I was looking forward to re-discovering my old wardrobe once I was no longer pregnant. But in reality I've gone off 80% of it. It all seems a bit cheap and crap now.

So I've got a notion of not buying any clothes for 12 months + and then going to Selfridges, getting a personal shopper and getting a new capsule wardrobe with a small number of things in that all go together. I'm not very good at putting outfits together and have hit a point in life that I'm happy to wear 3-4 good outfits on rotation.

I'll probably never do it, but that's the current day dream.

WellTidy · 18/05/2022 19:16

I’ve spent this week and last week going through old clothes of mine, which I’d kept for far too long in the hope that some would fit. I haven’t even finished and I have already put together eight bin bags absolutely full for the charity shop and another two which are rag. It is absolutely shameful. Id had bags for life stacked full and tucked into cupboards and in the attic. Some of it still has tags on. DH is speechless. I’d say I’m more than half way through the clothes but I haven’t tackled shoes yet. You’re right @neverenoughchelseboots when I look at it again I don’t actually want to wear most of it.

I did spin today and then some rowing. Gearing up for w3r1 tomorrow morning before spin again. I think it may finish me off.

Knittingnanny2 · 18/05/2022 19:26

I love it! I’m getting one. I think I’ll try a 12

WellTidy · 18/05/2022 19:51

@Knittingnanny2 delighted that you like it. The Asda one in a Small now fits me like a glove, as does the 12 from sainsburys. The sainsburys one is slightly less flattering on my tummy, but only if I’m being critical of it. The jumpsuit, I mean, not my tummy. Such good value.

Sooverthemill · 18/05/2022 20:00

@Kendrickspenguin I hope you enjoy it! It's a firm favourite here

all those jumpsuits are making me envious but in reality I can never work out how to get my arms out of a jumpsuit

Knittingnanny2 · 18/05/2022 21:57

Ordered it

Hello all - popping on to say hi but my dieting mojo seems to have left the building. Not sure why but I have been busy. Not going to stress about it but I'm posting for accountability as I don't want to gain back everything I managed to lose last year. Still not snacking so that's good but just generally eating a bit too much - and we shorties just can't do that without paying the price.

Sooverthemill · 20/05/2022 09:07

We’re having a few rubbish days still. But I had fish and chips yesterday but a kid’s portion and I feel okay with that. Also had hot chocolate with DD yesterday afternoon as she asked me to sit with her, she is so miserable and unwell obviously I did. Today is another day and I know I’m slowly reducing my waistline!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 20/05/2022 10:20

Well day 1 of week 3 in c25k was a bit of a shocker! Two three minute runs and two 1.5 minute runs, I totally wasn't expecting to have to run for three minutes. I managed to get through it though so very happy with that.

I had wine last night and then I ate a load of tortillas and salsa so I'm up 1lb and a quarter!

OP posts:
WellTidy · 20/05/2022 10:36

It’s taken me a week to get to the weight I was this time last week, 9st 1.5lb, due to over-indulging last weekend at a wedding. I am feeling really hard done by, as I know that I ate less, and drank way, way less than anyone else that I was with. I know it’s about me, not them, and this is my body/life etc, but I have such a sense of injustice! Laughing to myself as I type, but it’s true. A week to lose it! All that exercise!!

I did w3r1 yesterday and had to do the runs pretty slowly (8.7km/hr) but I’m pleased that I managed it. I made the mistake of looking ahead to next week and was very shocked at what is expected, so I won’t share!

I did an hour’s walk at high gradient this morning on the treadmill. I am in an exercise routine each weekday now, and do the second of the week’s runs at the weekend, which is working ok for me. I am pretty knackered though. The gym isn’t a natural place for me.

I agree with the posting for accountability. It is no coincidence what when I stopped posting on this thread and logging on MFP last year, I put on over a stone. Good luck to all - life is complex and demanding, we’re all doing well regardless of losses or gains.

Sooverthemill · 21/05/2022 09:46

Quite good day yesterday. A wobble at lunchtime when I contemplated a chocolate macaroon but ended with turkey mince fajitas which were delicious. I’m not sure if it should be fajitas but that’s what the kit was called

thislittlebird · 21/05/2022 10:29

I’m planning on doing my third couch to 5k run this weekend. I’ve been good with food, and exercising most days. It’s my birthday tomorrow and we’re cooking paella and tapas dishes, plus creme catalana and wine. So definitely not a diet day!

Weighed in today and my hit and miss scales are saying 10st 2lb. Which is about right, 1lb per week loss. Haven’t measured my waist again yet, might do that tomorrow morning before the calorific meal lol.

Holiday is two weeks from today!

@WellTidy Crete was one of the islands we were looking at before we landed on Cyprus, my husband wanted to go because he’d never been. Neither of us have been to Crete either, to be fair.

WellTidy · 22/05/2022 20:24

I’m back up to 9st 2lb which I am really disappointed with. I’ve exercised hard this week and eaten pretty sensibly. Hoping it’s just a blip and that the general downward trend will resume.

