Well done @SwimmingOnEggshells that is really impressive. I’m so happy for you and I hope you’re feeling amazing.

I somehow lost 2lb overnight (I know I didn’t lose 2lb of fat or anything, but I will always take a loss on the scales) so I am now 9st 1lb. Did yoga, spin and picked up where I left off c25k before our week away, so with w4r3, which was a challenge. Walked to the gym and back too, so I’m fit for nothing right now. A shame, as I have quite a lot to do!!

Welcome @jadeyxox, I hope you find your mojo. This thread keeps me accountable and everyone is so chatty and supportive. I have yoyo-ed over the last 18 months, but am hoping I’m in a more even keel now. I started 2022 at 10st 5lb, and resumed walking and just eating less (but the same things). I have now somehow turned into a gym goer at the age of 46, and that is helping me to continue to lose weight and take some weight off my legs and middle. My arms and back are another matter!

jadeyxox · 07/06/2022 12:44

Ah well done @WellTidy!

Well I'm currently 18st 5lb, which I'm absolutely appalled with to be honest. I've been big before, but never the size I am now. So I know things really need to change.

beststepforward · 07/06/2022 16:07

Hi! Can I join?
I'm just under 5"3. 157cm

It's so hard to lose weight at this height. I'm currently 10st 3lbs, chronic health issues and 2 young children.

I've had a particular bad bout of crippling fatigue this passed year and before my second pregnancy I was able to do 5:2 intermittent fasting really well. Since this fatigue though I just can't stick to it. I've read that with adrenal issues we need to eat regularly so now I'm wondering whether I need to change my approach to 1200 cals a day instead?

What's everyone else doing?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 07/06/2022 17:24

Welcome @jadeyxox! Great to have another diminutive lady in our midst. What's your plan? Slow and steady is the way to go!

And thank you all for the congratulations Smile, another two weeks to my holidays and fingers crossed I can shave another couple off 🤞🏻

Hi everyone and welcome to @jadeyxox and @beststepforward . This thread has been brilliant for me and really helps me focus on eating better. There’s nothing but encouragement and no judgement if we slip up or fall completely off the wagon. And it makes all the difference with everyone being short and understanding how hard it is when you’re short!

@beststepforward I did 16:8 last year and did lose weight but felt rubbish the whole time so decided it’s not for me. I’m basically just doing portion control and less snacking at the moment. Also trying to exercise a little bit to help tone up but I’m not the biggest fan of exercise so don’t always do that part.

Well done to @SwimmingOnEggshells and @WellTidy , you’ve both done so well! Still not quite making me want to run though 😆

@Sooverthemill sorry to hear you’re struggling. I hear you on the clean eating but I hope it helps.

Good luck@againmaeve

Hope you’re having a fantastic time @thislittlebird

Knittingnanny2 · 07/06/2022 18:01

I tried a dress on in tkmax today and was horrified at overspill from the midriff area. I irrationally got cross with lovely Mrknittingnanny and asked him why he hadn’t noticed/ stopped me eating mindlessly. He kindly said that tkmax must have trick mirrors
Im on day 2 of low calorie and it’s ok so far...... no smarties left in the house of any colour
Im taking all three of our jumpsuits to Portugal ( 5 day holiday to see one son and grandchildren) so got to stick to the plan from now til July 15th
Knitting club/ childcare day tomorrow so must be extra vigilant about what goes in my mouth!
Hello to the lovely new shorties

jadeyxox · 08/06/2022 11:55

Thanks @SwimmingOnEggshells and @Pommelegible!

I'm thinking maybe trying Slimming World again. But yes, has to be slow and steady with how much I need to lose.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 08/06/2022 23:02

I hope you don't mind me referencing your other thread @jadeyxox and I'm absolutely no expert, but maybe you'd find the 'delay not deny' mindset helpful.

I personally find any kind of diet makes me eat more because it makes a big deal of it and gives food more headspace. Why not try 'I won't have this McDonald's breakfast / takeaway today' and move on.

No grand pledges or commitments, just one better decision at a time. I think you might find that easier to stick to and would certainly see results I'm sure. xx

Hiya, I just wanted to say thanks for this and sorry for taking a while to reply - the other thread has been a bit overwhelming!

neverenoughchelseaboots · 09/06/2022 14:43

I bet. It's very easy to make a whole load of assumptions on these posts, but there's no nuance or context. And people have such strong opinions!

Hope everyone else is having a good week. I went away with work yesterday so treated myself to a breakfast pastry and M&S bits and bobs train dinner but walked both ways across London rather than getting the tube which was about 4 miles.

Pommelegible · 09/06/2022 15:02

I haven’t seen your other thread @jadeyxox but I use the delaying technique and it definitely helps. Both on a small scale ie waiting til after lunch for chocolate and on a bigger scale. As @neverenoughchelseaboots says otherwise you can spend the entire time thinking about the food you’re not allowed. Also taking it one meal/decision at a time means there is no failure so if you eat badly for one meal you just pick up where you left off rather than beating yourself up for failing at the diet and then giving up

WellTidy · 10/06/2022 08:07

Mumsnet ate my very supportive post about delaying! But, in a nutshell, yes, I delay a lot. But I do tell myself that I can have whatever I want, it’s just that if I have it, I pull back in other ways. So if for example I have an almond croissant (my downfall) then I make that my breakfast and really try and eat very mindfully for the rest of the day. It doesn’t work perfectly but I try!

