Hi everyone, can I join, v late on in the thread!? I'm a shorty, about 5'2 or 3, and want to get back down to the weight I think I look best at - about 47kg. My weight this morning was 50.6kg so not that far to go, but the last half stone is so hard! Would love to shift it before a big reunion of friends in August. I know that's ages, but I seem to have set at 50kg since having my kids, and it just doesn't sit well on me. Afternoon snacking is my downfall. I'm here for the accountability 🙂

WellTidy · 21/04/2022 21:34

Hello all. I’ve not worked out how to use the new site yet - I thought there were no posts on this thread, as when I flipped it, the first post was at the top, and I didn’t think to scroll down further. I’ve since worked it out!

I am 9st 4.5lb still. I’ve been to the gym three times this week (doing cardio), which is a lifetime first. Coupled with some walking, but not as much as I was doing previously. Sometimes life just takes over!

I was this weight last May, but I’ve noticed that I have a lot more lumps and bumps than I did then, especially on my arms and back. I really need to lose more of the weight but also to tone up what is left.

Wish me luck for tomorrow - I’m doing a spin class and not only will it be my first ever class, it will be my first time on a bike for 15 years. I will be staying at the back and taking it easy for the first class!

Cathy31 · 22/04/2022 07:40

50.8kg this morning, or 7st13lb. Plan today is muesli and apple, then lentil soup, then it depends what DH wants. Pasta with lots of veggies, or Thai salad and rice.... I ate too much chocolate yesterday which I'm blaming for slight gain from yesterday. No chocolate today, and hopefully I'll be back on track. Good luck everyone!

againmaeve · 22/04/2022 08:11

Hello all - it's me morningmaeve I had a nightmare with new site and had to re register. Lost all the threads I was watching which is very annoying. Been very busy and that continues until after weekend when I'll be back with new focus to go with my new username!

neverenoughchelseboots · 22/04/2022 09:29

I had a few issues with the new site too but seem to be ironed out now.

No updates from me really so just a general hello 👋 and welcome @Cathy31

WellTidy · 22/04/2022 09:36

Welcome @Cathy31

I am somehow up to 9st 5.75lb this morning despite the gym activity and pretty stable eating. Maybe the Easter eggs from last weekend are catching up with me!

Found the spin class really hard this morning, despite not increasing the intensity from 1 at any stage, and keeping at about 55-65RPM throughout. Which was low compared to everything going on around me. But it’s the first time I’ve been on a bike for 15 years, so it’s a bonus. My bum hurt like mad at the start, but by the end everything else was hurting just as much so I forgot about it!

Cathy31 · 23/04/2022 06:36

51.2 this morning 😕UUgh, but i didn't stick to the rules yesterday - snacked in the afternoon - on my kids leftovers 🙄and had a piece of chocolate after dinner. I enjoyed the chocolate but the leftover fishfingers...??? I used to be so careful with what I ate. Today, there's a croissant for breakfast, which I've been looking forward to all week. I'll have soup and bread for lunch, and a burrito bowl for dinner. We're meeting friends in the park this afternoon, being out of the house should help with afternoon snacking. Might print out some unflattering photos from our last holiday to keep me motivated. Good luck today everyone!

WellTidy · 24/04/2022 23:30

We’ve been away for a couple of days, which has involved eating out, hotel breakfasts etc. I think I’ve been fairly disciplined, considering, but let’s see whether the scales agree with me tomorrow morning!

A good option for me when eating out in Italian restaurants (as that is what Ds2 enjoys) seemed to be to choose a thin crust pizza and share it with him. Plenty for each of us, and as I enjoy the margarita, my half was usually around 600cals. Which left room for a cocktail!

More gym going tomorrow, but I’m waiting until my padded leggings arrive before I do another spin class. My undercarriage is still really delicate after Friday’s class!! I’m also having lunch with a friend which will mean no breakfast and a very small dinner.

