WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Welcome to the thread @CumbrianExile @kagerou @EssexLioness @Angliski 👍

I see @SanFranBear that makes more sense, like Dr Michael Morley’s Fast 800 5:2. Some great recipes on that plan! Really nutrient dense and very tasty.

@BellaElla99 Its great you’ve decided to make changes and I know it’s difficult to lose and easy to feel over whelmed about what to do. There are plenty of previous threads that have some useful links; they might be useful. Perseverance is key. If you fall off, just get back on … as many times as is required to get to goal.

Thank you @ginsparkles. Still worrying about dd. Hopefully some stuff will be sorted this week.

icklekid · 28/02/2022 23:57

Thanks for new thread, everyone was so welcoming and friendly on feb thread definitely want to keep following for March. So far so good this week after the weekend so hopefully onwards and downward!

Foreverlexicon · 01/03/2022 06:28

Morning all.
Yesterday was back on track; did our first run of week 6 C25K - proud of DP for sticking to it as she’s never been a runner! Feels good to get back into it and the dog loves it too.

Pancakes planned for tonight (within calories!) and a gym session as well as back in the office - ugh. Going to be a shock to the system as I was off sick for almost 10 weeks, have spent a month doing 4 hours a day WFH but in reality I haven’t had 4 hours of work to do a day….only back in for 6 hours and still avoiding nights until I’m back from Thailand but still - not overly looking forward to it!

I

SunshineCake1 · 01/03/2022 06:44

I'm in a pickle. Feel like I should have a non running day as run four consecutive days but mentally I am really struggling re DD and running helps. I just have a really bad feeling Sad.

Well done on your running @Foreverlexicon and I hope work goes well.

It really is a great thread @icklekid.

Miss some of our older members though.

SanFranBear · 01/03/2022 07:23

I'm sorry to read of your worries about your DD, Sunshine. I hope she has a great day today Flowers

I hadn't heard of Dr Michael Morley’s Fast 800 5:2 but will investigate as I've been using Pinch of Nom for most of my lower calorie days and whilst not too bad, always nice to have a change. Will admit, have got back into omelettes after reading this thread - not sure why I always forget they're a thing... perhaps my boiled egg obsession takes over?

pennysays · 01/03/2022 07:25

Happy to join a shiny new thread.

SW: 80kg
CW: 73kg
GW: I don’t know?!

Feeling so much better even after this weight loss. Looking forward to exercising again if my leg holds up. Scales playing tricks on me a bit but never mind, eating so much more sustainable at the moment.

Don’t overdo it @SunshineCake1 our body needs rest days

murmuration · 01/03/2022 07:38

Hi - I dropped away over Christmas but I need to get back on track. I'm basically the same I was just before I left, no weight loss in the intervening 2+ months.

So I didn't hit my goal of being able to wear to my 'professional' trousers when I went back to the office.

I did get down to 13st on Christmas morning, but was back up immediately after Christmas feast, then slowly crept up - when I hit 13st4 I decided I had to do something about this. Right now 13st1, after a quick (probably water) loss from about of week of trying to do things right.

Work has been relentless, and I've been sliding back into thinking "I deserve" whatever snack I go get. I need to change that habit.

My new goal is an event mid-April that I'd really l like to be able to wear some of my dresses/skirts to. I think ~1 stone or a little less would do it. But then I need to keep going after! But that would be a nice boost.

So I'm doing: intermittent fasting, eating breakfast and lunch only, and trying to keep between 1200-1400 calories per day. Already facing issues - yesterday I had meetings until 3pm so ended up having a quite late lunch; today I'm planning to make pancakes for dinner and I'm unclear whether I'd have one or not. It feels too soon back in the 'swing' to make a cheat like that. I have a terrible habit of just continually eating if I have anything after 5 or 6pm.

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/03/2022 08:14

Hello all - thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife

I have had the most indulgent and guilt-free 4 day-weekend celebrating my big birthday. My aim when I joined gave myself a big kick up the backside in September was to feel fabulous at 50, and I achieved that.

