I've just made some carrot and coriander soup... not quite as exciting as those pizzas....

WellTidy · 07/05/2022 17:51

Run two week one of c25k done. It was just as hard for me as it was on Thursday, and I was really disgruntled that I had to break my ‘weekend off exercising’ self-imposed rule to be able to accommodate it 😀

Pommelegible · 08/05/2022 09:34

Oh my goodness it’s embarrassing how unfit I am! Thighs and glutes were a little bit achy after yesterday, today I’ve done another 10 minute full body cardio and another 10 minute yoga session and I thought my legs were going to give out from under me going down the stairs afterwards 😳. Then I could barely get up the ladder trying to change the bunk beds.

Ten minutes sounds pathetic but I know if I try to commit to doing any more than that then I just won’t do it so it’s better to start with low expectations for me.

Ive also realised I belong on secret eaters. Pour the dc some Cheerios, eat a few out of the bowl. Make them a cheese sandwich, eat a bit of cheese. Cooking dinner, munch on a few bits of carrot…

purplegirl13 · 08/05/2022 09:38

@WellTidy you are so busy on the exercise front!
@Knittingnanny2 glad you are feeling slightly better
@SwimmingOnEggshells yes, 3 runs a week but I won't stress if I can only make 2 as long as I keep on with it - I've never managed to get past 3 weeks of C25K. I am dragging myself out later this morning as I didn't want to let you down 😉
@Pommelegible well done on taking those photos, I'm not yet brave enough!

The sun is shining over here, hope it's nice where you are! I am off out to do my first C25K run, I need to get it over with as I'm building it up in my mind as a very big deal.

B - a couple of crumpets
L/D - I am out this afternoon for a bottomless brunch - lots of dim sum and there will be cocktails 🍹

purplegirl13 · 08/05/2022 12:48

I did it! Kind of. I thought I would die after 'run 3', struggled with 4 and 5 and then walked the rest of the time as I was feeling a bit lightheaded. Better than nothing

WellTidy · 08/05/2022 14:11

Well done @purplegirl13. Better to have done it like that than not at all. You did really well to keep going. I have pencilled in Tuesday for my week one run three and I am doing a spin class and a walk tomorrow.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 08/05/2022 15:07

Me too @purplegirl13! High five 🙌 definitely a tiny bit easier today and feeling good about myself! My hamstring was starting to give out at the end but I don't think it's anything too serious, I'll get the tens machine out again tonight.

Food hasn't been amazing over the weekend but I'm hoping I haven't done too much damage...

It's also glorious here, currently sunning myself in my mother's back garden ☀️ happy Sunday everyone!

Well done on C25K runners! I've been very immobile since skiing as I came back injured and it's just starting to ease up. It does return on a longer walk but hoping to do C25K on my lunch break in a few weeks when definitely better.

I'm in Italy now so going to finally get on the pizzas.

I originally said my target was 9st 7 for the holiday and then bumped it to 9st when progress was good in January. Well I made it 9 4.6, so pleased to drop a couple of pounds in the last fortnight after a long plateau.

I think you'll be glad you did the photos Pomme. It's hard to see the gradual process week by week (and month to month on the pictures - you really do need a few to build up). But it kept me going that the months with the lowest drop on the scales were the most visible difference.

Sooverthemill · 09/05/2022 08:18

Depressingly my weight is still higher than ever. I did well last week but the weekend wrecked it. Who knew pizzas contained calories?

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/05/2022 09:48

Have a lovely holiday @neverenoughchelseboots , that's great that you got so slow before your holiday, definitely a nice boost!

OP posts:
WellTidy · 09/05/2022 10:15

Well done @neverenoughchelseboots to get to this low before your holiday. Have a wonderful time.

And @Sooverthemill I’m sure the pizzas were delicious and we all deserve delicious things.

Gorgeous weather here too @SwimmingOnEggshells. I am going to dig out my size 12 t-shirts and summer trousers from the attic and try on.

I’ve done 6km walking at high gradient at the gym this morning and burnt more calories in a quicker time than previously, so I’m happy. Still 9st 3lb which I’m delighted by as I generally have a post weekend gain. Dentist later. I am preparing for bad news as I have multiple twinges which are getting worse so I can’t ignore them for any longer.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/05/2022 10:46

I'd say size 12 will be big on you now @WellTidy I'm going to have to the same with my summer clothes I need to figure out exactly what fits me and what doesn't.

Suffering from post-weekend weight gain unfortunately...! up a lb.

Pommelegible · 09/05/2022 12:34

Very proud of myself this morning having got up and done my exercise at 6.30. Still think 10 mins is a bit pathetic but the amount my legs are aching it must be doing something 😆

Tonight’s dinner is hugely calorific (aubergine parmigiana) so need to be a bit careful through the rest of the day. Might make one corner a bit less cheesy and serve myself that bit!

Pommelegible · 09/05/2022 12:39

Hope you have a wonderful holiday @neverenoughchelseboots . Enjoy the pizza!

Good luck at the dentist @WellTidy

I tried on some of my bikinis at the weekend @SwimmingOnEggshells @WellTidy It left me feeling thoroughly depressed 😭

jeffersonsam · 09/05/2022 13:00

WellTidy · 14/03/2022 19:44

I am yo-yo-ing between 9st 7.5lb and 9st 6.75lb every day and have been for a week. Walked for five or so miles today after a weekend of moving very little, but then I did the work with crème eggs (cannot admit to how many). I’m my own worst enemy.

