Happy birthday to your DH @Sooverthemill, it's been years since I had venison steaks, delicious!

@WellTidy and you're certainly in the zone too: yoga + spin + c25k run + uphill walk home = an enormous amount of exercise!

OP posts:
WellTidy · 10/05/2022 12:13

I did run three. I found it a little easier but I am absolutely ready to finish the 60 second runs when it gets to doing them the 6th to 8th times. And now that I’m home I can barely walk up the stairs. Rest day tomorrow, thank god. DH and I are out for a freebie cream tea in John Lewis. It came through on the app and cream teas are yet another of my weaknesses.

Pommelegible · 10/05/2022 12:20

Squats kill my knees @SwimmingOnEggshells but lunges aren’t so bad. One of the exercise videos I’ve been doing incorporates curtsy lunges which I can really feel on the side of my bum so hopefully they’ll help combat the flat bum! Legs are less sore today which is good as by yesterday evening as I was wincing as I tentatively lowered myself onto the sofa I was starting to think exercising was just not worth the pain!

I’m just posting to keep myself busy and accountable as the temptation to go and raid the chocolate is huge right now

purplegirl13 · 10/05/2022 12:23

I ended up eating pasta for dinner. I've been so busy with work and going in to the office, pasta has just become the easy option. I need to work on better options.

@SwimmingOnEggshells well done, I am going to run tomorrow. I'd forgotten about lunges and squats! Must add them in.

@busybeeee222 I'm a 34FF and bravissimo is my go-to, I like the 'envy' bra. You've done well to buy new clothes, I am buying larger sizes via ebay/vinted as I refuse to pay full price for clothes I think I won't wear long (!) The reality means I am wearing clothes I don't love, and aren't as flattering as they would be if I actually went to the shops.

@Sooverthemill phew indeed. Enjoy your dinner!

B - nothing as got stuck in meetings
L - freezer food - roast potatoes, veggie sausages, peas and gravy. I'm going to need a nap afterwards
D - Waitrose soup from freezer

Pommelegible · 10/05/2022 12:24

Hope your dh has a great birthday @Sooverthemill, there’s always something to knock us off track though isn’t there?

@WellTidy i think you’re going to have to change your user name to WellFit soon! Putting me to shame!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/05/2022 14:00

@Pommelegible ha! yes she'll need to name change

Wellfit!! 😂Certainly not looking or feeling in any way fit after this morning. I’ve had to gym upstairs three time since I got home at midday and I’ve nearly cried each time. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to not exercising tomorrow.

But the upside is that I am down to 9st 2lb and I’m now wondering whether my goal from the start of the year, when I was 10st 5lb, which was to be under 9 stone for our holiday at the end of May, is a real possibility. I thought it might be when I started but withered a massive difference between something being a pipe dream and actually making it happen. We will see.

I have tried on masses of summer clothes and I’m surprised as to how many of them fit and still suit me. I have three full black bags for the charity shop, and another for the recycling, and I’m about halfway through. I clearly have been keeping maybe 20 times as many clothes as I actually need. Shameful.

WellTidy · 10/05/2022 17:52

I’ve had to go upstairs, that should have said. Clearly I’ve been typing gym too frequently!!

thislittlebird · 10/05/2022 19:25

Just checking in! Did day 6 of the 30 Day Shred today. I started last Tuesday so only skipped two days and on one of those I walked 7k. Haven’t lost any weight I bet, but I always seem to lose and gain slowly. Not sure whether to measure or weigh in tomorrow, since it’s now been a week? Maybe I’ll give it a few more days.

Got myself a lovely seafolly one shoulder bikini top though, very excited for the holiday!

busybeeee222 · 10/05/2022 21:34

@purplegirl13 and @againmaeve I will try Bravissimo thank you 😀I just think a well fitting but also comfortable bra is so important.

Yes clothes that fit are making me feel much better although I would love to be back in my smaller clothes.

Wow it seems like everyone is so busy with exercise, how do you all fit it in? I love exercise but when I am busy with work I am terrible at trying to fit it in. I hate running, I do like weight training but mostly I love classes like yoga and other fun classes. But as my work changes alot I find it difficult to commit to a set class on a set day etc.