I'm back on it today. After coasting at 11 2 for a couple of months, my plan for March is to get into the 10s, or under 70kg, and see how I feel. I'm very proud of my 2 stone loss, but there is definitely another half-stone at least that could be shed, at least from my tummy and thighs. I'm not going to go mad, but consciously keep calories to 1400, no snacking, keep at the exercise, and to keep alcohol to weekends and special occasions only.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 01/03/2022 08:19

I need to join, if you’ll have me?!
It’s my birthday tomorrow so won’t be starting just yet but am planning on a healthy weekend to kick start loosing a stone to start with.
I plan on walking 10,000 steps a day or more - currently it varies but usually only 7-8,000
And cutting out the crap! No more desserts and unhealthy snacks - and limiting the alcohol to just at the weekend or not at all.
I’m 47 (tomorrow) menopausal, 5.4” and weigh 11.5 at last weigh in.
Ideally I’d like to be 10 stone. But aiming for 1 stone to start with.

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2022 08:44

Hello everyone 👋🏻

Day 59 - Tues 1st March - 9s 2 & 1/2lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.6

Well the 1 on the scales didn't last long! I wouldn't mind but I ate less yesterday than I had over the weekend 🤔

Nice to see friends from previous threads as well as new faces 🙂

Life is one mad dash at the moment but I'll try to catch up later 🤞🏻

Have a great day everyone - let's March forward (couldn't resist 🤭😀)

8stone13 · 01/03/2022 08:57

And thanks @TheRealHousewife for the new thread 🙂

SunshineCake1 · 01/03/2022 09:35

@pennysays I was planning on resting today but mentally I was really struggling as I'm terrified about what DD might do so I needed to run. I went on the treadmill instead of going outside so that I could stop at any point.

Still no weight loss in five days of running and at least two days of good eating and fasting. I was up 5.4lb at the end of February from the start so sorry to let you all down Sad. I am hoping for 2lbs off at least so that I can achieve something rather than hoping for four pounds off and then being upset I fail.

Thank you @SanFranBear. I will message dd later.

I am/was the same @murmuration. I changed it to I deserve to feel good about how I look, buy nice good quality food and don't need to eat to say up yours to the people who didn't care for me or feed me as a child. I was hurting myself and no one else.

That was wonderful to read @buzzofthebumblebee. 🎉 well done you!Star.

Welcome @IAmSantaOhYesIAm and happy birthday 🎂 for tomorrow in case I forget. Menopause has decimated my memory Sad.

Thank you for the thread @TheRealHousewife. Hope you are doing okay.

@8stone13 what does BF stand for please?

HouseofHolbein · 01/03/2022 09:42

Morning! Weighed in at 2lb up this morning 😂😂 that’ll be the bag of lime and coriander popadoms I ate last night then 😱 I’m going to knock crisps on the head I think as I have no restraint with them.

I’ll drink lots of water and hope to see a loss by the end of the week 😊

youdoyoutoday · 01/03/2022 09:49

Morning ladies!

Just checking in to our brand new shiny thread, thank you @TheRealHousewife

Welcome to all the newbies!

I went swimming this morning after a fairly decent night's sleep, the alarm actually woke me up which was a pleasant surprise!

I haven't weighted myself properly for a few days but last weigh in was 14 stones and 1lb so I'll start the month off with that.

Had yoghurt for breakfast this morning and so far so good, maybe it was a tummy bug before.

Also just ordered some collagen shots, I had some before but I don't think they are making any difference to my skin, hair or nails which just seem to break by being looked at! I feel like I'm losing weight for various reasons, one of them being to look better but I still feel..... unpolished, bit rough round the edges! So I'm hoping these new collagen shots will help with that healthy glow!

Looking forward to starting lent tomorrow, I know its going to be difficult giving up wine and sugar but needs must, I really need a boost to get me back on track but I will be enjoying a glass or 2 tonight along with a couple of pancakes!

Found a recipe online which is only 61 calories per pancake so I'm not going to feel guilty over that as we are having a super healthy dinner tonight, cauliflower pizzaiola with salad. For cauliflower, this is a great recipe, I did used more than a pinch of chilli though and it was super tasty!

