Shredding for the wedding

I'm getting married in July. Had a baby in October and am struggling to shift the lbs. I need to lose a decent amount of weight for my dress to fit! Starting this thread as motivation. Not looking for big long explanations and discussion, more of a daily accountability check in or motivation boost- anyone want to join me? :-)

Thanks guys for keeping me accountable and offering support - Mat leave can be a bit isolating when partner is pulling shifts. MIL messaging today saying she is having nightmares and ‘waking up sweating’ that she is not sat next to her first choice son for the reception but thankfully DP is fielding this one. And baby is finally sleeping through - hurrah! I feel like the whole diet would have been easier before the baby haha

@Ancientbride yes please tell us more about the outfit! I agree 1000kcal is a bit low - maybe add an extra 200cal of fibre/protein type stuff to help you feel fuller and give you energy??

TheOriginalClownfish · 19/05/2022 15:29

Choppies, my own mother caused me unreal stress with all sorts of stupid shit like that in the run up to my wedding. And because we postponed twice, I had years more of it than I would have otherwise had. The vast majority of her drama had little to do with the actual wedding.

It all came to a head at one point where she was setting me up to take the blame for something that was backfiring on her badly and I called her on it. Thankfully the one person she listens to in the family had a strong word with her and told her to pipe down. She did, and I can enjoy the process now. While it's easy for people to tell you not to take any notice, it's pretty impossible not to let it drag you down, unless you've got someone they listen to have a strong word.

I've tipped the scales last night, the heaviest I've ever been in my life. And I get married in 9 weeks. Fucks sake. I was 1.5 stone lighter when I got engaged, and that was only a year after having the baby. If I can lose about an inch off my arse, my dress will hang better so that's what I'm aiming for at the moment.
So today so far I went on a short run at lunch time, have drank herbal tea and water (1l so far) and done 35 squats when on loo breaks - hope to bump that up to 50 by the time it's time to go home. I've classes tonight so I won't be at home tempted to graze. Dinner will be a small curry portion. I've got to get serious about this.

failinghard · 19/05/2022 18:20

What a bloody nightmare @TheOriginalClownfish - I have quite a weird relationship with my ice queen Mother but she's being oddly nice to at the moment. So hopefully she'll be alright. No idea what I am going to say to my dad when i see him for first time in 5 years. All I hope is that everyone has a nice time and no one tries to get deep with me.

Come on then, what's everyone wearing?
This is my dress (which I doesn't fit lol) www.needleandthread.com/products/genevieve-ruffle-gown-champagne

And I am thinking of an outfit change into this later in the night www.rosabloom.com/products/aphrodite-sequin-jumpsuit-hologram-silver-1 (I will look ridic but fuck it)

So weigh in tomorrow ladies! Let's do this!

I think i am going to have a bad week, not done as much exercise as had to make daughter to hospital (she has a genetic issue) and had to go to dentist which is 3 hour round drive because I can't find one close to me. I haven't cheated much on food but haven't made much effort and just been grabbing bits here there and everywhere.

I am also feeling bloated like period is on it's way. I just checked my natural cycles app and says I am going to be on the blob during wedding... kind of good and bad, as hopefully will be less bloated, or it could be late and I will be super bloated.

I am off to see a seamstress tomorrow, pray to god she can suggest a solution. I need a miracle.

@thismotherhoodthing how did the fitting go? Thankfully we're walking down aisle together so will feel less intimidated. Have you tried the stims brand you mentioned? That looked really good. I guess nude coloured undies would be the best option.

@Choppies defo losing weight a lot easier without baby!! I feel guilty for doing exercise instead of taking her to a baby group, it's bloody hard to find a balance. I can't wait till it's all over so I can focus on her.

Choppies · 19/05/2022 19:26

@failinghard the dress is lovely but I am OBSESSED with the jumpsuit - may have to purchase it myself…….

my MIL has been messaging about how she ‘is waking up sweating after having nightmares about the seating plan’

my Dress is a bargain ex-display in a nice textured fabric but I’m having the bow swapped for a belt with some bling and wearing nice blinged out blue shoes. I’m not in love with the actual dress but wanted something I can walk in and it was £325….. and It is super flattering for my shape tbf! Endo gives me a tummy no matter how much I weigh so this shows off waist and legs!

weigh in tomorrow!

@TheOriginalClownfish You can do this! It’s not about getting to proposal size it’s about feeling better in yourself and a couple of inches is very doable!

Oh my goodness these MILs and their nightmares need to stop! Don't they know it's not about them! Grrr.

@failinghard I LOVE your dress. I was looking at a similar one to replace mine when I thought it wouldn't fit. It's lovely! Also the jumpsuit is gorgeous! A friend of mine wore that jumpsuit recently and it looked amazing - a real showstopper. You should definitely go for it! Hope your daughter is ok. Also the period bloat may add a few lbs so don't be disheartened if it does they'll drop off! I'm due on on my wedding day as well - joy!

