Welcome @LollipopViolet Smile

I need to post my food for accountability because although I’ve (mostly) done well at cutting down on the chocolate my meals have been a bit crap recently. Just a general cba feeling around cooking and preparing meals meaning too much processed stuff and picking instead of proper meals. On Sunday I basically ate bread for every meal Blush

Yesterday
2 cups of tea
weetabix with oat milk
coffee with oat milk
about 20 maltesers (was decorating a cake and finished off the bag 😳)
slice of roast beef, chunk of cucumber
2 pieces of granary toast with butter and marmite
green tea
kombucha
water
slice of grilled halloumi, half a carrot (it seems I’m back to picking when giving dc food 🙄)
tagliatelle with tomato and red lentil sauce
water
birthday cake
camomile tea

Today
2 cups of tea
coffee with oat milk
2 slices sourdough with butter, 1 slice roast beef, 2 slices brie. Handful of spinach, 4 cherry tomatoes
green tea
kombucha
water
dinner will be chicken and veg in a satay sauce with courgetti (noodles for everyone else)
probably more birthday cake (Either as an afternoon snack or as pudding)

I have exercised 3 days in a row 😇

WellTidy · 24/05/2022 14:47

Welcome @LollipopViolet , and good luck with your weight loss journey

Glad you like the jumpsuit @Knittingnanny2 and I am absolutely chuffed that we are wearing the same size! A huge achievement for me to be matching you, you’ve always looked so slim in your photos

Well done in the daily exercise @Pommelegible

I’ve had a whoosh and am down to 9st on the nose. That was enough to propel me through yoga, spin and w3r3 of c25k this morning. To be under 9st for our holiday on Sunday now seems doable. Planning to spend some time tomorrow putting holiday clothes together and working out what I really need. I always take too much, but I am conscious that we will be in a hotel this time and people make an effort for dinner. I am used to us having a villa and the only extra thing I wear for dinner is DEET!

How is everyone else?

WellTidy · 24/05/2022 14:49

I’m impressed at the swimming @purplegirl13. I would like to do this as I cannot breathe efficiently in the pool and so I feel like I’m having a heart attack after each length! I’m glad you’re seeing positive effects.

Knittingnanny2 · 24/05/2022 16:36

Ahh thank you @WellTidy thats a lovely compliment. Which I needed after a so called craft group this afternoon ! I’ve joined the old ladies club ( aka WI) and not sure it’s for me, very snooty posh ladies, very cliquey, frowned at for taking my own knitting when it was supposed to be making poppies for a local church and I got shouted out by a man in the snooty posh road for parking too near his drive!
I'm not ready for clubs like that yet.
Steak and chips for tea tonight !
Off to USA Friday, covid test permitting. Already looking forward to my middle sons lovely cooking! They have the most delicious bread called potato bread ( not cakes or farls like in the uk) and I’m looking forward to that as well.
Not looking forward to having to go to an all day football tournament on Saturday though!
middle son does make lovely packed lunches though.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 25/05/2022 11:48

@WellTidy 🎉, that's amazing! You must be delighted

@LollipopViolet Welcome 👋. Consistent small changes is the key to making it sustainable, so I think you have a good plan.

@Knittingnanny2 that's horrible of them! I used to be treasurer of my WI! But we were a self confessed feral, city WI! Not young and trendy (I was the only non-retiree) but very down to earth. I remember going to Bruge with them and laughing a lot! Unfortunately I moved house and it started costing £8 in petrol just to do crafts each time so I left. I do have one of the members coming round for lunch tomorrow though who I haven't seen for many years.

I'm 9st 4.4 at the moment, so creeping down very gradually. I'm 40 in 6 weeks so would love a couple more lbs off before then. Don't think I'll be catching Welltidy again though unless I sort my schedule out and magic some free time for exercise.

Hope everyone else is having a good week too.

Pommelegible · 25/05/2022 12:48

Well done on the loss @WellTidy (definitely going to start calling you WellFit).

That’s a real shame about the group @Knittingnanny2 . I’ve recently started going to a class (yoga) where everyone is at least 20 years older than me but they were all really friendly and nice to me so I didn’t mind! There’s no need for people to be snooty and unfriendly.