Friday weigh in and I’m 8st 12.5lb, which is a 1st 7lb loss for the year, and I’m somehow below the weight I was before our holiday. Hopefully it will stay off but even if it doesn’t I’m heartened. I am off on a mini break to Ibiza next week (just call me Judith Chalmers) so this is a good start.

How is everyone doing?

Pommelegible · 10/06/2022 20:30

My posts keep getting eaten too @WellTidy , it’s really annoying!

Just popping on to (or at least try to if it doesn’t crash again!)say that I have lost again this week! Don’t quite believe it as feel like I’ve been bad for the snacks again this week but did it twice and definitely a loss. I’ve also finally lost half an inch from my belly!!! And actually visually I think it looks like more off my stomach, I still have the baby pouch but I think higher up looks much slimmer. I’m actually over the moon! Go away next week on my scary girls holiday and it will be so nice to not feel as blobby as I have been although I will never be as glamorous as the others I’m going with!

Knittingnanny2 · 10/06/2022 21:35

I seem to be sticking to my mindful eating quite well, I’m not planning on weighing til next weekend though as I can’t face it!
well done everyone

thislittlebird · 12/06/2022 09:21

Morning fellow shorties. I’m back from Cyprus and I did the dreaded weigh-in. It was worse than expected tbh, I’m incredibly gutted.

I’ve regained every pound lost over the last month in one week, my lost 6lbs are back with me so I’m back to 10st 5lb and have to start from scratch. I’m quite upset at how fast I gained. We barely ate out, self catered mostly and ate lots of fruit and veg, yogurt for breakfast with fruit, not much bread but lots more snacks I suppose like crisps and small ice creams. I knew I’d gained because I could see it the last couple of days away, I looked more round in bikinis and swimsuits again, my lilac shorts that fit had stopped being comfortable. I feel really down now because I was really looking forward to building on my progress before the next IVF transfer attempt and now I have to start from square one again and I know my weight won’t be what I want it to be or even close before then.

I guess this is my very late 30s metabolism, and I hate it. Sorry for the rant, I feel dreadful today after getting on those scales.

thislittlebird · 12/06/2022 09:45

Welcome to@beststepforward and @jadeyxox. I’ve just posted to say I’ve regained my losses so maybe I’m not much help 🤣 but 20 mins of daily exercise (most days, maybe 5/7) definitely seemed to work for me. I didn’t really stop eating anything, I counted calories, made sure I was eating well, scaled back portions and cut back on snacks.

thislittlebird · 12/06/2022 11:07

Ok I measured my waist. It’s 34.5 inches now, it was 32.5 before I left for holiday and it was 36 when I started so I guess that’s a positive that I haven’t undone all the waist improvement.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 12/06/2022 21:26

Weigh again @thislittlebird. I always lose 2-3 lb the week after I come back from holiday. I think the flight must cause some sort of water retention. Hopefully you'll see similar.

I've got a sickness bug so consoling myself that I've saved about 1500 calories by not eating anything all day.

thislittlebird · 13/06/2022 07:41

@neverenoughchelseaboots yeah could be a bit of water retention. 1lb less today but that’s not much really, I have to restart the exercise regime today pfffft. The fact I’m almost back to where I was is disappointing.

Oh no, hope you feel better soon. I tell myself the same thing when I’m having vicious hormonal migraines.

Sooverthemill · 13/06/2022 19:40

Am doing my best to keep on the straight and narrow. Am going gluten free again to see if that helps as my intolerances have really kicked off again

Sooverthemill · 14/06/2022 09:53

Weighed myself today and I’ve lost almost 2 pounds. Yay

thislittlebird · 14/06/2022 10:08

I’m 10st 3lb today, so maybe @neverenoughchelseaboots was right. Still not great but hopefully I can get down a couple more pounds in a week of diet and exercise.

@Sooverthemill that’s great!

I’ve restarted the 30 day shred but I’m adding extra weights in to the lower level. Struggled with food a bit yesterday, wanted to snack constantly and I’m hoping that will improve as I adjust again.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 14/06/2022 14:00

That's brilliant @Sooverthemill.

Thanks to my bug I'm 9st 2.8 after hovering between 9,4.5 and 9,5.5 for a few weeks.

I'm sure I'll put some back on but do have a reduced appetite so using that alongside delaying where I can to try and keep momentum.

I'm 40 in 3 weeks and would love to be under 9st by then, but I think a lb per week is too ambitious. I'll try to make better choices one at a time and see what happens though. I know if I make a grand plan I'll just go off the rails and be counter productive.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 14/06/2022 14:04

I'm also living vicariously through DS at the moment. We've had conversations on here in the past about our picky eater children, but DS is the opposite of DD. Weaning has been an absolute pleasure - prune and clove porridge last night and he cried when it ran out.

So instead of thinking about my own treats I've been soaking chia seeds and steaming fennel. (And it's all so virtuous it's not actually tempting to snaffle the non-existent leftovers.)

againmaeve · 14/06/2022 14:57

Well done @Sooverthemill - I haven't weighed again yet but I've just been for a swim and did an 8k walk yesterday
