WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Swim done this morning, 30 laps in 30 minutes! I'm glad I've maintained that at least but certainly need to work on it. Some other swimmers are lightening fast!

Cheeky weigh in reads 14.1 again, that's fine, I can feel my body changing again, my belly is more sunken when I wake up so that's how I know good things are happening!

Slept really well last night, fell asleep in the sofa at 9pm and got up to go to bed and actually went back to sleep til 5am!! Practically skipped off to swimming!! It's amazing the difference of a good nights sleep makes. All the exercises must be making a difference.

Right off to do the school run and then home to complete a list of chores as long as my arm!!

Toodles x

@SanFranBear

Hi there! Re the Keto 800, it is around 800 - 900 a day. I'm on day 5 and have been in ketosis for the 2nd day now (my husband says I have defo lost weight) but I'm not weighing myself until 21 days are up.

Though the portions are small, the food is lovely, satisfying and easy to prepare from the ample recipes that come with the Fast 800 Keto book.

If you are really interested to give this a go I suggest get the book and see the TV series on 4 on Demand (3 episodes) called "How to lose a stone in 21 days".

So far in I really recommend this approach. Hope this helps!

SanFranBear · 03/03/2022 09:24

YoudoYou - that's an excellent speed, you should be proud of that! I must admit, I find swimming such great exercise but have really limited time to get to the pool these days. Definitely something I'd have at my house when I win my millions!

And Ambushed - that sounds incredibly hard! I have a couple of days a week where I try not to go over about 800 calories and I'm sure the only reason I manage it, is because I know the following day I can eat 'normally' again. I purposefully don't do two of those days back to back as i don't want to get light headed or similar. I am much bigger though and perhaps it would be something to consider when I'm a lot smaller and need to reassess my intake anyway? The cookbook sounds like it could be good for my lowere calorie days though so I may hemave to invest.

I'm really impressed with your will power, not least about not stepping on the scales! I only weigh once a week as opposed to every day, but I really need that check in to keep me motivated.. looking forward to hearing how you get on after your 21 days!

8stone13 · 03/03/2022 09:34

Welcome @Wizzwazzwas You sound really focused & motivated - good luck on your journey 🙂

@youdoyoutoday You sound really enthused & upbeat & it's quite infectious 😀👍🏻

Day 61 - Thurs 3rd March - 9s 2lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.4

I failed on the chocolate front again yesterday. I'm got away lightly in those stats but to be honest I didn't feel good as a result of the sugar & that in itself has motivated me to do better today. I've slipped back into bad habits recently, I'm 'getting away with it' because I'm so busy I'm burning it up but I'm not happy with how it's making me feel which is actually positive, & a good motivator. Wish me luck with my resolve for today damn you Mini Egg bar in the cupboard 😀

youdoyoutoday · 03/03/2022 09:34

Thanks @SanFranBear

@Ambushedbycakeinmydreams I'm really intrigued by your Keto 800 however I don't think it would be sustainable for me as I work out every day. I did watch the series and found it interesting, I'd love to be nosey and find out how those people are doing now though. I also saw the book in sainsbury's and was tempted but I already have so many diet books, I can't justify another.
Good luck with it though, I really look forward to hearing how you're getting on!

youdoyoutoday · 03/03/2022 09:36

@8stone13 you'll make me blush ☺

Lzzyisgod · 03/03/2022 09:45

I started watching the Michael Mosley programme yesterday- I'll be interested to see how they do.

I'm tempted by the book as well - mainly for receipes. I enjoy cooking but I tend to get into a rut and being veggie I often struggle with hitting protein targets (there's only so many lentils my insides can tolerate!!!)

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2022 09:47

Hi all, struggling to get time to post!

Have survived pancake day (just 1 pancake for dinner) and an evening reception last night - friend got promoted to Professor: he gave a talk (really fascinating!) and then there was a reception for him (had just 5 canapes).

So yesterday (and this morning) was still at 13st1. So glad the evening eating didn't sabotage things. Just need to keep on track now.

I had to check back to old threads to find my starting weight. I feel better about my progress now, even with 2 months of nothing!