Today’s food:
2 cups of tea
Greek yoghurt with mixed seeds and mixed berries
black coffee
piece of rocky road (at toddler group and I have no willpower)
courgette salad
2 pieces sourdough with butter
2 slices Brie
kombucha
green tea
dinner will be aloo paneer palak. Except my paneer was substituted for halloumi. Am serving chicken thighs, rice and poppadoms with it. I will almost certainly have a poppadom or two (see aforementioned lack of willpower)and may have a bit of rice depending how hungry I am. Not fussed about the chicken.

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2022 13:08

@LollipopViolet welcome! How did you get on yesterday?

@WellTidy go you! I still can't get the breathing right when swimming but I think that will only come with time, and confidence

@Knittingnanny2 well, they don't sound like a nice bunch!

hello to everyone else!

I have to say, my last few days have been ok. I am stripping it right back and starting easy - no snacking unless fruit. Breakfast of yogurt and berries. I've finished the last of my cheese so aiming to have no cheese in the house in a bid to tackle high cholesterol. That's not saying no cheese ever, just mindful choices.

Today:
B - nothing as been in meetings all day
L - crackers with cheese, cherry tomatoes and red onion
S - pear
D - am out for Turkish food and wine.

Baby steps, starting off with no processed food

Any suggestions please for quick and very easy options? for example, one evening last week I had sliced mozzarella, avocado, and tomatoes with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Surprisingly filling and ready in 2 mins.

Otherwise I think omelettes might be the way to go!

Knittingnanny2 · 25/05/2022 13:42

@Pommelegible I love the sound of your menu!
off to my lovely knitting group now and apparently it’s lemon drizzle cake today.....

WellTidy · 25/05/2022 15:11

Had to check in and share my news. I am 8st 13.5lb. I am in disbelief, it has seemed so far off many, many times over the last five months. But I’m there. Not for long I don’t think, as I’ve had a buttered hot cross bun, slice of cake and mini eggs already today. But it was great while it lasted!

A week of indulgence next week will do some damage, I’m sure, but not as much as it would have done had I not lost the 1st 5.25lb I’ve lost this year with all your support.

I can’t thank you all enough 😘

Knittingnanny2 · 25/05/2022 17:51

@WellTidy well done! I have the aim of being that again after the summer, too many trips which involve food before then!

Pommelegible · 25/05/2022 20:16

Oh wow @WellTidy you must be delighted! All that hard work you’ve put in is really creating results, well done!

Thanks @Knittingnanny2 , it was good. Palak/saag dishes are my favourite. Trying hard to be a bit more healthy and eat more veg after a few weeks of eating rubbish, especially after eating bread bread and bread on Sunday and then another day of basically all carbs on Monday! I don’t experience the hunger/sugar crashes/energy dips other people report with carbs but more veg can only be a good thing!

againmaeve · 25/05/2022 20:38

Delighted for you @WellTidy!

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2022 23:45

@welltidy popping in quickly to say well done! It is much deserved, you continue to inspire me from the daily walks.... right down to the almond croissants😀 however you'll never get me at a spin class!!

purplegirl13 · 25/05/2022 23:49

For accountability:
B- nothing
L- crackers with cheese, cherry tomatoes and red onion
D - Turkish meze dishes, bread and salad
1 bottle of rose, 1 gin and rose lemonade
1 flake ice cream cone

I'm happy with that. Drinking a pint of water and I'm off to bed!

Neversaygoodbye · 26/05/2022 07:39

@WellTidy oh to be under 9st, well done. I've been on my new healthy eating plan now for just over 5 weeks and weigh in this morning puts me at 10st 0.6lb...so close to getting under 10st for the first time in a good couple of years. Losing roughly 1lb a week, I wish it was more but the fact I'm losing consistently shows this way of eating is what I needed to shift the weight and I'm enjoying trying out new recipes. Yesterday I had an egg wrap for lunch, I was very sceptical but it was actually extremely yummy and satisfying!

