WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Hello

I lost nearly 2 stone on Slimming World back in 2019 and have steadily put most of it back on again.

I've now started the Fast 800 Keto and it's brilliant (on day three). The book is the companion to the C4 series "How to lose a stone in 21 days". I recommend re-watch the series on catch up and get stuck in with the book.

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2022 15:22

Hah well yes, I'm quietly proud of myself for stopping at one egg @CumbrianExile 😆

Thanks @TheRealHousewife and @youdoyoutoday she's not got a bug, it's travel sickness (I'm pretty sure). Just got to work out how to minimise the clean up required if it becomes a long term thing. She has an hour between breakfast and going out on the school run. Maybe we can give her toast for breakfast instead of cereal and see if that helps.

I did have a productive hour at work and have managed to get a school mum friend to do the pick up this afternoon so it isn't a total write off.

Sorry to be a moany Minnie though.

Gonnagetgoing · 01/03/2022 15:32

Please, please can I join? Will post weight etc.

fallfallfall · 01/03/2022 15:42

Good morning everyone, glad @SunshineCake1pointed me in the right direction! Will post numbers in a bit

youdoyoutoday · 01/03/2022 16:01

@ImALittlePea glad to hear it's not a bug!

Could you try a coverall bib and a towel on the floor? I have those plastic coverall bibs and we used that for while, seemed to work!

@Gonnagetgoing welcome! 😊

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2022 16:06

Can anyone help guide me on how many cals in chicken that’s been cooked in a slow cooker? So not roasted in oil etc, but whole chicken just cooked in water. Looking on MFP it varies quite a bit, per 100g, say.

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2022 16:09

I've ordered some extra long cover all bibs this afternoon and will dig out some old towels to layer under her (cutting holes for the harness straps). Car is already stocked with plastic bags, spare clothes and wipes. She's never been travel sick before, but this is a new seat and faces the front so maybe need to rethink and get a(nother) new rearwards one if it carries on. She's been in it a week and sick four times so far, only in the car, but not every time?!

Crazzzycat · 01/03/2022 16:19

This thread is moving so fast! 😯

Nice to see so many new people, as well as all the regulars.

I ended February in style, by eating half a massive bar of chocolate. What can I say, it’s been a bit of a shitty month! Anyway fingers crossed March will be better for all of us.

Hugs to you @ImALittlePea. Sounds like you’ve had a tough few days. One mini egg is very restrained!

Well done on the exercise @CumbrianExile! It’s funny how sometimes exercise is the best remedy for achy muscles.

Nice to see you back @Elle200. Sorry to hear you’ve been putting some weight back on, but you’re absolutely right to leave all the negative feelings associated with that in the past!

I personally think March is the perfect time to get back into the swing of things. No idea why dieting is so popular in January (yes, I know making up for X-mas excess and all that). It’s pretty much doomed to fail though when the weather is miserable and we can all hide our excess flab with big jumpers 🙃 Bring on spring I say!

SanFranBear · 01/03/2022 16:35

LittlePea - sounds like you've got so much on your plate! Impressed with the one mini egg!!

My DD used to, and still does to some extent, get quite a travel sick and although she's 12 now, this started at about 5 months... she could be fine for an hour or vom on a 10 minute journey - I really feel your pain! I got some of the little elastic type bracelets which have a nob thing on the inner side which supposedly press against a pressure point and ease the sickness (not sure how well they worked). They look like this and think I picked mine up in Boots... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ANTI-NAUSEA-TRAVEL-SICKNESS-WRISTBANDS-PAIR-MOTION-SICKNESS-BANDS-FITS-ALL-/254201006923?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 (sorry for the ugly link)

If I knew there was any kind of journey coming up, we'd leave before breakfast, even if it meant getting somewhere hours before we were due.. Unfortunately, there isn't much else you can use until about 4yo - and then I'd swear by Kwells!