So my report:
SW 14 stone 4 (height 5' 3.5", bmi 36.1)
CW 13 stone 1(bmi 31.6)

Hmm. Not sure I'll keep calculating bmi regularly - sad to see I'm still obese, even after over a stone loss. I don't know what my goal weight is - originally I was thinking ~9.5 stone, but after discussion on previous threads about set points I may need to aim lower, since that's smack in between what I think are some of my set points. So I'd need to aim for 8.5st or 10.5st, but the higher weight leaves me still overweight.

I guess I'm so far from that now it's not really an issue!

Rewis · 03/03/2022 11:47

Okay. Today was first weigh in on my programme. Not impressed. Need to trust the process.
Start weight (8w pg): 88kg

Crazzzycat · 03/03/2022 11:47

Morning all! Thanks for your kind words yesterday. It really means a lot 🥲 Yesterday was as difficult as expected. Work place bullying and the impact that years of that can have on someone are just awful. I hope his employers do something, but I’m not holding out much hope.

Anyway, needless to say I went off plan yesterday. I had soooo many biscuits. I don’t even like biscuits! 😂 Weirdly, the lovely bar of chocolate DH bought to cheer me up, didn’t seem appealing at all. It’s odd how stress affects your taste buds.

In typical “the mysteries of weightloss” fashion, the scales showed a lower number today than they did yesterday. How is that even possible?! Anyway, it’s encouraged me to try and make sure that today doesn’t turn into a repeat of yesterday. We’ll see how it goes, but at least the intention is there.

Crazzzycat · 03/03/2022 11:54

@murmuration, you may still be obese, but you are SO much closer to just being overweight. For me personally, tracking BMI numbers doesn’t mean that much, but making it out of the obese bracket was a huge thing for me. You’re so close to achieving that!

SunshineCake1 · 03/03/2022 12:10

Well done @youdoyoutoday 🏊‍♀️ 💨. I definitely started sleeping better once I was running. Hope it lasts for you.

You haven't failed @8stone13 as you have learnt that too much chocolate/sugar makes you feel rubbish.

Try not to be sad @murmuration. Apart from I am the Queen of that so stop trying to steal me crown, you have lost over a stone and you are still trying. Well done and keep it up Star.

I couldn't decide whether to run outside or on the treadmill and went with outside as otherwise I'd just watch the news all the time and miss out on fresh air. I can also control my speed more. Well I am pleased I ran 6.08km. I laughed about how I used to be able to run 12-15km but I am pleased with the six. Haven't checked my time but not bothered about that as I did it.

I got in the scales and nearly fainted. Having been 12 stone 3.6 every day for a week even though I ran five km every day for five consecutive days, no run yesterday and then six today, I am 12 stone 0.8 today. Do not understand it at all! Just relaxed might be down to 11 something by next WOW so that has made me happy.

I am also back to cooking again. Yesterday I made chicken stir fry with noodles, carrots and yellow pepper and the day before I made a fish pie. Tonight we are having prawn jalfrezi. I got my bargain veg box from Lidl this morning so will be cooking up some lovely roasted veg and stir fries with that too.

Way hay! 2.8lbs off. So happy. And relieved.

SingaporeSlinky · 03/03/2022 12:18

On the Fast 800 topic, I bought the latest book ‘Fast 800 Easy’ recently because it was only a fiver in The Works. I’d watched the ‘how to lose a stone in…’ series and some of the recipes look nice. So far I’ve had the portobello mushroom ‘pizza’ and courgette lasagne (maybe others, can’t remember now). All nice so far, lots of flavours.

When I managed to stick at around 800 cals the weight definitely fell off, but it’s not sustainable I don’t think. I upped to 1200 cals and have had steady losses in the last few weeks. After a heavy weekend that made me shoot up 3lbs I’ve gone back to 800 and it’s definitely working, I must be on a calorie deficit of around 1000 cals per day at the moment. But again, I probably won’t be able to stick to that beyond this week. I like seeing the fast weight loss though, as it motivates me more.

Interestingly I don’t find I’m hungry, I’m having a coffee after the gym, then a late lunch, and normal dinner. I stop eating around 6pm and then just water until 11am the next day. It’s quite extreme, I realise that, but I’m aiming for weight loss specifically for a holiday.

