fallfallfall · 07/06/2022 17:07

my nokia scale is currently coordinated with my iphone health app. and i have my weight (almost daily) plotted since 2015. but i'm getting messages and prompts that suggest this is being phased out, no longer free??
wild life :)
i have hummingbirds coming to feed every minute from daybreak to past sunset.
i took a lovely video for the grand kids but i can't upload it to mn sadly and the little critters are currently not cooperating with my photo attempts.
i had a dreadful day and ate a seriously embarrassing amount of cookies, so so stupid really just sat with tea and one cookie after another while on the internet.
today is a new day.
breakfast a healthy low cal oatmeal, under 250.

fallfallfall · 07/06/2022 17:10

cauliflower. if i was to NOT do the second application of EVO and if i was NOT to apply any sort of sauce would this be low cal enough (shared with 4 people)
along side chicken skewers (chicken, tomato, onion, pepper. kabob thing on the bbq).

my first thought was plain steamed riced cauliflower.

This looks so nice... provided it was smothered in cheese ConfusedGrinBlush

ImALittlePea · 07/06/2022 19:52

My meals have been topsy turvy today as DH has a dentist appt just after lunch and wasn't sure if he'd need an injection or not shudders

L - sausage, sweet potato, pepper and red onion tray bake (SO simple and tasty)
D - cup-a-soup & veggies followed by greek yogurt (full fat 😜😂) and pomegranate

And I'm full from that!

SanFranBear · 07/06/2022 20:54

As I weigh in kilos, I visualise bags of sugar for each one I lose - definitely helps as I can't even envisage carrying 24 bags of sugar from the shop and yet I was carrying that around on my body everyday!

Loving the wildlife.. I'm very urban so don't see much but hoping for some pretty birds tomorrow as the hike takes us through a bird sanctuary. Love the thought of little robin buddies and the super thirsty hummingbird... your sparrows are adorable and fluffy too, RealHousewife! Ah, nature ❤

milkfromthesleepycow · 08/06/2022 06:46

WOW

SW 14st4
CW 11st5

I've lost 1.5lb last week. Quite shocked- my diet definitely wasn't deserving of that, although I didn't go totally mad. I think maybe I was quite active so managed to offset it a bit?

Want to get back onto the better eating plan again anyway. Main aim now is for more veg this week!

Good luck to any other WOWers

Benjispruce4 · 08/06/2022 07:17

Oh well done @milkfromthesleepycow . A WOW here too of a lb (of mince) which I’m glad to see after over 2 weeks of no shift! Good luck Wednesday weighers!
B-30g oats /porridge made with water, berry compote and stewed apple
L- tin of spicy mackerel with salad, apple
D-Wagamama as it’s our anniversary today!

SanFranBear · 08/06/2022 07:19

Good luck WoW'ers... some good results already!

And happy anniversary, Benji!

SingaporeSlinky · 08/06/2022 07:33

Morning all.

9st 2 today, which I’m surprised by, as I was up to 9st 5 on Monday. Might be a little dehydrated as had a busy day yesterday, but a nice surprise in any case.

Have a good day everyone.

ButteryNuts · 08/06/2022 07:42
