Just checking in!

@busybeeee222 I measured myself this morning, only the waist, and I’ve lost an inch! 🙌 It’s day 14 today since I started and I think I’ve skipped 3 days but walked up hill and back on one of those days. I’m so pleased, it’s motivation to continue!

I’ve gone from 10 stone 5lb to 10 stone 3lb (3 and a bit pound). If I could get back into the 9 category by June I’d be thrilled.

Sooverthemill · 16/05/2022 10:10

Went out for dinner Saturday night for the official birthday dinner. Utterly delicious but of course huge meal. Will weigh tomorrow

WellTidy · 16/05/2022 10:17

So sorry that you’re unwell @Knittingnanny2 - how are you feeling today?

Good morning to everyone else. Start of a new week! Let’s go!!

We went to a wedding over the weekend, and I thought I was fairly restrained. Clearly not! I am 1.25lb up, and weighed in at 9st 2.25lb this morning.

Did W2R2 of c25k yesterday and really felt it after the weekend’s shenanigans. And did 6km over an hour of high gradient walking on the treadmill this morning and it was like I was back where I started. It was so hard all the way through.

13 days until our holiday. Loads to do - kids each need summer shoes, swimsuits, clothes etc and I need to work out what fits me.

thislittlebird · 16/05/2022 11:21

@WellTidy where are you off to on holiday? We’re off in 18 days!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 16/05/2022 11:23

Oh @Knittingnanny2 I hope it passes soon and that you're both not feeling too badly.

I had an ok weekend, only had a drink on Saturday night but I then stuffed my face with two packets of crisps and nuts. Then yesterday I wasn't feeling great so I had sausage rolls, more crisps and cake. Back on it now today though, I've a huge pot of sweet potato soup and another smaller one of courgette and gruyere.
I've also fallen behind with my C25k, I have my period and a headache so I'll leave it until tomorrow I think...

We are not too bad, my blocked nose/sinus/post tooth thingy is far worse! Mr knittingnanny had shivers for 24 hours now just a regular cold.
dieting still completely out of the window.
I’m not sleeping at all ( well 6.00 am til 9.30 was last night/this mornings total!) and want to bury mrKN head under a pile of pillows to stop the covid snoring which is even worse than his non covid snoring.
Hope you are all near to fitting into your beautiful holiday clothes, I’ve got my last years which I didn’t wear, monsoon midi dress on with lipstick etc - all dressed up with nowhere to go. Except a sneak into the library with a mask to return due back today books

WellTidy · 16/05/2022 16:12

The Covid snore! Oh yes. Thankfully DH is not normally a snorer (in contrast to my dad who constantly woke me up when I was growing up) but he didn’t half snore for three weeks after he tested positive for Covid. I recorded him on my phone one night as I knew he wouldn’t believe me. Hope you’re both back to normal soon @Knittingnanny2.

Sooverthemill · 17/05/2022 09:54

Yesterday was an awful day, vet thinks old dog has pancreatic cancer (ultrasound to confirm on Friday) and DD has been very unwell and I just lost it after trying to get GP telephone call and poor DH had me sobbing in his arms for half an hour ( all rescued by GP seeing I'd called and popping round at lunchtime to see her and to order urgent bloods, I would like him to move in please). He knows I only ask when it's desperate

so I ate my sensible lunch then had a chocolate covered macaroon and mid afternoon a huge hunk of sourdough with raspberry jam. Then had sensible dinner and craved sweet things. Oh well, today is another day. Off to raise celariac for another Anna jones recipe ( celariac kedgeree)

SwimmingOnEggshells · 17/05/2022 12:48

@Sooverthemill I'm sorry sorry hear about your Ddog, pets really get into your heart don't they? And of course your DD being unwell is just awful for you too. Sending you hugs. Go easy on youself.

As for my diet is ticking along ok, 5 weeks to my holiday and I haven't been this focused in years! I actually don't know how i'm doing it. Lunch of soup + dinner every day is insanely boring and restrictive but now that I'm seeing results it's spurring me on even more.

I managed to get back to the gym today and I did run 2, week 2 of c25k, it was hard but I managed to run for an extra minute at the end, woo! Going to go to the gym again tomorrow and then I'll have done my 3 for the week. I see week 3 will be 2 minutes of running, 2 minutes walking, so 5 runs in total. That's doing to be tricky...

Sorry life is so tough @Sooverthemill - thinking of you.

WellTidy · 17/05/2022 13:26

@Sooverthemill sending you strength, you’re really going through it at the moment.

@SwimmingOnEggshells Great planning with the soups! Glad you’re in the zone.

@thislittlebird we are going to Crete. Never been before but I’m hoping it will be right up our street. Bikini is going back though, I don’t know what I was thinking!

I did w2r3 this morning after yoga and spin and found it tough, so I think 2 minutes running five times in w3 is really going to stretch me. Also walked to and from the gym so I’m ready to collapse in a hot heap now. It is such a glorious day but I always find the heat draining.

