@WellTidy when I was in asda yesterday I accidentally bought another one in a different pattern.

Marvellouslymadmum · 12/05/2022 17:24

Hi all hope it's ok to join? I'm only 5' tall and finding it incredibly difficult to loose weight! I was always a decent size but over the last 3 years my weight has crept up slowly (I blame my age - now 43 and covid lockdowns!) I'm also a vegetarian and find it actually quite difficult to find healthy stuff I actually like to eat!

WellTidy · 13/05/2022 07:35

Morning @Marvellouslymadmum and welcome

Hello again to everyone else 👋

Which colour/pattern jumpsuit did you go for @Knittingnanny2 and how did yours wash?

I am very sympathetic @SwimmingOnEggshells about your pelvic floor. You’ve clearly really been through the mill. Much love.

Friday weigh-in. I am down to 9st 1.5lb and really happy. I have oval shape pale pink nails with white tips, which I realise might be very dated to someone who has been getting their nails done regularly for years, but are a real novelty for me as the complete opposite!

I am planning an hour’s walk at high gradient on the treadmill this morning with a podcast to keep me going. I may have to switch to Taylor Swift if it’s not enough.

Knittingnanny2 · 13/05/2022 07:44

It washed well. The new one is black and white.
still feeling ill so having blood tests done next week but I still think it’s tooth extraction related. Not weighing yet!

neverenoughchelseboots · 13/05/2022 08:18

That's amazing @WellTidy - you're getting great results.

Welcome @Marvellouslymadmum I have a handful of good veggie recipes, I'll drop links when I remember but veggiedesserts.com/easy-vegan-eggplant-meatballs-aubergine/ these are good and Jamie Oliver's Sicilian chick Pea and butternut squash stew is excellent.

Obviously no weighing for me as I'm still on holiday without scales. I think I'm probably eating the same amount as home so wound be disappointed with a big gain when I get back.

againmaeve · 13/05/2022 08:23

I'm a fan of Jo Whiley on C25K too - week 4 for me but I am spacing out the runs so it is taking longer. Weight steady but I know I'm eating too much at mealtimes - but my decision not to snack seems to be stopping weight going on so I'm staying at around 9 stone 2lb. Hope you fell better soon @Knittingnanny2 and hello @Marvellouslymadmum

Sooverthemill · 13/05/2022 08:55

Welcome @Marvellouslymadmum
so I weighed myself and I'm back to the same as last Friday pre pizza! That's good

have got myself back into my healthy food routine and I'm sure that's what has helped.
last night I made an Anna jones recipe and out of interest out it into MyFitnessPal and if you assume 4 portions it was 336 calories which I can't quite believe but has to be correct! It's veggie or vegan dependent on what cheese you use and it's all done in the oven here? I love paprika and I love fennel so it was delicious and we have 2 portions frozen for another night

SwimmingOnEggshells · 13/05/2022 09:11

@WellTidy amazing amazing amazing! You are killing it at the moment.

@Sooverthemill That really looks delicious. I have one of her books and I haven't made one thing from it! 😳

I am down 1.4lbs today, very pleased but I've been so strict with myself. Still not near the weight I was last summer but it's going in the right direction

@Marvellouslymadmum hello! I'm also 5'0 :)

Sooverthemill · 13/05/2022 10:11

@SwimmingOnEggshells I make her recipes a lot from
the guardian and I bought her one pot one pan book last week. It’s really good

SwimmingOnEggshells · 13/05/2022 11:04

That's the one I have that I haven't made anything out of, really must, I think @neverenoughchelseboots mentioned the sweet potato with tamarind is lovely. And I actually bought tamarind specifically for it!

OP posts:
neverenoughchelseboots · 13/05/2022 13:11

Ah yes, that was it. I was trying to remember which it was Swimming. It was good. I did a lemon and pea shoot pasta from the book that was less successful.

I'm glad the book was mentioned though as I'm lacking in inspiration at the moment so it's a good reminder to get it back out for summer.

I've started to think that my face is looking much slimmer this week - it might be the tan, tiredness and dehydration though 😂

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/05/2022 18:27

@WellTidy thank you, if you even want any nail ideas I'm a nail tech and beautician so may be able to help you!

@neverenoughchelseboots that's brilliant thank you I'll take a look at those!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent set of reliable scales that don't cost the earth please? I need some new ones as mine are old and totally unreliable, I've no idea what I need as they all seem to do different things 🤷🏼‍♀️

neverenoughchelseboots · 13/05/2022 18:41

Yes! I bought a brilliant set, one of the few things I bought and were really happy with. They weren't very expensive but are very consistent have a good app (that's simple to set up and use) and syncs to Fitbit app too. I like the fact I can easily see 3 years progress. I'll dig out the link now...