Happy Tuesday xx

ginsparkles · 01/03/2022 10:41

Morning,

So I weighed in at 2lb up on last month but hey ho, it's been a bit pants.

So pulling on my big girl big pants and starting again.

Meals for today
Had an apple bar for breakfast
Meal 1 salad with pasta and coleslaw
Meal 2 chicken stroganoff with wild rice

And desperately trying to ignore the most delicious chocolate brownie that is as my house right now!!

Welcome to all the new joiners!
@SunshineCake1 could you substitute the run for a walk for a day or two? Rest your body but still give you some mental relief?

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2022 11:47

Sunshine BF stands for body fat.

SunshineCake1 · 01/03/2022 11:59

Good idea @ginsparkles. I could walk in the treadmill as I am faster on that than when I walk the dog.

Thank you @SingaporeSlinky.

ImALittlePea · 01/03/2022 12:22

I'm in a right slump (again) this week. Had a hairy few days with DH, we've talked things out but I'm still feeling a bit sensitive to him, and that is projecting onto other minor things. Have realised (and severely dwelling on) that someone that I considered to be a good friend is actually not, and is being very frosty. Trying and failing not to give her any headspace. Reality hitting home about some issues 7yo has been having (which we are well supported with, but still upsetting). And on top of it all, 16mo has decided to start being sick in the car in her new car seat (not every journey, but more than I can stomach), so I'm dealing with the vile cleanup most mornings while trying to work out how to overcome this when most things we do (including, most importantly, the school run for 7yo) rely on driving. Argh!

Hate feeling like this. I know none of these problems are major, but they pile up so heavily and really impact my mood.

Anyway.. I 'caved' and had a single mini egg, followed by 1/2 tin soup and a small banana. Dinner is unplanned, but I'm hoping will be sensible enough in current mood. We've got a big meal this weekend for some close friends getting married, and I badly want to fit into a new dress I haven't worn yet. So trying to keep that in mind and hope I don't massively cave and self sabotage because of all of this.

youdoyoutoday · 01/03/2022 14:00

Chin up @ImALittlePea I know what you mean about the little things piling up, my DD was also going through a phase of throwing up in the car and it was a tummy bug, she's over it now, but I feel your pain.
Can you avoid giving her milk before the journey? I found that helped.

TheRealHousewife · 01/03/2022 14:20

Good Afternoon All

You're all very welcome about the new thread :) I consider it 'our' thread as it would be nothing without all you lovely ladies. Thank you all for caring, sharing & inspiring. I'm ok TY @SunshineCake1. Hope you're ok despite all you have on your plate.

@youdoyoutoday I swear by collagen. I feel it definitely makes a difference (along side decent protein intake) to skin, hair & nails. I'm most definitely going to try the cauli recipe you posted. Thank you for sharing! Well done getting a swim in!

@HouseofHolbein love your upbeat attitude! definitely not proper weight gain, it'll be the salt/water weight. It will be gone by the weekend ... if you don't have any more :) Are you still running?

@ImALittlePea sorry to read your post. Sending love & flowers (cant do emojis as on lap top and I cant find them) Hope you find some peace soon and that your little girl is ok.

Thank you for the thread @TheRealHousewife :)

I've not posted since the beginning of December, as I really went off the rails and have binged and binged and binged, regaining 14.3kgs which I'm disgusted about but what's done is done and I'm not beating myself up about it anymore.

Back on course now, hoping Spring is just around the corner, good to see so many people being successful and to read your inspiring stories. Great thread!

@imalittlepea I'm sorry to hear of your slump. But I am very impressed you only ate 1 miniegg! Flowers

Went swimming this morning. Managed to up my lengths to 32! And it helped my achy leg muscles from yesterday's walk 😂

youdoyoutoday · 01/03/2022 14:57

@TheRealHousewife which collagen do you take?
Though I'm hoping this new one works better than the old one!

Please do try the cauli pizzaiola!! Let me know what you think
