I'm still here but now 9 stone 6.8. Literally take my eye off the ball for a moment and put on half a stone...

Griddera · 26/10/2022 20:43

So I've done terribly... a few more lbs on... if I put any more on, my jeans won't fit!

Right. I'm on it now, 5lbs to lose (for a start).

againmaeve · 26/10/2022 21:01

@Knittingnanny2 @Sooverthemill sorry to hear about your health issues. I have to have a 24 hour blood pressure monitor test next week as my readings were very high when I was checked this week. I think it is 'white coat syndrome' but we shall see...

bez91 · 28/10/2022 07:49

Still here, not given up and have lost a bit. Still 8lb off my pre pregnancy weight but trying to focus more on my 'shape' rather than weight. If I have the time to exercise I find my diet follows but this week has been rough with a none sleeping baby and having surgery on my toes later so need to keep on with the good eating whilst being very sedentary for the next few weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️

CookieDoughKid · 29/10/2022 17:30

Hello, new here. I’m 4ft 11 and 56kg. I am pear shape and hold most of my weight on my thighs and belly. Because of this and my height, I have to really keep fit to counter balance the pear shape. I’ve been working out for 5 months and don’t really pay attention to a very healthy eating. But I do eat sensibly and load up on healthy carbs, lean fish and meats. I will eat a pudding or something Sweet every day. My trick is small portions so half a donut, or 5 or 6 squares of chocolate. I probably eat about 1600+ calories a day. Fridays and I will buy supermarket fish and chips rather than a takeout version. It’s a bit healthier and cheaper too and I always try to cook from scratch. I think the key is exercise. I work out 30mins very intensely 5 days a week. Including weight training , body tone exercises and once a week, a hard cardio class or a 3km run. I also do all my own cleaning which helps with the step counts. Because of this, I have lost 2 inches off my waist, bum and thighs and starting to get a very toned flat tummy. I’m 46 with two children so it’s really hard work fitting it in. I tend to go to my fitness classes at lunch time. I will never be thin, but I will be strong and trim and that’s really the key I think. Lots of movement, lots exercise and eat in moderation.

TwentyForty · 31/10/2022 07:35

Last Monday 57.1kg

This morning 55.6kg!

My head suddenly switched into the right place. I realised I needed to focus on health and not the number on the scale, and focused not on dieting, but eating really healthy, whole food and cutting the booze.

I've had tonnes more energy, my mood is better, and it's been such an easy week or so, not depriving myself but fuelling sensibly. I admit the scales finally budging downwards is a bonus!

In my head I have my ideal weight being 50kg, but for the first time I'm trying to let that go.

What does a few kg matter?! Being proud of what my body can do is a far better gauge of success.

Sooverthemill · 10/11/2022 08:15

Hello all. Still trying my best and not doing very well. Need a kick up my bum but post covid I'm still so unwell. Hope everyone else is doing better

againmaeve · 10/11/2022 18:51

Hello @Sooverthemill - I haven't weighed in a while but I am doing the Zoe intermittent fasting study so will see if that makes a difference. Basically eating in a 10 hour window with nothing but water, black tea, herbal tea outside that. How are you doing @Knittingnanny2 ? Waves to the other shorties out there

Knittingnanny2 · 10/11/2022 20:02

Hello to my shortie friends
Im not doing well at all but keep telling myself that prolapse is not terminal! My friends say I haven’t put on weight visibly due to my 10 week inactivity but my clothes are definitely tighter. Maybe Im still subconsciously doing some mindful eating. Surprisingly I haven’t resorted to loads of chocolate.
I’ve done weeks of physio but have brought forward my next consultants appointment to week after next as it’s getting worse every day. I’ll spare you the ghastly details!
Have also made a big decision…… next week my mobile hairdresser is coming to chop off 6” off my hair. It’s hilifted ( whatever that means) and over the last couple of months has gradually got more straw like and is breaking off
Will be a big shock to the system as I’ve had longish hair for most of my 66 years! Im planning to have it cut to chin level and start to grow out the blonde to see what my real colour is like these days.