WellTidy · 26/05/2022 10:27

Thank you to each and every one of you for your kind words, they are much appreciated. I definitely didn’t think (though I did always hope) that I would be under 9stone now, particularly after starting 2021 at 10st 13.5lb, and then in the second half of 2021regaining a stone of the 1st 10lb that I lost in the first half. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster and I haven’t found it easy. I’m somehow 8st 13.5lb this morning despite eating poorly yesterday to congratulate myself 🫤

It has spurred me on to do spin again this morning, and w4r1 of c25k. The 2 x 5 minute runs were a challenge but I did them slowly (8.7km/hr, which I know is slow) but I got through. With the help of Bruce Springsteen, Lizzo and Beyoncé 😂

Pommelegible · 26/05/2022 20:03

Just popping on with my food for today to keep me accountable

2 cups of tea
2 weetabix with oat milk
coffee with oat milk
2 slices sourdough toast with avocado
1 chocolate ginger biscuit
kombucha
green tea (you can tell I’m a creature of habit with my drinks!)
water
water
lamb steak with tabbouleh, avocado, lettuce and tomato and the rest of my courgette salad. Oh and some tzatziki and I finished ds’ new potato.
about to have a camomile tea, just made dd some toast and I resisted because I am not hungry and I do not need it (I bloody love toast!)

I haven’t done proper exercise today as been busy but I just did 30 each of squats, lunges and press ups before I showered and I’ve walked over 16000 steps so not too bad

Knittingnanny2 · 26/05/2022 20:41

Got my negative test so off to NY to see my son in the morning. I’m going to post you lot a photo of his fab new bbq and pool with me lounging around the edge. With my Diet Coke and whatever lovely stuff he conjures up!

purplegirl13 · 26/05/2022 21:52

@Knittingnanny2 phew, so glad you can go away! Do keep us posted on you NY adventures

I have come back from my 3rd swimming lesson, if you'd told me 2 hours ago I'd be trying to sit down at the bottom of the deep end of the pool, I'd never have believed you! I didn't manage it but kept trying, I also couldn't get to the bottom to fetch a toy 😀

Today:
B - nothing
L - Spanish omelette
D - fried egg and half a portion of microwave rice
Now having a cup of miso soup, and not the massive bowl of pasta I want after my swimming lesson.

Not much consumed today as I was sleeping most of the day due to a migraine.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/05/2022 23:32

I've had a busy few days so only catching up now.
@WellTidy when I read your post I'd a big smile on my face. I'm so happy you reached your goal, your journey has been so impressive and inspiring! Your hard work really has paid off. 💪

@Knittingnanny2 yay to being covid free, have a blast! 🇺🇸

I've only reached my pre-weekend weight today 😠 but I've been v focused, for eg. Eggs for lunch and then a proper dinner, no snacks and only coffee for breakfast. I better be down tomorrow!

I'm going to do w4 c25k run tomorrow, eek, not looking forward to running for 5 minutes!

Great news Knitting, have the most wonderful time.

I'm not a strong swimmer so I love the idea of adult swimming lessons Purple.

I'm down to 9st 3.8 this morning which I'm very pleased with. Yesterdays food was:

B: chocolate pillow cereal and mixed berries. (I don't like milk, eggs or yoghurt so breakfasts are always really tricky for me.)
L: orzo with reduced fat red pesto and reduced fat feta
D: tacos, one fish, one blackbean. With sweet potato wedges.
S: 4 Jaffa cakes and a fibre one bar, one weak gin and slimline tonic.

Pommelegible · 27/05/2022 07:05

Yay @Knittingnanny2 have an amazing time! So pleased you are able to go!

Cathy31 · 27/05/2022 07:42

I'm going to try again. Kids have been sick for days, and DH away for work, so I've been eating really badly (why does that follow???)

Today, I've started badly with croissant and juice. I'll have salad, rice cakes and hummus for lunch unless there's leftovers. Dinner, maybe soup? And I might start c25k. Does anyone here find it makes them hungrier?

Good luck everyone. I'm feeling glum about my weight. Just want to get below 50kg but I can't seen to get there. It's all in the mind, and my mind isn't cooperating at the moment.

againmaeve · 27/05/2022 07:52

Have a lovely time @Knittingnanny2. My weight is creeping up. I really need to get a grip. Plan for today:
B Boiled egg and one slice toast.
L 2 x falafel salad small flatbread
D Veggie lasagne 1 glass wine
Plus a 5k walk after work

purplegirl13 · 27/05/2022 09:26

weighing in at 10st9 today, hoping it's a fluctuation and it's really about 10st7!

Today:
B - nothing, I will try to exist on green/mint tea until lunch-time
L - tbc
D - tbc
S - pear

@SwimmingOnEggshells was it you who made some soup with frozen butternut squash? I have some in the freezer so might do this for lunch or dinner today.