@Choppies love your dress too! Think you'll look fab in that and it looks super comfortable as well? I've got blue shoes too

www.jlmcouture.com/tara-keely-lazaro/bridal/fall/2019/style-2955

This is my dress, although looks very different on me! Haha

@TheOriginalClownfish you can do this! Do you want to join us?

Weigh in this morning I'm down to 134.8 from 136 last week. Not sure how as I've not really tracked cals but have been on the go a lot!

@thismotherhoodthing well done! Great weigh in and lovely dress!

yeah my dress is super comfy and no shapewear required etc which is one of my main criteria tbh!

my Friday weigh in is 0.2kg down only but only really need to maintain now the dress fits! Off for a long walk today then need to get toning my arms!

thismotherhoodthing · 20/05/2022 09:49

@Choppies toning is gonna be my focus now too! Enjoy your walk!

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 20/05/2022 09:50

@Choppies also well done on another loss!

OP posts:
failinghard · 20/05/2022 13:51

I feel MILs are just universally entitled, maybe cause they gave birth and reared your DH, they feel like you should pander to their every whim. It's bloody annoying!

Sooo I went to see the seamstress lady today and she basically said it's impossible for me to fit into my dress. She was actually working on a new dress, it wasn't anywhere near finished but I tried on and it's so much more flattering than the other dress. So I am going with a whole new custom dress and feel much better for the decision. And I'll have three fittings between now and big day to get the size right, it's just a much better option whilst I am on this weight loss journey.

I do feel a bit depressed today about how more I have to lose. I don't think I am going to get the stage of feeling happy about my weight before the big day. But then I got my beautiful baby because of this, and hopefully people will understand that really I just gave birth.

Only a 0.8kg loss this week, did no where near enough exercise this week because of hospital, dentist, seamstress etc, so going to hit it hard this weekend. Hopefully it's that period bloat causing slow loss this week.

I think your dresses are absolutely stunning @thismotherhoodthing @Choppies - really classic and beautiful. I have gone for a much more classic, figure hugging style, but am going to get something playful/dramatic done with the arms.

❤️

Choppies · 20/05/2022 14:01

@failinghard well I’m glad you’re going to get a lovely dress that you like! 0.8kg is a fab loss! Even if you don’t feel ‘confident’ I hope this journey and your progress has made you feel ‘better’ and more like yourself after baby

TheOriginalClownfish · 20/05/2022 14:23

Your dresses are gorgeous!

I bought mine a long time ago when we had initially planned a quickie elope. Since then I've gone off the mermaid lower half and making it a slender taper instead, which I'm much happier with and suits me better.

This was the original dress - mine is zipped, not corset back, but the skirt alterations will be more along the lines of this shape.

I think if I lose an inch or two off my arse I'll be happy - the dress alterations have begun so that's the only spot where it's snug instead of fitted so even an inch or so will help there without me needing to rush to the dressmaker again.

I'm lucky that my weight gain seems to be well distributed around every part of me rather than one or two problem areas, so my shape has still stayed the same, my clothes are still ok for now it's just the scales telling me - so maybe I need to throw them out!

I felt good yesterday doing loads of activity so more of that at the weekend. I'm always flat out on Saturdays running around and then Yoga and a woodland run on Sunday should kick off the week in a healthy way.

thismotherhoodthing · 20/05/2022 21:58

@failinghard don't feel depressed! Growing a baby is unbelievably hard work and despite what we see online, most bodies don't just immediately snap back into the shape they were before! Although my dress technically fits (well kind of!) it definitely doesn't look the same as it did pre baby and I'm probably going to have to get some very uncomfortable underwear just to make it doable. Your solution sounds way more sensible and actually quite exciting! A whole new dress! Also no one will have the same one as it's completely unique. And remember you will probably (?) have hair and make up etc done on the day so in general will just feel like a much shinier version of yourself even if you don't lose as much weight as you'd like to

@TheOriginalClownfish that dress is also lovely and plenty of drama! You'll feel great in it I'm sure

thismotherhoodthing · 27/05/2022 07:43

How's everyone doing today? I've weighed in at 136 again so no shift but I've not stuck to the plan much this week and it's TOTM. Really starting to feel like I'm falling off the wagon - need a motivation boost!

OP posts:
failinghard · 27/05/2022 20:35

Crap week!! 0.3kg loss but just about to come on, so hopefully it's that. I worked out loads and didn't cheat, but maybe eating a bit late as rushing around.