Using my Remoska a lot recently to cook our tea in and trying to have at least 2 meat free days a week. It uses much less energy than the electric oven and can cook anything that the oven does.
Im not going to weigh myself until after Im “ fixed” as I think it will make me even more miserable!
Best wishes to you all

Sooverthemill · 11/11/2022 12:06

@Morningmaeve ive heard of the study ( I use the app) but not done it. I don't eat 7 pm to 8 am usually anyway! Maybe I should try it

@Knittingnanny2 so sorry to hear how miserable it is. I hope you do get improvement. I'm also thinking of chopping off many inches. My hair is now waist length and I thought I'd go collar bone merely to cut off the chunk of my old natural hair colour that is now being replace by grey. It looks odd ( to me to see a dark brown top knit when I bit it up, above very white hair!). I'm 64

Knittingnanny2 · 11/11/2022 12:53

Soover. It’s a dilemma! In one way it’s easier long as I just tie it up on day 2 and 3 and short hair needs more styling in my experience! I’ll post a picture of it at the moment

Knittingnanny2 · 11/11/2022 12:55

This is a couple of months ago and it’s become more straw like since then - my natural brown is coming through with ghastly steel grey which is what aged my mothers looks I think.

Cant decide to go chin length and have stripes in my hair for a year or the whole hog and have short layers!
I’ve had overnight oats for my breakfast late so will have tea at 5.30/6 which will be sensible chicken
I’ve fitted into my Seasalt 10 dress this morning but it’s a loose a line style!
have a good weekend evetyone

againmaeve · 12/11/2022 08:21

Good luck with hair @Knittingnanny2 - I think it looks lovely in that photo. Mine is box dyed brown and I am so bored of doing it but not quite ready to welcome the grey... I'm finding intermittent fasting useful @Sooverthemill I do 9am to 7pm and it definitely stopped me having that extra glass of wine after dinner last night!

againmaeve · 12/11/2022 08:40

Any other shorties tried intermittent fasting?

bez91 · 12/11/2022 09:47

@CookieDoughKid I think accepting body shape is a good strategy, I'm very similar in the pear shape. Sounds like exercise is going well for you

I fell off the wagon a bit, trying to keep up with exercise but food not great! I had the toe surgery so back to it with my postnatal fitness classes albeit still a little sore! The lack of sleep is killing me at the moment which plays into the food part I think. Must do better next week as hoping to fit back into my work clothes before I go back in March

CookieDoughKid · 12/11/2022 10:49

@bez91 Thank you but there isn't ever a time I think this is easy. Every time I hit a fitness class I think this is hard but it gets a little easier.

The trick is to keep moving. Whatever it takes, even if it's a walk round the block. Do it for an extra 5 minutes. It makes all the difference!!

Sooverthemill · 18/11/2022 11:30

Weighed today and I’m 2lbs down. That is good!

againmaeve · 18/11/2022 17:19

Well done @Sooverthemill - I'm 2lb down too. Possibly due to the intermittent fasting which stops me eating/drinking after 7pm

Knittingnanny2 · 19/11/2022 13:21

I wasn’t very brave! Just had it cut to chin length. My friend who cut it is now retired like me so did it as a one off and she doesn’t do colouring any more. She suggested I go for foils highlights whist I’m growing out the blond.
Surely 5” of hair means I’ve lost a little bit of weight? Unfortunately I’ve know been fairly ( well very) inactive for 12 weeks so I’m actually surprised that I can still fit into most of my clothes. I’m seeing the consultant again next week to find out if I need an operation.
Ive developed a bit of an obsession with Cadbury twirl bites….

Very nice haircut @Knittingnanny2 - and good luck with consultant. My mum had surgery for her prolapse and it was a success.

Knittingnanny2 · 19/11/2022 19:42

@againmaeve thank you, I’m past the point of caring what I end up having to have done!
I will worry about my weight after Christmas….

Sooverthemill · 21/11/2022 18:18

@Knittingnanny2 i finally have a hair appointment this Thursday and plan to have around 8 inches cut off. My hair is suddenly waist length but I have had to cancel the last 3 appointments because e of covid and DDs poor health
