☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD 2 ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

I meant your facts about @Benjispruce4 being the only one to call out the random poster. @CrimsonAlligator did too.

You seem to be enjoying the drama here a little too much.

Wizzwazzwas · 06/06/2022 22:38

Not entirely sure what I've walked into here as I generally skim over any posts that are not about weigh ins, food, weight loss and exercise, as that is the chat I'm here for. Only been on the threads since about April.

Happy for others to chat about teens, MH etc, though I suspect this isn't really the right forum and there are more specific topics for those.

I don't post too much as don't have time to be here daily, but it's so nice to be made to feel welcome.

I'm happy as yesterday was down to 81kg, which is 0.5kg loss for June so far.

Having v uncomfy tummy today, so eaten a bit more and a bit more carbs than usual. Onwards to tomorrow!

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 81kg

Peace and love

Well done @Wizzwazzwas that’s a good loss, especially over a bank holiday weekend!

Wizzwazzwas · 06/06/2022 23:18

ImALittlePea · 06/06/2022 17:10

Bit random I know, but... What are people's thoughts on full fat vs low fat yoghurt? Specifically, greek yogurt?

Full fat for me, always. Some vitamins are fat soluble. I also find full fat more filling.

SanFranBear · 06/06/2022 23:51

It feels far more awkward to post on here at the moment than it ever did before... Im worried I'll post the wrong thing as I know I'm prone to waffling but am sure it'll settle down.

Back on the health kick today which felt surprisingly good - just hoping to mitigate some of the Jubilee damage. I wish there weren't scones still lurking as I struggle to say no! Luckily, DD adores them so might finish them off before I have too many.

I tend to go low-fat but always greek style - I don't like runny yoghurts particularly. I also tend to have flavoured ones too as I find plain a little sour but still add in some berries. The strawberries & raspberries are so delicious at this time of year - I could eat them at every meal!

MrsT777 · 06/06/2022 22:25

My facts are straight @SingaporeSlinky you were the most vocal!

Hi @MrsT777 why are you so determined to upset and derail the thread? Your posts are antagonist and not necessary. For such a confident poster why haven’t you previously positively contributed to the thread?

OP posts:
TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2022 04:59

@SanFranBear please don’t stop posting. In all the years this thread has run there has been nothing like what I’ve seen in the last couple of days.

I agree it does feel awkward and I feel I have contributed to that feeling too which I’m sorry about.

Your posts are very much welcomed and appreciated!

OP posts:
TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2022 05:06

Hi @Wizzwazzwas sorry about the derailment! Well done on your loss 👍👏

@SingaporeSlinky im so sorry that you’re getting a hard time! You are a much valued member whose always posted supportive posts, might not be daily but nonetheless appreciated! I’m beginning to have my suspicions about some posts I’ve seen and I really don’t understand why a random poster would get involved and deliberately keep stirring the pot when they haven’t previously posted🤔

OP posts:
SingaporeSlinky · 07/06/2022 07:04

Thank you @TheRealHousewife yes I’m wondering the same.
Let’s move on anyway.

HouseofHolbein · 07/06/2022 07:26

Morning everyone! Let's try to get back on track in so many ways 😊

Went for a run last night with group which was lovely 💕 trying to drink more water because I have really got out of the habit.

Weight is up and down but still within a couple of lbs of my goal. This but is going to be hard 🤣🤣

I'm at work today at 12:30 so need to work out what I can take to eat. Main objection with this shift is it fucks my food up.

Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Benjispruce4 · 07/06/2022 07:36

Morning all! The sun is here today which is an improvement on yesterday’s grey skies and chilly temperatures for June. Always makes me want to compensate with food but I resisted, just.

B- boiled egg, toast with a scrape of Philly(low fat).
L-I’ve made a beetroot and feta salad with pumpkin seeds, apple
Have a good day all x

ImALittlePea · 07/06/2022 07:47

That salad sounds lovely @Benjispruce4 - enjoy!

HouseofHolbein · 07/06/2022 07:48

This is my happy scale graph for the last month. Up and down 🤣🤣 but not major fluctuations really.

I like using it... only the free version tho. Don't think the paid one is worth it for what I want. Can recommend 👍

SanFranBear · 07/06/2022 07:49

You're lovely, RealHousewife - and youre both right, Holbein & Pea... onwards and downwards! Line drawn ✏

I'm in the office today so will have a couple of soft-boiled eggs (my favourite!!) once I've packed DS off to school which will hopefully see me through the morning.

Have got the leftover Chinese from Sunday to have for dinner tonight - just plain chow mein left which will be a real treat although will probably add some chicken to increase the protein and brocolli (and so I can kid myself they're healthy really!!) Need to do a proper shop to stock up on better choices but that'll be tomorrow.

Also got a lovely hike planned for tomorrow - either a New Forest coastal one if my friend joins me (as she really doesn't do hills) or a longer one, touching on the South Downs as I'm rather partial to a more challenging route. Will be good to get back out there - surprised myself with how much I've missed it!

