Hi @Runningcrew 👋🏼 welcome

Did my parkrun and did it in 30 min 50 seconds!! Over two minutes faster than my last one. I did it with a friend who also got a personal best and I reckon we spurred each other on :)

No weight loss on the scales but I'm feeling so delighted with myself that I don't really care 😆

Well done on your park run record! That’s a fantastic time 🤩

SwimmingOnEggshells · 13/05/2023 22:19

Thanks everyone!

Watching the Eurovision and probably enjoying myself too much. Definitely voting for the uk, really love the song, I hope you win 🏆

@WellTidy you will get there, I literally couldn't run longer than a minute and a half at the start of c25k!

Fabulous @SwimmingOnEggshells.

All the running chat inspired me to go out on Thursday for the first time since having Baby Chelseaboots. I aimed to do 3k as slow as I wanted but not stop or walk and managed. It was verrry slow but as long as my heart is pumping I don’t care about the stats.

WellTidy · 14/05/2023 10:21

I take my hat off to you @neverenoughchelseboots - running 3k without stopping is well, we’ll behind me. Gorgeous day here today. I walked to the gym and back for my spin class and am really looking forward to some time in the garden this afternoon.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 14/05/2023 10:48

@neverenoughchelseboots that's amazing considering you haven't been running in a while.

Dull day here but I'm planning on a family hike later, there will be lots of moans from my kids!

thislittlebird · 14/05/2023 18:03

Hello everyone, just checking in to record my progress so far. I’ve found it slow going but it seems I’ve lost about 10lbs now, this is over the last few months.

Still have issues with my scales disagreeing. Unreliable digital ones said I’m 63kg this morning, reliable but inaccurate mechanical ones say I’m 59kg, so I’m somewhere between those 9 st 3 and 9 st 9. Either way, I’m under 10 stone again so that’s good progress.

It’s a milestone birthday next week and we’re off to Portugal for a few days so although I’m not where I’d like to be, I’m back in my shorts and pleased with my progress to date. I’m also a month ahead of last year. Just need to keep it up when I’m back!

I found this YouTube channel, they have lots of videos and I’ve used all different ones the past month:

Thought I’d share in case anyone is looking for workouts online.

Before you continue to YouTube

Sooverthemill · 15/05/2023 09:47

Im doing very badly. Very crap week means that I fell off the wagon eating what was around not planning. And posh seafood restaurant on Saturday for a delayed birthday treat. And very sick dog. Oh well. New week and all…

againmaeve · 15/05/2023 10:17

@Sooverthemill my week was terrible too... I'm not going to dwell on it but I just can't seem to motivate myself at the moment. I guess because it has to be a constant focus now to keep weight stable/lose weight and that's hard. I have an event in a month that I'd like to feel more confident for so will use that as motivation. I do feel confident in myself for the record but I'd have more choice of my clothes to wear if I lost a bit of weight.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 15/05/2023 11:39

Yay to being back in your shorts! @thislittlebird that's a big plus.

I'm back up 2lbs after the weekend, ugh.

NotEvenSlightlyReasonable · 15/05/2023 12:34

@againmaeve I think that's the hardest thing, take your eye off the ball for a moment and all that effort is wasted. Sometimes I wonder whether I really want to be watching the ball for the rest of my life...

I'm down 2lbs this week having not weighed last week, so a steady 1lb a week coming off and I'm very satisfied with that. There's some challenging days at the end of the week so I suspect it won't be such a positive picture next Monday!

@thislittlebird have a brilliant time in Portugal, and in your shorts!

Storynanny1 · 15/05/2023 12:55

Hi everyone knittingnanny here now called storynanny1 asi de registered for awhile ( too much mindless scrolling!)
I weighed a few weeks ago for the first time since the gynaeproblem started in September. I had been so excited last year to finally get back to pre pregnancy weight of 9 st but it crept backup with inactivity.
Not properly fixed but feeling a bit more like walking etc so back on track with my summer target
Currently 9 st 6.5 and it is so slow to come off, usual story for us shorties.
Hope everyone is enjoying a bit of sunshine today - I’m in a summer dress at last!

Storynanny1 · 15/05/2023 12:56

Pre pregnancy was in 1982…….
Cant believe my eldest is 41 this year!

Septemberbeginnings · 16/05/2023 12:12

Hi everyone, I've been following this thread and was on one of the previous threads under a different user name. I'm barely 5 foot and last August decided I had to do something drastic (bar surgery) as I was 13 stone and my blood pressure was high. I looked into the keto diet and tried it for a month or so but couldn't stick to it strictly as I like my fruit and veg too much. So I just cut down on carbs in meals - no potatoes, rice or pasta basically. I'm currently 11st 9lbs and I've been stuck here for months. I have taken my eye off the ball a bit and more carbs have been creeping in but now that the weather is getting warmer I'm hoping that salads etc. will be more appealing.

I'm meeting my son for lunch today so hoping there'll be something on the menu that's healthy and appealing.

