WOW 😯 Where did February go … A Warm Welcome to New and existing Members alike! Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Struggling to keep up a little with the thread but congrats to everyone who is doing well and Flowers to those struggling; as long as you’re trying then you’ll get there!

I feel exhausted. Busy day at work and today our side hustle of ad hoc doggie day care/boarding has kicked off with 3 spaniels. So went taken the pack for a walk, about to go do the horse then we still have our week 6 run 2 to do. Didn’t fancy it with 4 dogs in tow! But our dog will be nicely exhausted with a walk, a run and an all day playmate to boot!

Tomorrow is more of the same, plan an early run before the spaniels come then will walk them and late shift at work so doubt I’ll get to the gym. Hoping I can work from home tomorrow though as managed to collect some urgent paperwork to do today. But at least being busy means less time to snack!

ImALittlePea · 03/03/2022 16:43

I don't really track BMI, but out of interest I've just calculated mine and I'm at the top end of healthy now for the first time since having my daughter (and quite possibly a bit before then as well). So that's something!

pennysays · 03/03/2022 17:07

Really happy to have run today for the first time in six weeks. I've been nursing an injury and cycling a little in recent weeks for some low impact conditioning. Think next week I get back to my normal sports and am SO EXCITED. Absolutely knackered now though my fitness has taken a hit...

buzzofthebumblebee · 03/03/2022 17:11

Hello all. Conscious I've been awol. Too busy but also have relaxed my food, on account of it being birthday week. I've done 6 solid months of no snacking, no crisps, no chocolate, no cake, no sugar (bar very odd exception), thought I deserved 1 week "off" then I'll be back to it next week.

Yes, I know I am making excuses for myself, but with so many lovely bottles of fizz, cake, chocolates, and more eating-out celebrations this weekend, then why not? (and no - I don't have an enormous social life or circle of friends ... just decided to meet my lovely friends individually / pairs / couples - and have more intimate 1:1 celebrations than throw a big party! More damage food-wise, but spreads out the fun!).

buzzofthebumblebee · 03/03/2022 17:14

well done on the running Penny & the 6km as well as the loss Sunshine. Great stuff. Hope things continue to be more positive.

Enjoy reading everyone's posts even if I don't have time to respond individually. Well done all. Keep strong and there will be lots of slimline bodies to show off come the summer !!

HouseofHolbein · 03/03/2022 18:57

Hello everyone! Well done for being here 💕 we are all amazing 😘

Anyway I weighed in this morning and my crisps weight has gone 😊 pleased with that.

I did have tortillas last night 😱 but they were part of my tea (bean chilli super yummy) so that’s ok.

Looking forward to having some time off next week 😊 and I am doing parkrun on Saturday morning which will be fantastic

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2022 19:13

Oups missed @SunshineCake1 weight loss … well done, that’s great 👍 👏

Well done everyone on the losses, and to Penny on the run.

Savour the treats Buzz in your week off.

HouseofHolbein · 03/03/2022 19:33

@TheRealHousewife

I love your upbeat posts *@HouseofHolbein* 👍 You’re so positive and it’s uplifting, thank you 🙏😘
Thank you 😊 I don’t have time to tag everyone but I read all the posts and I feel inspired by everyone and proud of us all for chipping away at our weight and gaining fitness and health 👍

Middle age and beyond isn’t a given. My dad died at 47 and my brother was 51. I’m 52 now and enjoying every minute I can 😀

Lzzyisgod · 03/03/2022 20:40

Been a good day here 😁 logged everything which is always a good start.

Probably ate too much dinner but I was starving after work and gym day tomorrow for me

TheRealHousewife · 03/03/2022 21:16

@HouseofHolbein I totally understand that and sorry to hear you lost family so young ❤️. I feel the same about the future isn’t a given. My brother died at 49 and in the space of 9 months I lost 4 close relations including brother, father and both my in-laws (not covid). Every single one was an unexpected sudden death that involved the coroner. Horrendous time. In the midst of all that I very nearly became quadriplegic/died. I try to treasure every day but have a veil of anxiety I can’t shift (childhood trauma/abuse couple with some early adult trauma/abuse) and have complex ptsd. Counselling stop start due to covid. Pleased to say I’m still breathing 👍👏.