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/06/2022 08:01

Excellent NSV @ImALittlePea!
Good loss @Wizzwazzwas
@TheRealHousewife I think you've posted very eloquently and any awkwardness is nothing to do with you!
@SingaporeSlinky @CrimsonAlligator also gave very fair and well balanced responses
(Last thing I'll say about it now I'm on this side of the line)

Managed my run and some weights last night. Dinner was grilled chicken and salad in pita

Last day before the kids go back to school tomorrow so planning a house overhaul and maybe bowling tonight. I think that counts as exercise!

Not looking forward to weighing tomorrow but I'm within half a stone of being in the healthy bmi range. And I had a great week off last week and that's important too

SanFranBear · 07/06/2022 08:07

That graph looks all good, Holbein - nice and green! What app is that? I only use MHP which is a simple line chart, no fancy colours or funky lines...

CrimsonAlligator · 07/06/2022 08:08

---- <<<< LINE DRAWN HERE TOO

So what does the Happy Scale app do @HouseofHolbein ? If the blue line is your weight, then what is the green bit?

Fitting into trousers/jeans that you thought were too small is always a great result @ImALittlePea . I keep wanting to buy myself some new clothes, but then I don’t because I convince myself that I should wait and see if my weight shifts some more. I can’t keep doing this though. I need some things to wear! 😄

@SanFranBear it’s fab that you’ve really caught the hiking bug and are enjoying it so much. I’ve been out loads at the Platinum Jubilee weekend and even though I’ve been roaming the hills around my town for almost a decade, I still love every minute of it. Enjoy your walk tomorrow.

HouseofHolbein · 07/06/2022 08:15

@SanFranBear this explains it 😊 the app is called Happy Scale and it shows weight trends. You can set your goal weight and it then breaks it down into smaller targets which is nice and motivating 😊

As I say I only use the free version as I don't think the paid version is worth it for me 😊

TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2022 08:36

Good Morning 😊

What a refreshing change the posts are today ❤️ Thank you ladies 🙏

You’re welcome @SingaporeSlinky 👍

@ImALittlePea Size 10! That must have been a lovely surprise to find the trousers fit! Clothes fitting are the best NSV! #ImAPetitPois 👏

@HouseofHolbein I love a good graph rubs thighs 😬I’m another one who like Happy Scale. I set my mini goals at increments of a lb so I regularly get fireworks when I meet my targets 🤭

@SanFranBear Id almost forgotten that I have visited the New Forest and it’s absolutely stunning. A few years ago we used to stay pre- cruise at the Chewton Glen Hotel. They used to do a package where you could stay a couple of nights, park your car up for the duration of the cruise and they chauffeured you to and from the port. Very nice it was too. Enjoy your walk!

@milkfromthesleepycow Thank you, that’s kind of you 🙏 You are right about the importance of having had a great week! Any gain will soon go but your memories are for life 😊

Menu
Meal 1 - Salmon salad with home made dressing.
Meal 2 - Cod fillet naked, new potatoes, peas, carrots and a dressing.
Tea, coffee water

Enjoy your day!

HouseofHolbein · 07/06/2022 08:48

@TheRealHousewife you make me laugh 😂 I do the rub thigh thing far too often 🤣🤣

Anyway this month I am doing the north Devon AONB half marathon. I say doing rather than running because I have a plan 🤣🤣 me and my running buddy reckon we can walk it within the cut off time so we are going to run the flat bits and walk the scary bits and we'll be splendid. I will be posting photos because it is an amazing place to be 👍

If you could please remind me I have a sensible plan if I start panicking closer to the date would really appreciate it 🤣🤣

Wizzwazzwas · 07/06/2022 08:49

Morning everyone!

Lovely graphs (I love a graph!)

Feeling bizarrely despondent this morning about the weight loss. Just feels such a big mountain to climb -still around 14kg until not overweight. Does anyone else get this? How do you cope with it? It's not rational and bears no relation to recent loss or progress. Might be hormonal I guess as should be ovulating around now.

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/06/2022 09:01

@Wizzwazzwas I find I oscillate wildly between feeling really happy I've lost what I have and despondent that I still have so far to go

Two things help

  • I have drawn out a bar chart of how long it will take me to get to my goal weight if I lose half a pound a week. I update it once a month and it lets me see how much time I've knocked off. I include goals like getting out of obese bmi, being lighter than DH etc. it lives on my fridge (but high up where the kids don't normally look!)
  • stole a mapping idea from another thread. Essentially you plot out your planned weight loss as miles and then mark it along the way. I'm into the next county and it makes me smile when I look at it!
TheRealHousewife · 07/06/2022 09:09

I came to thread to reply @Wizzwazzwas but see @milkfromthesleepycow has some excellent ideas! I second everything milk said.

Despondency with weight loss is something we all have felt at some time or other, especially if you feel you’re doing everything right and the results are slow. Imagine this time next year if you keep going 😊