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2022 18:13

Life is pretty full on, and generally I'm ok enough at keeping afloat but it doesn't take much for me to feel like I'm drowning in it all. Therapy is helping me make more sense and view things differently, but I'm still only human and not always capable of keeping a lid on it (aside from the mini egg restraint). Days like this I really resent dieting though, and so often I just think sod it and dive into all the crisps, pizza and wine. But not today! I will not self sabotage!

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2022 20:02

Update - ended up having pasta and pesto loaded with broccoli, peas, cherry toms and a little bit of bacon. Topped with parmesan and a single slice of garlic bread. And followed by 2 pancakes with lemon and sugar. Probably more calories overall today than I'd have liked, but all in all quite balanced so considering the stress and mood I'm quite happy!

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2022 20:17

Welcome back thread @Elle200, pleased to have you join us. I’m happy to read you’re no longer beating yourself up about the back slide. Sometimes life and feelings just take over. You’ve got this 👍

@CumbrianExile well done on your 32 lengths 👍👏

@youdoyoutoday I’ve attached a picture. The liquid in the tubs is home made chicken bone broth which is loaded with natural collagen. It’s what I usually use for my home made soups. I’m sure the collagen coupled with protein with every meal is part of why my hairs getting in better condition and I’m often complimented on my skin, which is not bad to say I’m late 50’s (not boasting, just sayin’)

Welcome to thread @Gonnagetgoing & @Ambushedbycakeinmydreams. I agree Ambush, that Dr Michael Mosleys recipes are very good! Although personally 800 cals a day I find a bit hard core and I was unable to sleep properly and lost hair 😯. I did lose the most weight I’d ever lost though 😬. We are all different; You do what works for you!

@ImALittlePea I’m pleased to read your dd isn’t ill ill and I hope you find a satisfactory solution soon. If it’s helping moan away PetitPoi 🙂 & well done on not diving face first into the yummy treat cupboard 😬

Welcome to thread @fallfallfall ☺️ How are you?

@Crazzzycat I totally get your thinking about March being the month we get proper in gear on the weight loss train. However I find being mindful in January & February stops us going totally off track and is about damage limitation. In real terms I’ve stayed a little over maintenance so far this year but would like 7lbs off to give me comfortable wiggle room. Don’t sweat the chocolate, you’ll burn that off with all the exercise you get in 🏃‍♀️

@SingaporeSlinky perhaps just take the calorie count off the packaging if you’ve not added any fat. If you’ve no packaging visit an online supermarket and look at a nutrition label for chicken. That’s what I’d do. Generally it’s around 160 calories 100g.

Very anxious. Having cheese. I know it won't help and I shouldn't eat my feelings but if I don't have it when I want it I will stress about that too. It will become about not being fed as a child and just get too much.

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2022 20:40

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I didn’t think to check the packaging! Doh! I’m so used to checking labels, I don’t know why I didn’t check the chicken, but I’ve got it from the supermarket online, and it turns out it’s pretty much what I’ve been logging, thanks!

HouseofHolbein · 01/03/2022 20:49

@TheRealHousewife work is still getting in the way of running but fingers crossed it should settle down in a couple of weeks 😊

For March I’m going to go back to basics and do at least 10k steps every day. I feel better for doing that tbh and it does help with my weight loss.

Plus I’m definitely stopping the crisps. Too much salt and fat but sooo yummy 😂😂

Wheelerdeeler · 01/03/2022 22:01

Hi. Can I join?

I'm so cross. I totally binged this past week. Scales hadn't budged so I threw my toys out of the pram. I'm only sabotaging myself.

I'm doing calorie counting but reducing it from tmw. I really want a good week to kick-start me.

I'll log weight tmw

fallfallfall · 02/03/2022 06:31

All is well enough over here @TheRealHousewife but my fancy scale was at zero battery yesterday/this am!
Two months in a row, so I’m wondering if it’s a software issue?
Either way exercise going well and I’ve eaten fish….I hate fish, but I know it’s good for me :(. Dh does a good job cooking it I’m such a baby.