Cathy31 · 25/04/2022 06:07

50.8 kg today. I've planned all my meals for the week, and batch cooked lunch and dinner, and booked into three yoga classes, so there's no excuses! I'd love to be below 50 a week from now...

Sooverthemill · 25/04/2022 09:06

After a shit week and tricky weekend I foolishly weighed myself. I'm guessing not eating anything at all for the next two weeks would do it!
in other news very elderly dog has lost 7.4 kg according to vet on Friday so maybe he has passed it all in to me?

so this week will be a very thoughtful sensible week I guess in an effort to get it under control or none of my clothes will fit

WellTidy · 25/04/2022 11:54

It will come off @Sooverthemill, and I really hope you’re dog isn’t too poorly.

@Cathy31 great planning, I think that is the key, especially when time is short.

I’ve done an hour at gradient on the treadmill this morning so I really feel that I deserve my lunch. Likely to be boozy, so will need to choose well!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 25/04/2022 13:59

Hi everyone, I disappeared due to lack of progress and gave up completely as it was getting me down. Feeling a bit more optimistic today so I'm going to try to eat well, drink little or certainly less and I'm going to join a new gym on Wednesday. Two months to my holiday!

Will catch up on everyone's posts later ❤

@WellTidy I still haven't caught up on the last few weeks, but gym going is a new occurrence for you? I hope you've enjoyed today's lunch.

@againmaeve hello! I am in desperate need of a c25k buddy ;)

@Knittingnanny2 @neverenoughchelseboots hello to you both

@SwimmingOnEggshells I have only just come back on to the thread, I have been failing miserably but seem to have found some renewed focus over the last few days

I don't think I've mentioned it but I am having 121 pilates lessons weekly, I have had 3 sessions so far with the aim of attending group classes in a few weeks time. I've also enquired about weekly swimming lessons (I'm not a confident swimmer) and I am aiming to restart c25k this week.

I have vacuum packed away all my clothes that don't fit and it is eye-opening! My weight has also gone up to 10st8/9 soI need to get this in check asap

Today:
B - greek yoghurt, honey, flaked almonds
L - salad with veggie kebab pieces
D - soup, with a boiled egg

purplegirl13 · 25/04/2022 14:52

@Sooverthemill I hope your dog feels better soon

WellTidy · 25/04/2022 15:23

Hello all

Lovely to see you back!

I weighed in at 9st 5lb this morning, which is a gain of 1lb in the week that I have been going to the gym. Lord above. The gym going is very new to me, and I am not using it anywhere near to its potential. But it is a new start and I think it will keep me more focussed. Only for weeks to my holiday and I would absolutely love to be under 9st to go. Not that I think I will, but I’d like to give it my best shot. She says, having had a fish finger sandwich and sweet potato fries and two cocktails for lunch.

I did manage to do the extra hour of walking on top of the hour in the treadmill, so there is a positive in there.

@SwimmingOnEggshells are you doing classes at your new gym? Please tell me what you rate. I now have the padded cycling leggings so will give the group cycle thing another go.

@purplegirl13 are you enjoying Pilates? I am meaning to give that a go too. How different is it to yoga, and is it harder? I am very out of shape.

purplegirl13 · 25/04/2022 17:20

@WellTidy I've only done a couple of yoga classes so don't have much to compare to, but I do seem to prefer pilates. I am also VERY unfit, walking being the only 'exercise' I do. My pilates instructor teaches group classes locally so I am building up to attending those.

I am very excited to start a 12 week course of swimming lessons this week, I love being in the water but am lacking confidence and am not very good at putting all the components of arm/leg strokes together with the breathing!

purplegirl13 · 25/04/2022 17:22

@WellTidy sorry, I forgot to say I am really enjoying the pilates and love the attention with a 121 lesson but not sure I can afford to keep at it long-term and will eventually aim to do 2 group classes a week

WellTidy · 25/04/2022 18:44

That’s interesting, thanks @purplegirl13. I have never done yoga or Pilates but I really fancy trying. I am doing an hour introduction to yoga group class tomorrow and a 45 minute mat Pilates class on Wednesday. No idea what to expect from either, but I’m hoping they’ll be easier than the group cycle last Friday 😂

Neversaygoodbye · 25/04/2022 22:04

Having survived Easter with my usual 2lb up and 2lb down, I'm now very focused on calorie counting, 16:8 and trying to be more mindful of what type of food I'm using my calories on. Although part of me is telling myself maybe this is my "set point" I am not comfortable at this weight.