Week three run two done. Much easier today but I’m taking Jo Whiley at her word when she says a slow jog. I am doing the running bits at 8.7km/hr which I know is slow. I wasn’t feeling too bad at all after today’s run so I’m guessing I need to go a bit quicker. Or maybe it is because yesterday was a no-exercise day for me so I’m feeling a bit brighter today.

WellTidy · 22/05/2022 20:30

@thislittlebird i find the waist measurement thoroughly depressing! The guidance seems to be that womens waists should measure less than half their height. Mine isn’t quite at half yet and this is the smallest my waist has been in about four years. And yet I’m a size 12 in all M&S trousers. Is a size 12 smaller than average for UK women? I had thought it was, which means that (allowing for variations in waist measurement due to body shape) maybe half of the women in the UK don’t have healthy waist measurements. No judgement whatsoever, obviously, as I said, mine isn’t a healthy measurement yet and I’m smaller than I’ve been for a good while. I just find it generally worrying.

thislittlebird · 22/05/2022 22:57

@WellTidy I’ve never heard of this before, that’s really interesting. I googled and found the table attached.

So it seems my waist should be 31” according to this. It was 36” before I started working out, then today I measured and it’s 34.5”, that’s not a bad reduction over 3 weeks. I currently have the waist of a 5’8” woman 🙃

I’m probably a size 12 in trousers and skirts at the moment.

Shorties trying to lose weight - thread number 4!
Sooverthemill · 23/05/2022 09:28

That's interesting but I'm very sceptical of NICE guidelines on obesity. I am a straight up and down person and my waist and hips have never been massively different ( well 27 to 33). I loathe BMI as that's so damaging. I'm aiming for what I feel good at

SwimmingOnEggshells · 23/05/2022 12:14

I'm the same @WellTidy , I'm actually up 2lbs on last Thursday which is very annoying. I ate normally over the weekend and had wine, Thurs, Fri and Sat so I'm clearly paying the price!

I also managed to get run2,week3 in this morning and I'm still finding it very hard. My breathing is fine, it's just the sheer weight of my legs and everything seems to hurt when I run. I did it though, so that's a big positive.
I also did a load of lunges and some squats.

I just had a look at myfitnesspal and I'm 7lbs away from the weight I was when we last had an international holiday 3 years ago, I would absolutely love to get to that weight again so I'm back to being super focused.

@thislittlebird happy birthday!

Pommelegible · 23/05/2022 12:35

@WellTidy i definitely identify with the sense of injustice!

Weight is the same this week but I have now (according to my not very scientific measurements) lost 1inch off my waist and thighs. Unfortunately my stomach and upper arms remain the same measurements and those are the bits I really want to slim down a bit! Ah well, it may happen yet.

purplegirl13 · 23/05/2022 13:02

Hi Ladies,

I really need the accountability so aiming to post more regularly. Scales were showing 10st9 this morning, but 10st7 towards the end of last week so will see what happens on Friday's weigh in

@WellTidy @SwimmingOnEggshells sorry to let the team down on C25K but I am going to start up on Weds. I'm still having my one on one pilates class weekly and will start group classes this Saturday. I've had 2 swimming lessons and they are going well so far, I ache afterwards so taking that as a sign muscles are being used!

Lots of socialising happening and it is eye-opening how much alcohol dictates my eating habits

I had a call from the doctor last week to say my cholesterol is high, I have asked for 3 months to turn it around as I don't want to take meds. I'll need to make a real effort on the diet front. I blame genetics and a love of cheese/cake.

Today:
B - greek yoghurt and berries
S - satsuma
L - bread, mushroom pate and cheese
D - www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/one-pots/warm-aubergine-pomegranate-and-onion-salad/ with some rice

Hope everyone is keeping well x

Cailindeas35 · 23/05/2022 14:10

Hi ladies
I haven't posted for so long. I lost 2 lbs over the last 2 weeks, but I gained it again. I totally fell off the wagon last week, so my own fault. Back.on it today. Ladies ye are all doing so well.

LollipopViolet · 23/05/2022 18:20

Can I join? I’m short and need to shift a lot of weight. Will weigh properly in the morning but just jumped on out of curiosity and am close to 15 stone :(

LollipopViolet · 24/05/2022 07:13

Okay, did a proper weigh in this morning and it’s not as bad as I posted sbove. 14 stone 4, which is still bad, but better than I feared.

Right, the work starts today.

Knittingnanny2 · 24/05/2022 08:19

@WellTidy jumpsuit came yesterday and I love it! The 12 is a perfect fit. Just need some warmer weather now

SwimmingOnEggshells · 24/05/2022 12:56

Welcome @LollipopViolet , what's your plan? we're a friendly bunch here :)

OP posts:
LollipopViolet · 24/05/2022 13:31

The plan is calorie counting and just making little changes. A few things have crept in so need to get a handle on things.