@Lzzyisgod logging (along with planning) is useful. That way you can measure what you eat when and how it affects how you feel as well as how it affects weight up/down 👍

Early night for me so will say night 🛌 😴

fallfallfall · 03/03/2022 22:08

@TheRealHousewife, i'm glad your still breathing :) i need you to keep me (most of the time) focused along with the occasional prod by @SunshineCake1
weight the same this am, but more active outside so different muscle group as i shovel OFF the snow from the grass to sunny patches and clean up what i can in the yard (two dogs if you get what i mean wink wink wink).
DH made a lovely carb heavy early breakfast and so far 2pm i've held off on lunch. hoping to go straight through to a reasonable supper WITHOUT getting my nose stuck in the pantry.

SanFranBear · 03/03/2022 22:15

I'm so sorry to hear of your numerous losses, RealHousewife. You're an inspiration on here and your posts, like Holbein, are always so positive so thank you Flowers

SunshineCake1 · 04/03/2022 07:06

I am so sad to read your latest post about all your losses and trauma @TheRealHousewifeFlowersFlowers.

ImALittlePea · 04/03/2022 07:07

Goodness that's such a huge amount to happen in a short space @TheRealHousewife I hope you're able to restart counselling soon (if, of course, that's what you want)

And that's so true @HouseofHolbein - nothing is a given

💐

Weighed in this morning and have maintained since last week. Have to say, a little bit deflated, but looking back on the week it's probably a fair result. Silver linings - it's not a gain, and I now know I'm in the healthy BMI bracket. And I definitely feel a bit lighter?! Maybe I've hit the plateau, which would be frustrating, but equally if I don't let the scales get inside my head too much I will probably continue to slim down in my clothes etc over the coming weeks.

(That's what I'm telling myself, anyway)

SanFranBear · 04/03/2022 07:15

It's my weigh-in day and I've managed to shift 0.8kgs, which is great considering my Wednesday night blow out. So another 1.5lbs down - whoop! Was almost pleased that, from the chart that was posted, I'm only obese but still a way to go but slow and steady wins the race!!

SW: 104.7
CW: 94.4
GW: 60ish...

Got a 10k hike planned in for later although the weather doesn't look too great... but I won't melt if it does rain and I have the right gear. Will set me up for the weekend as I'm not going to be able to go swimming as planned tomorrow (the pool I use is having extensive renovations and is closed - boo!) Will probably go for a nice walk as moving more each day really keeps me motivated.

Anyone else have lovely plans for the weekend?

Gonnagetgoing · 04/03/2022 07:32

Thanks for the BMI chart @TheRealHousewife.

Yesterday I had date stuffed with peanut butter then out for 2 gin and tonics and shared 4 bags of posh crisps and had a Lindt hazelnut chocolate bar later plus food which was taste the difference fish cake with veggies, carrots broccoli sweet Potato and quarter potato and cheese sauce. This morning had 2 laughing cow light cheese triangles on Vogel Soya and linseed toast with large cup tea with skimmed milk.

Need to weigh when I get up…

Gonnagetgoing · 04/03/2022 07:34

Oh I’m doing an outdoor exercise class tomorrow morning and a run at lunchtime.

I’ve been a bit breathless recently during my runs after a bad cold and maybe asthma so might see GP for inhaler. Plus my right foot where I sprained ankle late last year think I need a support for it… I run a mile in about 15-20 mins.

HouseofHolbein · 04/03/2022 07:46

@SanFranBear I’m working all weekend but I’m on a late tomorrow which means I can do parkrun! Yay!