@purplegirl13 I joined an intermediate swimming class a few years ago and it's made a massive difference to my swimming technique. I hope you enjoy the lessons.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/04/2022 09:49

@WellTidy when I was in my other gym all I did was spin classes, I love the buzz of the music, great adrenaline rush! But your poor bum! I promise it will be better very soon. I never wear padded leggings and if I haven't been in a while I find it takes about 3 classes to be back to normal. Your bum toughens up 😆

I'm definitely going to do more spinning and I'd like to do add in some weights but life is so busy at the moment that even getting to spinning will be a push.

@purplegirl13 I read your message about pilates as if you were doing 121 (one-hundred and twenty-one) classes per week!

After avoiding the scales for a month, I braved them this morning and I'm at 8 stone 13. Summer holiday clothes arriving in the post today and I hope they fit me ...

Have a lovely day everyone!

My shorts arrived! out of 8 pairs, ONE fit! But rather than being too small, they were actually too big. Really bad vanity sizing, the small was hanging off me.

I had a look at the size of the skirt I've on today and it's a medium from H&M and I also tried on a silk blouse I have a long time this morning and it didn't fit me - that was a size 8. So I'm definitely a 10/medium...Anyway not a big deal as I'll drive by the shop they came from on my way to work in a little while.

Having a late realisation that swimming lessons mean swimming costume!! I've got one that will do as a last resort for my first lesson on Thursday, but still more 'booby' than I would like. At least it's not as indecent as the other 2 I've tried. They go nowhere to churning my now 34gg boobs!

WellTidy · 26/04/2022 20:03

I must carry my weight really badly - there is no way a size 10 would come anywhere near me @SwimmingOnEggshells, so I hope you find some new summer things for your holiday that fit and that you like. I am a size 12 in a Boden petite skirt, but a 12-14 depending on the style in M&S, and a 14 petite UK size trousers in Gap. I definitely carry a lot of weight around my middle. The swimming costumes I have that fit are all size 14 (I really rate George at Asda @purplegirl13 if you have one locally, and even online as they deliver quickly, they’re good at holding my tummy in. I have non-existent boobs though so can’t help on that front!).

Matching my lowest weight of the year at 9st 4.25lb this morning, after a lot of walking yesterday. Did an extremely gently yoga class this morning, which I really enjoyed and will go to again, and then 30 minutes walk at high gradient, and then 30 minutes of more gentle walking.

All this exercise is making me knackered in the evenings. Once I’ve made dinner and cleared up, I’m good for nothing.

Im booked back into group cycle on Friday and I really hope the cycling leggings do their job as I will have to leave otherwise. It wasn’t so much my bum but my undercarriage 😯that was bruised. I am traumatised by the whole thing 😂

purplegirl13 · 26/04/2022 20:29

@welltidy I'm pleased you liked yoga. I thought you might. I'm interested in how you find pilates tomorrow. A large part of enjoyment comes from having a good instructor who takes the time to look out for you and help adjust if you don't quite understand or do the pose incorrectly.

I didn't realise you hadn't done yoga before when I messaged yesterday. A lot of people will say there's not much difference between yoga and pilates but I definitely prefer Pilates. I feel it's slower if that makes sense? Small movements you think will be easy, but end up really working the muscles and the focus is on core strength and lengthening/ stability whereas yoga feels like it's more about flexibility and breathing/ meditative. My opinion based on limited yoga classes and more experience following a Pilates DVD many years ago.

Will take a look at George for swimsuits. Thanks for the recc.