I think the fasting is sustainable though.

CumbrianExile · 03/03/2022 12:29

Hi everyone!

@youdoyoutoday some of the other swimmers speeds are unreal! And they make it look effortless! One day maybe...

Still sticking to my calorie target daily. Showing as down 3lb this morning so I'm happy with that.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day.

Gonnagetgoing · 03/03/2022 13:03

OK - so weighed myself today and I'm under 11 stone - not sure how much as can't see so probably will buy digital scales.

So far had:-

granola (Waitrose berries), with Yeo Valley plain yogurt and honey
3 large cups of tea with skimmed milk
Heinz minestrone soup with small amount parmesan and 2 ryvitas

the interesting thing is I got some snacks (Laughing Cow light triangles, baby bel light cheeses etc) and have been having these as snacks but probably need to ditch those.

I was over 11 stone at some point last year but have gone down.

I've been running every lunchtime for 15-20 minutes though and doing workouts every other day - stopped those recently too.

I did also try to swap snacks for fruit. And cut carbs right down - to a palmful or less of rice/pasta etc for meals. But I am having e.g. 80g those stuffed pasta (ones you put in water for 3 mins) with pesto, spinach and mushrooms.

Goal weight ideally 10 stone or less.

Height 5 ft 4.5 no idea of BMI.

@Crazzycat - I know what you mean about biscuits - last night I ate 2 Toffee Crisps (in a pack of 4) yet I like them but they're not the same as in the old days but not as nice - why did I eat 2 of them?!

I agree with stress affecting with how you eat to comfort and that you 'deserve' a treat!

murmuration · 03/03/2022 13:42

Thanks for your kind words @Crazzzycat and @SunshineCake1 . You are right, I am close to overweight - way closer than I was before - and I have lost over a stone!

Also kind thoughts to you - I see there is more going on in your life now @SunshineCake1 ,and that sounds quite hard for your DH @Crazzzycat . I'm only struggling with overwork at the moment (Christmas break was extremely welcome, but have another crunch period just now - got an email yesterday about something I was supposed to do by last Fri, oops. They were kind enough to give me more time, as I tried to do it today but have run out of time again. Maybe I can manage tomorrow.)

@SanFranBear @youdoyoutoday @Lzzyisgod @SingaporeSlinky

And anyone else particularly interested in the Fast 800. I did set up a thread just on Fast 800 yesterday so feel free to join us also. But I will still post here as there is a good community vibe.

I'm pleased all seems to be going to plan, but exercise (my usual 30 mins cardio) seems harder than ever to do. However I'm giving myself some slack as I'm eating so few calories.

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2022 13:53

@Crazzzycat bullying of any sort is so difficult to manage. The impact on the victim can be horrendous especially the drip drip insidious type of bullying that often gets gas lighted away. ❤️

@murmuration well done on the pancake restraint 👍. Very good just having the one.

@CumbrianExile well done on your loss 👏

@SingaporeSlinky sounds like you’ve found your groove 👍. Keep going 😬

Welcome back @Rewis and good luck for your plan 👍

Afternoon everyone!

Great to see lots of progress. V jealous of the swimmers. I love swimming, but don’t quite feel up to it again yet. However, I did go for a big walk in the woods today, which is a huge step forward in terms of feeling well enough to do that.

Made overnight oats for breakfast, which were disgusting until I blasted them in the microwave and turned them into yummy porridge. Lovely big salad for lunch with egg and a small piece of lovely cheese.

I have bought a load of veg to roast and freeze, but now too tired!

Wizzwazzwas · 03/03/2022 14:24

Oops, forgot... I weighed in too

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 89.9kg

Not discussing bmi.

youdoyoutoday · 03/03/2022 14:43

Afternoon sweet cravings are kicking in so I have to distract myself. I've got some errands to run so I'm going to get out the house, get my step count up along the way.

I haven't had any kind of treats since Tuesday, was fine yesterday probably because I had DD to distract me and then I fell asleep so early.

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2022 15:06

@Wizzwazzwas well done on your progress👍 Absolutely no obligation to post bmi or anything your are not comfortable with. No pressure at all on these threads ☺️