Runningcrew · 16/05/2023 15:36

My weekend wasn’t great diet-wise. The worst thing was I polished off the jumbo pack of shortbread. My scale weight was up by just over 1 pound/0.5kg this morning.

But I started C25k today, nice easy run to begin with. Planning to do 2 of the runs each session from now on so hopefully I’ll complete it in about 5 weeks.

I also recommend Juice and Toya which @thislittlebird posted! I do their 15 minute to the beat step workout most days. It gets my step count up by about 1500. They have great dumbell workouts too.

WellTidy · 19/05/2023 12:51

Hello again everyone and welcome @Septemberbeginnings

how lovely to hear from you @Storynanny1 . Sorry that you’ve had gynae issues, I hope they’re under control and that there is a plan for how to deal with them. Wishing you the best.

I weighed in today at 10st 2.5lb which is a 7.5lb loss from March, when I started trying. I’m on week 4 of c25k, still doing spin and yoga or reformer Pilates. Just need to keep the momentum up. We are away for half term in a week’s time, which will set me back, but at least I’ve lost some weight before we go.

hope you all have lovely weekends.

Storynanny1 · 19/05/2023 15:42

Off to iow for a few days on Monday so not sure how I will resist tea shops
gynae issue apparently has been “ fixed” with op 9 weeks ago but has led to urology issues so I’m going to need a new referral. Walking less so not losing the weight really.
This morning I was 9st 6 so another 6 lbs to go to get back to
last summer - when my proper summer clothes fitted nicely!

Runningcrew · 20/05/2023 15:59

Just finished my first week of C25K really enjoying it. I decided to weigh myself on my body composition scales and apparently my body fat while still ‘high’ has dropped slightly and my muscle mass is very high, it’s in the “excellent” range according to the scales app. I’ve also put on a couple of pounds over the past few weeks despite looking more toned .

I know these body composition scales aren’t always super accurate either but just a reminder to everyone that sometimes putting on weight doesn’t mean an increase in fat.

I’m trying to accept this healthy living has to be ongoing lifestyle thing and trust that the weight will eventually drop off rather than working towards specific dates or events but I’m seeing it as a bonus for now and just focusing on fitness and diet and will be keeping an eye on my waist measurements.

WellTidy · 20/05/2023 18:33

Glad that c25k is positive for you @Runningcrew - I am terrified of those body composition scales and stay well away from them. Maybe when I’ve lost some more weight I’ll brace them.

Likely to go above 1300 calories today as I mindlessly ate an enormous bowl of shreddies this morning, I think it was January when I last ate them and was gaining about a pound a week then. Just mindlessly resumed the bad habit! Spin tomorrow.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 22/05/2023 10:29

How do those body composition scales work? Baffling. I'm still amazed by how the internet works so...Blush

I've been sick the last few days which means no exercise and no calorie counting. I've managed to lose another lb which is fab, 7.5lbs loss in total since February, talk about slow!!

I’ve just had a cream tea in Godshill village so now need to walk up a steep hill to the church!

orangegato · 22/05/2023 14:46

How have I never seen this thread before??? I’m 5ft and greedy. I need this.

NotEvenSlightlyReasonable · 22/05/2023 16:05

As predicted, my 3 day weekend was disastrous. Back up to 9st 4.75lbs. But I'm crossing my fingers that quickly on means quickly off, and as long as I'm sensible this week, then I should be back to 9st3 and heading down again by next week. I shouldn't have another patch that's as bad as that for a while, but it was glorious and I don't regret it 😁

BogRollBOGOF · 22/05/2023 23:22

I've just got the Glucose Goddess book, and her approach of reducing glucose spikes makes good sense. I've been trying to 5:2 since the start of the month which has not been a great one for consistency when Monday is usually a better day for fasting. I do find that cutting carbs helps manage the hunger on a fast day though, so the Glucose Goddess methods compliment what makes sense to me.

I've not had enough consistency of diet or exercise to really see results recently, but I do feel like I'm doing OK at rebuilding healthier habits which are a good thing, so I've been trying to build habits around life being messy results or not.

I'm too lazy to count calories, so I tend to work on delaying eating until 1pm, lean protein, lots of veg/ salad, a bit of fat and minimising carbs on fast days in order to have a deficit without feeling miserable about it.

thislittlebird · 31/05/2023 13:09

@BogRollBOGOF I'm interested in the sound of this book. I lost 12lbs before I went to Portugal for 4 nights, and when I was there I ate anything and everything I fancied, including custard tarts and lots of gelato. I noticed I started getting tingly toes off and on towards the very end of the trip/flight home, it seems to coincide with me eating sugar which has worried me a bit.

So I'm back on the weight loss train and need to keep it up, I did well from January to May, want to aim to get to 9 stone now. I haven't weighed myself yet because I know I weigh more after holidays and will probably do a weigh in on Saturday. I know it'll upset me if I've put it all back on, hopefully not all :/

I did week 1, run 1 of c25k this week which was tough, going to do a HIIT and weights workout now.