Marvellouslymadmum · 13/05/2022 18:43

@neverenoughchelseboots excellent thank you! I don't have a Fitbit but I have an Apple Watch which does pretty much the same thing really

neverenoughchelseboots · 13/05/2022 18:45

How was your Anna Jones meal @Sooverthemill ? I remembered earlier that we loved the sweet potato and tamarind recipe but had to have a substantial supper later because we were starving. The low calories sound great but just weren't enough for us. I do eat more than most people on here I think though.

Sooverthemill · 14/05/2022 05:29

@neverenoughchelseboots it was delicious and filling ( for us both, DH had a larger portion than me as usual). I didn't realise they were supposed to be lower calorie, I just go for the deliciousness! And always looking for vegan thjngs I can make for us that we can all enjoy ( DD is vegan). I almost never want anything after dinner though DH inevitably has a bowl of cereal mid evening ( even after a roast)

Cathy31 · 14/05/2022 07:02

I'm back after a horrendous couple of weeks at work. Weighed 50.1kg last time I checked (Monday I think), but have eaten really badly this week, and haven't been able to exercise as much as normal (which isn't much anyway...). I'm going to leave it a few days before I weigh myself again, otherwise I'll get disheartened. Plan today...
B: ?
L: veg soup and rice
D: ?
Ugh, I find meal planning at weekends hard anyway, as DH will often decide spontaneously to cook something nice. And I are soon much muesli and yoghurt last night before bed, I'm still not hungry for breakfast, which I hate.

I want to wear a bikini on holiday in 3 months time. Only worn one once before in my life, on honeymoon. I'll be with my very slim, beautiful (and lovely) friends and my family on this holiday, would love to not look like a mumsy frump with them. So I'm upping my exercise as well as trying to lose about 3kg:

Sunday: 1hour ballet class, 1 hour yoga
Monday: rest
Tues: 1 hr Pilates class, 1hr yoga class
Wed: rest
Thur: 1 hr yoga
Fri: rest
Sat: rest, or a cycle with family

I'll walk to and from all the classes, about 50mins in total each time. It still doesn't feel like much - no aerobic exercise as I hate running (big boobs), and love swimming but can't find the time.

Good luck today everyone. And can I second Anna Jones for amazing veggie food. Her carrot dhal is perfect if you need a hug in a meal.

Knittingnanny2 · 14/05/2022 15:31

And now I’ve tested positive for covid again! 12 days before I need to do my test to go to USA

neverenoughchelseboots · 14/05/2022 18:00

Cripes Knittingnanny- again! Hope you're not bad with it. It's not even been that long since last time.

Has mr Knittingnanny got it too? If not then your timing is worrying. I'm so sorry, you must be fretting. x

purplegirl13 · 14/05/2022 18:38

Lots of posts to catch up on...

@Knittingnanny2 oh no!

Lots of socialising happening on my end, and alcohol....which then tempts me into takeaways on the way home.

On my way out now, hoping to be home at a reasonable hour having only consumed a few prosecco's. Let's see....

Only did one C25K last Sunday, going out again tomorrow. Did Pilates yesterday.

Knittingnanny2 · 14/05/2022 18:45

Yes both of us, he developed a cold yesterday and my tooth sinus saga continued so we both did tests. I can’t smell or taste anything still and feel headachy he’s got more like flu symptoms. I had blood tests and a gp appt booked for next week to try and get to the bottom of the sinus issue, plus an eye test, grandchild care on Wednesday, Oti Mabusi dance show on Sunday which is mr knittingnanny s belated birthday treat. And so on
i don’t have time for covid!
plus I’ve only booked basic economy to NY which doesn’t allow for altering flights

againmaeve · 14/05/2022 21:13

Oh no @Knittingnanny2 - doesn't seem that long ago that you had covid before. Watching Eurovision with Prosecco and crisps - good fun but not diet friendly.

Knittingnanny2 · 15/05/2022 14:29

I’m hoping I’ve had it for a few days already as I’m now on a count down for usa
my son in NY thinks I’d do anything to avoid going to a football tournament..... grandson very excited that I will be there for one of those endless football tournaments that usually take place in the rain. Where you cheer on the team for 5 mins each way and then wait an hour for the next game....
I abdicated my attendance in the mid 90’s after footballing child no 3 got to that phase in life. Abdicated to the former Mrknittingnanny! Who thinks it’s hilarious that I’m travelling all the way to NY 30 years later to do it again!

Knittingnanny2 · 15/05/2022 14:30

we are in the car with tea and chunky kit kates. Not sure why though as I can’t even taste the chocolate!