My face is killing I had ipl, micro needling, Botox, filler and profhilo yesterday. I don't even look any different lol

Choppies · 27/05/2022 20:50

Also totm so only 0.2kg down. One week to go! Well done everyone for not slipping backwards in tough times. @thismotherhoodthing If you need motivation look back at your start weight and any photos and see how far you’ve come!

don’t worry @failinghard it takes a few days to really see the effect of filler - just keep hydrated!

you can do it ladies

im feeling good despite crap loss and TOTM as finally had hair and make-up trial and got dress finished and shoes arrived. My new skincare routine is keeping me feeling good so maybe treat yourself a little @thismotherhoodthing ?

thismotherhoodthing · 27/05/2022 21:28

@failinghard I bet you look great!! I had a tiny bit of Botox today for the first time. On my number 11 lines - I feel like I'm quite bruised and swollen so hoping it doesn't last and I actually notice something! I'd love to get a bit of subtle filler but I'm a bit scared. How was the Profhilo? I'd love that too but my bank balance and mat pay says no haha

OP posts:
thismotherhoodthing · 27/05/2022 21:30

@Choppies what skincare are you using? I got really into skincare a few years ago and overdid it and ruined my skin so now I'm a bit scared of introducing too many new things in case my skin reacts. I'm drinking loads of water though and taking really good vitamins. Thinking of booking a hydra facial but not sure! Sounds like it's all coming together for you! What's your wedding date?

OP posts:
Choppies · 27/05/2022 22:09

Wedding is June 4th. Just a FAB cleanser and toner then Génifique serum and Kiehls face cream in the AM then PM is just cleanser and BHA exfoliator and face cream. Hahaha yeah my Mat pay won’t quite stretch to Botox either - I’m 29 but have definitely got some forehead lines this last 12 months so it feels like a good time to start

failinghard · 28/05/2022 15:04

@thismotherhoodthing really recommend Hydrafacial, love the results - no down time, amazing short term results and also long term too if you have more than one. I am going back for 2nd round of profhilo and a bit more Botox in a month, then having Hydrafacial two weeks later. My credit card is being rinsed right now, it's scary 😏 but after that I am going to commit to be forty, fat and happy haha

Using vit c serum and then hyaluronic acid then spf in the morning and retinol (just gone up to crystal retinol 6 by Medik8) and a peptide moisturiser before bed. Also been using a facial toner now and again in the morning, and red light before bed to boost collagen, no idea if it's all working but had a few compliments.

Think the Botox takes about 10 days to kick in, I had it around my eyes and all over my forehead, and a bit above my lips as I have a mega gummy smile. And then quite a bit of filler in my chin as I literally have no chin, the results are pretty good, profile is so much better but still looks very natural. Profhilo, I am not seeing a huge difference but you do have to have two sessions, I think it's very subtle - prob nothing you couldn't get from a really good face mask, but like you've just done one all the time if you get me. I had never had anything like that done before so it was all very full on, got a fat bruise on my chin!

We're going out out tonight to see the pet shop boys, MIL is having baba, going to have a few wines and vodkas and be less cautious over dinner x

Choppies · 02/06/2022 13:17

Everyone being good this week? I’m down 2kg thanks to some dodgy lamb

failinghard · 03/06/2022 11:22

@Choppies oh dear you had food poisoning? Sorry to hear that but 2kg is awesome for one week.

I managed 1.1kg this week, just came on so hopefully bigger loss next week. Got a horrible virus at the moment, have no energy so exercise off the cards for a couple of days.

Also doing a charcoal detox so very dehydrated and drinking gallons of water

Wedding is turning into a logistics nightmare, caterers and venue being so shit. Dreading it tbh x

Choppies · 03/06/2022 11:25

Mine is tomorrow now - still on TOTM (first one after baby) - still feeling delicate. Had a couple of last minute drop outs (legit reasons but really messing up plans) - feel so tired after being ill and just feels a huge waste of money at this point. Is that awful to say? All the organising is on me and DP being no help isn’t helping to make me look forward to tomorrow xx

failinghard · 03/06/2022 13:29

@Choppies oh shit it's tomorrow!!! Sending you huge amounts of luck. I think I know how you feel, my DH hasn't done a thing and is bloody clueless, I do think it's going to feel incredible once you are married and you can let your hair down, eat nice food, cake, booze! I do think that is part of the misery of the run up, basic starvation and avoidance of fun things / treats whilst trying to organise this complex, expensive event and having no experience of ever having organised one before (assuming it's the first time). Do you have bridesmaids who can help, assign them all a task? Xx

thismotherhoodthing · 04/06/2022 20:32

@Choppies can't believe it was today!! Hope you had an amazing day and weather was fab!?

@failinghard I feel the same! Al the organisation is on me, on top of organising every other aspect of our lives! Grrrr. I haven't lost this week and been a bit more relaxed today had a few treats. Need to make sure I don't put weight back on as still need to lose a few lbs in order for dress to fit. I've made it to the gym once - better than nothing I guess. What's a charcoal detox? Any good?

OP posts:
Choppies · 05/06/2022 12:25

Thankfully it was all right on the night - I honestly had the best day and looked the best I have ever looked in my life! The shredding was so worth it!