Need to work on my steps… wasn’t quite at 10k yesterday which is disappointing but today is a new day 😊

I’ll weigh in when I get up 😊

youdoyoutoday · 04/03/2022 07:47

@Wizzwazzwas welcome!

When I started swimming I was really nervous so I paid for a couple of single sessions just to see how I got on. I got on OK so then I paid for a full membership. I was really self conscious but I was there I realised that no one was even paying me attention, they didn't care.

I hope you find your way back to a pool soon

I hope you find your way

youdoyoutoday · 04/03/2022 07:56

@TheRealHousewife wow! Your post was a hard read and yet you still find the time, energy, love and care to look after us lot too!! Hats off to you, you're a true inspiration ❤

@SunshineCake1 well done in your weight loss, what a nice boost after the rough time you've been having!

@buzzofthebumblebee enjoy your birthday week! 🎂

TheRealHousewife · 04/03/2022 08:42

Good Morning All

Thank you for your kind words. Actually these threads help me more than you’ll ever know. By nature I’m a giver and this is a positive outlet. In my previous life I was a child protection social worker. It was tough, not always easy but nonetheless rewarding (on some level).

The kicker is having awful neighbours whom I initially confided in (I actually think she groomed me and I always had a niggle at the back of my mind about her. In my vulnerable state I ignored my gut instinct) If it was a case of she just didn’t like our household that would be ok but she’s spread malicious gossip in the wider community and I don’t have the energy or social capital to keep fire fighting. At face level she is very charming and gregarious and I can see how she draws people in. We never ever see her now. If I come out of the house, she shoots back into hers as she’s aware I know what’s shes been doing. Anyways enough rambling on …

Thank you @fallfallfall @SanFranBear (enjoy your 10k 👍) @SunshineCake1 @ImALittlePea @youdoyoutoday ❤️

You’re welcome @Gonnagetgoing 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Mushroom soup, gf cob.
Meal 2 - Salmon stir fry. Greek yoghurt chopped dates.
Tea, black coffee, water.

No plans for the weekend as such, just chipping away at household jobs.

Day 62 - Fri 4th March - 9s 1 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.5

I did a better on the chocolate front yesterday, but I did have a strange realisation. If I have home made cakes & puddings available I don't crave chocolate at all. If there's some fruit crumble that I can heat up, or perhaps some sponge pudding that I've made, I have that & don't want anything else. It doesn't seem to work for shop bought desserts, I seem to crave more of those 🤨

I've always known I have a major sweet tooth, & when I cut all sugar out (which I have done to lose weight) I'm pretty fed up, but it was only yesterday I realised that what I'm actually craving is my own baking. So I need to get back to that, because ironically it'll save my calories & help me feel better (& save me money!) 🤔

Will try to catch up on the very busy thread now 😀

8stone13 · 04/03/2022 09:15

@Foreverlexicon Trying to get things done "before the spaniels arrive" made me smile 😀 🐾

@Wizzwazzwas - @TheRealHousewife is right, there's no pressure to post anything that people don't want to. I keep an eye on my BMI & Body Fat as in the past I've got too low with those & been on the unhealthier side, so it's good for me to keep a note of where I'm at (I'm also Autistic so I love data & records.) But you'll see that some people post stats, others menus, others a record of their exercise - we're all doing things differently but the thread is just about chat & support 🙂

Well done @SunshineCake1 & @SanFranBear
👏🏻

@ImALittlePea I regularly channel @SunshineCake1 great comment on the last thread along the lines of don't let the scales detract from how we feel or look - that's what matters 🙂

Sounds like a fab time @buzzofthebumblebee 🎉

Seems there are a lot of us on here with past traumas, I'm in that category too & just wanted to send a hug to all affected There is a huge amount of resilience & positivity on this thread, a sense in which we are taking control & determinedly making a better future for ourselves on multiple levels. I'm going to take that into my day with me now. Love to all 🙂