Sooverthemill · 17/05/2022 13:44

Thank you everyone. Today seems easier.
@WellTidy Crete is lovely! I’ve been a few times. I love the whole of Greece though. Also, Greek pastries are divine

Pommelegible · 17/05/2022 14:35

Oh @Sooverthemill big hugs to you.

I fell off the exercise wagon over the weekend as we had guests staying but was feeling ok as seem to have a 600g loss and waist is measuring half an inch less.

Then tried on a bikini top in a shop changing room. Oh my god. Came out feeling really shit about myself and said to dp I didn’t know how they expected anyone to buy anything they’d tried on with the horrible unflattering lighting in there that emphasised every lump and bump and wrinkle. To which he replied “don’t moan about it when you’re not prepared to do anything about it, just do some sit ups if you’re that unhappy”. So then I cried.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 17/05/2022 15:05

@Pommelegible

😡 for you. How dare he? Does he know you've been doing cardio etc? I wouldn't let him away with that

OP posts:
WellTidy · 17/05/2022 15:09

@Pommelegible i feel your pain. My bikini is going back, and I don’t even have the excuse of harsh lighting and I tried it on in my bedroom. But - and I really mean this - please do buy and wear a bikini. I have never ever been on holiday and thought anything about anyone wearing one. Whatever their size or shape. Holidays are for relaxing and enjoying.

neverenoughchelseboots · 17/05/2022 15:17

I was going to say exactly the same, I've never not worn a bikini because I can't believe that anyone would care enough to register it.

I also wore the same dress to 8 consecutive Christmas parties for the same company because again - who the hell notices?!

neverenoughchelseboots · 17/05/2022 15:19

I highly recommend this recipe, I had it with halloumi rather than chicken and it was absolutely delicious. Would be pleased with it in a restaurant level of delicious.

Shorties trying to lose weight - thread number 4!
Pommelegible · 17/05/2022 17:40

Thanks everyone. @SwimmingOnEggshells he does know I’ve been doing some exercise but he’s into bodybuilding so spends 45 minutes + on his workouts so doesn’t think mine is worthwhile. I think what upset me the most is that a lot of what was highlighted by the lighting/mirror is stuff that can’t be undone; I’ve had seven pregnancies and carried four babies to term so I have some stretchmarks and loose skin, the skin around my belly button has been stretched and is all wrinkly (my 3 year old told me it looks like a bum hole 🙄) and I’m older now so my skin is less taut than it used to be anyway. A few sit ups isn’t going to fix that! Yes I could lose a bit more fat but I have been pretty careful with what I eat so it’s not like I’ve been making zero effort to do that.

WellTidy · 17/05/2022 20:20

I can empathise @Pommelegible. My two were large, and us shorties don’t have a lot of space to accommodate large babies. As a result, my skin stretched a lot, and I have a lot of puckered skin around my belly button especially. And there is no chance of me losing it. I’m fact, the smaller my waist, the less fat to fill it out, and so it actually looks worse. I am the only person I know with more stretch marks above the belly button than below. Hard to cover up even with big pants!

I am very sorry for your losses.

Sooverthemill · 18/05/2022 09:39

@Pommelegible that's horrible. I hate how some men only equate the exercise they do with 'real work'. Don't they know our bodies are different?
weighed today and still going down a little. Didn't end up have them fevered sadly, the day turned to sh*t so I added the roast celeriac to the left over paprika pasta and mixed that with the left over chicken paprika. It was really really good and as each was small er than a portion kind of added up to an acceptable feast. Just as well given how the days are going

SwimmingOnEggshells · 18/05/2022 12:55

Babies really do ruin your tummy unfortunately 😞 are you feeling any better today?

I'd say Kim Kardashian used a surrogate on her third to save her figure 😲

My weight is going down nearly every day at the moment. I can't believe it! Also managed to get my third run of week 2 in, dreading the step up to a 2 minute run!

My lunch today is edamame beans and a banana 😇 dinner tonight is spaghetti bol

neverenoughchelseboots · 18/05/2022 14:54

All this talk of running is making me jealous. Who gets jealous of running? 🤪. I might try and go tomorrow lunch but I've not done any exercise for a year.

I'm 9st 5.5lb so put on a lb last week on holiday, not ideal but could be worse.

Kendrickspenguin · 18/05/2022 16:28

Hello,
I am making the paprika chicken recipe from this thread for tea tonight. I had two large babies and breast fed them for a total of well over five years. My body is a wreck from the neck down, and my face isn't all that great either. I have hot a plateau, so I am a bit miffed at the mo. This thread is keeping me going though.

WellTidy · 18/05/2022 17:27

For those who liked @Knittingnanny2 ’s Asda holiday jumpsuit, I offer you this sainsburys one which I am loving. Perfect petite fit, true to size, great fabric (drapes nicely, lightweight and doesn’t create). I think I will be living in supermarket jumpsuits this summer!