@thislittlebird have you done the 30 day shred before? I did it years ago for 15 days straight and I think i lost an inch off my waist and 2 off my hips which I was happy with. I have tried it a few times but always quit at level 2 as level 3 is hard 😂

Neversaygoodbye · 11/05/2022 07:14

Just checking in from a few weeks ago. I finally got my head in the game after easter and have been sticking to 16:8 and 1200 calories for the last few weeks, most importantly for me also over the weekends! I've lost 4lb in 3 weeks and am feeling extremely positive about losing weight for the first time in years. I'm also trying to reduce my carbs and have started C25K after 3 years of no running due to hip issues. I've decided to cut back slightly on the indoor bike in favour of the running for now as I just can't fit it all in. Basically I'm throwing everything at it and fingers crossed it seems to actually be working Smile

I posted in the wrong thread! Whoops

. @SwimmingOnEggshells venison is our go to treat thing. We used to live in a village where the landowner's deer ended up in the local butcher. It's really delicious and better than beef ( less fatty). I just fried the steaks in a teaspoon of olive oil and added salt and pepper. With salad and frites it was a good meal. Even with the Babka I 'only' had 1600 calories ( I don't usually count but wanted to see what that day did to me). So I'm reasonably happy I'm still on track.

Pommelegible · 11/05/2022 10:11

@busybeeee222 i am having real bra issues recently, mainly due to armpit fat. I’ve read the tips to scoop it into your bra but that doesn’t seem to work. Bigger cups gape at the front, smaller cups don’t cover nipples. Bigger band size is too loose, smaller band size is uncomfortable and leads to unattractive squidge over the top and underneath the band. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You've also reminded me that when I did 30 day shred years ago I only did level one for about six weeks straight because level two required too much coordination and I couldn’t grasp half the moves 🤣. Still, it did work.

@Sooverthemill thays an impressively low calorie count for a celebratory day!

Sooverthemill · 11/05/2022 10:32

@Pommelegible venison is 344 calories for 225 grams which is around the size of steak I now get from waitrose. My breakfast is always 234 calories ( I've now discovered) and my lunch yesterday was 342 ( butternut squash soup, hard boiled egg, one slice bead scraping of lactose free cream cheese). The dinner was about 950 calories including frites! I try to be accurate if I'm recording it as I know portion sizes are my downfall. But I don't record daily as DD has disordered eating and I hate to obsess about food

SwimmingOnEggshells · 11/05/2022 10:57

@Sooverthemill Sounds really tasty and I agree, that's very low calories for a birthday dinner.

@busybeeee222 I'm really not doing that much exercise, it's only three short runs a week, but with all my talk I can understand how it might seem like more! On Tuesday I dropped kids to school, headed straight to the gym, did my run, some lunges and squats in the cooldown and straight home for a shower. I was at my desk at 10.30 and worked through lunch. I'm lucky that I have a lot of flexibility with my job. I'll do the same on Thursday and then I'll do another run on Sunday. Don't worry if you can't exercise, I've lost the most amount of weight when I was just dieting and not exercising :) I find exercise is great for my mental health more than anything really.

for those doing c25k, anyone else's app tell you to go for a run two days in a row?? I thought you were supposed to have rest days. I'm ignoring the alerts anyway and will stick to my plan. My knee was feeling a bit sore yesterday and I put the TENS on my thighs for most of the Eurovision semi-final and the knee pain was completely gone by the end of it. Amazing, saving me a fortune in physio bills! I'm pretty certain that my back and knee flare ups are always because of tight muscles and the TENS seems to work out all the tension which is brilliant.

Food yesterday wasn't amazing, pita x 2 for lunch with the rest of my homemade hummus, dinner was chicken curry and I made it with butter and cream so no doubt highly calorific. No snacks or chocolate so hopefully I did ok ...

@WellTidy my Boden flutter sleeve dress arrived, it's so nice! I agree it's very flattering and I think I can wear it to work too with a jacket and tights in the winter. Another bonus.

Food plan for today is:
Lunch: thai salad made with chinese cabbage
Dinner: larb moo and more salad

Pommelegible · 11/05/2022 11:35

@Sooverthemill My eldest has anorexia so I also have to model ‘normal’ eating whilst secretly trying to lose a bit of weight myself. It’s hard because she really notices if I give her more than I give myself or if I don’t have pudding etc plus she tries to get away with eating very little so I make our dinners quite calorific to make every mouthful count!

Sooverthemill · 11/05/2022 14:05

@Pommelegible I'm sorry to hear that. my DD has very severe ME and eating and swallowing are really hard for her as well as hypersensitivity to taste and smell ( we also have a limited range of food we can cook or eat as she will vomit if for example I cook mushrooms, we can't have fish in the house). She was tube fed for a long time. Until she was 18 I had to record every ml of liquid in and out and food in and out and send the food diary to an NHS dietitian. She was weighed weekly in her wheelchair. I do not think it helped anybody one jot. She's now vegan and eats what she can when she can but I cannot bear to think so much about food. She hasn't been weighed since 2018. She's still totally bed bound so I am her carer 24/7.