129orbust · 02/03/2022 07:24

Happy March everyone! I am 134 lbs exactly this morning which is neither good nor bad. I am really really am getting back on the programme this month. @Crazzzycat is right.
The storms and rain and cold and general business has meant a lot less exercise since I rejoined the thread. However, I will get focused and see if I can get as close as possible to target this month.
DD1, DD2, DH and I are all working hard and sometimes I find myself wondering, with everything else going on in the world, why we are bothering!
Onwards and inwards we trudge - it might have turned into a skip by 31st March. Smile

buzzofthebumblebee · 02/03/2022 08:02

Morning everyone. I totally forgot to weigh this morning and now after pint water and 2 cups tea I won't bother !! Hope we have a good month for losses!

Ambushedbycakeinmydreams · 02/03/2022 08:19

Hi everyone

Here's day 4 of the Fast 800 Keto. I'm delighted to find I am now officially in ketosis mode, which means my body is now burning fat!

I'm decided NOT to weigh or measure myself until the first 21 days is up, aka "how to lose a stone in 21 days".

I would love it if anyone else is doing this diet?

Keep up the good work folks :)

Lzzyisgod · 02/03/2022 08:20

Good morning I'd really really like to join.

Hopped on the scales this morning all enthusiastic only to be slightly taken aback as I've put on half a stone since the summer

I'm off on my first foreign holiday this summer for 14 years so I'm aiming for a pound a week (I can be realistic!!!)

Start weight 11st 11

Aim 10st 3
I'm 5ft 3.5 and gym/exercise regularly but eat way way way too much

(ok slightly more than 20 pounds !! But puts me in the very top of healthy bmi)

TheRealHousewife · 02/03/2022 08:56

Good Morning All

Scales were kind to me today and showed a slight loss. Could have done with more but it’s better than bouncing back up.

@SunshineCake1 Hope you’re feeling more settled ❤️

@HouseofHolbein good idea 👍 Crisps as tasty as they are could be sabotaging all your efforts with their addictive saltiness.

@SingaporeSlinky I find calorie for calorie chicken is right up there for its protein content. Such a great source. Nearly as good as eggs 🥚

@Wheelerdeeler welcome to the thread. Jump right in.

@fallfallfall I can be like that with fish. There are times I’m just not enjoying it, at other times I do. The oilier fish can take some stomaching. I sometimes have tinned fish, especially the ones in spicy tomato sauce. They are quite nice. It does sound like a some sort of glitch with your scale or dud batteries. I had this last year when my batteries didn’t seem to last as long. Current batch have been better.

Welcome to the thread @Lzzyisgod Weighing in has given you a firm starting point. Now you can measure (as well as see) your progress over time. An holiday is good incentive and I’m sure you’ll look and feel great!

@Ambushedbycakeinmydreams that’s great that you reached ketosis. I didn’t often manage that personally although I was if (still do if). I still did great on Fast800 though. Keep posting I’m really interested to see how you do.

@buzzofthebumblebee In the past I’ve forgot to weigh before drinking. It’s frustrating especially if you were expecting to see a loss.

Menu
Meal 1 - Soufle omelette & salad
Meal 2 - Chicken curry & Cauli rice.
Tea, black coffee, walnuts, water.

Sorry if I’ve missed any one, could possible cross post as I’ve been writing for ages …

Day 60 - Weds 2nd March - 9s 2 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.7

Not sure what's going on after the 1s on the scale at the weekend as I'm not eating much, I think it's just one of those odd random up & down phases 🤔

Hi @SanFranBear I'm a single mum too & I know what you mean about needing to be around for your kids 🙂

@SunshineCake1 Yes BF is Body Fat (thanks @SingaporeSlinky)

Hugs to you @SunshineCake1 & @ImALittlePea & anyone else who needs them Thanks

Blimey this thread is moving fast - I can hardly keep up! Welcome to all newbies 👋🏻 🙂

I'm sure someone said they were relatively slim but still don't feel like themselves & miss their old wardrobe - I've been through the thread twice just now & can't find it! Anyway, if that was you - you sound just the same as me 😀