@Morningmaeve I’m impressed with the running, I am hoping to start c25k at some point this summer

@neverenoughchelseboots I wonder the same about natural weight but you could just be due another decent drop. Keep the faith!

Are you travelling tomorrow @Knittingnanny2? Enjoy the skiing (in a few days’ time?) @neverenoughchelseboots too

I agree your comment...Early morning walking for five or more miles will surely providing good results . This will helps to achieve weight loss and also keeps our body strong.

purplegirl13 · 09/05/2022 13:06

Hello Ladies, it's a new week and a fresh start!

@neverenoughchelseboots ooh Italy, how lovely - I hope there will be wine to accompany the wine. Well done on getting down to 9st4.6! Can't have been easy, especially with your biscuit habit.
@Sooverthemill stop spreading lies, there are absolutely no calories in pizza 😉
@WellTidy good luck at the dentist, I've also been putting off going to the dentist and I'm ignoring my pain which isn't sensible.
@Pommelegible 10mins is do-able so don't beat yourself up

Today:
B - cappucinno
L - aubergine and red pepper pate with a small baguette (although 'small' just means not a massive french stick), and olives.
D - will defrost some lentil soup from the freezer

purplegirl13 · 09/05/2022 18:03

I ate a billion calories worth of nuts. At least there's no chance of me eating dinner after my 'snack'

SwimmingOnEggshells · 09/05/2022 21:52

@purplegirl13 nuts are better than crisps! They're nutritious and you're vegetarian so they're an important part of your diet 🥜 🌰

I've no idea what my calorie intake was today. I ate a load of homemade hummus with 6 ryvita, then tried to make pita breads (no idea why) and had a roasted tomato, olive tapenade-ey type sauce with spaghetti for dinner. Very carby day.

C25k run tomorrow and my legs aren't tight at all from the last session. When are you planning to do your next runs @purplegirl13 and @WellTidy ?

OP posts:
WellTidy · 09/05/2022 22:11

Nuts are really good for you but I think they need to come with a warning. It is so easy to eat lots and lots as they’re so more-ish. I love them. Very understandable @purplegirl13

@SwimmingOnEggshells i am doing run three tomorrow, I think. But I’m not sure. I’m doing yoga and spin tomorrow morning, and that may be enough for me. Hope yours goes well!

busybeeee222 · 09/05/2022 23:00

@WellTidy thank you I will check out the summer dress thread. I bought a few bits of clothes over the weekend in a bigger size and I feel better. There is nothing worse than trying to squeeze into size 10 when I am now a size 12.

I also got a new bra which fits :) just wondering where do you all buy bras which are comfortable? If you have a bigger chest?

againmaeve · 10/05/2022 07:46

I bought some new bras from Bravissimo @busybeeee222 after failing to find anything that worked in M&S, which had been my go-to for bras for years. I really like their Millie style - quite expensive but fits me well and looks pretty. I'm a 34F in it.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 10/05/2022 10:26

Wearing clothes that fit are more slimming than squeezing into something that doesn't @busybeeee222, I've been in denial so many times and bought my old sizes and they always look dreadful. Enjoy your new clothes!

Did run number 3! Was still hard, and I felt quite sluggish for the first half but picked up energy in the last few minutes. I even did an extra minute of running and during the cool-down period I did lots of lunges and squats. I did lunges as well last week and I suspect it was them that hurt my thighs so much. Hopefully I won't hurt as much this time. I heard somewhere that if there's one exercise you do as you get older, it's to do lunges and squats. I'm definitely starting to get middle-aged-flat-bum which I would also like to undo!!

Lunch today will be more hummus and pita bread, tomatoes and a banana.
Dinner is chicken curry.

Sooverthemill · 10/05/2022 10:38

Weighed myself today ( Tuesday is my normal weighing day) and at least a whole pound has gone! Phew.
its DHs birthday today which is a real pita as regards eating. We are gout for dinner on Saturday which will be ice but for tonight I did a waitrose order and we have venison steaks and home made oven chips, plus salad. A teeny bottle of Prosecco and cashews/ olives to nibble. I will be restrained. DD has with my help ( it's hard cooking in bed) made a chocolate Babka for his present so I will have to have a small piece.

WellTidy · 10/05/2022 10:48

Well done @Sooverthemill -and a happy birthday to your DH!

well done in the run @SwimmingOnEggshells. You are in the zone! I am in the cafe at the gym and have succumbed to four Jaffa cakes. I need to muster the energy to do run three this morning. I’ve done the beginners yoga class again (still absolutely loving it, we’ve done some different things at every class so far, todays new thing was tiger pose which I can only do on one side!) and I did 45 minutes of spin. Wouldn’t normally do anything at all after that, but I have to fit in this run as I can’t do it tomorrow, and then I will need to walk home (30 minutes uphill) or I will get stuck here all day.

WellTidy · 10/05/2022 10:50

Can’t help on the bra front @busybeeee222 unfortunately as I’m a 32C (despite wearing a 36A as I hate the constricted feeling) so I buy from M&S.

I have clothes in my wardrobe from a size 14 (and some 16s which came up small) down to a 10. You’ll look better and feel better in things that fit.