Pommelegible · 12/05/2022 07:13

Oh so sorry @Sooverthemill that's a lot. Must be very hard to see your child suffer so much. As for the not wanting to think about food I totally understand that-I only had to do the food diary for a year or so with dd and that was more than enough. It totally killed any desire to meal plan, shop or cook.

In other news I did a sneaky mid week weigh and I’m 300g down (yes I know that’s probably only a drink but still, made me feel like my efforts aren’t for nothing!)

WellTidy · 12/05/2022 10:24

Spin and week two run one of c25k done. Having walked to the gym, I now need to walk back, so I’m having a coffee and some Jaffa cakes to gee me up a bit. This exercise lark is so tiring! I have a day of errands planned, but I’m getting my nails done for the second time in my life (the first was before my wedding day) later so I’m really looking forward to that. Just a manicure and polish, but it will be a big improvement.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 12/05/2022 11:38

@Sooverthemill and @Pommelegible hugs to you both Flowers

@WellTidy how did you find the run today? I was very surprised to see there's a 2 minute break between the 1.5 minute runs, I wasn't expecting that.

Overall I didn't find it too bad, but my stupid bladder caused me trouble and I leaked, wah! I normally wear a small pad but forgot today. I got off the treadmill halfway and went to the toilet and it was just in the gusset so I decided to continue on rather than give up. The gym was very quiet anyway so I doubt anyone saw. I had a very bad forceps birth with my first which is causing all of this. I'll probably need an operation at some point in the future but I'm holding off as long as possible...

Foodwise I did well yesterday:
Skimmed milk cappuccino x 2
Legendary mumsnet massive salad for lunch
Rice with thai pork mince (larb moo) and more salad more dinner

Today it will be:
Cappucino
Protein shake
Salad
And probably kedgeree but I don't know if I fancy that

How many weeks to your holiday now @WellTidy ? enjoy the pampering time!

WellTidy · 12/05/2022 11:57

@SwimmingOnEggshells I was surprised that I found it ok. I started off the runs element at 8.0km/hour and worked up to 10km/hour. There were only five runs, weren’t there, I think that helped. And I have put together a playlist which I’m enjoying listening to. I switched from Sarah Millican to Denise Lewis and I’ve finally settled on Jo Whiley who so am loving, she really helps me along.

Sorry to hear about your bladder. I really sympathise. I thought I’d escaped any pelvic floor issues after having my two until I started c25k last week. And then I realised that I hadn’t done anything that requires impact in 14+ years, and so it was just that I was blissfully unaware. I’m not leaking, but I am really holding in, in a way that I suspect I shouldn’t have to. Have you ever had physio for it? A friend did and she really rated it. She had it privately, and I think it was maybe a handful of appointments. I will ask her. It was extremely up close and personal from what I remember her saying about it.

I am doing an hour’s hill walk on the treadmill tomorrow as my undercarriage isn’t up to Spin two days in a row, even with the padded leggings.

WellTidy · 12/05/2022 12:05

Holiday is in just over two weeks! I am contemplating a bikini for the first time in maybe 17 years, which pre-dates being pregnant with my eldest. I don’t know if I am brave enough yet, and may well chicken out. But even to be contemplating it is massive for me. So many of my summer clothes (in no way all, but enough) now fit, I won’t have to buy anything more to go. And being able to fit into my old clothes and not having to keep spending money on new stuff every season was my only motivation to losing weight. The Asda jumpsuit is top of my packing list, I am still really chuffed with it!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 12/05/2022 12:29

You're very kind @WellTidy I had intense physio for 6 months post birth and I even used a pelvic floor tens machine at the time which was on loan from the hospital. And yes it was very up close and personal! I'm not very good with my pelvic floor exercises if I'm honest, when I did the physio I was using the Squeezy app 4-5 times a day which really helped. Must download it again actually.

If you're thinking of a bikini the high waisted ones are nice, I recently bought two - they're very comfortable and seem to keep everything in!

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 12/05/2022 15:48

@busybeeee222 I haven’t done it in years and can’t really remember how hard the other levels are! I’m thinking of attempting each level for 9 days which should take me to the holiday.

I did 30 day shred and couch to 5k run (week 2) today since the weather was nice.

@Pommelegible that may be what I end up doing if the other levels are tricky! I am not a coordinated person at all.
